Absolute horrible and tasteless crab cake sandwich
    Brittni M.

Just had the worst crab cake I've ever had. Absolutely no flavor and the macaroni salad tasted so sour I had to spit it out.

    Mushy crabs

I visited Fat Boys Crab House today to celebrate a birthday, and what should have been a festive occasion turned into the absolute worst experience I have ever had at an establishment in this area. We ordered a substantial meal for three people: two crab dips, one pound of shrimp, multiple cocktails, and a dozen and a half crabs. Out of the 18 crabs we paid for, 14 of them were completely mushy. During our initial exchange, the employees actually admitted to us that they had been receiving a lot of complaints recently for this exact same issue. While the floor manager went above and beyond to try and resolve the issue by replacing some of the crabs, the second batch was unfortunately just as bad. When we asked to speak to the owner, the situation deteriorated rapidly. As DMV natives, we know our crabs. Yet, this man came over to our table wearing gloves, began aggressively picking through our food, and literally threw the crabs back onto the tray at us while defensively claiming they were not mushy. When we tried to express our concerns, he repeatedly spoke over us and eventually just walked off mid-conversation, completely dismissing us. When I asked for his name, he refused, stating, "I am not giving you my name, I don't have to." To make matters worse, other regular patrons who witnessed the entire interaction approached us afterward. They pointed out a deeply disturbing pattern: that this owner does not treat Caucasian patrons this way, but regularly treats Black patrons with blatant disrespect. When he was confronted about this biased treatment, he outright said to us: "Don't come at me with that black people shit." We left 14 out of the 18 crabs we paid for completely untouched. No refund, discount, or accommodation was provided for the inedible food or the egregious hostility we experienced. While the floor staff tried their best, the behavior of the owner is utterly unacceptable, unprofessional, and discriminatory. I strongly advise anyone, especially Black patrons looking for a welcoming environment, to spend their hard-earned money elsewhere. This establishment does not deserve your business under its current ownership.

This was my first visit to the "house" i've been to their other location which is the "shack" I believe. Other than it getting little confusing on whether or not we had a server this was a decent spot to grabs some seafood. We asked when we came in do we seat ourselves and they said yes but after some time of sitting at our table we quickly realized no one was coming. We went to the bar and asked if a server would be coming and were told we would need to put our order in with the bar. After a family was seated behind us we watched as someone came right over and took their order. I opted for the cream of crab soup and crab cake egg rolls which were both pretty good. I also gave the steak and cheese a try which was surprisingly decent. I would revisit this spot with family. Its a very relaxed atmosphere so comfy casual wear is acceptable.

I ordered 1/2 dozen crabs. I only ate 2 and like 8 claws in one setting. The crabs were so meaty and so were the claws.

My waiter/bartender was cool quick and accurate. The food was quick fresh and worth my dime. My usual preference is the shack but I came to the house today. I'm very satisfied!

Fat Boys Crabs in Crofton gives off a strong neighborhood bar vibe, you know another CHEEERS spot. The bartender was friendly, which helped, because the menu itself wasn't exactly throwing a party. The only thing that caught my attention was their margarita which was their house version, cutely named the Sea-Rita. For some reason it wasn't even part of the happy hour deal. Their happy hour drink selection includes Tito's handmade vodka, white tea, green tea, Tullamore D.E.W., crushes, draft beers, and half off glasses of house wine. Respectable, sure, but nothing to text your group chat about. The HH food lineup? Crab pretzel, mussels, fried or grilled wings, a quarter pound of steamed shrimp, and two fish tacos. None of it hit the spot for me then, and flipping through the menu again now, I still feel the same. I've never had a crab pretzel worth a second bite, and I didn't get the sense this place would change my mind. The prices didn't scream happy hour either. One win? Their happy hour runs from 3:00 to 7:00, which I actually liked. That extra hour at the front and back gives you more wiggle room to show up fashionably early or stick around just a little longer there's traffic can be horrific around that time getting there in that area. I stopped in because my wax appointment got pushed back and this spot was on the way. Plus, they had a giant sign outside that mentioned happy hour, and I was on a mission for one. I was also chasing a full moon view over the water, looking for a little magic. Instead, I found a margarita that wasn't on special and a menu I politely declined. This felt like a one and done type of deal. But I love that there are places people can go for happy hour and seafood. The decor was cute inside and I did like the bright colorful happy hour chalkboard sign upon walking in.

Always my family's fav spot to grab seafood. The crabs here are always meaty and delicious. My personal fav is the firecracker shrimp (with the sauce on the side). I have to have it every time I dine here. The staff in the front and the waiters are always so friendly. I love the bartenders. They make the best drinks. I've never had an issue here with food, drinks, or service. As you can see by all the pics I've posted, we love it here.

Attitude of manager. Policy on refund or replacement of bad items. I was told that these were ok to eat my the manager that refused to take them back.

