    Happy hour menu May 2026
    Jonathan J.

Honestly, this is a pretty chill spot. I was next-door on a job, figured I'd stop in. The bartenders were very attentive and drinks were great. I didn't have any food, but I actually plan to come back to try the crabcakes. I was there for almost an hour until I realized that there's an ocean view on the other side of the restaurant. Definitely worth coming back to check out. The regulars definitely spoke well of this place, that's what makes me want to come back

If cozy coastal dining was the goal, Stella's Italian definitely hit the mark. The interior was small and intimate, but it became clear that the larger enclosed patio with its heaters, fireplace, and live music was the true focal point of the restaurant. And once you catch the partial ocean view from their patio, the whole experience suddenly feels a bit more elevated and fancy. THE FOOD. - Calamari. Lightly crisp on the outside and tender inside, offering a clean, mild flavor that complimented nicely with its dipping sauces. - Filet Mignon. The steak was succulent and cooked perfectly medium, though the seasoning leaned a bit on the gentle side. However, the spinach swung the other direction with noticeable saltiness. The potatoes were good though. Overall, this dish didn't quite come together for me. - Short Ribs (Menu Special). The short ribs were rich, tender, and full of deep, comforting flavors. The creamy polenta and buttery roasted vegetables made perfect companions, adding both warmth and balance to each bite. Recommend trying this out. THE DRINK. - Catena Malbec. Mildly sweet with notes of red berries, offering a smooth, relaxed finish that paired well with the heartier dishes. THE PARKING. Free surface lot parking. Easy, convenient, and refreshingly drama-free. No circling, no stress. THE VERDICT. A charming spot with great ambiance and dishes - especially those short ribs. Yes, we'd come back to dive deeper into their Italian menu next time.

Stella's never misses. Incredible service and even better food. A great atmosphere to match. Sit on the patio and get an ocean view

We came sooo hungry, I only took one picture! The service is very warm and inviting. We sat on the patio and actually had an ocean view. The sax player adds a wonderful atmosphere to the experience We shared a pizza which was delicious and a couple salads as well as the grilled fish special which was delicious and plenty for two!! Our waiter Gage was very attentive and fun!!

It is rare to find a great restaurant that has a great view. That is Stella's. Also the experience is elevated when there is great service. the servers are consistent and attentive. Happy hour is excellent but can be crowded. I think they are busier at dinner than lunch. I believe they have entertainment but tbh I have no idea what the schedule is. I primarily stick to a seafood salad special. It is great and just the right size for me.

5/31/2026 @ around 8:15pm. I was in the mood for Italian food, and by that I wanted spaghetti with meatballs. This is the place closest to me when I was going through my navigation GPS. I figured I try this place out. I was greeted upon entering and was offered a table promptly and I already knew what I was craving for, I was recommended Spaghetti Bolognese. The table was set with fine silverware, hand towel, and fine china. I was served water and bread without my request, NOW THAT IS DEFINITELY TOP TEIR SERVICE ! I was going to ask for water to drink anyway! Service was excellent, Parmesan cheese was added and the food was freshly prepared and served quickly. Thank you Stella's staff for providing great service! I will return to try other dishes in the future!

A lovely Italian neighborhood restaurant. Located in Dana Point across from Salt Creek in the Gelson's shopping center. Live music, beautiful Italian restaurant with Italian dishes. We just paid for a light bite this evening of wine, pizza and a beautiful Caesar salad. Everything was fresh and lovely as always

Food here is so good, I forget to check in on Yelp sometimes. Still one of my favorite Italian restaurants to this day making it worth the drive to Dana Point. Service is always great as usual and the views from the patio are always perfect on a sunny day. If you're stuck on choosing an appetizer, I recommend ordering the calamari. The batter is light and crispy without being drenched in oil and the squid is perfectly cooked without being too chewy. All the entrees here are delicious, my go to is usually a pizza or the vongole with the white wine sauce. Make sure to ask for some bread to scoop up all the delicious sauce that is underneath the pasta.

Our Valentine's Day experience at Stella's was extremely disappointing. Before our visit, the host called twice to confirm our reservation and specifically stated that it would be an ocean front view, which was the main reason we chose this restaurant for such a special occasion. When we arrived, that arrangement was suddenly changed at the last minute with no clear explanation or real effort to honor what had already been confirmed. Although our assigned server was sweet and attentive and did their best, the rest of the service was very unprofessional. One of the other servers who is bald behaved in a way that was completely inappropriate and made the environment uncomfortable, especially for Valentine's Day and in a restaurant setting. Between the reservation issue and the overall lack of professionalism, the experience was frustrating and far from what we expected. Aside from our server's kindness, nothing stood out positively, and this is not a place I would recommend, especially for a special occasion.

What I love about this place is it is old style classy traditional Italian restaurant. The white linens and arched seating with ocean views. Came in for lunch with my friend and had a great conversation in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. There was no rush to get us out and the food was great. They offer pizza to pasta and a nice selection of wine and cocktails. Hidden gem and great service.

Came here last week for a light weekday lunch. Sean is super amazing!! The food, view, music, service....its what fine dining is supposed to be. I will definitely return!!

    Pollo piccata

Best service, staff was great - food was a tad pricey but tasty. We got two pizzas a. Pollo picatta, lobster ravioli and glass of rose. The lobster ravioli had a great sauce but w chopped up shrimp, that was giving shrimpflatiion! I don't understand why they wouldn't just add a few shrimp to the entree- rather than add cut up shrimp to the sauce feels kinda cheap- but it was still pretty good!

Have not seen live music before. No need to make a reservation for 2 even on a busy night. They have some family style (communal) tables, so you will probably share a large table with some other guests. But that is part of the fun.

