We went to Feast for an anniversary dinner and it was all the reviews say it is. Top notch service, great food and drink, really nice setting. Of particular note is the mezze plate. I'm a falafel snob and didn't expect Israel-quality falafel in Bozeman, but I was shocked in a good way. The falafel was crisp on the outside, properly soft inside with a very nice little kick. In fact, the entire mezze plate was so good I'd come back to have it as an entree. Everything else we had was five star level dining. read more

The restaurant was very cute and charming. Off the beaten Main Street path. The food was overall very tasty. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. Really enjoyed the bison carpaccio. Our butcher block steak was a little grainy, not buttery like you expect a $70+ steak to be, but at the same time, it was still tasty and we enjoyed it. The only beef I would say, no pun intended, was the small table we were sat at. I get it if the entire restaurant was full, being just a party of two, but the restaurant was not completely full, and I felt like we kept having to find places for our drinks and dishes, and things like that on our tiny little table. read more

My son and I split the short rib. When it arrived and we cut into it was virtually all fat. I was able to get one bite of meat as was my son. It was good. But 2 bites for 48 dollars. We said something to waitress and she said I should have told you when you split it the chef picks fattier cuts. She said let me see what I can do. The manager came back and argued with us that he saw meat on the bone. If he had looked at the remains he would have seen only fat. I couldn't believe he was calling us liars!! My son said don't pay and I didn't want to make a scene. The entree price should have been taken off the bill. I owned and operated 5 restaurants in Denver for 20+ years. I say this only to qualify my remarks. We also travel since selling our restaurants and truly appreciate great meals. This was one. My expectations are always appropriate for the venue, I still love a great greasy burger in a dive bar but have different expectations in different situations. Seldom I would say we experience a place that executes in ambience, service and culinary experience. Feast did tonight. The service was perfect, unobtrusive and attentive and what we wanted for a dinner with another couple. The design was nice, done in taste and unique enough to leave an impression. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without being loud and distracting. Our server was informed in both food, preparation and had good knowledge of wines and beverages. She made appropriate suggestions and read us well. The food really stole the show. Each course was presented with good timing, attractively with perfect seasoning. The ceviche was fresh, perfect amount of citrus, heat and seafood, scallop and shrimp tonight. Oysters fresh shucked well with no shell, grit etc. and although not needed had great house made accoutrements. Cioppino was excellent. A modernized version with a light tomato broth, a little heat and great depth. Pan seared diver scallops were seared perfect, brown butter again perfect, every thing on the plate was intentional, flavored well and artful. The desserts were truly a great ending to a fantastic night. Flourless torte was nice, again served artful and each component to the plate had purpose. The carrot and parsnip cake was really a show stopper, unbelievable in taste, texture and sophisticated. The candied carrots had a touch of lemon under the sugar glaze and will be often duplicated in my own kitchen. I seldom write an entire review however we wanted to point out success and thank them for a memorable meal. By far the best meal we have had in Bozeman and one of the best in sometime. Based on reviews I was expecting a good meal as we had this far on our trip. We started with the ceviche which was ok and we stopped eating after I found a tomato piece with the label still on. The waitress came back and apologized and said it would be removed from our bill - nice recovery. I had the scallops which were good but lukewarm. Others in my party had the steak frites - just ok and duck pad Thai which did not have a good balance of noodles and duck. The service was good - food not great. read more

Fantastic dinner and service! I went with my daughter for dinner and we had a great time. We started with peppered ahi tuna and oysters which were both really good. A couple of local beers and added some pinot with the meal. Our entrees were fresh fish of the day, halibut and another great dish, elk chops. After we received our meals, my daughter laughed at me because I just kept looking at how fantastic our plates looked! One of the best restaurants in Bozeman! We will be back. read more

Upon our arrival in Bozeman, we were saddened to see the (inevitable?) insurgence of chain restaurants (they're like a cancer, people! Just say no!) along the main drag heading into town, a number of independents reveal entrepreneurial chefs are alive and well and thriving in Bozeman. Thank God. The food here is progressive and delicious. The service (thank you Leah!) was spot-on, and the wine list was very nicely curated. What's more, the waitstaff were well trained on the wines as well as every nuance of table-side service. Though the tables are closely placed, they are beroken up by decorative bookshelves which help to dampen the multitude of voices. The only downside of dense diner is the inevitable intrusion colognes and perfumes, which then embue every bite with an essence the chef never intended. We started with an order of oysters on the half shell and Parmesan truffle fries. The oysters were three east coast varieties and had great freshness and flavor. The fries were hot, fresh and perfectly seasoned. Out entrees consisted of Pineapple Chili Salmon, Super Lump Crabcakes, and a chef's special ahi sashimi. The sashimi was served with masago and a guava sauce that just hit the palette perfectly. The salmon was sashimi grade and cooked perfectly to order. It was served with a slightly sweet glaze that was complemented by a perfectly paired quinoa-lentil and chickpea side. The crab cakes cake packed with crabmeat and was paired with an apple slaw that complemented the crab quite well. To top it off, the carrot-parsnip cake was a most-excellent way to complete a meal that was served perfectly by Jillian who is a master of her craft. she was well versed with the menu and had answers to every question, without waiver. By far the best meal we have had in Montana, or around the country for that matter. We tried 5 dishes and all were absolutely incredible. We love love loved the Bison Carpaccio and Mussels. The sauce in the Mussels was outstanding, and something we'll never forget. We would definitely recommend trying as much as you can, and going as much as you can if you are local. I came here with a small group. The atmosphere is quaint and modern. Moderate pricing depending on what you order. They had a good selection of different fish/seafood. I wanted to try some variety so as my meal I got the Vietnamese chicken wings and Mezze platter. I was very pleased with my decision--both were delicious! At our table the burger, oysters, and ceviche were also spoken very highly of. If you are looking for a nicer place to dine that isn't quite as known, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

