Everything was delicious. Had the avocado toast that was loaded and kids had the multigrain pancakes which I was skeptical they would like because they can be picky eaters, but they were amazing. The view of the beach is the only thing this place has going for it. The staff is unfriendly and on the sassy side. They're also very talented at walking past your table with their heads turned to avoid any eye contact and will ignore you if you say "excuse me". The food was just ok. My bacon was burnt to a crisp and my friend's avocado toast included no more than a slight smear of avocado (and the rest was a heap of sprouts to hide the paucity of avocado). The salsa matcha was good though. They automatically add 20% to your check so maybe that's why they don't feel the need to provide service. My advice is to get food somewhere else and then walk down to the beach for the views so you don't have to suffer through a brunch at Fig Tree Cafe. read more

We come here every Sunday, it is the best spot on the boardwalk. Today was a sad day. When we arrived we were told they took the chorizo omelet off the menu. Such a disappointment. This place is a gem. The ambience is unbeatable. Feels like you are in another country. We also felt really safe from COVID because of the spacing of the tables and the constant sea breeze. We ordered the salmon tostadas, the water melon salad, the whole fish, and the shrimp roll. Food was incredible. The salmon tostada and the whole fish were our favorites but you really can't go wrong with the shrimp roll if you are a fan of lobster rolls. Service was attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. We also got the blood orange mezcal cocktails which were delicious and strong enough to be buzzed for the evening. Compared to the other restaurants on the westside, your money goes A LOT further here. All in all, they checked all the boxes of a great evening out of the house. Will be back soon. read more

The margaritas tasted like what you would expect at a dive bar, like a Costco pre made mix, but way overpriced for what it was at $14 each. The food was mediocre and extremely overpriced. We asked the server about guacamole and she informed us that we would have to purchase the guacamole and the separate chips and salsa for a total of $11 for a chips and guac basically. Why would the guacamole come without chips? And have no other option than ordering the other chips and salsa in order to eat it? I ordered two tostadas which were $7 each which made me think it would be substantial. The tostadas were so small I was left hungry. I got the scallop and the salmon tostadas, they smelled extremely fishy in a not appetizing way. It said it came with a salsa but it was like a flavorless juice, I have no idea what it was but it provided no value. My friend got the fish fajitas which prepare yourself because they serve the fish with its eyes and all that so just know that. It was mediocre tasting as well. We observed another table with wine in glasses that looked like they were from the Dollar Tree. read more

I haven't had to many good experiences in California with restaurants but I've finally found one worthy of taking the time to review and help others find a great spot. I went for breakfast on a Sunday afternoon and had the coffee and pancakes, that were great and for something seeming simple it was really worth it. Parking was actually a breeze about a block away and the service was friendly and attentive, the manager, Adam stopped by our table to check on us and was pleasant and made for a relaxing atmosphere! Thanks to the staff and glad I found this gem, it's definitely a new regular spot and where I'll be taking friends who visit soon. read more

Food was great. Got the grilled bread, a parfait, and a chocolate cake. Cake was very small portion and expensive, but tasted good. Service was terrible. Sat us down, waited awhile and took our order. Then brought our food out and didn't check on us once. We had to call the waiter over to fill our water up since we were all out. Not a single person said goodbye to us on our way out. 18% gratuity was automatically added along with a 2% "health fee." Tip was not deserved. read more

I've been a regular patron of Fig Tree for more than 20 years. Hadn't been there during COVID until today. The place looks nice but the breakfast menu is definitely not as large as it used to be. There were none of the regulars who I've seen for years on a Saturday morning - maybe b/c of COVID, maybe not. I would like to have seen the new owners keep the old menu and add new things and figure out how to blend with the popular items and add new things. Eggs bandelier and the cornmeal pancakes were a common favorite of many diners. read more

The food was really good but the service was absolutely terrible. I never received my drink that I had asked two different people for and they still tried to charge me for it. The waitress seemed to have friends who were eating at the cafe so she only took care of their table and we could never get her attention. When we finally asked for the check it took her 20 minutes to actually get it because we had to ask someone else. Was told margarita was served up, but came on rocks. So I asked for it up. Came back dumped in a wine glass with no salt rim (which I had requested). So eventually I bypass the wait staff and go straight to the bartender who serves it up and in a proper glass but again without the salt. I gave up and drank it. Was acceptable. We both ordered the branzino fajitas. These were mediocre with no flavor and I was so hungry that when I came home that I had a protein bar. No one filed our empty water glasses. Lively ambiance. Despite our clear direction to the waiter that the entrées will be served after ( not with) the appetizers, they came almost immediately and had to be sent back under the heat lights, which rendered the flat iron steak overcooked when it was served. Pepper deli and squid ink with mussels and clams was well sauced, but the clams were tiny. I was very surprised that a double rum Coke was charged as two $9 dollar drinks (that's right, $18 for bar soda and rum) when our craft cocktails were $14 and $16. When I raise the issue the very professional waiter was apologetic but said there was nothing he could do except to mention it to management. If we weren't visiting Venice but at home we would not revisit this restaurant. read more

Amazing! Such a gem. Wonderful vibes and ocean view. My favorite starters are the scallop tostada and the duck pastrami with melon and figs. The salmon was amazing as a main! All the ingredients are super fresh and I could see they had just been to the framer's market because everything is very seasonal. Found this place while going on a Venice walk. It's an amazing little jewel of a restaurant. Everything was top notch. From the expertly crafted coffees (I had three) to the zucchini and cherry tomato omelet with homemade salsa. Even the fruit bowl was fresh cut and unique. The food was great, I had the breakfast burrito and it was delicious. The servers were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was inviting and pretty. The only negative was the coffee. Maybe I am used to coffee in Seattle, but the cold brew tasted flavorless other than bitterness. It reminded me of motel breakfast coffee. For $5 I expect some pretty decent coffee, but was pretty disappointed. read more

Amazing cocktail & burger, super cute, fun environment, reasonably priced & best of all was the astounding service. Wish I caught my server's name last night because he could not have been kinder. I brought my dog & he brought her biscottis and a water bowl, and was so accommodating when we asked to move tables further away from another dog. I felt bad that my dog was being an inconvenience but he was so patient, polite and helpful. Other staff at the restaurant were just as polite & chill & that is rare.
