We sat down, got our coffee, ate our meals, and wondered if we could eat more. The food was so tasty that we really wanted to take more food with us. I had a chicken fried steak and my gf had an omelette. Every table around us was busy eating, we were not the only ones who appreciated this food. For a humble place with delicious food, the prices were average. The coffee could use a little help, as well as the A/C, but all in all, it was a win for us hungry bears.

Fender's Diner in Cornelia, GA, has been on my radar for years, and I'm glad I finally made it! I arrived right when they opened to avoid the typical evening crowds, and I had an amazing experience. Let's start with the appetizers, which were phenomenal. The Fried Mac & Cheese Bites were crispy on the outside and perfectly creamy on the inside--a must for any mac and cheese lover. They came with a side of ranch, which added a nice touch. Then there were the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls, which were a total surprise. Their unique shape and bold flavor made them an instant favorite. And lastly, the Fried Deviled Eggs--topped with thick bacon and fried to perfection--were unforgettable. Fried deviled eggs might just ruin the traditional version for me. For my main dish, I went with the Breakfast Burger, and I'm so glad I did. It featured a smashed patty topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce, a fried egg, and a tasty sauce. The burger was juicy and flavorful, though a little messy (but that's how you know it's good). The bun held everything together well. And let's talk about those onion rings--the crunch is unmatched. If you're an onion ring fan, Fender's is the place to be. To end the meal, the waitress surprised me with a green apple cotton candy. I hadn't had cotton candy in years, and it was such a fun and nostalgic treat. Beyond the food, the retro diner ambiance is worth mentioning. The atmosphere and the wait staff are friendly enough, but IMO thats about all this place has going for it. They seem to be in transition, as if It's searching for its identity. It has an unusual menu. You seem to have one choice in meats... chicken or chicken. Of course you have beef, but it's for burgers only. The pastrami on rye must have been awful, because they "pulled" it from the menu. I suggest that they take the listing off as well. Didn't try the ice cream. They are advertising "boozy" shakes, iwith alcohol in it. I thought it' was a play on words - Busey vs. Boosy, but nope, real alcohol in God's waiting room, bless your heart.. :-) The Telephone booth is a nice touch. The food is great, but I'm not going to specify the quality of the food in this review. I'm going to brag about how CLEAN this restaurant is. First, I'm going to admit saying that I'm the one who cleans the carpet VERY frequently. That's the first reason. I see both the dining room and the kitchen when I go to clean their carpet, and the kitchen is SUPER clean. And another reason why I'm so impressed with the cleanliness is how they clean the tables in between customers. The waiters use windex and a fresh paper towel to clean the tables. When you start with a CLEAN restaurant, then you KNOW that the food is good quality and good to eat. read more

The service was incredibly slow, and there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. We felt bad for her--she was clearly doing her best under tough circumstances. Unfortunately, it took forever for our food to arrive, and our appetizer came out with the main course. To top it off, we were missing a sandwich that was listed on the ticket. We initially thought it might have been a simple oversight on the server's part, but it turns out that wasn't the case. It seemed like the kitchen staff might have been too distracted, as they were vaping over the food while cooking. I can't imagine a world where that's acceptable. read more

Cannot leave a review on food or atmosphere of the restaurant because we did not go. Tried to call because we needed to ask if they could accommodate for a family members severe allergy. The phone call was automated and gave the only option of leaving a voicemail for a large party inquiry. We were headed to dinner actively, so we just chose to go somewhere else. I do not understand why places no longer let you speak to a human being. This is the best place to go out and eat with the family. I love to eat the Big Bopper and it is probably the best hamburger I've ever tried. The quesadilla with bacon, cheese, and chicken is another thing I get. Also, the fries are AMAZING!! I don't even have to eat them with ketchup. Every time we'd say, "One day we need to stop there." Well, we finally did, and we were so glad we did! For some reason, we always assumed this was mainly a steakhouse. It's definitely not. They have a big menu with plenty of different choices, plus daily specials that give you even more options. We started with the buffalo chicken tender bites with ranch. These were some of the most tender and juicy chicken tenders I've had. The buffalo sauce had a little kick without being overly spicy. My wife thought it had a little too much vinegar flavor, but I personally really enjoyed it, especially dipped in the ranch. Either way, that plate disappeared quickly. We also tried the fried ravioli. We order fried ravioli fairly often, and one of my complaints at some restaurants is that you get a lot of fried dough and very little filling. Not here. These actually had a good amount of cheese filling inside, and they were great dipped in the marinara sauce. For my meal, I ordered the prime rib cooked medium with cheese grits and mac & cheese. It also came with a roll and au jus. The prime rib was excellent. One of the things I really appreciated was how much actual meat I got. I've ordered prime rib at other places where a huge portion ends up being fat. This one had a little fat, of course, but most of that big piece was delicious, tender meat. I poured the au jus all over it and went to work. The cheese grits and mac & cheese were both great sides as well. My wife ordered the chicken and dressing platter with squash and potato salad, along with cornbread. It was a big plate of classic comfort food and she really enjoyed it. Then came dessert. My wife ordered the chocolate chip pumpkin cheesecake, and I ordered the lemon curd cheesecake. When I say that lemon curd cheesecake was one of the best cheesecakes I've had, I'm not exaggerating. It was fantastic. The lemon curd on top paired perfectly with the cheesecake. We also got to meet the owner, Denise, who was walking around checking on everyone. When she found out it was our first visit, she was genuinely excited to hear what we thought and made sure we had everything we needed. While talking about how good the desserts were, she told us that her daughter is behind all of the baked goodies up front. They had cheesecakes, cakes, brownies, cobblers, cookies and all kinds of other desserts that looked amazing. That's going to be dangerous on future visits! Our waitress, Olivia, was awesome as well. She was friendly, kept our drinks filled and checked on us throughout the meal without overdoing it. Great service from beginning to end, and plenty of Coca-Cola refills! The restaurant itself is much larger than it looks from the road. There are two indoor seating areas with comfortable tables and chairs, plus a very large outdoor patio. The inside has an older, rustic feel with lots of wood and darker lighting, which fits the building well. Good food, big portions, fair prices and a genuinely friendly team. After driving past Quillians for more than six years saying we'd eventually stop, we've officially corrected that mistake. Now we need to come back and start working our way through those daily specials. Definitely a GO for us, and we'll be back!

When we sat down they were serving number 2. We are number 16. Hamburger and fries, how long can it take? So we look around, slowly orders are getting delivered. Still waiting. About a quarter to three our number comes up. Yes, that's 1:15 we have been waiting. Chicken strips are a little overcooked and bland. Fries are good. Megan's burger is pretty good. We decided to wait, even though we were already treated horribly just trying to check in. After waiting over 30 minutes to be seated, we were then told they didn't care that we were a party of 12 -- we were not allowed to move the outside tables together so we could sit as a group. This was after our previous visit, where we waited over an hour just to be seated, and then another hour for mediocre food. We genuinely hoped things would improve after they reopened, but the service and food are somehow worse than before. Save your time and your money. There are too many great local restaurants that actually value their customers.

I really enjoyed everything I got, especially the squash casserole and homemade Mac and cheese. The servers were extremely friendly and I enjoyed browsing the items they had for sale. We will definitely be back! All 3 of us got the special which was 1 meat, 2 sides, bread, drink and dessert. We all brought our dessert home. I can't say enough about the coconut cream pudding.

Classic diner feel, menu items are no frills but tasty , friendly to your wallet, and made quick. Haven't tried breakfast there yet but looking forward to it. If you find yourself in downtown Toccoa it's a great spot to take a load off.
