We came in as a group for dinner while in town for the holiday. The dinner was set up as a buffet of several different foods. We had two different kinds of chicken wings, fried rice, calamari, and fried cauliflower. The restaurant did not have any chafing dish options so by the time I got some food, it was cold. The staff was helpful and it's a fun place for karaoke, but the experience didn't seem very special.

    Brick exterior of Fat Moon

Fat Moon Restaurant and Bar hides an incredibly cozy and aesthetic interior behind its unassuming, brick exterior. They've got fried bar food down to a science and I'd highly recommend their Asian-American fusion entrees! They also have different fun daily events- I'd highly recommend Tuesday night Bingo! --- Fat Moon Restaurant and Bar is one of the few places in Philadelphia I am a regular at. The food is exactly what I'd want to eat with a drink in hand- it's deep fried to perfection, rich, and delicious. The first time I dined here I didn't expect much, but was blown away. Then and consistently now, the service is especially fast, the servers are incredibly friendly and attentive, and it is typically pretty laid back and quiet (volume-wise) unless there is karaoke, a game, or evening programming happening. The interior is very clean and has some tables along with bar seating. The men and women's bathrooms are incredibly clean, as well. Fat Moon offers Happy Hour deals on weekdays from 5-7 PM Mon-Wed and from 3-7 PM Thurs-Fri. They're open from pretty early all weekdays to late night every day. They host Bingo on Tuesdays, and some Wednesdays. (I'd recommend checking their Instagram for the latest schedule of events.) The Bingo is really fun, and I am on a quest to win! The current prize is Peelerz snacks and a free drink. The crowd is always a lot of fun, and it's the best part of my week. Currently, I'm on a quest to try everything on the menu. Personally, I think their entree and rice/noodle dishes are tastier than their appetizers. I've tried about half of the food menu and here are my favorites, in order: (1) Honey walnut shrimp; (2) spicy scallion noodles; (3-tied) Asian golden biscuit, and (3-tied) signature fried rice; and, (5-tied) dynamite shrimp and (5-tied) Mongolian beef. The shrimp are pretty jumbo and a fairly generous amount is given. The noodles are very flavorful and thick. The fried rice is chef's kiss perfection. I genuinely love the food! It really hits the spot. My only complaint is I wish there were more vegetarian options (e.g. tofu). Some honorable food mentions: (1) chicken katsu curry, (2) lemon chicken pop, (3) hot and sour soup, and (4) cheese fries. The katsu curry feels very homey and is a huge portion. The lemon chicken pop is highly recommended if you're there for happy hour. The hot and sour soup is a massive portion if you get the large (~ 10 small bowls) and comes with bamboo and black fungus. The cheese fries once again prove that Fat Moon has deep frying down to a science, and is crispy perfection. I can't really recommend their (1) crab rangoons- only 4 pieces/$10 but tasty, (2) chili garlic cucumber salad- too overwhelmingly sweet for me, and (3) fat moon chicken- very divisive dish for my party since I felt it was too rich and creamy for my taste, but others loved it. For me, any restaurant can serve good food but not many can feel cozy and inviting. The owner Bill, the Bingo host Z, and the servers are all incredibly friendly and welcoming. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a new bar or restaurant to give Fat Moon a try! I hope you'll love it as much as I do!

Food: didnt order that much food but the cocktails were SO good perfect ratios not too sweet, not too strong but can definitely taste the alcohol Atmosphere: such a cute cozy vibe, can go to watch sports games or just hang at the bar Service: fast, nice servers attentive. Tips: no need for reservations usually, they dont do karaoke all the time Can just order food and no drinks for a good asian fusion meal

Fat Moon is a fun bar and hangout spot with a surprisingly unique menu. It goes beyond typical bar fare, offering dishes like creamy udon noodles and katsu curry chicken--unexpected yet delightful. A huge karaoke screen and stage at the front adds to the lively atmosphere. The decor is cute and has a space/sky theme, fitting the "Fat Moon" name. Located near the city center, prices are average for the area. The cocktails lean towards the sweeter side (my partner enjoyed them, but I opted for gin rickys). The crowd is always diverse as far as ages, and the atmosphere is very casual and welcoming.

Came here on a Sunday night and it was the perfect place to host a group celebration. We did catering from Fat Moon and the food was delicious! Very flavorful and unique compared to other bars. Shoutout to the staff and bartender for their generosity and putting up with our loud karaoke-singing crew. They are super attentive and made our experience the best. It felt like family. Bonus: huge projector at the front of the restaurant to watch the games (or karaoke).

