I have been trying to find sushi I really like in the Ravenswood neighborhood and finally I came across Fin. Honestly, this place is way better than Tank, IMO, which is overpriced and not as friendly. Fin is warm and inviting with clean and fun interiors. They have all the classic types of rolls you would expected plus a whole backside of interesting and delicious specialty rolls-- I recommend the Snow Burn. This our favorite place for delivery sushi and general, everyday sushi. Friendly people, good classic rolls, super quick delivery and you can order online! I love the online ordering. I always get the spicy tuna roll and something else. My husband always gets the crazy noodles. The fusion aspect -- Thai and Japanese and whatever crazy noodles are -- might be the best part. I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem by my neighborhood. I went for the more purist choices such as simple white tuna roll and the Chicago roll. There are more americanized versions with mayo and cream cheese but regardless the product is very fresh and clean. Before I begin, I want to say, the best sushi is in California, or probably Japan, but I rated it 5 stars for CHICAGO SUSHI.. The HONEY WALNUT roll was incredible.(thanks to a YELPER for recommending it). They really are creative and artistic here with their rolls, and kudos to the waitress at lunch who charged me less, by making mine a combo so I got a free miso soup here. Seriously delicious sushi has been found in the northern area of the city!!! Fin is tucked away on Wilson, however, this unassuming restaurant has excellent service and excellent food! We tried the Duck Spring Roll which was tasty, but would want to try other apps now! We loved their specialty rolls: Red Spider, Crispy Spicy Scallop roll (it has bacon on it - everything is amazing with bacon!), and Spinach Roasted Duck Roll - my husband loved it however, I needed more seafood! Great little (and I mean little) place. How can I describe their rolls selection in one word? Eclectic. Very unique flavors, and yet they fall into place perfectly. Imagine the contrast of a mandarin orange against white rice, and a piece of fresh pink fish. I am always pleasantly surprised every time I come in to try something new. I had my birthday dinner here, and they accommodated my large party, as well as our copious amounts of wine and sake. The service was very attentive. BYOB is just the icing on this cake. We tried Fin because our usual Lincoln Square sushi joint has gone down significantly in quality over the past 6 months or so. The sushi at Fin was fine. Tasted fresh though the rolls were not rolled extremely tightly so the larger ones (too big to fit in one bite unfortunately) fell apart while eating them. Their pieces combination was just three types of fish and a cooked shrimp, so the variety was lacking compared to most other places we've been. Our major complaint was the service. We were seated immediately (we usually take a bar seat when we get sushi but were sat at a table without being asked what our preference was) and given menus and asked if we wanted to order drinks. We both asked for hot tea and waitstaff (there seemed to be only two people working and one of them also had to cover the cash register for takeout orders?) proceeded to leave us alone for a good fifteen minutes while we looked at the menu. (No tea in that time.) She came back to take our order (which included an appetizer and one of the meals had miso soup included), we put all of it in at the same time and went back to waiting. And waiting. Another twenty five minutes went by and the food started coming out, and all came out at once. All the sushi and the appetizer, and we had to remind them about the soup. It was, very odd. We kept a menu in case we wanted anything additional and as soon as we were finished our plates were cleared and the check dropped. No asking about anything else, no dessert question, no offer for more hot water for tea, just the check. So, still looking for a new perfect Lincoln Square'ish location. Otherwise we'll head to Andersonville or Raisu where the price point is higher but the quality, service, and recipes are top notch. read more

Fin has a beautiful patio and is BYOB; it is a lot of fun to enjoy some sushi, relax, and appreciate the atmosphere. I like all of the nigiri that Fin offers, as it is fresh and nicely prepared. Their tuna salad is also delicious. The rolls are fine for what you get, but very Americanized, if you would prefer less of a sushi taste and more of a "done-up" roll taste, the rolls are great; however, my preference is more of a simple roll that lets the flavor/quality of the fish shine. This is in the neighborhood and I will be back, but more selective in what I decide to order. read more

Walked by Fin on several occasions and always wanted to try, and tonight we finally got around to it. Ordered a few dishes for To Go ( chicken Pad Thai, chicken teriyaki, chicken fried rice, and bacon wontons). The bacon wontons were a last minute add on and Omg am I glad that we got them. So delicious, next time we will most definitely get two orders! Fried rice and Pad Thai were good, the chicken teriyaki was a little rubbery and cold and left something to be desired. The price for all these dishes was very reasonable and included a 10% discount for our first online order which was cool. Overall good first experience and we will most certainly be back hopefully to eat in on their cute patio. read more

