Chicago is blessed by having a great many places to have a decent "Chicago Style" Hot Dog. Fatso makes an acceptable Chicago style hot dog, but the lack of attention to the details, is a fatal flaw. I got a double char dog. It was certainly a double char dog, but it also was very soggy. The bun simply disintegrated. I did get it to go, but I didn't wait very long to eat it. It looks like they didn't take the time to "dry" many of the toppings. I have never seen this degree of disintegration of a bun. The French Fries were, at best, average and tried to make up the lack of quality with quantity. The next result was a great many very short fry pieces (1/2 inch?). Fewer fries that are better prepared would have been better. And they were a bit undercooked. What saved them from a one start review, is that the milk shakes were actually drinkable, of a consistency that could actually be drunk through a straw. The real annoyance, however, were the "fees". Instead of reprinting/changing the menu board, they tacked 50 cent per item surcharge without any regard for the item. Thus, for example, a far more expensive pound of shrimp had the same surcharge as a milkshake (which sold for less than half the price). Further, and this was not stated anywhere that I could see it, orders sold "to go" were the subject of a "to go" surcharge fee. So, I guess they want me "to go" and I won't be back. Don't nickle and time us to death (okay 4 bit us to death) put honest prices on the menu. read more

Came to get a pick-up order. The person making the food at the grill AND the sandwich line had a mask on but it was down around his chin. Nose and mouth not covered. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there was no manager there and that he did not have to wear a mask because he works over the heat of the grill. I should say this is kind of my fault for being lazy and trying Ubereats instead of just picking up our food. Of course Ubereats managed to lose the entire meal....yes they lost my meal in transit. So I decided to head over there (which is what I should have in the first place) and place my order in person. Chris earned Fatso's a very loyal customer after this experience. I have driven past their other location for years, always saying "next time maybe I will give it a try". Well, those were wasted years. Long have I yearned to find a place that does simple fast food well and with care. I have now been here three times this month, and can't wait for an excuse to go back. It is mostly burgers and fries, but they actually *make* every order fresh and to your specs! Sure, it's not perfect - I believe there were a couple rotting potatoes in their open dry storage in the dining room, but at least it proves that the make their own fries(?). Some day I will wait the 18 minutes for one of their monster signature burgers, though I may have to run a 5K first. read more

Fatso's Last Stand is not a ordinary fast food restaurant you can have. The menu in here is absolutely incredible. Big loaded burgers filled with beef, fried shrimp and chicken that are all so good. Various hot dogs and sausages, mac and cheese, side orders like fresh cut fries and deep fried pickles, different flavors of shake and even menu for kids that has incredibly delicious taste. Aside from having delicious menu, food in here are served quickly. These are all everything you want to grab in a fast food. Additionally, they offer delivery, curbside pickup, indoor dining, takeout and outdoor seating. They also follow health and safety measures that comes with good customer service. read more

I've been to the other Fato's location in Ukrainian Village and loved the food, but it was always a little out of the way for me and a little to small and dark. So, it goes without saying, that I was very excited about Fatso's opening new location closer to me in Lincoln Park. The food is still excellent, and the new location has a few features that the location in the Ukrainian Village lacks. First, when I visted the location in Ukrainian Village Fatso's was cash only, but the Lincoln Park location takes credit cards. I'm not sure if the Ukrainian Village location is still cash only, but I'm just glad the Lincoln Park location takes credit cards. Next, this location is bright, clean and spacious. The food is pretty the same and it is delicious. My go order at Frato's is the double Fatso with Cheese and fries. Putting a fried egg on top is optional, but always a great idea. The burger is nothing short of a that special kind of messy delicious. While the fires are good, they are nothing special. They can be a bit soggy. However were the fried lack in crispiness, they are a great value. You get a brown bag overflowing with one regular order of fries. You get a lot for your money. This location of Frato's carrie on the tradition of one of Chicago's great hot dog and burger shacks. read more

Wiener Circle isn't that far away. This place..,okay the shrimp were ok but..and the cookies and cream shake, but the burger, fries, and tough! hot dog were terrible! I'll be back! We went here to get a quick comfort food dinner and were very pleased! I ordered the Char Cheddar Dog w/ fries and enjoyed it (Merkt's cheddar makes everything better). My husband got the Fatso burger with Fatso sauce which I will absolutely try next time, it looked delicious and they had an award inside from the 2019 Roscoe Village Burger Fest! We split cheese fries which we really didn't need because SOOO many fries came with my Dog, we went overboard with the fries. Took a chocolate milkshake to go and this was exactly the dinner I needed. Employees were super friendly from the cashier to the line cooks. The space is clean and modern. I've ordered here a few times. While the food is good, I've had other issues with this place: the last couple times I ordered take out, they messed up the order (but not that big a deal. It happens). This time they got the order right, but there was plastic in my mac and cheese. So you can deduce that they don't put much care in food prep like others have said. I'd skip this place, especially since there are plenty of other solid hot dog places in the area. I have yet to have a decent takeout experience here. read more

We pulled into this location and parked fairly easily as it is on the corner of Clybourn and Courtland. We were really excited as we heard rave reviews about the original location. We walked in and thought the decor was a little loud but that is kind of the vibe. There was only one person in line before us so we didn't have to wait long before putting our order in at the counter. It was nice that in addition to the menu on the wall, they also had a menu at the counter. I ordered a beef with sweet peppers and my husband had the standard double cheeseburger. I don't really love french fries so I was disappointed that I couldn't split them from my italian beef but my husband wanted fries and his cheeseburger did not come with fries so it worked out. I added a soda to my order but wish I didn't. The machine was out of lemonade. When I told the staff at the counter they said ok but then never fixed it or put any sign that there was no lemonade. After waiting and determining they didn't care, I went with root beer. There was WAY too much carbonation in the root beer and it was half foam...sigh. We then went to grab a seat and the dining area was dirty. Every single table was dirty and chairs were all over the place. I ended up putting water on a napkin and cleaned my own table. It was a pretty quick wait for the food. They just shout your name from the counter and you have to go get it. The food was hot and the fries were really fresh. The burger and Italian beef were pretty tasty and overall we enjoyed our food. They need to step up the service and cleanliness or we won't be back. read more

You got to get in the park to see the game. Showed up about 45 minutes BEFORE their posted closing Sunday night. Door locked and crew inside just milling around. Rapped on the window, etc. Their response, again despite the posting, etc. was that they were closed. Extremely unprofessional. Missed the mark for me. I asked what burger they recommended and person at the counter says "the ooey goey" but it takes 20 min. We agree. Also note "everything on it" does not include ketchup and mustard. Since we are in Covid times we decide to eat in the car. Upon opening the container the burger it's supposed to be two smash patties but it is actually one massive hockey puk. Took a bite and all this ultra hot merkts cheddar explodes all over my face and hands! Check the bag, no napkins!!! I find my own napkins in the car, but burger had no taste, just a messy gross mess! This is a great addition to the neighborhood. We have been lacking an authentic Chicago hotdog place and Fatsos is just that. Their char dog is top notch. It comes with fries and is a good value at five dollars. I think the burgers are better elsewhere (try red hot Ranch), but a very solid hot dog joint. read more
