Stopped in to work for a few hours. The coffee is good and I bought some beens for our espresso machine. However, after trying to sit inside for a bit and sweating a lot I moved outside. It was just TOO warm in there. It was only like 66 F outside. Not sure why it was so warm inside. Also, service was a bit slow but it was packed and there was one person making coffee. When I think of a perfect location for a coffee shop, this one takes it. Corner lot, in the center of downtown. Just a perfect place to have a cup o joe. I doubled up today and went with a smoothie with my coffee. Perfect fresh fruit taste. The coffee choice was a first "bourbon caramel latte". A little sweet but also a little rustic. It settles well and I enjoyed it until the last sip. I'm still working on my smoothie but I don't see my taste buds saying it's not as good as it was at first. Thanks 5th Street! Came in here for a quick coffee break during the downtown Gilroy 4th of July event! My order was taken right away and the staff were super friendly. They had so many unique options to choose from, and I picked the horchata latte (with oat milk). Very tasty! Not too sweet but very flavorful. Definitely would order this again the next time I roll through this part of town! They also have Marianne's ice cream which is super nice, and a small selection of baked goods, too! Gilroy is a small town and this is the best coffee place in Gilroy in my opinion. My favorite is the spanish latte. They sell cute kitchen stuff and have cute succulents at the tables outside. I usually order to-go but its better than Starbucks IMO. Sometimes i splurge and order a fresh baked blueberry muffin to go with my coffee. I always recommend and come back! read more

When I first came here, I was sooooo excited because they have an horchata latte on the menu. Not many coffee shops have horchata as part of the menu. I first had it hot and it was so delicious. Just the right blend of all around goodness. This coffee shop is nowhere near my house but when I am in the area I always make it a point to stop here. I only have gotten the horchata lattes every time I have come but none of them have tasted like my first one. It's been a slow decline of not so great tasting coffee each time. I stopped by today and decided to change it up because maybe horchata just wasn't going to do it anymore. I decided to try their coconut latte. Bleh. Did not taste like coconut, it was bitter and even though I specifically asked if it was sweet, it wasn't. I could do a lot better with my little Keurig at home. Yelp steered me wrong here. Coffee is bitter with not good flavors. Service is bland and music is too loud to hear names being called so order just sit in the counter. If you enjoy a good cup of pure, good coffee, stop! Do not enter. We did not try the sweetened (masked) flavored coffees to be fair so perhaps they do better there. The server who had taken my girlfriends order was super rude yesterday. He had gotten the order completely wrong and she had gone up to say she had ordered something else and he said "whatever I have written down on it is what it is on the system" even though she asked for a toasted almond latte with oat milk. Then she had said it's fine I'll still drink it. Then another barista took the coffee and said they cannot allow it in case it is someone else's. There was no one in the coffee store at all other than her. Everyone was just so rude, but today however there was a girl that took our order and was super nice and friendly I didn't get the chance to ask for her name but she was by far the one staff who we both liked that did an amazing job and was overall showing excellent customer service. read more

When I walked into the Fifth St Coffee Roasting Co's cafe in downtown Gilroy, it had that vibe. You know the one. The one that says, "We sell good coffee here." Then I saw the menu: it wasn't overly complex, and yet it had the right array of offerings. Notably, the only drip coffee options were pour-overs of six or so single-origin beans. This told me that they had a certain level of pride in their roasting craft. To me, it all added up to expecting an excellent cup of coffee heading my way. I ordered a pour-over of a Costa Rica coffee. The pour-over amount was generous -- enough to fill a medium coffee cup. The resulting coffee was excellent. I'd come back for more for sure. Next time I'm in Gilroy, you can bet I'll be back for another cup! read more

Nice little corner spot with a couple outside tables. I got myself a pour over and they did a decent job. A couple of chocolate croissants and I was out in less than 10 minutes. Been coming hete for years and loved it but today I came and ordered a latte and it looked dark, I was gonna pour more milk and they ran out so I drank my latte- a few minutes later I had the worst shakiness heart papulations and felt like fainting or seizuring from how much caffeine was in my small cup. Get you im a extreme coffee lover and have never had this issue or caffeine issues in the last 8 years. I even drink two coffees a day in the past and never had this happen. The person who made my coffee today put straight various shots or made it too strong because never in my life have I experienced such horror of shakiness and papulations over a beverage . They're lattes are good but please be extremly careful this was and extremly scary for me as it's been an hour and I chugged so much water and still shaky heart papulations - and I don't have any medical issues or this experience before. Please add more milk to lattes and don't make it so strong or train employees to make it correctly bc in the last 3 years coming here I haven't had this happen read more

