Very vegan-friendly! Came across this place while looking for vegan restaurants in the area. They have a full, separate menu with all vegan options which is very helpful if you follow a vegan diet. At most restaurants you'll be lucky if they label one or two items as vegan. I felt like I had plenty of options and everything sounded good. I wanted to try the burrito, but the price adds up quickly due to the extra charge for each added vegetable. I wish it would just come with the vegetables included. I got the power bowl instead with the tofu scramble. The bowl was very light and healthy. It wasn't drenched in oil or sauce like most places do. The tofu scramble was amazing. One of the best ones I've had. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The owner came over to chat for a minute at the end of our meal, which was also a nice surprise. One felt it was a little salty, the other didn't get the egg cooked the way it was requested. Service was interesting. Stop by today for breakfast with my son. We used to go there years ago when it had a different name and management. We were seated quickly as we were only 2 guest. The place was busy and as was summer and a Saturday on the cape. Our order was taken by a lovely young server. Water was given. Now the bad part. After waiting longer than normal we realized something was wrong as we noticed a lot of tables around us were waiting for food. It seemed the kitchen was getting food out very slow. The server came by about 20 minutes to a half hour and told us the were down a cook in the kitchen. Everyone around had the same concern and look of where is our food. The manager or hostess came over and said the same thing that they were down a cook. I asked her why we were not told this when we were seated. She didn't seem to have a good answer. She said she would check on our order. 10 minutes later she came back and still could not tell us when our food would be arriving. At this point it was 45 minutes and we still didn't have food At this point it was obvious it was going to be a longer wait. I asked again why she didn't let us know about the delay when we were seated. We could have made a decision to not dine there. She was not very apologetic and didn't seem to any answers. We decided to leave and find food somewhere else. It's sad because we had good memories there from years ago. Now it's a bad memory. Ambiance was good and the food that did come out looks good. Too bad we never had a chance to try it. We will not come back mainly because they were not up front with their guest on the delays of food because they were short handed in the kitchen. A fully stocked kitchen (with a dining room to match) meant finally being able to try The Mill's strong suit: brunch foods! I can't say enough about the personalities of the staff. Even under patron-packed stressors, they keep their cool, always smile and never leave you unattended for too long (without being constantly underfoot). It's an art form and they're all masters. The homemade hash is good, although the eggs were done hard on a requested over medium, and the corned beef more or less middle school prommed it with peppers, onions and potatoes. Seasoned well and fork tender, I hoped for something to literally bring it all together. Tasty though, no doubt. The wife had a slightly underdone pancakes, but nothing egregious. Other than price, this place is the bee's knees! My dad took me here because it is one of his favorite places. Love the small-town feel and cute atmosphere. It was a Coffe and pastry shop, we thought, but it was so much better than we could have hoped for. The pastry is so delicious, there are wonderful choices from sweet to savory and the chef is so extremely talented. After a late morning meeting in Cotuit, my wife and I went over to see if we could get into The Fig Tree Cafe (149 Cotuit Rd, Marstons Mills) for lunch. We arrived slightly after 12 pm and were fortunate to snag one of only two remaining parking spots in the lot. To our delight, we were greeted and seated promptly upon entering the restaurant. We've enjoyed lunch at this venue quite a few times over the years, going back to when it was an equally delicious restaurant called The Mills (many in this Group, I am sure, will remember The Mills). The Fig Tree which opened in September 2020 (not the most auspicious time to open a restaurant) is a most suitable successor to The Mills which was committed to the presentation of quality food, friendly service, and a warm, home-like ambiance. We were not terribly hungry and knew from previous dining experiences there that many of the delicious list of sandwiches available for lunch (an extensive breakfast menu is available all day as well) were going to be too much for us to eat. So without consultation, we both ended up ordering the exact same thing--home-made chicken and rice soup and half a classic grilled cheese sandwich along with coffee for my wife (literally fresh-brewed) and an iced tea for me. (This is what happens when you're going on 45 years of marriage--it's a mind-meld kind of thing--lol.) Drinks arrived quickly from another friendly member of the wait staff and our meals soon followed. The soup (which also came with the ubiquitous package of oyster crackers) was rich and flavorful, filled with large chunks of moist white meat, an ample supply of vegetables, and rice which was mercifully not overcooked). The grilled cheese was equally delicious, softly melted Vermont cheddar on whole wheat bread, beautifully grilled with just slightly crispy edges. It was the perfect amount of food for us. We've sampled a variety of items for lunch on past occasions with equal pleasure--house-made clam chowder, double-brie grilled cheese with apple slices and fig jam, house-made corned beef hash, the grilled Rueben with lovely, thin-sliced corned beef and sauerkraut on Marble Rye, among others. I really like that they have duck eggs on the menu (a rarity on most menus) and that most of their bread is sourced from Pain D'Avignon in Hyannis. My partner and I went out to the Fig Tree Cafe for our anniversary breakfast after yelping nearby eats around Cotuit. We were very pleased with everything - great service, a friendly vibe, and exceptional food at a reasonable price. My parter enjoyed cheese grits with eggs, sausage, sourdough and fig jam. The sausage - a house-made maple turkey - was the best I've ever tasted! It went especially well with the fig jam and I recommended to our waitperson that they feature that combo in a lunch special sandwich. I had the Cotuit croissant, gooey ham and cheese egg heaven!
