If I could give 0 stars, I would. We called to make a reservation for Valentine's Day and were told there was a table available. However, when my husband mentioned that our 2-year-old daughter would be joining us, he was told that children were not allowed because if they started crying it could be annoying to other guests and interfere with the singer's performance. I have never felt so discriminated against in my life. The person my husband spoke with was extremely insensitive and unprofessional. Families should not be treated this way. Fideua is located on Twain and University Center near Paradise. Inside is cozy and inviting with elegant crystal chandelier, good seating and a charming wall of art with iconic landscapes. Menu offers daily specials, salads and Andalusian gazpacho, small bites and mini toasted sliders, Spanish pasta and rice dish with choice of vegetables, chicken, seafood, they have sirloin steak, wild caught salmon, as well as desserts, kids menu, and soft drinks. Andalusian Style Cold Tomato Soup ($6) is delightful! It's cooling and made with a flavorful blend of tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, onion, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and topped with fine breadcrumbs. Watermelon Arugula Salad (half portion, $7) is yummy! It's a refreshing salad with arugula, sweet watermelon, fresh cucumber, feta cheese, fresh mint, and drizzles of olive oil, lime, and honey dressing. Pan Con Tomate (3 pieces, $6) is tasty and good! It's toasted bread with garlic, grated tomato, and olive oil. Potatoes with Aioli ($6) is also good! It's deep-fried potatoes with aioli sauce. For dessert, Almond Cake ($6) is lovely! It's soft, gluten-free, has a hint of cinnamon and lemon, and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. This complements wonderfully with Fruit Platter ($6) which has a nice selection of seasonal fruits. This place was AMAZINGLY delicious. The paella, squid ink or meat fenominal. The owners are so warm and caring and super attentive. The pan con tomate and sauté shrimp left us wanting more. We dropped by on a Wednesday evening and had an experience that exceeded all of our expectations. From the friendliness of the chefs, the ambiance and decor, and the delicious food the entire meal was *chef's kiss* wonderful. If I was you, I'd check them out sooner rather than later before they become so popular reservations become difficult to come by. It's still early days (as of our dinner there) for this unique restaurant and we were the only patrons there that night, but considering the thoughtfulness and diligence of the proprietors/chefs, I am very confident the quality of the experience will continue to be as stellar as it was for us. So, for now, make sure to make a reservation so they know you're coming and they'll make sure everything is as perfect as we experienced. Fideua holds a really special place in our hearts. My family and I first discovered Fideua in March during a birthday trip from LA, and Farman's paella completely ruined all other paellas for me--in the best way possible. I've searched high and low in LA and San Diego since then, and nothing even comes close. We finally came back tonight, and every single dish was outstanding. The authenticity of the paella took me back to our vacation in Barcelona. The different varieties of mantaditos were amazing as well. They also made sure that the brought our food out in increments, they basically spaced it out well and explained it to us to ensure we enjoyed everything individually and not overwhelmed our taste buds with all the flavors. Fideua is a small family owned hole in the wall by the sweetest couple who were so welcoming and gave us an overview of how their menu works. We were walkins today so the menu had a variety of paella and fideua along with some really good appetizers. We tried the squid ink seafood paella and the chicken and seafood fideua. We were blown away by the fresh and flavorful dishes presented to us. Chef Farman is one of those people that you are so excited to have met. I called and asked if he could accommodate our party of 12 to celebrate mother's 90th birthday. I felt as if I had just hired my own private party planner. Farmin and his wife went over the top, planning the menu, taking into account various food allergies and even went out and bought balloons, banners and napkins celebrating the 90th birthday. They arranged a 3 course meal, including some nuts/cheese to start. Paella was fantastic and the assorted desserts were over the top. Nice interior decors that reminds you of Spain, plus you get a great view of the sphere off to the distance! Really enjoyed the machego appetizer, the cure meat isn't too salty and cheese isn't too sharp. Salad was wonderful, combination of curry sauce as dressing was rather unique. If you try the squid ink rice dish, I would recommend the olive oil and pepper dressing. The Fideua dish had noodles that were al dente, plus with unique flavors that combines well with the seafood ingredients, next time I would like to try different protein on the noodles.
