Branzino was fantastic! Would love to go back for more. Highly recommended! We had a reservation and were on time but had to wait around 20 mins. Server was great and the ambience was welcoming. We weren't too fond of the limoncello tiramisu

Superb dining in Half Moon Bay - we stopped by for a late Sunday lunch after spending a couple of hours at Pescadero Beach. We were instantly hooked by the character of the space and the charming décor. Chef Pablo Estrada and his team have done a top notch job creating a welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted warmly and seated in the side room near the open kitchen, and ordered drinks and mocktails. My wife let me taste her espresso martini, which was refreshing! We then shared risotto fritters, pesto pizza, and a Belgian waffle with fried chicken - they were all delish! Then it was time for our favorite course - dessert! We opted for the triple chocolate lava cake and the limoncello tiramisu (over the panna cotta), which arrived soon and looked enticing. We demolished the lava cake, but the tiramisu tasted a bit off, so we let our server know. This was the moment when this lovely family establishment shone! And elevated our experience from very good to exceptional! They showered us with desserts till we could not eat another bite! -- Dark chocolate torte from their prix fixe menu - delightful! -- Panna cotta with vanilla bean and pistachio - probably some of the best I've ever tasted! -- And then the grand finale - freshly made matcha tiramisu - which the chef personally brought to our table, and insisted we try! "If you don't like it, I'll comp your whole meal," he declared! Not a chance! This was heaven on a plate, and we ate it in respectful silence! I glanced at the bill - we hadn't paid for any dessert besides the lava cake! Thank you Fattoria E Mare. We are now fans for life, and will be back! It is more than worth the one-hour drive from the East Bay!!

It was another beautiful day in Half Moon Bay, not too sunny, not too cloudy, just right. We decided to try Fattoria E Mare. The interior is spacious with a rustic, woody, old school feel. For our meal, we ordered the linguine al limone, mussels, and a seafood omelette. The mussels were large but a bit chewy and lacking in flavor. The pasta was citrusy a bit too heavy on the lime for my taste. The omelette was just okay. On the bright side, the service was pleasant. Overall, it was not bad experience. It really sits right between 3 and 4 stars, but I'm leaning toward giving them a 4.

Fabulous fine wine selection to boot!

The food here is always a fresh take from the inspired Chef Pablo Estrada. We come here for the prefix menu because it is sure to impress. The service is intentional and timely. We love the ambiance here and love taking guests from out of town for a special occasion.

A pretty solid spot for pasta in Half Moon Bay! I visited for a company dinner and it was nice how they were able to accommodate such a large party. We had a group of maybe 12-15 people and we were sat in a private room at the back. I ordered the hand cut fettucine with crab and a tomato sauce and it was delicious! The crab tasted fresh and the pasta wasn't too heavy either. The portion was so filling that I ended up eating half and the other half reheated fairly well too. Service was great! They checked in on us regularly. Food took a while to come out, though we did have a big group so that was understandable.

My wife and I came by for a Wednesday night dinner around 6:45PM. Probably because it was during the middle of the week, the restaurant was pretty empty with only about 5 parties when we walked in. Given the space, I'm sure this place is bustling during the weekends so I cannot complain when I got a parking spot right out front and got seated immediately upon entering. Food: we were quite hungry when we arrived and definitely overestimated our appetite...especially my wife. Fried Calamari & Asparagus - 4/5 - great starter; I didn't eat the calamari due to my health condition but the batter was very light and crispy, which is what I enjoyed. A bit overkill with the amount of sauce that was given to us on the side though. Focaccia Garlic Bread - 3/5 - I would order just 1; we ordered 2 because we were hungry and I think it took up too much space in our stomachs. It's good but not super memorable. Pappardelle Pasta - 2.5/5 - Gosh, I wish this was less salty. The flavor and texture of the pasta was great but it was WAY too salty. I was washing my mouth with water continuously eating it. Bianca Pizza - 4.5/5 - Delicious! I'm a sucker for wood fired Italian pizza, especially ones with lots of mushrooms. It just was a bit hard texture wise. But the flavor was all there!! Pan Seared Whole Branzino - 5/5 - The best dish of the night. The fish was HUGE!! The skin was extra crispy while the meat was flaky, falling right off the bones. It was cooked perfectly to my liking! We immediately finished this one first and ended up taking the others to go because the fish needs to be enjoyed fresh. Glad we did. I would highly recommend this dish! We also got the Strawberry Tiramisu to go. Unfortunately, we ate it a day later after it was in the fridge so I feel it would be unfair to rate this. Ultimately, it was a bit too light for us and we prefer tiramisu on the "heavier" side. It had the texture of a coffee sponge cake instead of thick, creamier tiramisu. Overall, this was a wonderful experience for us to celebrate our anniversary. I don't know how this place would be on the weekends but we didn't have to wait and the food was delicious. I'd still recommend they cut down on the salt on some dishes though....

