    Chicago dog, NO KETCHUP!
    Jacob R.

Went for the tom tom tamales and figured id try the beef sandwich and Chicago dog. Both did not disappoint! My mother is born and raised Chicago and makes a mean Italian beef as well and she approves! We'll be back for sure! Oh yeah fries were nice and crispy too! Can't wait to try the tamales and tiramisu next time! Love the classic style Chicago ambiance mixed with the "updated" Florida storefronts. Thanks Lou & crew!

Just had my first experience at Fat Lou's today for lunch. I live in Plantation and found it by chance on Instagram. I walked in at @ 1:30 and the place was packed! 3 people working. First thing I thought was - this is gonna be a while. No way. They pumped out the orders quick and organized and I was blown away. Place is spotless clean with a complete Chicago feel. I got a Maxwell St. Polish Sausage and Italian Beef. BOTH WERE AWESOME. Great friendly service too! I live 2 miles from here and it's a hidden gem that I'll be back to weekly.

    Outstanding authentic Italian Beef

Hot Dog Heaven is a Fort Lauderdale institution. Founded in 1979 by Chicago natives Barry and…read morePamela Star, the tiny stand brought an authentic taste of the Windy City to South Florida. They served authentic Vienna Beef Chicago with mustard, relish, pickles, tomatoes, celery salt, and sport peppers on a poppy seed bun. In the 1980s, they purchased the modest 780-square-foot building that still houses the restaurant today. Back then, a Chicago dog cost just $1.45. When the Stars finally retired, it looked like Hot Dog Heaven might disappear forever. Fortunately, Joe Barra stepped in to keep the legend alive. Rather than reinventing the place, he kept everything exactly the way people loved it. The menu remains a tribute to classic Chicago street food. You can still order a dog topped with mustard, grilled onions, and sauerkraut, or go for chili and chopped onions. If you want the full Illinois experience, there's the classic Chicago dog piled high with mustard, onions, neon relish, tomatoes, pickles, celery salt, and sport peppers. The menu also includes Chicago-style Italian beef sandwiches, sausage and peppers heroes, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. I ordered the Polish sausage with mustard, grilled onions, and hot peppers. The fries arrived hot, crispy, and perfectly crinkle-cut the way God intended. After I finished my sandwich, only one thought came to mind: Dang, that was good. The bun really makes it. This is old school comfort food done right. Prices aren't what they were in 1979. My Polish sausage and fries came to about $13, but it was worth every penny. Inside is tight with stools at the counter along the window, but there are three tables out front where you can enjoy your meal while watching the parade of traffic roar down Sunrise Boulevard. For over 40 years Hot dog Heaven has been serving up exactly what the community is craving. When was the last time you visited this iconic stand?

I did a quick search of the area and Hot Dog Heaven, a place I had marked to visit some day, was near by. Online it looked like you could order ahead, but decided to try my luck ordering in person. I arrived to a place that had a handful of customers all in different phases of ordering or waiting for their food. I'm sure it helped that I was hungry, but I ordered fast. 2 dogs to go and the philly steak egg rolls. I had asked, "what's good to eat in the car on the way home?",, a couple people said the egg rolls. They were right. I don't know how they make them, but I would swear they were made in house. Great beef. The hot dogs made it safely home. a tasty Chicago dog and a Polish sausage. the latter was the winner, with its shrooms and sautéed onions. I'm surprised it took me this long to stop in, but it won't be long till I'm back.

This time, I ordered two Grande Burger Plus burgers because I honestly couldn't settle for just one and I'm glad I didn't. They were absolutely amazing. The flavors are bold, unique, and packed into every bite, making these burgers truly one of a kind. What really stands out about this place is the Latin atmosphere. It brings a lively, authentic vibe that makes the experience even more enjoyable. You can tell there's a lot of culture and passion behind the food, and it shows in both the taste and presentation. The staff is always friendly, smiling, and genuinely happy to have you there, which makes a big difference. It's the kind of place where you feel welcomed every time you walk in. Overall, La Perrada Company never disappoints. Great food, great energy, and a spot I'll definitely continue coming back to for years to come.

This is Cincinnati chili and some don't like it but I think it's great. The Coney dogs are the way to experience it!! Loaded with tons of shredded cheese, don't sleep on their hot sauce it backs some heat! Always great service, they prepare it in front of you and it has an old school nostalgia to it. Kids got cheese fries! I don't recommend because the cheese they melt on it is shredded and doesn't melt well. They have a lot of chili dishes on the menu.

At this…read morepoint it feels less like a restaurant and more like a life decision I made years ago and just stuck with. They've been here for 40 years, and that kind of longevity doesn't happen unless you're doing something very right. The formula is simple. No frills, no gimmicks, just food that shows up and delivers every single time. And a staff that runs the place like they've got a sixth sense for when you need more cheese or another napkin. Tonight I went with my usual, the five-way. Spaghetti, chili, beans, onions, and enough cheddar cheese to make a cardiologist raise an eyebrow. It comes out looking like a beautiful mess. Like if comfort food and chaos had a baby. One bite in and suddenly you understand all your past decisions and forgive yourself for most of them. Add a splash of their hot sauce and now we're cooking with purpose. Brought my mom for her first visit and she went with the chicken tenders and fries. I expected polite bites. Maybe a "this is nice." Instead, she absolutely crushed the plate like she was in a competitive eating league I didn't know she joined. Her review was "this is really good," which in mom terms is basically a standing ovation. Then we made the bold, courageous choice to order funnel fries for dessert. Were we full? Yes. Did that stop us? Not even a little. Crispy, sugary, and worth every single regret we don't actually have. We left full, happy, and walking slightly slower than when we came in, which feels like the correct pace after a meal like this. Pro tip: go large so you've got leftovers. Nothing hits harder than opening the fridge later and realizing past you had your back. And grab a bottle of their hot sauce on the way out. Fair warning, you will start putting it on things that have no business being that good. Five stars!
