I am very close to Fino's and have eaten there many times. Food is always very good and service is businesslike and efficient. I'd hate to live upstairs from them, I'd be hungry all the time. A word of caution, however...their delicious sandwiches by default come on hard chewy Italian bread & if you're not used to that or it isn't your thing it can be a surprise. So you have to specifically ask for soft bread. Also you get a nifty plastic cup if you order a to go drink. These are good to have around the house in addition to the real glass glasses...everyone needs a few plastic cups. I am giving three stars because I am hoping they are just working out the kinks. I'll probably try again in a month or so to see if anything improves. I'll try to be brief. Service: not good at all. The young lady at the register was sweet and actually checked on my pizza after I had been waiting an excruciatingly long time and asked her to. There were two other people in the front who didn't seem to have a clue about customer service. They did not look at anyone; they didn't speak to anyone but each other, and they never smiled, but instead looked unfriendly. Food: Very disappointing. I used to love Fino's pizza. Not anymore. The crust is waaaaay too thick and the pizza has virtually no flavor. My sister had salad dressing that was just olive oil with tomatoes and onions floating in it. It was explained to us that it was deliberate because some people hate vinegar. What? They brought her a cruet of vinegar, but it took a long time to get it. I really hope it improves a lot, because I love Iris and Second Line and I used to love Fino's, and thought Kelly English taking over Fino's would be a wonderful thing, but it seems it is not a match made in Heaven. read more

Can't believe there are no reviews for this place. It's literally been in this same location for decades. It used to have aisles full of italian items, including all kinds of pasta, olives, oils etc. All those items have been removed to make room for additional seating, that from the lack of business, wasn't necessary after all. The place had 4 customers besides myself at noon. Speaking of oils... I purchased a key lime tort slice for dessert and the oil used in the crust is RANCID! The flavor was off putting and I don't understand how the person that made it didn't notice and start OVER! It's disgusting at best. Also bought 2 phyllo pockets, one w/spinach, artichoke & cheese, but found no artichoke in it. The 2nd one was spinach & Gorgonzola. The bottoms were burnt on both and the gorgonzola was tough and had no real flavor. Obviously had been in the hot box too long. Also there was black olives that were chewy and dried out in the cheese one, but was not told they were in there when I ordered them. Sad to think I have bought from Fino's for many years but will have to think ling and hard about going back. read more

I've worked in some form of customer service for most of my adult life, and I've never felt compelled to complain about a restaurants ridiculousness until now. #Finos (in midtown), seriously, how do you have business? I get my hair done at Fixations around the corner and thought I'd get a sandwich before my appointment, which was 10 minutes after you were opened. The door was locked. No big. It happens. I smiled through the window trying to make eye contact with some of the guys making food for what looked like a catering order. They ignored me at first. I was kind of embarrassed thinking maybe I got the time wrong. Nope. Door says 10AM. Eventually, angry tattoo man who is visibly frustrated comes and fights with the door trying to unlock it. He unlocks it and immediately walks back to the prep area. I almost laughed because I was like seriously dude, I'm trying to come in and buy stuff and you didn't even open the door for me? Or say "whoops sorry about that." Nothing. I walk in. No one says anything. Two dudes in the prep area are busy, angry tattoo dude #2 says "fuck I think we made too many turkey sandwiches." Then starts insulting the person who ordered for some reason? I decide to try and make their situation better saying: "I'll buy one of the extras if you'd like!" Crickets. Finally like 5 minutes later angry tattoo man #1 grumbles out a "she can take your order" and points to the opposite side of the counter. Deirdre, who took my order, was SUPER nice, with an almost apologetic tone in her voice, like she knew what jackwagons these angry men are. If you suck at interacting with people/customers, maybe work in a place with a kitchen where there's privacy and customers won't hear you talking shit about other customers. Just adding to what others have said, this is a great place to go for quality Italian deli sandwiches. The bread they use on the sandwiches, the dressings, the meat, the cheese, all seem to be of high quality. I ordered a "panini", which contained coppa - a cured delicious meat (capicola), olive oil, tomato, and cheese, which was very good. If you don't like chewy-crusted bread, order the "soft bread". Parking was easy - the grocery is a storefront in an apartment complex with parking for customers. I was interested to see what items they sold in their freezer case. It is the only grocery I've seen in town that sells frozen gnocchi. They also had frozen pizzas that are apparently made on site. I got a mushroom pizza and took it home. I enjoyed the crust, toppings, and the cheese, although I wished the pizza had more sauce. On the small pizza, they used squares instead of shredded cheese, but it all melted nicely. The staff was efficient and helpful. It's nice to have a high quality Italian deli available in Memphis. read more

