Went to dinner before the crowds started coming. We had a nice round table which was perfect for all the food we ordered. I wish they had a lazy Susan though! Ordered the catfish as soon as we sat down, since it takes about 30 minutes. We ordered a new dish, that was recommended by the server, which was a flat noodle dish with gravy and veggies, which reminded me of pad seew. Cha gio was yummy. They gave us enough veggies and rice paper for the table, which was highly appreciated. We also had their banh xeo (ok) and com tam. Service was very good and loved that they had big hand washing sinks in the restroom area. I highly recommend Favori to parties of 4 and more. That way you can order a lot of dishes and enjoy them together.

Been looking for a ca nuong place in OC and let's just say I found it!! Came here for dinner on a Saturday and there was no wait. We order the goi & large ca nuong. The goi was honestly sooo goood! The ca nuong took a bit to get here but it was so fresh and crispy Definitely would recommend both dishes & will come back!

Was craving Baked Catfish so we decided to come but overall not sure if we would be back First, let's start with the great things: - Friendly servers (one even reminded me not to eat rau răm because I am pregnant) - Spacious, modern and clean Food: - Ordered: ếch xào, portion was really small (the frog legs, they shrunk. Most of the dish was just onions). Super boomed. - Cha gio egg rolls: nothing special, mostly tasted củ sắn? - Cá nướng: maybe because we have had better ca nuong (which was Tay Giang restaurant in North California) so this was just a 5/10. Sauce was too sweet. Cá bị bở, xắn vô bị nát. Expected higher for this but it was a let down. Also, the meal was pretty pricey as well. Wanted to love and to come here as regularly as possible but unfortunately I don't think we will. However, everyone's taste is different so I think other people in Socal would still enjoy this place.

We came in here on a Saturday for lunch. There was plenty of space for a bigger party; we made a reservation ahead of time. The wait staff were friendly and efficient; it helped that a couple of our friends spoke Vietnamese, which made ordering a lot easier. We tried different kinds of food; the kids stuck to the Queen's fried rice, and we tried the beef salad, beef rolls, crispy rolls, giant roasted catfish that you roll with rice paper and tamarind sauce/fish sauce with noodles, seafood hot pot, and it ended with a banana split. It was a family combo, a preset menu, and an added second giant catfish as well. It was A LOT of food! This was my first time seeing the catfish prepped in Vietnamese style, flayed open along the spine, with extra-crispy skin and softly cooked flesh, then rolled in rice paper with your choice of herbs, cucumber, radishes, noodles, and sauces. I personally like it with the tamarind sauce. The Queen's fried rice is also delicious, with plenty of umami flavour; a huge egg covers the rice, and it comes with peas, carrots, and shrimp. Both the beef rolls and the beef salad were also delicious. The beef rolls with Vietnamese perilla leaves tasted like they were steeped in some herbal tea; it was very refreshing and a great appetizer. Needless to say, the fried egg rolls are always a hit! Even the kids loved it. Overall, it was a great meal and experience. All the presentations were wonderful, and the flavours were definitely there. It does take a while for the food to be prepped and brought to the table, so expect a longer dining time. It's wonderful when you have good company. Also, the wait staff are constantly switching out your plate and bowls so that you're always eating from a clean plate/bowl. The place is well decorated, well-lit, and kept clean.

I tried the catfish, honestly I didn't like it. It was my first time eating it. I like how crispy it was, but overall didn't like it. The fried rice was okay and the beef salad was good. The eggrolls were also pretty good. The restroom was disgusting!! The restroom had throw up in the sinks.

Food awesome. Service super friendly. What a beautiful modern Vietnamese restaurant. Came here late on a Friday night with a small group to celebrate. We came specifically for the grilled fish and ended up ordering a few extra dishes like salt and pepper shrimp, beef salad with lime sauce, and hot pot seafood soup, all of which I highly recommend because they were dee.lee.cious. The staff was friendly and accommodating, even when we were the very last customers. If you are reading this, sorry for keeping you late, fam. Really appreciate the great service and awesome food!

