After seeing the reviews I was excited enough to see try it on my way to NC. Overall, I was utterly disappointed. The only plus side was that the service wasn't terrible, but it wasn't exceptional either. The fried chicken was flavorless and didn't have enough crisp, and my mom found some hair in her burger. My brother's chili was chunky and didn't go well with the hot dog, and my sister's chicken nuggets were stale and generic. My Mac and cheese was by far the worst excuse for pasta I've ever tasted in my life. It was five pieces of large elbow pasta in a disgusting, soupy, watery liquid. I had to spit out the piece I had. The vibe was nice but it felt old and dusty, not fresh out of the 50s like Johnny Rockets or Steak n' Shake. Overall it wasn't the worst meal I've had in my life, but I'll probably never go out of my way to be back. read more

We were hungry on a six hour drive and chose the first thing the gps offered up for hamburgers, which turned out to be Fender's. When we pulled into the lot we took notice of the true to diner look , and ample parking for all needs . the outside really gives the diner feel. Upon entering you step back in time ! The paint choices , flooring , furnishings and decor are a time capsule! It was busy and the booths are on the smaller side , just right for a group of 4. If you have 5 or more the booths are not really an option . The staff was friendly and informative. The menú was quite large . We decided to go with classic diner fare , hamburgers fries and shakes . The hamburgers were served with fries, and 10$ + . The burgers and fries were standard , but not seasoned , average size. The fries were great . Dining here will be slower than fast food but faster than franchise dine in establishments . Nice clean place to stop and grab a bite to eat . Prices may be a bit high for a larger family looking for a quick cheap eat . read more

Wanted to go to restaurant for a very long time so on mother's day the family finally got there. Only to be highly disappointed. We new the wait would be long but we didn't mind because of the reviews and the anticipation. Boy were we wrong!!!. We were seated after Only a 30min wait. After being seated and getting our drinks we sat and sat and sat!!!. I finally realized that table after tables of people were leaving before getting their food and looking around saw that there were only five tables of customers left. So after an hour and a half I ask about our food and the sever assured me it was coming off the grill as we speak. Omg the food comes to the table cold!!!. How on earth do you pull cold food off the grill as we speak!!!.??. Well all I could figure is we go the food that was meant for those customers that left. My wife had said to us earlier that we should leave but I assured her it would be worth the wait. Again boy was I wrong!!!. Never ever going back. read more

Food is alright just seems a little overpriced. After multiple visits I find that the service is consistently very slow. While the servers are friendly they are scarce. Most recent visit 10 min to have anyone stop by the table for drink orders - then I see same server at another table several minutes pass before our drinks arrive (all water so nothing special) I decided to place the food order via the QR code since I was not asked if we even wanted appetizers or if We were ready to order. 45 minutes later server stops by and refills some of our drinks (walks away before giving refills to all who needed one) I don't think it was intentional just frustrating , I had to ask about our food which was "up next " another 5-10 passes and our food is brought out. We were not offered refills again until we were about to leave (already paid ). I understand staffing issues etc it just seems to be poorly managed. It does have a lot of potential , unfortunately for the experiences vs time and cost I don't plan to return myself. read more

Happened to be on the road heading back home and googled for lunch in Cornelia, GA. So glad Fender's came up. Reviews were good and this place did not disappoint. About 6 tables were populated when we arrived for lunch, but when we left, almost triple that. The locals know where to go! Since this is the "home of the smash burger", that's what we got. Two excellently cooked burger patties on a bun that was to die for. All the usual lettuce, tomato, and the like, but they also had a special sauce that we had them bring on the side in case that it would not be to our liking. Not for us on the burger, but great to dip their tasty fries in. Service was outstanding. Dylan S. was our server. This guy was great. He constantly came to check on us and our tea glasses were always being refilled. Don't know how he did it since he had other tables. We also noted that there were many fine dishes coming out of the kitchen. Everyone seemed to order something different. We intend to go back at some point to try other entrees and specialties. The fried deviled eggs will be on my list...they looked great being served to the booth behind us, yum...So if you are even close to the little town of Cornelia, go and have a meal at Fender's! read more

