    Strawberry margarita

I love getting into the various neighborhoods to get off the beaten path to try new restaurants but when I'm meeting friends I usually stay mainstream because not everyone likes to go to the ethnic neighborhoods that I go to and they wouldn't go to naturally on their own. Today I picked this place for lunch to try in a very ethnic part of the city and they actually came. The place is small with a bar that is very colorful on the outside and the inside with all Spanish people eating so that's a good sign if the locals fill the place. The menu is big with lots of choices and a noticeable nice seafood menu. My buddy's actually liked the place from the start and we were given an empanada plate with chips and salsa. We ordered a round of margaritas which we all liked so we had a second round later with lunch. The complementary empanadas plate was a nice surprise. A man played guitar and and sang songs which was nice ambience while we ate and drank our margaritas. I ordered the combination plate with a steak taco, ground beef enchilada, Al Pastor tostada with rice and beans. The steak taco was American style on a large flour tortilla with lettuce, tomato and sour cream which was good. The ground beef enchilada was was smothered in red sauce and two cheeses and was also good. The Al pastor tostada was good also with the pork that was average with beans, peppers, lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream that was tasty. The rice was cooked perfect and fluffy and the beans were very good because the were very flavorful and seasoned nicely, not bland at all. As a couple Italians and a polish guy we definitely stood out in the place but a nice guy at the end of bar sent over a round of tequila shots which was very cool and welcoming to strangers, that made my day. Overall we had a great lunch and my buddy's said that this was a great choice and one even said it's the best Mexican food he has had and I replied that you have to get into the neighborhoods, no it's not the best Mexican food that I have had but it's was pretty good and they made us feel very welcome.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. I don't know how they're able to keep their prices so low, but I'm definitely here for it. The oysters were fresh and the paella was amazing. I'll be be frequenting this place often.

Wonderful, I have been coming here for a while and I'm always happy with my service and my food. I came today with my mother for lunch and we both got the ceviche tostadas and they are always soooooo delicious I could eat them everyday!

She came up to our table multiple times during the evening to chat with us and ask us how our meal was. It's pretty amazing that she is the sole chef in the restaurant and is able to prepare all the meals while also checking in with patrons regularly. The food was really good. They have two prefix options, and we went with the paella, with an appetizer, dessert and bottle of rosé. Each course felt thoughtfully curated, beautifully presented, and bursting with authentic flavor. The warm staff and intimacy is something unique and different than anything else we've experienced. It's rare to find a place where you can experience both world-class cuisine and the personal touch of the people behind it. FYI, there is a price to be paid for such wonderful food and service. But for a special occasion, it's well worth the money spent and would be right up near the top of my list. They brought out multiple flaming presentations (a margarita tree with sparkler on top as well as some sort of plaster animal with a flame and shots). Each time they brought out one, they had loud music that they played with the presentation. It didn't bother us but if you want a quiet dinner, this might not be your place. For my dinner, I got the three tacos (carnitas). They were flavorful and delicious. I didn't opt to get the rice and beans with it but honestly, they were plenty filling without it. The service was friendly and as quick as could be expected with the big party going on. Get to it!

Fucking love this place…read more If there is a highly rated small plates place in a location we are visiting, you can count on us to find it. We walked literally thirty minutes to this place from our hotel. It was a lovely walk in early August. We had a 5:45pm reservation on a Thursday (we are old now) and we were seated immediately. Service was excellent. Ok so they have a fantastic cocktail menu. I appreciate any cocktail menu that is more complex than vodka and cranberry juice but this takes it to another level of creativity. I also like how they name them with numbers. It's so much easier to say "I'll have a 42" rather than "I will have a duperbeamerscicle". I started with an "88" with pisco, rose-poached strawberry, amontillado sherry, verjus, rose port, and pink peppercorn. Served in a highball glass and garnished with berries. Very refreshing. GF started with the "91" mezcal, passion fruit, poblano, pineapple, amaro, lime. Gorgeous and chic. Very strong, smoky flavor. When in Rome, so the cheese plate did not feel like an option. Four fantastic cheeses were served with very tasty candied nuts, some jam business, grapes, and some of the best bread I have had on a cheese plate. Thick, soft, and fluffy. Paired absolutely perfectly with cheese. Only complaint is that I wish there was more of it. I haven't had deviled eggs in a minute so I went wild and also had the chili crisp deviled eggs which were SPECTACULAR. I also got the Egyptian fried cauliflower which is served on a smear of harissa and lemon tahini. Very flavorful. Star of the show tbh was the tagliatelle with squash, tomato, these fried cheese crisps. The noodles were al dente and SO GOOD in such a wonderful sauce. GF also got the steak, she says "very good seasoning". I helped her out with the kimchi pancake. Wonderful. Such a great sauce. For our second round of dranks we both went with the "77" makrut lime vodka, tamarind, bird's eye chili, cilantro, lime, lemongrass. Very tamarind forward. Very unique. I can see why it's our server's favorite drink on the menu. The desserts looked really good (something with sticky rice I think it was a cocktail and a bread budding that looked fantastic) but we just weren't feeling it.

The deviled eggs were easily our favorite and are an absolute must-order. We also loved the flatbread with fiddleheads, which featured a delicious curry-inspired flavor that reminded us of an Indian dish. My husband couldn't stop talking about the bread pudding and said it was one of the best desserts he's had. Everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. If we lived in Milwaukee, Odd Duck would absolutely become one of our regular spots. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in town.
