It's been a while (since Covid?) that we have been to Figlio, long a big favorite of ours. Our visit three days ago did not disappoint. The food was delicious and portions generous. Visited Figlio for the first time in two years. Unfortunately seems service and food quality/portions have declined significantly. Took about 5 mins for someone to come to our table upon seating. She brought waters and we asked for a soda. The soda did not come for another 20 minutes (after we asked/reminded). Waitress also mentioned she was bringing bread to the table, which took another 10 minutes. Portion sizes are drastically smaller than they used to be. Peasant salad was extremely small and had huge pieces of the butt of the lettuce head. The pasta pictured is $22, and the dish was the size of my hand - also only had 3 strips of chicken breast. We alerted the waitress that 2 pepper shakers we tried to use seemed to be out of pepper, but we weren't offered a different shaker. We saw others being offered fresh cracked pepper for their salads, but we were not offered that option. Ambience was fine, but we were seated in a corner table out on the "covered patio" area of the restaurant, and we did not get much attention. Overall, disappointing experience from a service and quality/portion perspective. read more

We eat out in the Dayton/South Dayton area quite often and for some reason, we tend to forget about Figlio. Maybe because it's set back in the corner of Towne and Country. Apparently other people don't forget about them because they always seem to be hopping! We are always pleased with our service and enjoy the food as well. Tonight, I got the Tipsy Chicken Pasta, which was very good, but it had very little chicken in the dish. Everyone else at our table liked their pasta dishes as well. After dinner, both couples split desserts. We had the ice cream torte, which was plenty for two! It was the perfect ending to a nice meal. One extra thing to note: the staff was very patient with my in-laws, who are in their upper 80s, and take a little longer to order. read more

Have eaten here MANY times, never disappointed, but last night we were very disappointed with the size of the side Peasant Salad. It was VERY "downsized" from all previous visits. It was approximately 5 bites, looked like approximately 1/2 cup. Nice place with an upbeat feel. We went rather early and already the bar and dining room were filling up. We all went with pasta dishes. I had the Spicy tomato sauce with blackened chicken over penne. Very tasty with a nice level of heat. Grabbed an old fashion cocktail that was well made and very tasty. The wait staff was very attentive with out being intrusive. We have recently starting going back to Figlio's after forgetting about them for several years. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Kettering, actually in the Dayton area. In fact, my husband and I love it so much we are here the night of our wedding. Our first meal here included the chicken diablo and in our opinion it is one of the most wonderful dishes they serve. I have had the seafood version as well at it is absolutely to die for. Restaurant week was a great time to try multi courses and share with family. Figlio's was exceptional. Peasant Salad & Caesar are always great. We tried the Mushroom pizza it was so delicious. We had a pesto pasta, and creamy pasta both were delicious with Crème brûlée & tiramisu desserts. Our server was lovely attentive and offered wine pairing that were perfect We sat under the glass greenhouse with a little candle on our table. Perfect pasta and wonderful pizza Prices are reasonable and out of 5 visits we haven't had a bad wait staff member at all. One of our neighborhood faves! Tucked away in Town & Country, don't let the location fool you. Upon approach, you're greeted with the delightful smell of their wood burning pizza oven. And garlic. And herbs. Basically every delicious smell rolled into one dancing through the air. I've been to both the Dayton and Columbus locations since the early 2000s and have always had excellent service and good. Small but cozy bar area. Review is for the Kettering, Ohio location and spans 2 recent visits, 9/27/25 and 11/1/25, same 4 patrons, same 4 meals. At each visit, our reservation was for 7 p.m. and the restaurant was not full, likely 50-60% occupied. On 9/27/25, we waited over an hour for our meals to be served after placing our order. There was no contact from our server during that time. On 11/1/25, again we waited over 60 minutes for our meals but our server did check with us during that period. One of the guests, due to dietary restrictions, orders mushrooms as a side, sauteed in oil, not butter, salmon and plain rice. Last night when her meal was served, it appeared that the mushrooms had been put on the plate, directly from a can, without any cooking. Not only were they cold, the same was true of the salmon and there was no rice served. When the guest pointed this out to the server, she removed the plate from the table and took it over to the hostess station which we could clearly see. The server then brought the guest a plate full of rice, also cold but didn't bring the rest of her meal until it was asked for. Two guests ordered the chicken diablo, one with very little spice and the other with no variation. The order with little spice had barely recognizable spice as did the order that didn't as for any variation. Once again, we waited over 60 minutes for our order to be served and the restaurant was only about 50% filled. We did ask to speak to the manager who did come to speak to us. She was somewhat apologetic but offered no explanation other than they are short staffed. I point blank told her that it was not only this evening but happened the last time we were there as well. I reiterated that this wasn't our issue and that as customers, we shouldn't have noticed any difference. She didn't recognize the issue as the restaurant's problem and was pretty non-committal. She did not offer her name and said that she would remove the dish from the bill that included the order with cold mushrooms. When our bills arrived, our bill also had 1 dish that wasn't charged. It is never our intent to try to achieve a free meal and have no problem paying for all of our meals. While this has always been a favorite place to dine is quickly becoming the last place we may consider in the future. It's obvious that the issue isn't the food or servers but that of management instead. As an additional note, while waiting to be seated for our reservation, there was a party of 10 with reservations, waiting because the hostess said their server was overwhelmed and asked if they would mind waiting a few minutes to be seated. This party was still waiting when we were being seated, 10 minutes after the time of our reservation. If the practices we have experienced the last 2 occasions continue, and management isn't corrected or replaced, there won't be a need for reservations at a once poplar restaurant. As for the number of stars I have given, there would be 1 more if the spice of the diablo had been consistent and 2 more would have been given had we not had to wait 10-15 minutes after the time of our reservation and had we not waited an hour for our meals, once the order was taken. read more