First let me say that their customer service is so lovely here! We came twice in one day . For dinner and after our daughter's game for dessert. Our waiter the first time was very welcoming and helpful I unfortunately did catch his name and he also said hi when we came back for dessert again great customer service! And our waiter for dessert she was so nice we sat outside this time she came cleaned our table and recommended some dessert, I loved the coconut cheesecake. Both of our waiter gave us great service, nothing like going to a restaurant to eat great food and have my family be treated nice and respectful we will definitely be coming back ! Now the food just delicious, loved the Calamari very fresh and tasty we had two orders that's how tasty it is. My hubby got the branzino, that was delicious, the fish was cooked so nicely, sauce and veggies just was a very exquisite plate. He loved it and I tried it and loved it. Braised beef pasta with truffle oil was very tasty, and delicious! big beef serving they definitely don't skimp on meat portion. We really recommend this place food and service are worth it, Money well spent! Very nice and quiet ambiance, it's a very nice restaurant. Loved dining indoor for dinner and loved coming back for the experience outside for dessert.

Seafood and Italian restaurant in HMB. SF chef Pablo Estrada started Fattoria E Mare in Burlingame and this location near the beach is newer. It was cold and gray and Italian food sounded perfect for lunch. It's located on Main Street so parking can be challenging but we were lucky to get a spot at the thrift store across the street. Interior feels very coastal and intimate with the use of of wood floors and table tops and that distinctly painted blue wall. Service was very good but we noticed the food took quite awhile to prepare, I want to say it was a good 25 minutes before anything showed up at the table. Wood-Fried Pizzas: This is what my wife and kids really wanted. Got pepperoni and arugula, olives, prosciutto, and pepperoni. Both tasted OK though there are better places for pizza like this but not around HMB. Seafood Linguine: Shrimp and clams. Tasted good but there was so much liquid in the bowl it was almost like a soup. Purple Haze Cocktail: The name and ingredients sounded cool, it was a very easy drink to have though I wish I would have gotten wine.

The food and service were good, however... it's super slow, everything took time so have patience. Especially if you get there first thing in the morning. They didn't seemed prepared when we got there and when we left I noticed 3-4 more employees showed up. Also, the music was terrible... one minute rock, then Italian then American. It was weird and through the vibe off. The beet salad was really good. There was only 2 scallops for the appetizer that sucked. Pizza and salmon also good.

    Pappardelle Alfredo with Chicken

We went in at 12ish lunch hour. Not crowded at all. Was trying to get garlic bread but menu updated already so we only got the Alfredo chicken pasta and margarita pizza. To be honest both are prepared not the way we expected but the pasta was really good, though it would be nice to not have any carrots. The pizza crust is good but the tomato sauce taste a bit different than what we are expecting. The restaurant is on pricy side but overall ok.

Met the head chef during yelp events before, been dying to come back since. Went on a Friday night for dinner, made a reservation online. Such a cool atmosphere and overall experience, there's an amazing view of trees if you're lucky enough to get a window seat. Came with my partner this time, and was so excited for it. If I had the money for it, and the will to drive here all the time I would try all the seasonal menu changes. My order: Appetizer - Focaccia bread, this is literally the best focaccia bread I've ever had. It's almost biscuit-y. Gnocchi with pesto - First bite you can already taste the homemade freshness of the pesto and the perfect gnocchi texture. Didn't think it would be very filling without protein, but it sure was. Short rib and tripe fettuccine - This is my boyfriend's order, he loved it very much. He's not really into tripe, but he really enjoyed this( which is a shocker). Short rib was so tender, he did not want to share. LOL TLDR: It's priced how you expect really good quality food from. Would've been so much better if I was into wine with all the pairings they have. Wish we had more room for dessert, but will definitely come back.

