If I could give a zero star review I would. I wrote that it was my best friends birthday in my reservation notes and asked if something could be brought out, I even snuck away and spoke to the hostess and manager about a dessert being brought out. Even chose which one and then it was never brought and the check was brought out to us. Our waitress was pretty rude, also took them about 25 minutes to seat us with a reservation, also food took forever to come out and wasn't that great. I overall would never go here again. read more

Wow this place is so good. I've been twice now. The food is delicious and the beachside view can't be beat. I HIGHLY recommend the plantain coconut multigrain pancakes. Why have I never thought of putting fried sweet plantains on pancakes before? It's genius! These pancakes are not overly sweet, and have a super nice texture due to all the grains and coconut. Their savory brunch options are also spectacular--tablemates raved about the chicken tinga hash, the chilaquiles, and the huevos rancheros. Just do yourself a favor and come here for brunch, seriously. Btw, the first time I came I had a large group with no reservation, and we were able to be seated. The second time, I had a reservation. I was in town for only 4 days but I ate here at least 3 times . Food was delicious, specially the mushroom tostada , amazing spicy margarita. I also loved the music selection, being from Brazil but living in the States for almost 20 years I loved that they play lots of Brazilian music . Went here today for brunch and as other reviewers have said, this is a super cute place on beach boardwalk front. When I came, there was also a street entertainer singing so live music in the background plus beach view - how amazing is that. I got the chorizo omelette -- and let me tell you, delicious!! We got seated immediately but didn't have a waitress come to take our order for 15-20 minutes, once our waitress came she immediately started flirting with my father, was swearing, and kept waving us off when we tried to order. When we finally ordered, she refused to read it back to us, even though we asked her to, she was still too focused on my father. Our order came and our appetizers didn't come nor did one of our main courses... because suprise, she didn't put it in. The smoothies were settled (we only received 3 of the 4 smoothies) so all the juice was at the bottom, the pasta was as crunchy, and my brother asked for no pickles in his burger (which our waitress made a big deal of) and there were still pickles. Our bill came and there was an automatic 18% gratituity which usually is fine, but in this case it was absolutely ridiculous. I went here on a date not knowing I was about to have one of the best dining experiences I've ever had in Venice/Santa Monica area of Los Angeles From the manager Adam and waitress Monica who checked on me my table countless times to make sure we were set and taken care of! To the great food and drinks. Highly recommend and will be having more meals at place. I wish there were more places by the beach (on the boardwalk) that brought this level of service that you normally find in hotels. Mot to mention the music, energy, and overall vibe. We visited the Fig Tree on October 21st and I gotta say, what a find! Service: These peeps were super busy and not gonna lie, we felt it a bit with the long wait for our food. BUT all of our orders were right, the food was worth waiting for, and we never ran out of beverages. Food: We didn't know what was vegan, so hubby and I ordered a bunch of sides to make tacos with (tortillas, beans, potatoes, and avocado). Normally when we do this, we are very happy with the normal hardy taste of that combo... but wow this was better. Each side was rich in flavor -- the tortillas were rich in that delicious corn taste, the black beans and potatoes were seasoned so complementary and subtly, and the avocado had a slight lime/citrus flavor. The combo was amazing. The corn tortilla chips were super tasty as well. Our cousins and aunt had the chicken nachos, chicken sandwich, and hamburger.... they were all very happy with their choices. read more

I'm typing this as I'm paying my check. Absolutely one of the top worst dining experiences I've ever had. We arrived, the hostess was about to walk us to our table, and then made a comment about my pitbull and about how they've had "dog issues" lately and that she'd have to sit us in the secluded section in the back. Our waitress was absolutely terrible. She took our orders and didn't check on us once the entire rest of the dining experience. We had to wave someone down to ask her for the check. THERE WAS A BLACK SHORT HAIR IN OUR FOOD. And she gave us no apology, she didn't even come back to get us something else. We had to ask a food runner if he could get it taken off our bill and taken back. The entire staff was awful, and the only thing they have going is the ambiance. This is truly a hidden gem in Venice! I usually don't come down to the area but had seen good reviews and wanted to try. We came for lunch on a Saturday and sat on the gorgeous patio! It can be a little sunny so be sure to wear sunscreen. I ordered a glass of rose and the autumn arugula salad (which came with walnuts, grapes, and a delicious vinaigrette). Portions on the salad were generous and the salad was great. The rose was slightly more acidic than I would have liked, but I think that's due to it being a natural wine! The ambience, service and location are great and lovely. But the food was barely food. The calamari was very steal and over-salted. The prices on the menu were not the final prices on the bill. We weren't sure what to expect of this cafe given the location right on the Venice Beach ocean front, but we were so happy to find that our experience far exceeded our hopes. The food was excellent. We ordered their deservedly popular plantain and coconut pancakes, which were hearty without being heavy, not too sweet, and had the perfect balance of textures. We also had the delicious granola and yogurt, featuring sweet rhubarb, bright kumquat and tangerine slices, and a nicely crunchy granola. Stopped into Fig Tree for the first time today and absolutely loved everything about it. The atmosphere and vibe is so welcoming and comfortable, we felt like we were in an oasis in the middle of the Venice boardwalk. WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE First of all the interior design and greenery of this place is to die for! I'm in town visiting some friends from back home, we came to Venice with no set plan and stumbled upon this amazing little cafe. We sat on the patio that is covered by lovely sunshade and has the cutest little wood furniture. Waters were brought to the table right away and i ordered the Fig Tree Mimosas with included Hibiscus and Lemon that was just phenomenal. We ordered and started with the Shareable nachos and HANDS DOWN these were the best nachos I've ever had. They come as is with no meat and girl, you don't meet it. These nachos had cauliflower and carrots on top which i'd never seen done before but don't doubt this chef! the combination of the flavors was honestly life changing. Moving onto our entrees, firstly the presentation was *chefs kiss*, the flavor was even better. I am an avid consumer of french fries and these fries please my sense in every way perfectly, and the Chicken Avocado sandwich with basil pesto was exactly what I needed. 100/10 recommend, already thinking about the next time I'll be able to come back! read more

Our waitress came back once to ask if I wanted another drink, and then she left for the day. I finally flagged down another waiter for the check. Tips should be earned not demanded. there are definitely a lot of choices on the boardwalk around venice and everyone has their favorites. I was invited to the fig tree last year by a friend for a business lunch and have been a frequent return guest ever since. i am a big fan of the breakfast burrito, avocado chicken melt and fish grilled fish quesadilla they are all delicious and have never had a bad one. the waiters are all nice and service is pretty fat and they always keep your drinks full. Although i have never been a huge gin fan the aquarius is great and i have possibly had way more than necessary. iThd resutaurant is right on the boardwalk and the patio is perfect on a nice day. sometimes it does get a little too sunny and i prefer a spot inside looking out at the beach through the windows in the shade and that works well too. one tip i might point out is beware of the included tip i have occasionally double tipped after a few drinks and realized after i paid more in tips than the bill not that it's that bad of a thing to do but you know always trying to spend as much possible and occasionally that happens there. read more

Overall, just ok. The location had a fantastic beachfront view and it's a cute patio. Hostess sat me at someone else's table who had just gotten up for the bathroom, so that was a little awk. The food is just ok. I got the breakfast burrito and a Bloody Mary. The bloody was pretty good! The burrito was average. The service is kind of slow but perhaps they are short staffed. I know this isn't their fault, but having to walk through literal piles and puddles of feces to get to the restaurant after finding parking is unpleasant.