We started with some complimentary focaccia with olive oil and balsamic, and then I ordered the cheese and spinach ravioli, that comes with a small side salad. My friend ordered the chicken Parmesan and I highly recommend. That one also comes with a baby side salad as well as broccolini and a small portion of delicious fettuccini Alfredo. It was quite the meal. We finished dinner with one of the best pieces of tiramisu I've ever had. The portion was huge, enough to have some left over for later. I wish I could remember our server's name...she was wonderful! Super friendly and helpful. She also gave great recommendations on what to order. Looking forward to coming back soon!

I then walked over to the counter and asked the employee if the hour parking in the alley was strictly enforced because I planned to be there for about two hours. She said she didn't know. I replied that I would probably have to leave in the middle of lunch to move my car, yet she never mentioned that Giana has a parking lot for customers just on the other side of the building. I only found out because my friend arrived and told me where she had parked. I can't understand why an employee wouldn't share such helpful information with a customer. As for the food, we were the only guests in the restaurant at lunchtime. We ordered a chicken salad and a pasta dish. My salad was very good, but my friend's pasta was unbelievably salty, to the point that it actually burned both of our throats. It was easily the saltiest restaurant dish I've ever tasted. Our server never came back to check on us after delivering the food, so after waiting for quite a while, I had to walk up to the counter and ask her to come to our table. She immediately offered to replace the pasta, and my friend ordered the sausage pasta instead. She really enjoyed the second dish. Since we wanted to try dessert, we each ate only about half of our meals and asked for the leftovers to be boxed up. We also ordered two affogatos, which were delicious and ended the meal on a high note. Unfortunately, that didn't last. The server took our plates to package our leftovers, returned with two bags, called out what she believed were our meals, and handed them to us. We each drove home, about 30 minutes in opposite directions, only to discover that she had given us wrong leftovers. We both lost the meals we had been looking forward to eating for dinner and had to throw away the food we were mistakenly given. I called the restaurant afterward and left a voicemail explaining what had happened, but no one ever returned my call or acknowledged the mistake as a courtesy. There were definitely positives. My salad, the replacement pasta, and the affogatos were all good. However, the overall experience was overshadowed by several avoidable service issues: the lack of parking guidance, having to get up to ask for service after receiving an inedible dish, the mix-up with our leftovers, and the lack of follow up after I called. For a first visit, it was disappointing, and it left me unsure whether I would return.

Wednesday night, dead quiet. Most of San Juan was a few blocks away at the concert, leaving us with the rare luxury of a peaceful patio and a little breathing room. We found a beautiful bottle of Italian wine, listened carefully to the specials like civilized adults pretending not to already know what we wanted, and split a Caesar to start, solid, classic, no nonsense. Then came the real business. Sylvia went with shrimp and angel hair. The shrimp? Perfectly cooked. That elusive sweet spot so many kitchens miss by a mile. Not rubbery, not underdone. Just right. I went for the Osso Buco, boldly promised to rival my grandmother's. Dangerous claim. But they backed it up. Deep, rich, slow-cooked soul food, the kind of dish that tastes like somebody's been standing over it all day, caring. They even brought the marrow spoon, which tells you everything you need to know about intent. Food? Five stars. Wine? Five stars. If I'd tweak anything, it's the details. The waiter and bartender were both in oversized black T-shirts with the logo. Functional, sure, but swap those for black collared shirts and the room instantly feels more polished. The patio could use a little love too. Nothing dramatic. Just tighten it up. Because in this business, especially now, the margins between good and unforgettable are razor thin. We came into Homeslice today to watch the USA v Belgium World Cup game. We arrived around 5:10pm…read morejust after the game started, and were seated at a table on the patio. There was a large group of people (started as a group of five but grew to about 10-12 people) who ended up bleeding into the table next to us and asked if they could take our two extra chairs. Being friendly, we said "sure, no problem!". Shortly after, Marc came over and asked if our chairs had been taken and we let them know that the group next to us asked for them. In response, with deep condescension he responded "No, that isn't okay we have a lot of people waiting", which we understood but we also don't work there and aren't going to be rude to fellow patrons. He then told the group next to us he needed the chairs back only to not actually use said chairs for seated guests. It left all of us very confused for the unnecessary interaction. About 15 minutes later, my husband was looking for our server to order another drink and close out, when Marc came up and told us he needed the table. Mind you, we took time out of our evening to get there early for the game (as did everyone else that evening) and there was no signage nor a heads up from the team onsite that there was a limit on the tables, especially as we weren't the only people there for the very same reason. We had been there about 1.5 hours at that point and there was only a little bit left in the game. The group next to us who had also been there the entire time, and got sat before we did, weren't told they needed to get up, but we were given the third degree for our two spots. When my husband asked if he could get that next drink, Marc responded "I don't take orders" and walked away. Our server then proceeded to not check on us for an additional 20 minutes (we were trying to close out as requested), which ironically made it so we took up their table for the remainder of the game. He also mentioned that he ran into a similar issue with guests the previous week for the game, which sounds to me like an opportunity for better problem-solving skills and coaching amongst the team, not a customer-issue. All of this, only for there to be NO wait when we left AND open tables. Being that my husband and I are both in hospitality management, we were extremely frustrated by the lack of respect and embarrassing customer service by none other than Marc Sullivan, a co-owner of Homeslice. I think it's a bare minimum ask that the management and ownership, have the same decency and respect for paying customers that they expect of the rest of their service staff. By the time we got to our car it was 7pm and hadn't even been two full hours, all for our table to not even be needed. Totally understand it being a busy night but highly recommend that the team game plan better rather than making it the customers' responsibility to highlight where this situation could have been improved. Really bummed to have this experience as we're DP locals and love coming to eat/drink here!