    Horrible service I'll never return

Trash trash trash And we saw a roach on the wall Crabs were horrible service was horrible so disappointed Unfortunately I started at mikes and they were sold out so I came here but NEVER AGAIN EVER I was by myself went to pay off my tab at the bar had my drink and crabs left on table my coat still hanging on chair I come back the guy has pushed my coat to the table next to mine and is cleaning my got damn table which still had a cocktail and drink on it

My last time patronizing Fat Boys! If it's one thing I hate, it's being sold empty crabs. Too hit or miss, as 3 out of the half dozen were empty. No respect for the customers when you're told they're not responsible for 'light' crabs. However it's my responsibility to keep my coins in my pocket. Crabs at the Crab Galley were much better.

Food was hot and good. My only complaint was that my cod fish sandwich arrived with no tarter sauce or condiments on it; just a slice of fish on a toasted bun; I found this extremely strange. The kettle chips with old bay were very yummy. The service was quick.

There was only one server and a bartender, and there were a lot of patrons however she was so great. The table had shrimp cocktail (no lemon wedge ), crab balls, prime rib, potato salad, coleslaw, a crabcake sandwich (GIGANTIC), and crab imperial. Everything was delicious! We had to get dessert to go bc the portions were gigantic and we were FULL. The rice pudding and the strawberry cheesecake were EXCELLENT! 2 things: - the shrimp cocktail did not have lemon wedges. However, the cocktail sauce had such a good flavor with the right amount of horseradish, so that made up for the lack of lemon wedge. I know I probably could have asked for one, but it was just so good either way. - the au jus that came with the prime rib tasted like A1 steak sauce. I am used to a traditional au jus. However, the prime rib as AMAZING, it didn't need sauce!!!! The lounge area was like a typical bar with sports showing and betting on screen. It was welcoming and great. Thank you, Ramonia! I hope that is her name because that is what I just saw on the receipt. Everything came out fast. The service was excellent. Food divine. I am most definitely going again.

My friend's daughter took home the coconut cake and said it was YUMMY !!! I give CINDY 5 stars for making our dining experience FANTASTIC!! Otherwise, it was SUPER LOUD in the dining room. I was a first timer and she's been once before. Given the name, I figured it was a seafood restaurant. Although some seafood is on the menu, Pier 99 is primarily a Sushi/Asian food restaurant. I think a name change should be in order.. Lol! I literally had to switch up my taste buds to partake in some sushi! I ordered a seafood boil because I couldn't switch them up fast enough while she ordered sushi. I actually love the concept because so many people aren't sushi fans but most folks get down with seafood! The food was actually good and they pulled off both cuisines effortlessly! My margarita was as good as any chain Mexican restaurant, so that was additional plus given the Mexican holiday. The interior is on the smaller side, however, they offer booth seating and it has a decent size bar. If I lived in the Upper Marlboro/Bowie area like I used to, I'd come here often but since I don't, I'll occasionally stop in when I'm in the area! Good job Pier 99!

For the amount of money that a party could spend on crabs, drinks, you name it, I think it is highly inappropriate for a server to not be attentive to the table as a whole - just not when they are dropping and leaving items at the table. A $100+ priced table I'm talking about. But aside from that, the food itself was delicious. Their calamari might be one of the best I've had in the state. Their grilled wings were delicious too, actually giving that named grilled flavor. 5 stars would've been great, but... come to my table to get your 5 stars. I would also think, that if someone is not coming to my table and ultimately looking for a tip to leave with, if there is nothing to tip for... I would think that the business as a whole, would lose traction - from server employment and satisfaction, to the overall Crab Shack income.

Yes, be prepared for the prices. A lot of the menu is listed as market price, and you may have a little "ooh!" moment when you see the bill . But the quality absolutely matched the price. This was the kind of food that makes you want to go back in the kitchen and slap the chef -- respectfully, of course! We started with the complimentary sourdough bread, followed by the Cream of Crab Soup, which was hands down one of the best I've ever had. Creamy, flavorful, and seasoned perfectly. The Crab Dip was phenomenal too. You could actually TASTE the crab instead of a bunch of filler. Hubby and I both went for the famous Crab Bombs. I had the Baby Bomb with shrimp, and it was more than enough food. Hubby had the full Crab Bomb, and we both ended up leaving with doggy bags. The crab cakes were packed with REAL crab and NO FILLER, which we absolutely appreciated. Even the coleslaw tasted homemade from scratch, and as an Old Bay lover, I appreciated having Old Bay right on the table so I could add a little extra seasoning. My only warning: come prepared for the price. It is definitely on the expensive side, but we didn't mind paying for it because the portions were generous and the seafood quality was excellent. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? ABSOLUTELY. Shout out to the chef! We will definitely be back!
