We tried Fin's tonight for the first time. The ambiance is nice. It's clean and decorated well and we loved sitting upstairs by the windows. Our server was nice and did a good job of checking on us as she could. It got slammed mid way thru our dinner due to the Tree Lighting. Hubby got the chicken pot pie. It didn't look appealing and I tasted it and it really tasted to me like chicken and dumplings and wasn't all that great. Just eh. My daughter got chicken tenders, they were good. She wasn't a fan of the fries. I had the Pasta Carlo and it was bad... the noodles tasted almost like they were burnt. It was odd. The tomatoes were out of a can, the spinach was fine, but there was also too much oil. Not enough flavor. I doused it with salt and pepper and it honestly didn't help much. Disappointing. Also, We had the calamari for an app and that was delish! We loved the fried banana peppers and that it was served with marinara and cocktail sauce. Happy hour runs all day and night on Mondays. Brought a party of 14 in on Friday, July 23. I am a frequent flyer at this establishment as were 4 others that attended. There were many parties larger than 6 at that time. The owner came to our table twice, the hostess twice to tell us we were going to have to leave if we didn't keep it down. They had tv's on, other people having conversation and NOBODY at our table was talking louder than anyone else. It was RUDE to be told that and embarrassing to those of us from the are that invited others to join us. Then, I'm served my salad wedge, I kept attempting to cut and was not able to. Pick up part of my lettuce to find a thick layer of paper towels. Really. Sometimes an "I'm sorry" isn't enough. I'm originally from New Baltimore. Was in the area and saw the old drug store was now a restaurant, so I checked it out. Every thing was great, the service, the food, the atmosphere, reasonable prices and comfortable, inside and outside.The owner Bob, asked if I liked sea food, and asked if I would like to try his clams and oysters. He was very nice and welcoming, someone obviously with a lot of experience in the restaurant business. Of course, He gave me samples and they were wonderful, the best I've ever had.A great place you wont be disappointed. Stopped here after the art fair to grab a bite to eat. We had 5 people and a dog. We stopped at the hostess stand to see if dogs were allowed on the patio. The hostess had no idea and went to track down multiple people to see if we could sit with our dog. We are still unsure if dogs were allowed because she wouldn't say yes or no, just that they were "unable to accommodate our party." We asked again, are dogs allowed? Her response "this just isn't going to work out." I felt like I was getting dumped. I will never go back even without our pup. read more

Sorry all you other reviewers... We LIKED the place! We live in New Baltimore and have been waiting and waiting for Fin's to open. For over a year they have been remodeling the old Pharmacy building, and what a renovation it was! Don't know why people were confused about what kind of restaurant it was since the sign said "Italian" in the window for over a year. Loved the décor. The original hardwood floors (looked like it anyway) and the exposed brick with the car references made for a nice atmosphere. We arrived at 6pm on Friday night and grabbed the last table in the place (was on the main floor). The place was already packed. Forgot to ask if they take reservations, but come early if you don't want to wait. The waitress said they've been like this since they opened about a month ago. Otherwise, expect to wait. Now for the food..... I would have given it all 5 stars if the bread was better. I agree with one reviewer that the bread needs to be updated to homemade, or rolls or something other than regular basic bread. But... the minestrone soup was very tasty. Had a thicker tomato base and lots of veggies. It was Friday night and we both had the perch special. 5 or so (can't remember) nice pieces of sautéed perch on top of carrots and broccoli that were done perfectly (not mushy), hand cut and better vegetables than I've had in any place I can think of lately. Baked potato was hot and just rightly done and the perch was breaded and tasty. I can (and did to the lady at the next table who asked) recommend the perch. With my strawberry daiquiri and minestrone soup I was totally stuffed halfway through the perch. I stuffed the perch in and ate some veggies. My husband ate all his veggies (he's such a good boy!) and was too full and left one of his perch. We were too uncomfortably stuffed to try one of the desserts so I can't comment on those. All in all, I approve of the new eatery in New Baltimore... I know, you were just waiting for my approval before you tried it... First visit was right after Fin's opened in March 2014. View of water from upstairs window was nice, decor is pleasant, but food just okay. Believe in supporting local businesses and decided to try again last week July 2014. Ordered 1 grilled chicken sandwich and 1 salmon burger, and a carry out. Waitress said she'd put in the carry out when our meals came. After 30 minutes, we flagged waitress down and said "If sandwiches take this long to get, you had better put that carry out order in now." No explanation or apology on the slow service, though the place was only half full. Very loud atmosphere with a group at the bar amping up the noise. One particular woman's piercing laugh grated on the nerves as we sat and waited and waited for our food. After 40 mins the sandwiches appeared at last - stone cold and bread very dry. Waitress did not check back on our table once in the entire time we were there. We are very generous tippers, having children who have worked in the food service industry, but could not reward this lack of customer regard. Very disappointed and will not be going back. read more

