Food is always great, wait time for a table in the evenings can be too long. I don't think there is enough wait staff.

We have been in at FD's many many times but our best times have always has been when we have a server named Devin. From the time you are about to sit down he is there getting your drink order and asking how he could help you. Now here comes your drinks and appetizers. He makes you feel welcome and helps with your choices if you need it. Delivery of the food is perfect and he makes sure you received everything. We always enjoy talking to Devin and he will make laugh and be comfortable. The food is amazing great and enjoy the atmosphere . This is a do over as always. We have one item that we would appreciate it looked at is a little bit more light. This is great the food again is amazing. In town for business and found this little gem. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the food is delicious and really well priced for how good it is. First night had Hawaiian chicken with broccoli and baked potato so good. The second night I had a filet and had to have the potato and broccoli again because they are that good! Nope never again. Was in town for orientation and stopped in due to reviews today about 230pm. Steak and broiled stuffed shrimp. Was my choice. Steak was dry (thank goodness I asked for steak sauce!) The stuffing with the shrimp, ugh took one bite, wasn't to my liking. shrimp was so small. Baked potato was cold, seasonal vegetables were ok. I could have made it back home to nacogdoches and ate two shrimp lunch boxes at clear springs (you know how to do shrimp compared to this place) for the price I paid for this unfortunate disappointing lunch. read more

My wife and I were in Tyler celebrating our twelve-year anniversary and wanted to try something different. So I fired up the old Yelp and found this highly-rated restaurant near the top of the results page. The menu shown on Yelp had prices that seemed almost unbelievable for things like gulf shrimp and steak. Upon arriving, we spun through the entrance way spinning doors. Once inside, I felt like someone had photoshopped the menu image on Yelp and changed the prices because this place was beautiful! I felt like I was in a fine dining restaurant with my wife. BONUS POINTS! We were seated almost immediately and were given a booth without having to request it, which I sincerely appreciated since I'm sure we were obviously a couple out for dinner and a booth is befitting. Our waitress was professional, courteous and kept our drinks full. The best part, of course, was the fresh, flavorful food. We had lemon herb gulf shrimp and gorgeous, fried butterflied shrimp, along with the best fried chicken tenders in my tender-eating life! The bacon covered, fully-loaded baked potato was perfect. I even ate the skin. Even the cocktail sauce was spicy and delicious. People are probably going to start thinking I own stock in FD's Grill House because I'm going to recommend them to everyone. Today we ( 4 of us) went to FD's and we got totally the opposite service than we did last time. We were immediately seated, the waitress Alison was just super nice, courteous and very efficient! Alison needs a raise she was an awesome wait person! All of us has fish of one variety or another and the fish was wonderful!! We all had great tasting food. Everything was just perfect. I will say we did not have a good visit a few weeks ago and I did report it on yelp; well let me tell you that owner of FD's is watching his business and was very quick to contact me. Every business has a bad day and there are no perfect people in the world. The owner of FD's must have really explained the importance of customer satisfaction to his employees and today his business shined like a 1000 watt light bulb!! read more

FD's was the first restaurant we ate at after moving to Tyler and have been back several times since. The service is good, the food is delicious; especially the salmon served on a plank! and the pricing is reasonable for what you get. Fun spot to gather sore sure. While visiting Tyler I tried FDs and was surprised as to how busy they were sore a Monday night. Sat at the bar which was also pretty crowded but the bartenders worked hard to accommodate everyone. Although there was a part in the next room you get the feeling that this is a place to meet after work for drinks. Ordered the bone in 20oz ribeye and to be honest it's was a bit overdone for the price. To much char throughout however juicy and tender inside. Although they got the sides wrong I'd definitely give it another try after the holidays. They get busy so prepare to wait for a table, but that's the worst I could see about FDs. read more

I ate lunch here with my co-workers to celebrate our convocation. The wait staff was horrible. Orders were missing food and had the wrong items. A whole glass of Dr. Pepper was dumped on my green canvas Dooney and my light blue slacks. The manager said she would delete the tip only, but she could not erase the meal charge because that was the waitress' mistake not theirs. I thought the wait staff represented the business. Now I have a purse and slacks that must be dry cleaned. I am worse off after eating at FD's than I was before. I will not return. read more

Horrible customer service FROM THE MANAGER and mediocre food at best!!!! Makenzie, the manager, sat us down and immediately came back after noticing us flagging down a staff member. We had water dripping on our table from the air conditioner above us and her response was either deal with it or be put back on the list with a wait up to an hour! Wow!! To make matters worse my husband made a reservation on Yelp and MacKenzie said they don't take reservations, but that's the verbiage used online! Please remove the option to make reservations if you will refuse to honor. Additionally, he checked in early at 4pm for a 5pm "reservation" and was told they wouldn't be able to check us in until 5pm- which is understandable. The bigger picture is that my husband did all he could to ensure my dinner was seamless. The most disheartening thing is the fact that today is Mother's Day and there were no concerns or empathy that water was dripping onto our table. This means condensation will fall into my food as well as me and my children and you are okay with that!! They refused to move us to a different table stating we would need to wait the current wait time. That is horrible customer service and total disregard for food safety and cleanliness. There were several empty tables to seat us but Makenzie denied sitting us at a different table. She first stated the waiter was not in yet then said it was taken for a a party of 9! Remember, she told us there were no reservations!? We were first so we should have been accommodated. It ended by me demanding my table be moved over as to not be directly under the air conditioner and I had to request for someone to come clean my table off since it and our menus were covered with water. I will NEVER dine here again! They do not deserve my money. First time, and last time!! They tried giving me a gift card at the end of meal but that cannot make up for the disregard and non-existent customer service I received. Sorry not sorry! Food was mediocre: Steak was very dry. We went to FD's again today (Third time in a couple of weeks). All three times there were booths open in the Bar area. We wanted to sit in any of the booths ,but no we were turned down because the server that was assigned to that area did not come in. This is the reason they have given every time. We wanted to sit in that area because I wanted to watch the rest ofThe Players Championship. The management needs an overhaul. What a terrible way to manage a restaurant. The restaurant wasn't that busy and I am sure a server would have been glad to have served us and made some extra money. We left and took our business to another restaurant that was glad to serve us. read more