We came for the catfish and ended up having a lot more. Our server recommended us the date night set for two, which came with an asparagus soup with crab meat, rare steak salad with lime juice, a small baked catfish, and ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious, the soup with a perfect starter, salad tasted fresh, catfish was crispy on the outside and the fish was super soft and yummy, and the vanilla ice cream was the perfect ending. We arrived around 6ish and the place was packed with a long line when we left, so I recommend coming here early if you plan on eating during dinner time! There was plenty of seating inside with a darker ambiance and it was a nice evening overall.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Highly recommend this place for their ca nuong. All the other places are dirty inside and is good ca nuong but sometimes it's fishy from other places. This tasted fresh and clean and no pungent old fish smell. The interior is very modern and clean. The service is fast. Their crab soup I would say is better than the usual Chinese restaurants fish maw soup. They have red vinegar just ask for it for the soup. Their clams omg!! Best clean clams and nice and light broth, I smoother the sauce in my rice. Can't rave about this place enough. They had an amazing special which was date night special for $68 such a good deal. Their fish is still big for small size

Feels and tasted high end, but it's very affordable. Such a spacious and beautiful interior, great for a special occasion. However it's still casual which was perfect for our just because lunch. We had the $68 date deal. It included rare beef, soup, catfish, and ice cream. A great deal for a party of 2. It's definitely delicious and filling. The stars are the rare beef which was tender and had lots of herbs, and of course, the catfish. It's what Favori is known for. Sweet crispy skin, tender juicy fish, and tons of green onions and peanuts. We loved it with the fermented fish sauce which had sweet pineapple in it. We also got escargo and filet mignon. The filet was ordered medium rare but came out very well. The staff were very nice to replace it right away. Overall, we enjoyed the meal very much and had a bunch of leftovers to enjoy again. The service was so nice. They checked in us and cleared the empty dishes often. There was plenty of parking in the private lot when we came.

This is one of my favorite restaurants . I've visited many times. I especially love the grilled fish and Bún Chả Hà Nội here. The grilled fish and grilled pork are always delicious, juicy, and never dry. You can really taste the freshness of the food, not something that has been sitting around. The staff are very sweet and friendly. I always give high ratings to places that truly care about customer service. Food can be subjective , some people may find it amazing, while others may feel it doesn't fully match their expectations. Overall, it's not easy these days to find a place that offers both good food and genuinely kind service. Parking is also very convenient since the restaurant is located in a spacious shopping center.

It's all about the crispy fish
    vick l.

We had a great experience here! We accidentally received the wrong stir-fried dish, but the manager immediately apologized and happily brought out the dish we originally ordered without charging us for the mistake. That level of customer service really stood out and made us feel well taken care of. The crispy fish was the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and had a distinctive, aromatic flavor unlike any other crispy fish we've had before. It was absolutely delicious. Great food, excellent service, and a staff that truly cares about their customers. We'll definitely be back!

I dunno ay...feeling it was a 3, but it could be 4 stars. So I will put 4 for now. The last time i had favori was so long ago. It was at the old location. I was amazed by their banana dessert lol I have been seeing the deal of $38 for their small baked fish. So I been wanting to try it. They didnt have this deal on Sat. Instead, they have the $68 sets. We chose Set A for the baked fish. Set B was hotpot. This deal seemed to be better than the weekday's deal. Set A came with 2 mini asparagus soups, a beef salad plate, a small baked fish, and 2 small ice creams. The veggies, sauces, and rice papers were included. They charged for rice noodles (bun). We asked for extra pickled carrots. There were no extra charges for it. The asparagus soup was delicious. One of the best I had so far. They used real crab meats. I wanted more...lol The beef salad was yummy. I liked that they added pickled celery. I never had before. I wished that they would put less raw onions. Overall, I would order this again. Baked fish was a disappointment!! The flavor was a bit bland. There wasn't even enough green onions. The skin was crunchy, but the fish itself was somewhat mushy. So it was either not that fresh or they overcooked it. Mam nem was good. It kinda saved the fish. Nothing much to say about the ice creams. Tasted like reg vanilla ice cream. Service was very slow. It took a very very long time for the baked fish to arrive. So they prob over baked the fish. Staffs didn't check up on us or anything. We had to try to tag someone for stuff. They have a sign about clean RR. However, it was dirty. One was even clogged. I had to go to a different one and warned this other customer about it. Wouldn't want her to experience what I experienced lol good thang that there were 3 avail. No paper towels. Outside sinks ran out of hand soap. Luckily, inside the rr had hand soap. Prob won't return anytime soon.

