Disappointed. I would have given 1 star, husband thought 2. Wedge is all bread/bun. Italian sausage and kielbasa dry. Sauerkraut and pepper and onion toppings...barely. You get more toppings on a kids burger at McDonalds. Beer and wine selection poor. All my husband kept saying was, "at least the mustard is good" (which was bourbon mustard). This is a great local place to hang out, have some great drinks and have some food. The staff is very cordial and the place has a real nice vibe. I was not overly impressed with the foods. I wanted a 5 meat charcuterie board, as is mentioned on the menu. The young lady at the counter said "we have a 3 meat board" I said ok, fine. I also ordered the Schaefer sandwich. My wife got wings, a salad an fries. The charc8board was FANTASTIC! My only suggestion would be that they somehow supply a way to know what each of the meats are. My Schaefer was ok. No real flavor, too much cheese. When I eat a sausage with peppers, I want to taste sausage with peppers. This thing was smothered in cheese. Would not order again. My wife's too, had no flavor in the meat. It was all about the sauce. The salad was great and so were the fries. I'm going back, for sure. I'll get the board again and maybe try a burger. First visit didn't disappoint. We visited around 5:00 on aSunday and there was ample indoor and outdoor seating. The Normandy was a 4.5 despite not tasting a wine reduction. The American was only a 2.5 but hey, this isn't a burger place. My teen wasn't thrilled with the chèvre or beet chutney on his Hunter but approved of the sausage and the selection of mustards on the table. Another teen got a full size mac n cheese. Everybody loved the big pretzel, friendly service and prompt delivery of food. Those plus the Paulaner(?) Oktoberfest rated a 5. Wine selection was unexpectedly decent too. We'll be back! read more

We visited Fest about a week ago on a Sunday evening. First time there And last probably. Having never been there, ordering was a challenge to figure out, and the menu on the LCD screen kept changing from the menu to an ad so it took us a while. Once I thought I knew what to order, the screen would change. Next, why does a restaurant not serve water? Couldn't order a glass of water, nor were there any bottles of water to purchase, why? when there are bottles and mugs of beer, but in order to have water we had to use a water dispenser with tiny paper cups. Really? Now, on to the food, it was terrible. My husbands burger was dry and crunchy, our daughter ( who is 6 months pregnant and can eat almost anything) couldnt eat her chicken sandwich , it was way too salty. The pretzel was like rubber and cheese was clumpy. Yuck. My pork sandwich was edible, the fries were all cold, not to mention they are served on a cold metal tray. One look into the "kitchen grill" area, I knew it probably wasn't gonna be good. it looked dirty and unkept, open for all the customers to see. And when you have what looked like high school kids running the place, I was concerned. They all sat at the bar on their phones. Cool concept of biergarten, probably more fun to sit outside in the summer and have a beer, but food and kitchen needs an overhaul. read more

The sausages here are good, some are great. The buns and toppings are great. Very tasty. The sauerkraut is very tasty. The service is good, the management here really stand out with excellent customer service. Their welcoming nature alone has made me root for this place to do well. There is no tipping. They use a profit sharing program for employees. That's very cool and i approve and wish to support that model. Ok my critiques. The fries kind of suck. And by kind of, i mean I've had better fries that came out of bag in my freezer. They are preprocessed rather than being just a sliced potato. Bleh. It's not hard to make great fries in house. Just check out Burger Bach. Do what they do. Take a potato, slice it, then fry it twice. Add salt. Perfection. The beers are a weak point. They have limited taps, about 12. They don't rotate. Been open maybe two months, same beers the entire time. They picked their "best sellers" from Capital Ale House and tacked on some German Imports. That's it. Compared to restaurants in a short driving distant their selection leaves a lot to be desired. It's the single biggest thing that stops me from coming here. Having to have a beer I don't particularly like every time.... BECAUSE THEY NEVER CHANGE!!! Ive had a pretty good time every time I've been here. Worth checking out with friends, family or just when you want a quick lunch. There is plenty of room for improvement but still a good lunch spot. USB and Outlet charging available at the bar. 4 stars. Note to Restaurant: IMO you need to; Rotate beers or pick better ones. Make the fries in house. Get rid of that dumb loud cooler. The bar stools are uncomfortable. For all these issues i detract 2 stars. But your managers have offered such a great customer service I had to give one back. I am so disappointed. 2weeks ago I found the perfect hot dog. 15.00 was a little pricey but it made 2 meals and filled me up both meToday I had my wife pick one up for me. When I opened the box I was shocked to see it was half the diameter and I mean half. Ate half of it and still hungry but the price is the same. Why? What a huge let down. Ok. Update. Frankenstein is back. Was contacted by very nice manager who explained there was a mistake in delivery and cook used incorrect box. Got a couple for me and the wife today. Very happy. read more

