I'm not Filipino but I married one so four years into our marriage I feel like there's three dishes I weigh my restaurant rating on: 1) lumpia (obvi) 2) tosilog (if they offer it bc it's my fav!) 3) lechon kawali Thankfully, this spot had all 3 so that's what we ordered! Pork lumpia was fresh and yummy. We both heartily approved. The tosilog: eggs were beautifully fried and runny and the garlic rice was generously portioned. The tocino itself? Very mediocre to both of us to where I likely won't order this dish again. We agreed we prefer when tocino has that light sweetness to it and this was just not it, fam. Lastly, the lechon kawali. HOLY FORKING SHIRTBALLS. The skin was well seasoned and fried to per-fec-tion. I told my husband this is the best damn lechon I've had in Seattle so far, maybe of all time. I mean it was CRUNCH CITY IN MY MOUTH, YALL. I'm still thinking about the crunch. The meat was juicy too. The onlyyyyyy bummer about this dish was it was ridiculously oily. Like I know this dish is gonna be oily but it was oil levels where both my husband and I are wondering why didn't they put the meat on some paper towels first or something to absorb at least a tiny bit of oil... anyways, next time I'll ask for extra napkins in advance and DIY the oil absorption. I was recommended this restaurant by a coworker. It's relatively close to my job which gave me the opportunity to drive by. I had the lechon kawali and the halo halo. My first experience trying Filipino food and I have to say I was amazed. The lechon can come off a little sticky to the teeth however from the skin. I do love how it's super crunchy and soft inside. The sauce they offer to go with the lechon goes perfectly together to balance the meal. The order comes with a big box of rice when ordering to go. It's definitely not a one person dish so eat with someone! The Halo halo.. was sooo good. The ube icecream goes so perfectly with the coconut cream. Came here for an early lunch on a Monday. Pretty empty as it was only 4ish. Ordered the bowl size of Lechon Kawali and Pork Sisig and ordered the regular Kare Kare. Also ordered the garlic rice on the side. The portions are HUGE!! The bowl size Sisig was huge. I can't imagine how big the regular or the family size is. The lechon kawali and sisig were so delicious with the garlic rice. The kare kare had a lighter flavor and the addition of bagoong really made it delicious. The kare kare was packed with meat and vegetables, which I really appreciate. I've had some kare kare where I'm just looking in the sauce wondering if there's any meat or veggies. Overall, a really good place to come if you're craving some filipino food!! Want to come back and with more people so we can try more dishes. After tossing out lunch ideas back and forth (3/25/19), I told The College Friend to pick a place by the time I get to her house. When I get there, she is grinning and tells me that she has the directions to Fil Cuisine (aka human GPS). Seriously two northenders heading to Kent for lunch?! Why not? Both of us have never visited during its 9 years of existence. I'll skip my commentary about regional traffic. In a nutshell, it's just totally lame. Pack one's patience and deploy defensive driving skills. Fil Cuisine is located in a non descript strip mall, but judging from the volume of people seated, a well sought out lunch location. We, too were seated, handed menus (liked the photos), and ice water (with a straw - no!). It didn't take us too long to decide what to order. I want it all...just kidding. The College Friend ordered the Kare Kare, oxtail and beef shank simmered in a peanut sauce with eggplant, long beans, and baby bok choy. This came with perfectly steamed rice and shrimp paste sauce ($17). I went with the Tortang Talong with ground pork ($8.50). This is like a tender butterflied Japanese eggplant, filled with meat, coated with egg and fried. Delicious, not greasy, and the flavors remind me of my Mom's version. And going totally off script, ordered the Tokwa'T Baboy ($13) which was a winner with crispy pork and tofu in a vineger soy concoction with green onion and chiles. Ask most Filipinxs, we feel local cuisine is best eaten by hand or with the requisite fork and spoon. All I can say is that the kitchen crew at Fil Cuisine nailed it. The flavors were spot on delicious! Eyes bigger than the stomach, lots of food boxed up to take home. The College Friend loved the Kare Kare so much, left no room for her intended Halo-Halo for dessert. Added an Ensymada (reminded me of the gazillion batches made back in Bremerton) and a Pan de Ube to go. The kind gentleman behind the counter patiently answered all our pastry case queries. Pan de Coco, Pan de Sal, Lecheplan...oh was I licking the glass case? Like I said, I want it all! Thanks College Friend, one of my culinary partners in crime, terrific idea and thanks for lunch. Probably have only had filipino food a few times, so take my review w a grain of salt. Chicken Lumpia 4/5 - solid, exactly what I've come to know and love as lumpia. Pork Adobo 3/5 ($15) - not quite as tangy/sour as I remember the taste profile being, but this one is more similar to a braised soy sauce pork. Kare Kare 2/5 ($18ish) - first time having something like this, but it didn't have the taste I expected. The peanut flavor was lighter than I expected and the oxtail wasn't as tender. I've been going to this restaurant for years, even before they expanded. Authentic Filipino food, so I'm always recommending it to others! I got Arroz Caldo, which is sometimes known as Congee. I got my order delivered from Ubereats and this portion is HUGE for just $8.50. Bless your souls Fil Cuisine! Thank you so much for the kind portion. This is yummy as always and included all the ingredients and even added lemon on the side! I also got Tap-Si-Log. Marinated beef with garlic rice and over medium eggs. You get to walk past the kitchen on one side where they have a little window and you can see them cooking. I've been to plenty of Filipino restaurants and cook myself this restaurant is the closest to what I'm familiar with. (Except for the adobo so far, but I can cook this