We made a later reservation for a date night. When we arrived, they had a table ready with menus and waters. The server was wonderful, our drinks and food came out so fast!! As far as what we got - I had the Figlio martini and my husband had the Manhattan. Coming from someone who worked several years in the restaurant industry, the drinks are the biggest area of improvement, especially at $10. 2/10 For dinner we shared the chicken piccanta and it was fabulous 9/10. Very good flavor! For desert we had the chocolate torte. It was pretty good, but the tiramisu (we got takeout for my mom) was better in my opinion. 7/10 on the torte. Most flavorful and delicious dinner we've had all year. Attention to the taste details and mix of seasonings delivers diverse richness in every spoon and forkful. Starter of focaccia bread, oil and seasoning is SO good we had to just stop and not overstuff! Shrimp and corn chowder next kept the tastebud dream going, to the point of asking for more bread to soak up the last drops! Worth it! But, leaving the starters in the dust, the walleye/ asparagus entree was a studied blend of complimentary flavors that satisfied regardless of the combination, and we tried to find a mediocre mix, but couldn't! I went on a Wednesday evening with girlfriends. We all ordered pizza. I had a Marguerite plus (LOVED it) , one friend had a Marguerite plus substituting chicken instead of avocado, one friend had the pear and Brie with the spinach arugula salad, and I honestly forget the last. But I can vouch for everything above. Everyone loved their food! I didn't catch our wonderful waitress's name, but my receipt says she's server 666! Apparently, we stayed a little past closing, not realizing they closed at 8. Still, our waitress was very kind to take a couple if group pictures for us. I highly recommend this to everyone! My family had to come into town for my father's funeral over Labor Day weekend. We needed a place for 20 plus people to have dinner on Friday night that wasn't at my parents house. I called multiple restaurants but no one would take a last minute reservation for less than 48 hours away. I spoke to Peter and he not only assured me that he could help us but we were able to get the private room as it wasn't booked. I preordered a menu of pastas pizzas salad and dessert. The food was delicious. Every one of my family members came up to me to let me know. The staff was great. We had a darling server, Leslie who took great care of us. It advertises itself as wood fired pizza but I consider it upscale Italian food...very fancy and dimly lit in areas. Went with a group recenty and had a seperate party room with a dedicated waitress who took excellent care of us. I opted for ravoli and it was life altering good. Sauce was light and tangy. Salads and bread excellent as well. Once I had the most delicious Chocolate mousse served in a stemware. Its a little high but so worth it. And in a group they put an automatic tip and didnt alert to that so I doubled tipped. My tip is always better than the auto applied one but I understand why they do that. My only other complaint is they dont open for lunch. That just makes me sad. read more

Stopped in for dinner with friends and The Better Half. I ordered the "Old School" Spaghetti and Meatballs. The quotes must mean its ironically "Old School". It comes with Angel Hair Pasta, not Spaghetti. So it would have been more accurate to call it "Angel Hair Pasta and Meatballs" and drop the "Old School" nonsense. That's not to say it was bad, it just wasn't what I wanted. As for the actual restaurant, as others have stated it's a small place. There was a weird "Swing out curtain" by our table that I'm not sure what we were supposed to do with. I guess if you don't like those you are dining with you can simply put this curtain in front of your face to avoid having to look at them? We moved it out of the way, but when another party arrived for the table behind ours, they were similarly stymied by the strange thing. Service was decent, but a bit slow. It was busy so I'm not all that surprised. The parking lot is tiny and wraps around the building so if the business of the time I was there is any indication its likely you'll have difficulty finding a good close spot. read more

This is not your average pizza place. This is white table clothes and white cloth napkins. Candles during dinner. A great place to take a first date. Not very expensive yet it was like fine dinning. Our favorite "upper" scale Italian restaurant. While our favorite remains Mama D's, for a quiet night out, Figlio's fits the bill better. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great. The have maintained the Peasant's Salad from the old Peasant Stock, the former restaurant in this location. The Chicken Picata is a perennial choice and the topper is a Chocolate Mousse to share. 5-6 is happy hour with mini martini's that are sized to keep one from overindulging before dinner. I suggest the Grapefruit vodka version which in other places might be a Salty Dog, in a smaller glass. Not cheap but not overly expensive. We visit often. read more