I have gave them multiple chances not just 1 time but 4 times!! both times it was a disappointment. From getting over looked to not getting or having our drinks refill .to not getting our orders right from the food coming out cold to our food not coming out at the same time as the other guests at our table. The restaurant in its self is a beautiful retro 50's style diner with a Amphitheater out side with a walk up bar they have local bands playing on the weekends. The food is a bit pricey. I still want to try to support this restaurant because it's in my hometown & I really want to see the restaurant succeed. I don't want to discourage anyone trying the restaurant. This is my honest review. But I want to keeping hoping that this restaurant can workout the problems I want to give them the benefit of the doubt after all it's been a very difficult year with Covid and trying to safely run and stay open with any Business. let along a new a restaurant read more

Beautiful atmosphere and delicious cuisine! The aesthetic of the restaurant felt completely authentic and the food was absolutely mouthwatering. As a vegetarian, I ordered the veggie burger which was pretty amazing. Of course, I couldn't go to a 50s style diner without getting a classic American milkshake! Wow! Second time I've eaten here this holiday season, while visiting family in the area. First time I had the "Big Bopper" burger...fantastic. This time I had the crispy fried chicken livers, baked sweet potatoes and cole slaw that was amazing prepared. Finely chopped, with a touch of mayonnaise and slightly sweet. Some of the most well balanced textured and seasoned cole slaw I've ever had. Just right. The server both times was a young lady makes Shonterria. She is the perfect blend of professional and engaging and a real asset to Fenders. If I lived here, I would always ask for one of her tables. read more

If I reviewed the atmosphere and decor alone, BOOM five star! But reviews are more than that, and it's important to take everything into account. The food is pricey for what you receive. The portions are huge but the quality is poor. The milkshakes are super yummy; however they used to leave the silver mixing cup on the table. Now, you're paying a high price for a small glass of milkshake. Perhaps they should reevaluate things a bit and then what could be a gem of a 50s themed diner into a happening place in this small town. read more

The NEW Fenders is beyond amazingly prepared meals. This morning I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich (offered throughout the day) with perhaps the best breakfast fries I have ever enjoyed including those at the best restaurants in New York. Chef Mike (you may know from years work at Habersham's other BEST restaurants) has gifted the customers of NEW Fenders breakfast fries intermingled with other fresh ingredients grilled to perfection. Ditch the catsup..these fries need nothing but your appetite and a hungry tummy. The coffee was HOT and stayed hot until waitstaff Autumn came to refill. Delicious. As a coffee grower I was curious where they buy their coffee: secret. Other waitstaff checked on me and my Texas-size egg, cheese, sausage breakfast biscuit and all, Paul, Jorge, and others were attentive every moment I ate. Having seen a lot of great reviews My girlfriend decided to try Fender's Diner, so on December 7th we drove from Athens for lunch. The empty tables were dirty, the floor was filthy - literally littered with food. These alone should have been the clue. Since we had driven so far we decided to stay and see what all the hype was about. My friend ordered their "famous" chicken liver plate. She said they were flavorless. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger was, unseasoned, over cooked, and very dry. The mayo I added made it palatable. I could see the little slice of cheese, but couldn't taste it. The only fresh item on my burger was the lettuce. Very disappointed in this diner. read more

Let me start by saying the owners are some of the sweetest people in the world. That said this place is not fenders' anymore. It is a new place using the same name. I have visited multiple times under the new management, and the food has gotten worse and worse with every single visit. From the world's toughest chicken to the world's driest rolls and waffles, the chicken was so over cooked it was snapping and squeaking on my teeth, no moisture left, the meat had steamed in it's own breading and was calling off and the breading was burnt on both the chicken and waffles (breast) and on the chicken tenders. The sweet owner listened to my feedback and brought me new chicken. But to be honest I was so grossed out, I was no longer hungry from the texture of that chicken. So I packed it and took it home. The next day I tried to eat the chicken and once again the smell of the chicken which tasted and smelled like old grease and the texture and mouthfeel was the same, and the cook of the chicken was worse than the first. I could only throw it away... I'm sorry to say, I have lost faith in this business and the feedback I'm getting from others warned me this would happen. I'm going to have to give my dollars elsewhere on what was formally my favorite restaurant. I used to home almost every week, and now I feel like I'm watching it shut down. If I get the courage up to try the food again... I will update the review, but the 50 dollar order I placed wasn't even edible, and I was charged full price for it. For an order that took 40 mins to reach the table, and I was one of 5 tables seated in the place. I would love to try this however me and my husband have tried to eat here multiple times once it was closed second time it was closed for an event however no one was inside and they don't serve breakfast until 11 which is not convenient seeing as most people eat breakfast at breakfast time not lunch time.. big daddy's for the win! read more
