We saw a man leave with a small hard serve ice cream cone piled high! Can't imagine what the large cone would be like. Service was quick and excellent! A great road trip stop along HWY 202 in Maine. Went to Fast Eddie's again and had a delightful time. Veggie burger was good with onion ring and mozzarella sticks. Shake was excellent. My son played in the little playground they have. Lots to see and do there. Car hop service as well as inside seating and walk up service. Car hop waitress was great, friendly and good service. Great location on 201. Cool place. Fun. Enjoyable. Awesome place! Great old school atmosphere with tons of things to do. In and outside seating with an upper deck or you can do the drive in and sit in your car. My husband and I decided to try all of the drive up restaurants in Maine . First up was Fast Eddies in Winthrop. It gets a D from me . We ordered a bacon cheeseburger , a hot dog , onion rings and a chocolate shake . Prices are not bad at all. I was going to get a lobster roll but once I found out how they served it I changed my mind. They served it on a bulky roll, yuck. Bacon cheeseburger was a frozen patty which was terrible with bacon from a box and it was terrible. The chocolate shake was awful too. My husband had the onion rings and I tried one. They were like out of a bag in the grocery store and a red hot dog. The bun was not even buttered and toasted . Come on people give me a break . This is Maine and you could be a big success here if you knew how to cook . The atmosphere was wonderful and they spent a lot of money on that but they should spend it on the food . We were not expecting much of a drive in restaurant, and the menu was all the standard drive in food. But what we got was anything but standard. The burgers were nice and large, of good beef, cooked perfectly, and served on an excellent bun. The fries were excellent and not greasy. And then there are the ice cream sundaes. Came here today after the longest day of driving! Such a cool spot. They have an ice cream parlor, two dining rooms, and also have carhop service! We decided to sit inside and got a burger (good), a crispy chicken sandwich (also good), fries (great) and a malted black and white shake, which was my favorite part . Malted shakes are the best!!! Seemed like there were only two servers for the whole place but we didn't wait long at all before being seated or fed. Our waitress was VERY nice, which i was so happy with after eating at places with shitty service the past two days of our vacation. Definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

But today, we went to the dump at about noon, just before heading back to Boston, and we decided to try Fast Eddie's. It was awesome--the menu, the prices, the service, the food. Chaos, that's the only way to describe it, they have no system to keep track of customers, they have no way to distinguish who needs to order, who has been waiting the longest, even where the order goes. I have only been twice, first time, waited a VERY long time just to get someone to acknowledge we were there. She told us to yell next time, um, no, Im not gonna do that. We waited a long time for our food, it was ok, my husband ordered the seafood platter, they had no scallops so gave him a couple extra shrimp instead, not really a good trade off, should've offered a discount. I got the swiss burger which was good but not cooked thru. Been there twice since moving to my new home and have been satisfied with the meal each time. Still haven't had a chance to try their famous homemade ice cream, since the quantity of food in the main meal didn't leave room for dessert. But the fried foods we enjoyed were crisp and greaseless (relatively), and my buger (though I ordered the blue cheese and bacon burger but was served a regular bacon cheeseburger, and the initial wait was long enough that I didn't want to wait for a refire) was juicy, fresh and flavorful. I am glad that I was only passing through, because I would not come back. It took quite a few minutes to be waited on, even though there were only two other tables of folks already served . I ordered the lobster roll, which was good, but had a ridiculous amount of lobster on a tiny roll. Incredibly messy to eat. I asked for a dip of peanut butter Oreo in a dish for dessert. I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally I got up and said I will just pay my bill. The server, who was standing there talking to another girl, said your fried Oreos will be ready in a minute. I told her I didn't even order fried Oreos I ordered a dip of ice cream. So another server apologized for the mistake, and said I could just have them. She went back to get them, and they hadn't even started making them! Who knows what had been going on that whole time I was waiting. Good food! The lobster roll is not really a "roll", more of a hamburger bun. The onion rings are wonderful!. Prices reasonable, but go for the ice cream. Cheap, excellent quality, huge portions.
