Went to the new location for a Monday night meal. Diva and Erin were fabulous hostesses, texting us when our table was ready in like half the promised time. For dinner- the collard green melt was the BOMB! In our experience, food in bar harbor kinda sucks. It's overpriced, everything is like a tourist trap. This sandwich though absolutely smashed it with flavor and blew our expectations! Juice literally dropped onto the plate with every bite. Adding more flavor to the already well seasoned fries. We asked for a side of tartar sauce which was an even better surprise when it had chunks of pickles from being homemade. The garden salad had goat cheese and apple slices, adding a few grilled shrimp made it the light but still filling dish I needed. Our server Dave was a riot! Attentive and entertaining. We ate at the restaurant Friday, and the oysters were very good. We went back to the restaurant on Saturday after seeing a sign posted outside that said "Happy Hour 3-5 Saturday." We arrived at 4:53 and went to the bar to order drinks. The woman behind the bar asked if she could help us. I replied that we were hoping that our group of 8 could order the first round of drinks during happy hour, and that were were planning on staying for dinner too. She turned to the man behind the bar with her, and he said that happy hour was over. I nicely said that it wasn't five o'clock yet and showed him my phone said 4:55. He sternly said, "it's over". At that point, I realized that there was nothing happy about the customer service there so our group left. I followed up our visit with an email to the owner, which has not been returned. The grumpy attitude from the bartender was a real turnoff, and even if everyday, all day, is happy hour, it isn't worth being treated poorly. We went up the street to a wonderful little eclectic restaurant. The food was excellent and so was the service. There are so many great places to go in Bar Harbor. read more

The Lobster Bake included a lot of food... clam chowder, lobster, steamers, mussels, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and even dessert! For the price, it was a great deal. 5 star food. 1 star service. This was one of the oddest experiences I've ever had. The food really couldn't have been better, and the service couldn't really have been worse. I had the lobster stew which was delicious. Loved the flavor and lobster. I also had the lobster roll. It was really good. I wasn't a huge fan of the roll, but it was a good amount of wonderful lobster. The service on the other hand holy cow. It took over 20 mins for the waitress to make her first appearance at the table. This is after the hostess came over twice perplexed that a server had not been to our table. To add insult to injury a server comes over to a couple who just sat down and brings them water almost immediately after we had been sitting for 20 minutes! Finally our waitress came over reeking of weed and baked out of her mind. Her attentiveness was somewhere between a rock, and a half smoked blunt. Perplexed a restaurant with near perfect location, and great food can lack the attention to detail to employ staff completely uninterested in doing their job. One horrible employee like this completely sours what would otherwise have been a 5 star experience. Popped in this spot for dinner after spending the afternoon at Acadia National Park. They were on a small wait, but were able to call us so we could walk around town for a bit. Service here was excellent...from both the hostess and waitress. We had a party of five and got to sit at the table in the back. If you sit up front on a nice day, they have the entire front opened up to the street which is really nice. Everyone in our party said their food was excellent. The lobster dishes were not too overpriced, seemed just what it would cost in a touristy town. I'm not a seafood person so I had the California Club and it was real thick pieces of turkey...not just lunch meat. They also made me a blueberry lemonade mocktail since I wasn't drinking. read more

Not my favorite. The salad I ordered was filled with a bag of lettuce and a few toppings. I should've went to the supermarket and grab a salad mix. It would have been better. I had just finished my first marathon that day (woo-hoo!) and this was in the cards for the cheat meal to follow. This Kansas kid had also put off seafood a few days out from the race so as not to upset anything, and now that it was over, it was time to feast. We started with two thick, rich crab cakes that were shared around the table. The mac & cheese was creamy (plus had bacon!), but the amount of lobster in it was impressive. It ran around $28-30 but they had whole claws of lobster in it, making it worth it. The upscale pub-vibe and diverse menu were welcome as we all had different appetites that day, and overall we were very pleasantly surprised by how good this was. My daughter had the spicy cavatappi which she said was good, but not at all spicy. I also felt the service was lacking here, was never asked if our food was okay and then when I paid the bill o got the bill back and had to go find the waitress to get my credit card back. Very disappointed at the quality of food and service we received tonight especially after reading so many good reviews on Yelp. My friend and I decided to ask about the lobster bake since it comes with a either clam chowder or lobster bisque, a combination of seafood we love - lobster, mussels and clams - with a choice of cob corn or fries, coleslaw and blueberry or apple pie. We thought the market price was reasonable and decided to order it. The server then just left without asking us about our choices. After 5 minutes he finally came and asked about our choice. Lobster bisque was awesome - well -seasoned and generous about the lobster bits for a cup of soup. When the bake came, that's when things started to go wrong. First, we were confused. We didn't get any plates but only waste bowls for the shells, and it wasn't until 10 minutes later that we were given plates. Second, the fist mussel I had was cooked but lukewarm at best, and that was weird because the cob of corn was warm. And all the shellfish was like that. Then the steamer clams were not fresh catch and we could tell by there was so much liquid when we opened up and the meat was squishy. Third, as mentioned by other reviewers, the lobster was over cooked. They were dry and not tender at all. Lastly, the blueberry pie. The server took a while to bring the pie and didn't clean out table beforehand!! She tried to took away a few plates but there was still dirty plates on our table when she set down the pie and didn't bother to come back to clean them up!!! I was shocked by such service. The blueberry pie was just meh, not too sweet and the crust was soggy!! Horrible! The cream that was with the pie was not freshly beaten and made from eggs in house. We were disappointed because there was not thought put into the desert. A restaurant with this price range should serve a desert that can wow their diners. Instead we had to go down the streets to an ice-cream parlor to attempt to redeem the night. I would not go back to this place at all.
