I eat here a lot, like A LOT, I am sure I am putting someone through college. I am never disappointed. The rolls are amazing, even their normal makis are still great, but their specialty rolls are really worth giving a try. I have had their vegan fried rice and their tofu teriyaki aside from the rolls and again so tasty. You should definitely give them a shot and dine in or if you're like me and like to order yourself a bunch of food and stuff your face at home so you can be sad that they gave you enough chopsticks for at least 3 people it is also a good option. also everyday, including weekends, they have lunch specials for both their sushi and thai food that honestly can't be beat anywhere else. read more

I was super disappointed especially since there were so many good reviews. I ordered for delivery and they were relatively prompt. However, two of the containers had holes in the corners that looked like they were chewed by rats. Im not sure how else the holes would have gotten there. Since i didn't know for sure though, I functioned under the assumption that the holes were from something else. The tempura was fine, nothing special. I ordered a rainbow roll, a spicy shrimp and a piece of the taco nigiri. The spicy shrimp was so drenched in spicy mayo that it was soggy and inedible. All of the fish for both the rainbow roll and octopus tasted as if it had previously been frozen. It was abnormally rubbery and chewy and had almost no flavor. Stop trying to take my menu, I'm going to keep ordering MORE! This place has quickly moved to the top of my fav sushi places...the sashimi is top quality and so delicious! My palate gravitates mostly to the various tuna pieces but have found even the salmon and octopus very agreeable which is saying a lot (for me). The super white tuna is probably the best I've ever had. The specialty rolls are great and it is nice to have the entree option and fried rice sides. The standard miso soup and ginger dressing salads are perfectly done. I have been here several times and the food has always been good. Not last night, however.... Ordered two rolls, some tune sashimi and a crazy noodles to share and it was, simply put, gross. The noodles were oily and flavorless. The fish was not fresh. The rolls tasted like ...nothing. Rice with sauce. Both my husband and I were sick all night, which never happens. I have ordered delivery from Fin a couple of times, and was very impressed with the quality of the food and the very speedy delivery. Then I finally visited the restaurant with family and we really enjoyed the experience--attentive staff, intimate setting, same great food beautifully presented. My personal favorite is the mango maguro roll--it's almost too pretty to eat, and it's delicious! Seriously, it's beautiful and so tasty. The menu also has plenty of variety to accommodate vegetarians (or in my aunt's case, people who have never had sushi and are unsure about the raw fish). We loved the sweet potato tempura roll and the brown rice vegetable roll. The pad thai and bacon fried rice were also very good (although not the best I've had). My husband orders here at least once a week for delivery. They are consistent and solid. It's not the most amazing sushi I've had, but I'm somewhat easy because I can only eat shell fish and not fin fish so my choices are limited. However the Ama Ebi, Tamago and various vegetable rolls don't disappoint. read more

The most beautiful sidewalk cafe in all of Chicago. I mean it's in Ravenswood so there's that perfect blend of urban feel with people walking by mixed with plants everywhere and a more relaxed overall vibe. There's also a giant tree right there IN the patio, with lanterns hanging from it. Beautiful! Service is also great. Our server was very friendly. Honestly I would give it 5 stars at this point even if the food weren't stellar, but behold...the sushi is great too! I don't remember what I ordered TBH but it had oranges on it and was delicious. My first experience here was great. I was very happy with the service and the food. However, I took my mom to eat here yesterday and left very disappointed. Our sushi took about a half an hour to come out and it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered; way too much mayo. I would rate the sushi a 3.5 last night and a 4 or even a 4.5 during my first experience. The service really brings the rating way down for me though. They were not apologetic at all about the wait and the restaurant wasn't even full at the time. Also, at the end of the meal, I went to use the restroom and there was a very foul odor from the kitchen which was another negative to a mediocre experience. I may try this restaurant again, as it's in my neighborhood and I really want to like it, but its definitely off my list of favorites for now. I'll update at this review at that time. read more

I have been to FIn quite a few times now seeing as how it's one of the few restaurants in the area. Quiet, warm and clean, Fin is a neighborhood gem. The staff is friendly, and always greets you warmly when you walk in. The decor is ultra modern, and I love the patio outside. Almost all of the food I've had here has been fantastic. The lunch specials are a little pricey, but you get a great amount of food. 2 sushi rolls and miso for $9.95, 3 and miso for $13 I believe, a teriyaki bento box with choice of meat (chicken, steak, salmon and one other) with mixed tempura, miso and a salad is anywhere from $11-$14, or fried rice/pad thai that comes with miso, a california roll and a salad for around $11 as well. The only downsides? The Pad Thai was awful, some of the worst I've ever had, which is not indicative of any of the rest of the food. Also, the staff can be a bit slow at times, especially if you sit outside. Aside from that, Fin is a gem. I definitely want to come back and sample more of their exotic rolls, which all look delectable! read more

What an amazing experience! My fiancé and I just moved to the area and wanted to celebrate the move. We bought a nice bottle of wine and found a close sushi restaurant. We got to the restaurant and after reading the menu were put down as we couldn't find many gluten free specialty rolls. So we took a chance and asked the waitress if the chef could prepare a few rolls of his choice with a couple restrictions. The chef gladly accepted the task and created some incredible rolls for us. This was one of the most kid friendly places we've been to. Upon seeing our toddler they brought a highchair and a cup with a lid and a straw. The food was great, they had a good variety of miscellaneous Asian dishes, and they're BYOB. It's good to see a place in that location that has the potential of surviving. I liked the open feeling of the room with 2 sides of the restaurant being mostly windows. On a sunny day, this was very pleasant. You can watch the cars roll through the stop signs and make a game of the one car that might actually stop at the intersection. Aside from that, the rolls we had were unremarkable. We each had a 2 roll bento box with 4 different rolls which we shared. Mushy rice and a whole lot of cucumber in the rolls. We ordered a rainbow roll as well. Again, nothing special. The sushi was on par with what you could get at Jewel. Even simple rolls are quite tasty when done right. I wish Fin could step up it a bit. I like the space and the neighborhood it's in. Passed by and was curious to try since it looked so cute outside and is very close to my home... We ordered some sushi and a couple of appetizers. The shiitake egg roll was really good but the cucumber salad was ok, lacked flavor. The sushi was bad, I could tell the fish wasn't fresh and had been previously frozen, the salmon was chewy in texture and had a refrigerator taste. We ordered a salmon skin roll and even that had quite a fishy taste which shouldn't as it is crispy cooked skin. The rolls were huge and had too much rice, nothing like traditional sushi rolls. Wouldn't come back here for sushi, but the cooked dishes like noodles and egg rolls are probably better here. read more

My husband and I came here for lunch last Saturday. They have an awesome lunch special. There are many different combos, but we got 3 rolls with miso soup for approx. $13. We also got duck spring rolls, and I always order 2 ikura. The rolls and the duck spring rolls were good, but there was an insanely hot jalapeno that burned my mouth (and I love spicy food). I couldn't eat anything for 10 minutes, but that's not necessarily the restaurants fault. All in all, very filling and good read more

This is our neighborhood sushi bar. Its nestled on a cute corner in Ravenswood (and walking distance from our apartment). The staff there is polite, the food is fresh, everyone there seems happy to either be working or dining, and the prices are reasonable.