Pretty good standard food. Hope they do well Once they get their liquor license could be a fun bar spot or karaoke

Family owned restaurant in Spring Garden. I ordered the scallion noodles with chicken. I was able to change the spice levels to my liking. We also got the pan fried dumplings. Everything was great and came out quickly. The staff there is very friendly and attentive. They also have happy hour Monday through Friday, karaoke and open mic nights open. I didn't get any alcoholic drinks here but they do have a liquor license. I would definitely come here again. Definitely check this place out with friends if you're looking for a new place to try.

The owner was really nice. Servers are very attentive and constantly refilled my drinks without me having to ask. My cheesesteak egg rolls were good. My entree was also tasty but the star of the show was the garlic fried rice!

What a wonderful hidden gem. The owners of this place really make you feel like family when you come in. Very warm and happy place. Absolutely loved the kimchi fries, as well as the cheesesteak egg rolls. We got the crab fried rice and it was great.

Great food and nice ambiance! They had some interesting menu items that are fat moon specialties and some more classic well known dishes. The happy hour menu also looks pretty good!

Nice food, friendly owner. Brand new place, don't have liquor license yet. Great spicy shrimp, amazing crunchy French fries.

This time I went with my mom and her boyfriend and we all loved the food and left with our bellies full! Our server was very attentive to us, kept our drinks filled, cleared our table of dirty plates quickly, and didn't make us feel rushed or pressured at all. We were disappointed to see that there was no soft shell crab, honey-coconut shrimp, or egg custard dim sum (all of which were present during my first visit and I was looking forward to) but given how wonderful everything else was, it wasn't a big deal The building was still crowded even though we went on a Tuesday evening, but I hear on weekends the line can be out the door so in comparison to that it sounds like we avoided most of the crowd. There were consistently workers keeping the food stocked and the building clean aswell. Despite the mild disappointment of my second visit, I'll still be returning and continuing to recommend this place to friends and family :)

We were there on a Monday at about 4 p.m.. I was very disappointed to find no whole Maine lobsters, the reason for me taking her there. They changed the policy to weekends and holidays only for the whole lobster. Granted they still had lobster, but as a Ginger Scallion Stirfry dish. The lobster was cut into small pieces, which were overcooked and tough and dry. The sauce makes it much messier to eat. I didn't care for it at all. The huge jumbo crabs I'd seen on my previous visit, on this visit were very small. I was rather embarrassed, as I'd talked it up so much to my sister and I promised to take her there for her birthday. I was sorry she did not get to experience the same experience I'd had a month before. Yes, there are still many options to choose from. That was not the issue. When you have expectations of something and are letdown, that's a disappointment. The food was still pretty good.

I come here for happy hour every now and then because the prices are really great, and both the food and drinks are delicious. We started with the specialty cocktail and the Thai Punch, and both were really good. They had fruity undertones, and the alcohol wasn't overpowering at all -- I could easily have a few of these. For food, we got a few orders of the kung pao chicken wings. They were perfectly crispy with a really flavorful glaze. The portion size was also very generous, especially for the happy hour price. These are a great example of Asian-style fried chicken wings done right. I definitely want to come back and try their full dinner menu since I've only been here for happy hour so far. I might be getting old because I find myself wanting more lighting lol Service is spectacular and if it's your first time here they'll fully explain their menu and recommendations. This time our server explained the tasting course, but we decided to order a la carte. A refreshing Ming Mule came out first and it was just what I needed after being inside of a stadium on a 100 degree day. We also ordered an order of the pork bao which was so tasty. You can never go wrong with a pork belly appetizer and each order comes with two. The shrimp pad Thai had all the flavors you expect from a classic pad Thai but with their own twist. The Szechuan chicken was crispy and had sweet notes. Definitely two great picks. Opted out from dessert because we were so stuffed but they have a great ice cream cone option if you are in the mood.

The food is Korean-inspired with some fusion elements, and all of it was nicely executed. Fried chicken bites were a pretty big hit, and the pork buns were good as well - crispier than usual, but still really good. Toppoki was nice too, and have to say that calling it rice gnocchi is pretty smart to make it easier to understand outside the Asian POV. Kimchi paella was essentially kimchi fried rice, but tasty and filling, and the scrape off parts at the bottom, that's rice gold right there. I don't always eat rice, but when I do, I prefer slightly burnt at the bottom of a stone pot. Second visit, I went with fire chicken, which is tasty and has some kick. I did notice that my not Asian colleague was asked if he was sure about the three fire symbols, but I was not :P Space is pretty nice inside too, a nice combination of old and new; the bathroom was nice and clean, and the general feel inside is casual but elegant. I wouldn't be opposed to returning, but would need to know much more about allergy protocols and awareness, which admittedly isn't always a strong point in Asian cuisine.
