We came into Philadelphia to have dinner with our Goddaughter and searched Yelp for a great spot in her area. We landed on Fat Moon and--omgosh--what a fantastic choice! The food was absolutely amazing, the atmosphere was very cool, and the service was wonderful. We arrived during happy hour, so of course we took full advantage. The dumplings were out-of-this-world good--I honestly could've made a whole meal out of them. The cauliflower bites were also delicious. For my entrée, I had the salmon teriyaki, and it was incredibly flavorful. They also have a full bar, which is always a plus. Parking was easy with several garages close by. Fat Moon is a hidden-gem destination that deserves its flowers for both a delicious menu and a team that works overtime on entertainment. While I've only visited twice, it's been clear the love their staff provides in engaging with each customer. The menu is a mix of Asian-American dishes with a bar flair, including dine-in on traditional tables and at their bar. I thoroughly enjoy their Signature Fried Rice, which you can also add a protein for extra $$. This time, I dined with three friends (of which two are regulars!) and had the luxury of tasting some of their best cooking. The Firecracker Chicken lives up to its name in spice, and the only drawback with the Golden Biscuits is that there's not enough of them. A big incentive to visit and try their food is their weekly bingo, occasional karaoke, and watch parties for all Philly sports. While normally laid-back, the atmosphere accommodates all food lovers and those seeking an elite bar scene. Fat Moon Restaurant and Bar hides an incredibly cozy and aesthetic interior behind its unassuming, brick exterior. They've got fried bar food down to a science and I'd highly recommend their Asian-American fusion entrees! They also have different fun daily events- I'd highly recommend Tuesday night Bingo! --- Fat Moon Restaurant and Bar is one of the few places in Philadelphia I am a regular at. The food is exactly what I'd want to eat with a drink in hand- it's deep fried to perfection, rich, and delicious. The first time I dined here I didn't expect much, but was blown away. Then and consistently now, the service is especially fast, the servers are incredibly friendly and attentive, and it is typically pretty laid back and quiet (volume-wise) unless there is karaoke, a game, or evening programming happening. The interior is very clean and has some tables along with bar seating. The men and women's bathrooms are incredibly clean, as well. Fat Moon offers Happy Hour deals on weekdays from 5-7 PM Mon-Wed and from 3-7 PM Thurs-Fri. They're open from pretty early all weekdays to late night every day. They host Bingo on Tuesdays, and some Wednesdays. (I'd recommend checking their Instagram for the latest schedule of events.) The Bingo is really fun, and I am on a quest to win! The current prize is Peelerz snacks and a free drink. The crowd is always a lot of fun, and it's the best part of my week. Currently, I'm on a quest to try everything on the menu. Personally, I think their entree and rice/noodle dishes are tastier than their appetizers. I've tried about half of the food menu and here are my favorites, in order: (1) Honey walnut shrimp; (2) spicy scallion noodles; (3-tied) Asian golden biscuit, and (3-tied) signature fried rice; and, (5-tied) dynamite shrimp and (5-tied) Mongolian beef. The shrimp are pretty jumbo and a fairly generous amount is given. The noodles are very flavorful and thick. The fried rice is chef's kiss perfection. I genuinely love the food! It really hits the spot. My only complaint is I wish there were more vegetarian options (e.g. tofu). Some honorable food mentions: (1) chicken katsu curry, (2) lemon chicken pop, (3) hot and sour soup, and (4) cheese fries. The katsu curry feels very homey and is a huge portion. The lemon chicken pop is highly recommended if you're there for happy hour. The hot and sour soup is a massive portion if you get the large (~ 10 small bowls) and comes with bamboo and black fungus. The cheese fries once again prove that Fat Moon has deep frying down to a science, and is crispy perfection. I can't really recommend their (1) crab rangoons- only 4 pieces/$10 but tasty, (2) chili garlic cucumber salad- too overwhelmingly sweet for me, and (3) fat moon chicken- very divisive dish for my party since I felt it was too rich and creamy for my taste, but others loved it. For me, any restaurant can serve good food but not many can feel cozy and inviting. The owner Bill, the Bingo host Z, and the servers are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a new bar or restaurant to give Fat Moon a try! I hope you'll love it as much as I do! read more