at home). I always go for goods I can't make at home for certain reasons, or am to lazy to make like the lechon Kawali. The lechon Kawali is THE BEST THING. With an extremely crunch sin, and juicy soft meat, Im always tempted to order it instead of trying other things. I usually order food here too to bring home or pack for lunch the next day. Recently, I tried Coach's Chicken to bring for lunch, and that was the best grilled(?) Chicken EVER! It tastes like the chicken I used to get when I was younger at philippine restaurants. I can't seem to find much other decent Filipino food places aside from this restaurant. I might argue I've had a bit better at times, but this place is a staple in the Kent area. As long as there's no other place then I'll keep coming here for all the classics. The lechon kawali is always my favorite and comes with huge portions here. Then again it's hard to mess up deep fried pork belly. The pork BBQ skewers are pretty good here as well. The lumpia is just okay IMO, as I only order it when dining with others. I wasn't too big a fan of their halo halo, then again I'm always craving more savory dishes. I do like how they have mini random pastries or desserts to purchase to go as well. Since March of 2020 I haven't been to any weekend family parties for birthdays or special occasions. I miss the potluck table! Luckily the folks at Fil Cuisine have adopted me (unknowingly, lol) and all the rest of the south end residents who just need that home cooked spread that we've all been longing for. I recently came here for breakfast with some fam members. Lots of pick up orders at the counter and all the tables were filled with customers for dine in service. A majority of items are family style. Even breakfast items can be shared. I know there are a couple up and coming Filipino restaurants in Seattle that are super fancy and artistic (props to them!) but Fil Cuisine is just a good old down to Earth neighborhood restaurant. Man, we really had a terrible experience here. I hope they were just having an off day but it was simply terrible. We ordered the Lechon, rice, lumpia, and Pancit Canton. Lechon came out, it was cold. Like it had been sitting out at room temp for an extended time. Rice came out, it was lukewarm. But, we ate it. It was decent even when cold - but greasy pork when cold isn't super awesome. Lumpia was okay, nothing to get too excited about but it was enjoyable. After eating all this, we waited and waited and waited for the pancit. We reminded the server twice and the second time she stated "it's in the frying pan right now..." At least 45 minutes after we finished all the other food, we asked another staff member about the pancit. The original server came back and said they lost the ticket but it was coming out soon. (Guess it wasn't really in the frying pan after all...) We should have canceled it. It wasn't a great experience. The lemons that were placed in the pancit looked quite old, see pics below. Then, one of the staff in the kitchen tossed their coat onto the decorative shelf above the clean plates - I have zero doubt dust came down off that shelf and fake plants and landed on the plates. Came here on Wednesday at 2pm. Surprisingly no one was dining in when we arrived. As soon as we got in, we were asked to show our vaccination card and was immediately seated. Been here four other times and every single time, Fil Cuisine never disappoints. Today we had Pork Adobo ($15) & Lechon Kawali ($17), both regular size. They have a family size option for a couple bucks more. Also had Garlic Rice. Hands down, very yummy Filipino food, always good, you will not be disappointed. The Pork Adobo was very flavorful, pork was tender and soft. Lechon Kawali was also flavorful and the skin was very very crispy. Literally I have nothing bad to say about these two dishes. For a party of two, ordering these two dishes and rice, are more than enough. We left with our belly's happy and a smile on our face. Food came out super quick, like two minutes after placing the order. Definitely seems like the food was already pre made but the food came out at a good temperature and tasted delicious. Absolutely delicious comfort food. We initially came here on the recommendation of Monkey and I regret the fact that their location is so far. It's a 40-minute drive from home to here but some days we'll make our way just to come here. Everything is reasonably priced, and the portion is generous, it will be good for around 3-4 people per entree. I love their dipping sauces, they go well together with any dishes we've ever ordered here like Lechon Kawali or their roasted and fried eggplant omelette (Tortang Talong). For one person's plate, I've tried and loved the Coach's Chicken which is a slow-roasted then grilled chicken, served with their signature barbecue sauce and also came with a side salad. It was very filling. Kare Kare was quite good as well. We also liked their Sisig that came in a sizzling hot plate, topped with egg. It was flavorful, and the portion that can feed a village. Adobo Fried Rice also came in a huge portion, but I personally think the flavor was a little bland. On the contrary, Lechon Kawali (crispy fried pork) is our number one favorite dish. It's delicious and savory! Paired it with the vinegar or garlic soy dipping sauces, I'm in love! Halo Halo for dessert is on a sweeter side with all condensed milk in it but it's a must order. It is quite a drive, but definitely worth the trip to deep Kent. This place makes you feel like you are visiting family, because they are all very friendly and welcoming. We settled on the Pork Adobo Fried Rice and the wife ordered a Halo-halo, which she said wasn't that great (thus four stars). But, the Pork Adobo Fried Rice was da bomb! There's a regular sized order and a 'family' sized one. The regular plate was plenty big and enough to give us two meals, to include the traditional next morning Pork Adobo Fried Rice Omelette. Let me reiterate, the foam take out plate was stuffed to overflowing. So much food. We will definitely be back. Being from Hawaii, we really like Filipino food and I for one even like Dinuguan.