Because I live in the area, I was elated to see a sushi place opening up; finally, something that may actually last! The menu is definitely unique, but lacked a few of the staple dishes you expect to see at a sushi joint, my favorite rolls were also not on the menu, but they do offer to make requests, which is nice. Unfortunately, the prices are much higher than surrounding sushi shops, and may end up being too pricey for the type of neighborhood. Weekend nights the place has plenty of traffic, but I can see that it's pretty dead the rest of the week. This is definitely more of a dinner place, I don't think it's affordable enough to be good for a quick take out or delivery. But, more importantly, are the prices worth it? I definitely thought my shrimp pad thai was worth the $9, and the Thai iced coffee was just wonderful. The egg roll was probably the best egg roll I've ever had, honestly. They have done a lot with the place as far as decor goes, it has a lot of charm now. It's awesome that this place is putting out great food as soon as they opened, and bringing some more people to this side of Ravenswood. Now, all they need are some specials on the menu! read more

We've been to their patio once since covid and felt safe with the precautions they had in place (distance btwn tables and servers wearing masks). This has been a staple sushi place for my family and I. They've been very prompt for delivery (sometimes early) and the sushi is pretty good quality for being so affordable. They tend to be pretty generous on the fish in the maki rolls. Also - the bacon fried rice - it's a pretty amazing side dish they offer. We were blown away by just the name of it and had to try it out - it was a great decision, so if you're looking to top off those rolls with something, definitely order a side of the bacon fried rice! I haven't had a bad experience with this place yet and will continue ordering from them. read more

I get sushi from Fin all the time since they're in my neighborhood. It's always very fresh and delicious. I tend to stick to the more basic rolls as their specialty ones don't interest me that much - but that's a personal preference. It helps to keep the cost down as Fin is a little pricey. DELIVERY REVIEW I dig. My order of a spicy tuna roll and a California roll were admittedly pretty basic, but who cares? If a sushi joint can do the basics well, it's a good sign. Plus, we all know that when you start getting crazy with dragon rolls and the like, there's a high probability of added mayo, cream cheese, fried things and tempura crumbles. No bueno for the dieters in the house. I was VERY pleased that the spicy tuna roll actually appeared to be incredibly light on the spicy mayo. Love that. Not the hottest spicy roll around, but hey, it got the job done. The California roll was very standard. Most of all, though, i appreciated the bite-sized pieces of sushi from Fin. It sounds weird, but I prefer a roll that's smaller in diameter so I don't have to battle with trying to take down pieces in 2 or more bites. It ruins everything for me and is messy and, well, you know, just not fun to eat. So big ups to Fin for making their rolls bite-sized. Fair prices. Moderately quick delivery. My wife and I frequent their lunch menu in the weekends. It's such a deal. Two rolls for $9.95! Their maki is standard and made well. If you order one of their specialty rolls, I'd suggest the yellow dragon special roll! My wife loves ordering their pad see ew with chicken. You must order their Thai iced coffee. It's really good! They are byob! And if you live nearby you can drop off your white wine and they will chill it for you for your dinner. The restaurant has a great outdoor patio in the summer. read more

I was so excited to try this new restaurant based on the reviews. I was not impressed at all. We were immediately taken to a table near the back of the restaurant, even though the restaurant was half empty. Not only was the table under a big light (my friend said it felt like we were eating inside a very bright McDonald's), but it was also right next to the bathroom. Yuck! One star because we were immediately given an ice bucket for the bottle of wine we brought, but that was the last time we saw our server for awhile. In fact, a family of 4 that came in after us was already eating their appetizers and soup before she even came by to take our order. We started by ordering some appetizers (veggie tempura was delicious, but seaweed salad had more cucumbers than seaweed). After our apps came out we waited forever to place an order for some rolls and sashimi. Once we finally ordered, it took so long for the food to come out I was convinced that they forgot to make it. I will give another star for the quality of the sashimi, but the rolls were really not good at all. First of all, the spicy tuna was so big it took 3 bites to eat one piece and every bite of the other roll fell apart. I felt like I was eating deconstructed sushi. I eat sushi alot and really wanted to like this new business. But, the bottom line is that nothing (food, service, decor, etc.) impressed me at all. Bad service, good, basic sushi. I used to go here several times per month, spending at least $100 each visit, but the last 2 times the servers were just downright rude to us. We came in just before 5 pm and the staff was all eating together so we offered to come back after 5. They said to stay but then proceeded to ignore us until 5:15 and then gave us a really hard time about our choice of seating. We wanted the inner booth because the tables near the windows were so cold. We were the only people in the restaurant so I couldn't see the problem. We had to leave at 6 for our child's appt. at Mathnasium next door but they were so slow just taking our payment that I had to stay behind to wait even longer....though there were still no other patrons in the place. I like the space...especially their outside seating, and hope to still be a customer, but not until they improve their attitudes.