I rate this establishment, three stars purely based off of how good the food was, but I do want to address the service or the lack of service. We ordered the $150 meal. And to be honest, the food was pretty good. Our meal started with egg rolls, which we're pretty good. They were well fried and great to share. The catfish was well fried and a pretty good size for at least five people to share. I really enjoyed the crab soup with quail eggs. It was my favorite part of the meal. It was definitely very comforting to have. I also really like the beef salad. It was very well flavored and wasn't too chewy. This is definitely a highlight at our table. The fried rice wasn't bad it came with eggs on top, which was pretty good. The table ended with a banana split. It wasn't anything special, but it was a nice dessert to end our meal. We wanted to order two of the $68 specials, but they wouldn't let us. They said that we had to split up our tables and sit on separate sides of the restaurant. Then after we ordered the food came out slowly, but we had to go ask for our own water, the dessert, for boxes, and for the check. It was like they forgot we were there.

We were already in the middle of dinner when another staff member suddenly came over and told us to put our dog on the ground immediately. We were then told that if we could not do so, we needed to leave. We were not trying to ignore the restaurant's rules. If someone had clearly explained the policy when we arrived, we would have followed it. What was upsetting was being allowed to sit down and start our dinner without being told about the restriction, only to be confronted about it in the middle of our meal. We simply paid our bill and left rather than create a problem. I completely understand that restaurants can have rules about pets, and we are happy to respect reasonable rules. But those rules need to be communicated clearly and consistently, especially before customers are seated. The way this situation was handled felt unnecessary and very uncomfortable. I hope management can use this as an opportunity to make the pet policy clear to customers and ensure that all staff communicate the same information from the beginning.

I was satisfied with the plate of veggies and udon they provided, my only issue was the rice. I wish I took a picture but it had brown bits and was too mushy. I bought a second bowl of rice for my son to eat and he ended up spitting it out and I didn't eat mine. It was overall a good visit, service was nice and they were not busy around 1:15pm when we came for late Friday lunch. If they could fix the rice it would be better!

I say it all the time and I'll say it again- Mokkoji is my absolute favorite place for shabu shabu!…read more Everything from the fresh quality of meat and veggies, broth flavor, attentive service, to the overall ambiance of the place has always made me want to continue coming back. This garden grove location in particular is not as crowded as its other locations in OC but it's great since I don't usually have to wait in line :) I always get the Spicy Pork broth which is $5 extra but is well worth the price if you want a more rich and flavorful broth. The veggie bowls come with each order of meat and they're my second favorite part of the meal. My favorite part would be the meats themselves. They're so fresh and well-marinated and I love dipping them into the sauces they provide on the side. I would recommend my personal faves, the flat iron and toro. Additionally, the 2 times I've been here I've been given complimentary sake on the house. Though I'm not the biggest fan of sake, I appreciate a restaurant giving out complimentary drinks. It adds to a customer's overall experience :)

She didn't seem to care that the restaurant was busy or that other customers were trying to enjoy their meals. I came here to enjoy the food after work in a good environment, but that girl made it difficult to do that. That was the only thing that made me feel uncomfortable. Otherwise, the food was good.

I went with a friend on Friday and was excited to go with my bf on Sunday! If you haven't tried lotus salad, I would highly recommend it! Such an astounding crunch from the lotus, with satiable citrus flavors as the base. Shrimp and beef were cooked to perfection. We also tried razor clams which were flavorful and had a really easy chew to it. If I can't chew it under 1-2 minutes, I'm not going to continue. lol I can basically have their baked catfish all week. The dish is so comforting and light. Definitely a no-guilt type of meal. The fish has a nice crisp on the outside and so tender on the inside. I like to load my spring roll up with a lot of the fish. :) I would say the medium sized fish can feed up to 3-4 people. My friends and I were only able to make a dent on a quarter of the fish and had to bring the rest home. If you haven't tried the plum soda, definitely recommend. So good!
