Note: YELP does not allow algebraic symbols to be used in their reviews. Probably because their software team failed algebra. This is a standard construction "tent tube" system re-used for a display system, whereby the aluminum tubing supports a retractable display. There is a center elastic band similar to those used in tent systems. The washer will prevent the elastic band from retracting. The tube sits in a plastic receiver. English system washer sizes (which I already tried) are too large an OD. I found a metric size which worked perfectly. 99 cents. You decided to mansplain to me that my approach was all wrong. Why? Because I'm a 65 year old female wearing a pink blouse? Let me solve my own engineering problems please. Don't stand there and insist I explain myself to you because you are XY and clearly cannot grasp the solution I've already configured. I just need your hardware. I have no use for your lack of brains.

One phone call to Marshall's Industrial and the lady did a quick check and confirmed. The place is like Harbor Freight but kind of a backstreet locals type place, behind Natsumi & Starbucks. They knew exactly which aisle to send me and the big dude in Orange knew exactly what bins to look for. Again, nobody across SD had M3 set screws. They did. They have a bunch of stuff there I may be looking to revisit again some day. Got a handful of them babies for under a $1.

If you have an idea, walk around the store and there's bound be away to make your dream come true, I had to manufacture brackets to repair a table. The original brackets were no longer available. I found the appropriate bolt with the proper thread that most stores do not carry a large washer and I use a metal sealant to include two parts and drilled holes to screw them into the bottom of the table. Value sense of account accomplishment fixing something that they thought they're gonna have to throw away. the elderly couple actually still use this table and hope to use till the day they carried out their front door feet first. They also have lots of other items (purses, clothes, small home decor, stuffed animals) and snacks. We'll definitely come back and browse/buy, especially since Hallmark closed next door. We save a lot of time just asking the staff for help. Thanks Ace!

I even said, "This doesn't look big enough," but he assured me it was the correct one. I took it home and unfortunately it wasn't the right size, so I had to run back to the store. The woman who greeted me the first time was incredibly kind and helpful -- she had even helped me load bags of soil into my car earlier. She handled the return for me with no problem at all. Then I went back upstairs where the actual plumbing specialist helped me pick out the correct part. The customer service here is excellent. It's so close to my house that I prefer going there instead of a big store like Home Depot. I may pay a little more sometimes, but the convenience, helpful staff, and friendly service make it worth it. Usually, they're right and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this store for both customer service and convenience.

So I went to Hanks for the first time a couple of weeks ago and they have loose screws and nuts and other parts sold by the piece just like Ace hardware. I made Hank's biggest sale of the day two hexagonal head metric screws for 27 cents each. I told the Hanks employee that I'd never be able to find that 1.5 inch metric screw in all those 100's of drawers. He said "Well, I'm here for you!" I went to San Diego Ace Hardware in Clairemont Square, where they were charging 95 cents for each same metric screw, vs Hank's 27 cents. I said NO, not paying $2 for two 1.5 inch screws!!! Ace employee said it was expensive because that is how much a METRIC screw costs. I took one of the screws back to Hanks 2 weeks later because it was too short. Hanks happily gave me credit for the 27 cents so I could trade it for a screw half inch longer for only 5 cents more, or 32 cents, when Ace wanted 95 cents for a shorter one. Hanks gave me great service! So 1 Yelp star for ACE's 95 cents per 1.5 inch metric screw, so overpriced! The Ace employee already found me the screw, but when he put them in the paper bag and told me what to tell the cashier, I went back to him and said I didn't want them anymore, and that I had paid 27 cents each at Hanks vs $2 for two screws at Ace. He said that is how much METRIC costs!