On a cold California morning, we found ourselves passing through Gilroy and stopped by Fifth St. Cofee for something to eat and grab a coffee. One of the best decisions that morning. We got the Almond Honey Latte and a cappuccino along with an almond croissant and a bear claw. Oh, what a delight that was. The almond flavor in the coffee was subtle and not too overbearing to shadow the coffee. The heated croissant was fresh and delicious. If you find yourself in Gilroy be sure to give them a visit. Came here on the way to LA and it was a worthwhile stop! They had a colorful menu with classic coffees and lattes and original ones. I had the cardamom latte and it was delicious. We also bought a pastry and forgot about it in the car and it was still soft the next day. Parking is street only, we went around 7 am so ample parking We didn't wait long for our drinks at all, and the place was cute. I don't believe they had lots of seating but it was early. Such a cute coffee shop in downtown Gilroy. I stumbled upon this place while working in the area and in search for a cafe that served lavender coffee. Since it's in the downtown area you'll have to look for street parking. The interior is spacious and has a nice crafty look. Staff was friendly and nice. I ordered the lavender honey latte, iced. Price was reasonable and it was pretty good. You can really taste the hints of lavender and honey which didn't over power the coffee. I enjoyed it. read more

Cashier was rude, made a drink wrong, and then told us it was wrong (oat milk instead of regular milk) but let us know in an exasperated tone that she could remake it if it was "really that big of a deal". Six dollars for a latte, a tip on top, and the drink isn't even right? This place has a few things to learn from the big green chain, and that's a sad statement. I regretted tipping at the POS, but the place has some potential, I'll give it that. But next time I'm on that end of the county I'll be going elsewhere, even if it's the big green chain (yuck). read more

Cute shop and location. They have unique syrup/combo and coffee bean flavors. Latte's are reasonably priced, but espresso coffee bean bags are around $20, a bit steep. My dad isn't a big coffee drinker, but after trying their lavender latte, he was hooked- seems to make a pit stop here every week now. I would also recommend it if you're a student looking for a quiet place to study.  Order ahead of time during peak hours. This could also be a fun place to host paint nights. read more

Awkward & robotic-like is the only way to describe it. No emotion. Despite that, I went here 3x in a row because the coffee was truly D-LISH! LOL. Maybe they sense the out of towners so they don't waste thier time...IDK? Either way I still recommend it. Great coffee is good enough for me and not everyone's a people person. Yikes. I'm so sorry to say, this coffee is really bad. I cannot figure out why :-( I didn't think coffee could taste bad. When passing through town here, headed back from the Bay Area, I thought surely I could jump on Yelp! and find an amazing vanilla latte, whereas to "not settle for Starbucks". It was a grievous mistake to assume that anything followed by the words "Roasting Co" was going to be a sure shot, and $8 well spent. They're nice people, and there are some obvious regulars from within town sitting around, but the coffee tastes terrible, almost like a mushroom but not on purpose. How a sweetened vanilla latte could taste like that- I sincerely don't know. I needed the caffeine so badly that I plugged my nose and downed some more but hand to god, I had to put it in the trash immediately. This isn't typically my type of review but throwing money down the drain kinda sucked, and being left deprived of caffeine meant I was a less-than-pleasant road trip partner thereafter. read more

The "El Salvador" beans (if they even are from El Salvador) are no doubt the worst coffee beans I've ever purchased from a small coffeeshop. I only decided to pick up a bag since the shop I typically order from was having some delays with shipping. I would have been better served walking into Wal-Mart and buying the cheapest, oldest coffee off their shelves. Burnt, flavorless, and with no discernible roast date it made for an impressively poor cup of coffee this morning. When I called the shop to let them know about their beans, thinking that there must be some mistake and they don't really expect people to drink this, I was surprised that I was offered a $10 gift card. I mean, it's not equivalent to the $22 I wasted, but I appreciated their attempt at amnesty from the shop and swung by to collect the gift card. Instead, the leprechaun-looking ginger man who probably roasted the beans was personally offended that I thought the coffee was burnt, and he made an off-color remark that I should try the beans from Mexico. A little strange and oddly specific since I am Mexican, but it was a good recommendation; I generally like coffee from Mexico when it's roasted by someone who actually knows what they're doing. He was so offended that you'd think he busted his back harvesting the beans from his farm in El Salvador himself. Probably not; he was a lanky, wimpy man. He and the woman who I assume is the owner had a disagreement over what the $10 gift card could be used for. They tried to tell me it could only be used to buy another bag of beans, which I found to be a very specific caveat. Keep in mind that the bag I had initially bought was $22. Actually ridiculous that they expected me to pony up more money for more beans. I didn't even want to get into it with these people; I would never spend money here again. read more