Food safety issue: watched the manager handle raw meat and then with the same gloves on assemble a cooked burger and serve it. I challenged the manager who just shrugged as his staff apologized on his behalf. Its a real shame this is a great place BUT not worth risking food poisoning for. read more

Fest is very near where I live and I really want it to work out. I love the idea and location. I'm a huge fan of German food and really love German beer on tap. My family has eaten at Fest half a dozen times and it's really hit and miss. Sometimes the service is good. Sometimes it isn't. The cold beer on tap is always excellent. My daughter loves the burgers. That being said, we've waited over 30 minutes for a meat and cheese tray more than once. Slice some meat and cheese and bring it out. I can do this at home in 5 minutes or less. I'm not sure what is holding things up. It seems to be a really nice operation but it is run by a handfull of teenagers with other things on their mind. We need places like Fest. Please, please, get to together so that we can have a great local place to eat. read more

Seemed like a great idea. Passing through Richmond and found a restaurant with German fair and beer. Our first clue should have been that the place was empty. No one greeted us or show us to a table but because it was dog friendly we kinda didn't have a choice. Then after 30 minutes of sitting there we realize it is self serve via their online app. Ok, we were game. Took us another 15 minutes to order because the app isn't all that intuitive. Then we wait and wait and wait. My husband goes in to ask and the single person he finds says yeah, you guys are the only order in. We wait and wait some more. I go in and it turns out they made the order to go, so it sat there for a friggin hour. Meanwhile not one person came out to ask us how we were doing, while the staff who were there were chit-chatting amongst themselves. Unfortunately, the food would have been good had it not been cold and we were so frustrated, we just ate because we still had another 2.5 hour drive ahead of us. read more

Was a little nervous to try The Hunter because I've never tried Duck before but I talked to the bartender and he said it was his favorite. The food is always delicious. The service that they could provide was good. On a beautiful Friday night, when there is live music, you know the place is going to be packed. Have more staff working. It was painfully slow. One bartender, one cashier, one poor girl, running food and two people in the kitchen. I had ordered another beer and a glass of wine. They were out of large glasses, so I ordered a small. The keg was empty and the bartender is getting an envelope out from under the register for an employee that was just eating there with 5 people standing in line waiting on the keg. Then she proceeds to start clearing the dirty dishes off the bar. We are still waiting. Okay. They pour my wine, the bartender finally changes the keg and now they are completely out of beer glasses. We have to wait on the glasses to chill while my food is getting cold. All of the tables are full of dirty dishes. I love the food but you need more staff. Maybe someone to bus tables. Bad service. Sat at the bar. Bar tender was really bad but thinks he fooling everyone. Rex or something. Too bad the food was great. The guy who severed me was great but seemed like he was bullied by Rex the bar tender right in front of me and when he came back from leaving the place for God knows what he ignores me. Didn't get me a beer or nothing. I sat there an extra 10-15 minutes with an empty beer just to see how bad it really was. Thought maybe...Nope he went checked his phone out for 5 minutes and then sat down with what looked like the rest of the staff at one of the long tables. In my opinion it's Not busy because of him. Clearly he doesn't care and thinks he is getting over on management. This was at 8 on a Saturday night. I live in woodlake and like German food. Great food and beer. When they opened they had all types of sausages. They have added chicken sandwiches and fantastic burgers you have to try them. The atmosphere is fun and every time we go we meet new people to talk to. My wife loves the jerk chicken salad and their chips are a must try. read more

Good location. There, I found something positive about my experience. The napkin holders had and a two-sided advert stating Happy Hour being from 4-6. Cool, I thought, I'll have two brews instead of one. Heck I'll splurge and have the Bavarian pretzel. Decent, but not worth the $8 I thought I was spending. Stuck me for an $1 extra for a condiment sized container of what they were trying pass off as cheese. Spray cheese would have been a vast improvement. Questioned our server about the happy hour advert. She points across the restaurant to a chalk board that is on the wall to your right immediately as you enter with tiny note scrawled in poor cursive that happy hour is only Monday-Friday. However it states Happy Hour as 4-6 right in front of my face with no mention of restrictions. There are at least 20 of the napkin holder adverts in the restaurant.