This is an Asian food paradise in what I would describe as a neighborhood corner bar setting! We had the cheese steak egg rolls and the Mongolian beef with fried rice - everything was delicious and we would happily order those items again! It was karaoke night (Friday around 8 pm) and it was REALLY loud which we didn't love, hence 4 stars instead of 5, but I'd say my true rating is a 4.75 star. I had been wanting to try this place for a while. It did not disappoint. The kimchi fries are good and worth a try. For my entree, I ordered the Fat Moon Chicken which was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The curry sauce does have coconut milk it in which I'm not into, so I'll order a different dish next time. I also ordered a "small" hot and sour soup which came out after my entree did which was odd but fine. It turned out to be very generously portioned. Usually, a small is a "cup" while a large is a "bowl." This one was a large bowl. I ended up having to get it packed to go. Family owned restaurant in Spring Garden. I ordered the scallion noodles with chicken. I was able to change the spice levels to my liking. We also got the pan fried dumplings. Everything was great and came out quickly. The staff there is very friendly and attentive. They also have happy hour Monday through Friday, karaoke and open mic nights open. I didn't get any alcoholic drinks here but they do have a liquor license. I would definitely come here again. I came here last Sunday to watch the Eagles game with my family. Bill and Tyler were super nice and accommodating. They brought us an order of complimentary fries for my kids. Happened to wander upon Fat Moon the day of their soft opening, when its incredible owners were standing outside putting up signage. Was then invited to the soft opening where I had the Egg Yolk Seaweed Chips, Honey Walnut Butter Shrimp with rice, and the Kimchi Fries. Where I fell in love with the egg yolk seaweed chips. Along with the meal I got a free karaoke show, which they will begin doing after 10pm! I came back opening day, April 1st, 2024, for lunch and had the Stir-Fry Noodles with Spicy Scallion, which was my favorite main dish that I've had so far! Plus, I suggested they try a kimchi fried chicken sandwich using the kimchi they use for the kimchi fries and they made it for me lol (that is the pic I labeled as the secret test item) You never know it might be on the menu some day . This is really the hidden gem of Philly!! We are from the Netherlands and visiting Philly for five days, we literally fell upon this bar on the way to our Airb&b apartment. Tonight was our second visit in two days and the food is consistently good, the menu has great options, spicy and mild or non spicy!! The chicken wings are to die for, the salmon is excellent and the creamy bacon pasta with chicken was delicious !! Make it for the happy hour and you have a wonderful deal!! This bar is deceptive from the outside but once inside you will find a modern clean and fresh restaurant/bar that is inviting and fresh, with a wonderful friendly atmosphere! Stopped by to check out this new restaurant and was not disappointed. Was greeted by the friendly staff right when we walked in the door. Service was very quick and attentive and was checked up on throughout the night. We ordered the Co-La wings, Fat moon chicken and spicy scallion noodles with shrimp. The wings were so crispy and juicy coated with a sweet and savory sauce. The fat moon chicken was tossed in a salty egg yolk cream sauce and paired perfectly with white rice to balance the taste. The scallion noodles are a must order. Thick cut noodles mixed in a spicy sauce and the shrimps were cooked to perfection. The bar was not open at the time I went, but I will definitely be back to check it out and order more food! Can't wait to try the shrimp toast and kimchi fries next time! Ordered takeout overall food tasted good I had the Salmon Bake and shared with my roommate. Unfortunately some of the vegetables were undercooked and I did not find the smell all that appetizing my roommate did so I'll leave it up to personal preference but moving past the those things we were able to enjoy a good portion of it with some left over. Two of us had a delicious early dinner at Fat Moon. It was a couple blocks walk from where we're staying and easy to find. We started with Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls, followed by Beef with Eggplant with garlic rice and Garlic Noodles with chicken. All very tasty, and the service was attentive and prompt. The restaurant was not at all busy, probably because it was before 5 pm, the restaurant only opened recently and didn't yet have a liquor license. Nice interior, all fresh and clean. Stopped in at Fat Moon for dinner after reading their menu posted at the door. (Entrance is on 15th Street below Callowhill). We were greeted immediately, and were told to sit wherever we liked. We were quickly given menus and our drinks came shortly after that. I had my heart set on trying the Peking Duck rolls, but they were unfortunately sold out. I selected the Cheesesteak egg rolls, and they were amazing! They were served with a Sriracha mayo and a portion of ketchup for dipping. For the entree, I had the Honey Walnut Shrimp. It was a great portion, served with rice and broccoli, and I loved it! All the food was fresh, was quickly served, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Give it a try sometime!