This Italian delicatessen also known as "Fino's from the Hill" serves excellent subs. I ordered a roast beef sub thinking I was going to get what I know as a "sub" and was pleasantly surprised when I got a massive open face sandwich. Two large crusty slices of French bread covered with provolone cheese and topped with juicy roast beef. Come with a big appetite or be ready to take some home. In addition to excellent subs, there is a small grocery store with a variety of Italian products. Definitely one of the best sandwiches I've eaten in a long time, I plan on returning soon to try some of their other subs. read more

A local favorite with roots in St. Louis. We usually go for the veggie sandwich, very enjoyably, plenty of olives to make up for the lack of meat. Fino's does a fresh soup and 2 pasta dishes every day. They are to die for. They also have subs, in which my favorite is the Aquisto. The pizzas are to awsome as well. A friend introduced me to Fino's about a year ago, and I sure wish I had discovered it sooner! The sandwiches are phenomenal. I usually get a whole turkey sandwich and end up taking half home. Only $7! If you can tough it out, stick with the hard bread, it tastes better. However, you can also request soft bread which is a nice alternative. read more

It is insane how good this place is. I've gone here for years, and it's consistently good. The bread is hard, but that's what makes it so good. Their homemade dressing is also great. It's near impossible to find a place to sit down during the lunch hour, and the line can be long. Think about calling ahead and you can just walk to the counter and pay. Saves a ton of time. One of my favorite places to get a sandwich in the world! Whenever I come back to Memphis, TN Fino's is one of my first and favorite spots. I love the Veggie Sub and the Pasta Salad. The trick to the sandwich is to squeeze the bread down, so that you can fit a bite of everything into your mouth, also to keep napkins handy because the veggies are wonderfully marinated. The bread is super crusty and chewy, and if you know anyone in Mid-Town Memphis, TN you will no doubt run into them at Fino's it is a local favorite for sure! read more

Recently moved back to Memphis, and was relieved this place has the same excellent quality food and service. A favorite lunch spot.

To start off the service was incredible, the owner took our order and was more than helpful. Starting off we tried a side salad which was very good. Their tomato onion dressing is heavenly. My mom and I split a whole meatball sub and it was incredible. The meatballs were true italian meatballs not some frozen things. The marinara sauce was very good too I liked that it still had chunks of real tomato in it. I am not sure how anyone could ever eat a whole alone, we both had leftovers. My brother ordered the Penn Station it was also very good. The people beside us ordered pizza, I look forward to going back and trying it sometime. read more

So, here I am stuck in Bartlett with no real quality choices for a killer sandwich and fresh sliced cold cuts. Fino's finally opened up a place on Brookhaven Circle which is still worth the drive, yet not always opportunistic to meet friends and family. So, it becomes a 16 mile, 45 minute or so round trip to get a sandwich. I love the quality of the meats, cheeses and locally baked (La Baguette, not in house) breads. They enjoy a special relationship with the leading producer of dry cured meats in the country. I know this because I was a purchasing execexutive 20 years ago and Volpi Meats in St Louis (family owned since 1902) was our supplier of choice and this family owned business has continued to thrive by producing the best quality meats. If you want consistent, masterpiece sandwiches, take the detour and go to Fino's. And oh yeah, don't get me started on the rest of the menu. Love me some Fino's. Fino's, Fino's... Fino's. My girlfriend ate 3 meals from Fino's in 2 days. They have sandwiches big enough to fill me and tasty enough to make me want to eat them all. Listen, I want to try the pizza, but I haven't and still this place has gotten 5 stars from me. Why? I'll tell you, but I won't need to if you'd just eat a sandwich from Fino's. I have had hot and cold, so here is my first recommendation: italian roast beef. Open faced, warm, and delicious. Fino's is also the only place I can find Orangina in this city. I love Orangina. I would go there for an orangina alone, but end up also buying a sandwich! Man, I have got to try their pizza... where was I? Sandwiches! New York Club! It is fantastic. Order either of those sandwiches and you won't be disappointed. Or you could help me out and buy a pizza and let me know how it is. I've had the pasta and it is very good.