I really enjoyed my dinner here with my mom. We came early to catch HH (a quick hour from 5-6pm) which has awesome deals on oysters and seafood platter. Their oysters are incredibly fresh and shucked perfectly (no shell bits, thank you - and sliced separate from the bottom shell) and only 1.50$ each during HH. Highly recommend the kumamoto (small, creamy) and blue point oysters (medium sized, crisp, refreshing). I am a heathen and use tabasco and lemon for oysters but their vinaigrettes are good too. Super impressed by the 10$ seafood platter which was so much bigger than expected. It has 2 oysters, a big ice cream scoop sized king crab mix which is delicious and well-paired (trying to figure out what is in it...we got water chestnut, bell pepper, parsley), and some big fat cocktail shrimp. We ordered the bison carpaccio and feast burger, both of which were great. I would definitely recommend the bison carpaccio - thinly sliced smoked bison, crisp toasted bread, fried capers (little salty delicious crunches!) and arugula to balance it all out. Delightful mix of soft, smooth, crunchy, crisp textures and bitter, smoky, salty and umami flavors. The feast burger I was less impressed with. Per waitress, chef recommendation was to cook to medium. The burger was pretty much all the way cooked through - I'd call it medium well to well, which made the lean patty a little hard to chew. The toppings are an interesting mix (mango chutney, mustard, goat cheese, bacon) and the fries are crisp and delicious. Overall an amazing dinner. I would definitely return for the HH and the bison carpaccio, and to try something else off the main menu. Of a hilarious note, some of the dishes are common Asian dishes fancied up and doubled in price. Particularly the oxtail broth with rice noodle for 15$...that's Pho, guys. Though there's no other pho in Bozeman so I suppose the chef has a monopoly on it. read more

My husband's work brought us to Bozeman for a few nights. I couldn't get a reservation until 8:30 but when we walked in ten minutes early we were seated immediately. Our server was lovely and informative. We don't eat red meat and let her know so she only shared specials and recommendations of food that might appeal. We started with the beet salad which was one of the best we have had. Lovely balanced flavors, pumpkin seeds with just the right seasoning and a maple dijon vinaigrette that had just the right notes of sweet and tangy. The beets were perfectly cooked and the fresh seasonal greens made it. We shared the crab cakes which were some of the best I've had not on the east coast.. Great texture and taste. The Brussel sprouts were crispy and delicious with some nice heat from the sriracha aioli. I also ordered an ahi sashimi, a daily raw choice. The freshmade wasabi was kicky but the balance of beet sauce and tamari made this so tasty. This was a wonderful find and we recommend it! read more

To pay $70, including tip for a shared meal was a big disappointment, because my husband and I considered Feast to be one of our favorite restaurants in Bozeman. We dine in, and because we live nearby, we also do take out. Last week, my husband picked up the crab cake dinner and an order of brussels sprouts. My husband's first bite of crab cake included crunching on a piece of sharp shell. We wondered if the rest was safe to eat. The normally tasty green sauce was watery and tasteless. The normally lightly dressed cabbage was dry and uninteresting. The brussels, which are a favorite, were seriously undercooked, raw, hard, and unedible. Into the trash most of the dinner went. Because the food has always been generally very good, we are hoping this was just a bad night, for some reason. read more

We went here for the first time this Saturday. We made a reservation (recommended) via their website. We were immediately seated. Other reviews complained about noise, we had zero issues at all and the restaurant was full. The wine list is well rounded with an expansive assortment of bottles including old world whites. Prices on the wines are a little higher compared to other restaurants in Bozeman. We started with the ceviche, which was amazing. There was a perfect amount of fish and wonton crackers. The fish was very fresh and a nice delicate balance of citrus and sweetness that didn't overpower the grouper and scallops. The wontons were crispy and light but held up for scooping and were lightly which complemented the ceviche well. For the main course we ordered the crab cakes and the elk chops with prawns. The crab cakes were definately made with premium lump crab and little to no fillers. Fingerling potatoes and a crispy slaw paired well with the richness of the cakes. The elk chops were beautifully plated. There is an abundance of flavors in this dish. It was a tastebud journey through the elk, truffle croquettes, cabbage slaw and smokey tomato sauce. Each flavor was distinctive but played well off the other sub parts of the dish. We perused the dessert menu which looked great but the meal had us to full to indulge. Overall we had a wonderful culinary experience. I would recommend this restaurant and we will be back. The Lobster and Grit dinner I had on June 17th should be a Michelin star rated dish! I can't even put it into words how delicious and perfect this dish is! I wanted to hug the chef, but "Steph" had just left for the evening! Excellent service by Josh, the manager and he knows his wine!