A solid Italian place with good service but inconsistent food quality. Lots of Italian places in the area and at this price point, it doesn't stand out, so maybe a tad shy of 4 stars for me (3.8). Really liked the complimentary toasted focaccia bread! We had a couple of them! Next, I shared the Butter lettuce salad and it was refreshing and tasty with pears and tangy vinaigrette dressing. For my entree, I had the Spaghetti Chitarra Al Nera squid ink pasta with shrimp, clams, mussels, and calamari. Good amount of seafood but unfortunately the sauce was bit too salty. A touch of cheese or pepper to top it might have helped. My buddies had the grilled Branzino and short rib pappardelle. Agreed that it was fine but they've had better. I also had a glass of Zinfandel from their wine list and that was fine, too, but average. Glad to have tried it but many other good restaurants still to try nearby!!

I don't think I've ever driven by and not seen what looks like full/almost full parking lot - though I did learn they have a bit of extra parking that isn't visible from highway 1. We lucked out and were able to get a window seat with an ocean view. They also have plenty of outdoor seating, but it was quite windy when we were in, so we opted for the protection of dining inside. Lots of stuff on the menu sounded good, but I saw two people eating lobster rolls and knew that was what I had to get. They have both a naked and dressed option, I went with the dressed for more flavor. The roll was loaded up on the lobster, no skimping here. I also got some oysters, which were the highlight of the meal for me. My dad wanted to sub out something on the dish he wanted, and our waiter was very happy to help him build something custom. He also got a cup of chowder, which was very good. It is Sam's Chowder House, afterall. Even though it's probably the most popular spot in Half Moon Bay, I wouldn't say it's the best. For dessert we had the chocolate swirl cheesecake and that was delicious. The restaurant is right at the water with lovely views of the water and jetty. It just happened to be sunset time and it was the perfect t weather. No fog, not chilly, clear beautiful evening. We were able to sit outside in the back since we had our dog with us. We look forward to coming back and trying the clams, cioppino, gnocchi and the ice cream. Thank you so much for a great evening!

Briny, buttery, savory--those were the scents I was greeted with during my visit here. I decided to keep my order simple, but with a bit of indulgence so I settled for 3x3 oysters, half Fanny Bay and half Blue Point and added the One Pound Lobster Platter. One of my favorite things was that the lobster was pre-nipped and cut to make it easier to get to the meat and they also included a seafood cracker tool as well! The lobster was yummy, and meat the melted butter with the lemon juice added so much richness to the meal. The toasted bun was as delicately sweet as it was warm. The potato chips also had a lovely crunch and I like that they weren't pre-salted. As for the oysters, my goodness they were a delight! The service and cleanliness were the issues. I arrived with my wife and our 2 year old grandson for an early lunch and walked in about 11:01. Yelp said they open at 11am so I had no reason to think that would be an issue. The young woman at the register, whose name I did not get, seemed to be somewhat in charge as she was asking other employees to do certain things. I ordered when she was ready and went out to the patio table areas where the kids play area is. My wife asked me to ask them if there was a pooper scooper because there were a couple piles of dog poop on the play area grass. I went back to the register and just let them know there was dog poop out by the tables on the grass. She said she knew and would have someone clean it up soon. I said thanks. As I walked out of the restaurant and past the outdoor pick up window I hear her say to the other workers "you know what I hate is when people get here before we open and start asking me to clean stuff up." First, I wasn't early. You were open. Second, it's a health issue and I felt I was very nice in how I kindly let you know there was an issue that you would probably want to address. So I return to the tables and start to realize how unkept and dirt the whole place really is. Please see the attached photos. Where I probably wouldn't have left a review or photos before, the rude and incorrect comment about me letting them know there was dog poop where kids play before they eat made me decide this deserved a review. Please see the attached photos. The cashier/manager? at the very least deserves significant retraining. Maybe a list needs to be made of specific tasks a staff member is responsible for every day before opening and that staff member would initial that they completed the tasks. You know... 1) check for and clean up all dog poop on site. 2) wipe down all tables and benches. 3) clean up all trash, including all little bits of food, napkins, pens, etc off the ground. 4) check all napkin dispensers that they are full and tops are on and they are in the same place on all tables. The poop photo is the last one listed. I couldn't seem to get it first in the list. I didn't take photos of everything (more poop and trash) because I hadn't yet decided I would write a review. But here it is.