Ate here on a Sunday evening @5:00 pm, wife, daughter and I. I ordered French Dip, Daughter ordered Mac N Cheese, wife ordered a burger, medium well. My wife and daughters food came, mine didn't. After they were halfway done with their meal the waitress came back and told me my meal was given to another table and they were remaking mine. Offered a free salad. I declined. 15 minutes later my food came after my wife and daughter had finished eating. My wife's burger, ordered medium well came charred and dry as a bone inside. My daughter loved her food. The aus ju that came with my french dip was so salty I couldn't eat it. Then, after drinking 1/3 of my soft drink I noticed the inside rim of the glass was coated in film and food particles from either a poor wash job or never being washed. I was so grossed out I couldn't finish eating. The waitress was apologetic but never offered to do anything about our bad experience and never called a manager over. I left them a message on their web site saying all of the above. Hopefully I will get a positive response from them or we will never go back to Fins. read more

First time visit for me .... other than the delicious perch I had, nothing about this restaurant really stands out. We chose to sit upstairs, pretty plain, not much in the way of decorations, but had a window view. Server was prompt, bringing our drinks quickly, took our order. Soups arrive, clam chowder was pretty thin and lacked much of anything other than one huge potato chunk. We both chose the perch dinner w baked potatoes, when it arrives there is no butter or sour cream for the baked potatoes. We don't see our server so we hijack another one walking by to find our server. 7 min later she finally comes to find out what we need. Perch is looking delicious but getting cold . Few min later she drops off both. For 20.99 I would expect at least a vegetable as a side accompaniment or some fresh bread or rolls but neither is served. Other than the perch being delicious, it was a disappointing visit. Next time in New Baltimore we definitely will be trying something different. read more

I was there with a friend for opening night on Saturday, we sat at the main bar on the first floor...just wanted to take in the atmosphere and people watch. Place was packed, with a line at the door. We knew with any new restaurant that we would have a wait on the food, so we weren't disappointed. First time here, really wanted to like the place but couldn't get service. We were seated for a long while watching servers hustle back and forth. Eventually one came up and apologized and got our drink order. Long wait for drink in which three other tables were seated and waited upon, finally got drink and was told they'd be right back for our order, went and took an order from the fourth table seated after us and never came back. Total 28 minutes with no one taking food order we finally nabbed another waitress to give her cash for our drink just so we could leave. Pretty disappointed. read more

Okay, I must admit after reading the article in the Bay Voice claiming the experience the owners had in restaurant business, I truly expected more. As a business owner myself I understand the pressures and would of expected them to have their game on. Over staffing is better than no staff. The marinara was deplorable and needed some more pizazz ,plus only two slices of bread with all that sauce, really? We never even received a bread basket others did. I'd swap it out for a caprese salad with fresh basil or calamari appetizer .The Salmon Crostinti... cream cheese thingy was just that, and needed a dill & garlic blend to it, the salmon was fishy. Try a dill caper sauce. Shrimp Scampi was bland. We received our soup after our entree was served AND it was delivered to wrong table. The Lasagna was quite good though. Service was slow and again had they had any idea how much the neighborhood was anticipating their opening, should of had more staff on hand.... Bartenders and wait staff. The poor table next to us was never acknowledged until we kept telling our waitress to help them and even then she went on to the next table who by this time was on there second bottle of wine we had our second refills of cocktails and still they had nothing. We look forward to returning under better circumstances. You have great location with a lot of history and character and have really pulled this together. But without properly trained Chefs, bar and wait staff you are looking at a very grim future, sad to say. read more

My husband and I were hungry this past Valentine's Day and we've never been to Fin's before. Decided to try it. Unfortunately we never experienced the food because we ended up leaving, which I will explain. The 1 star is because I have to, but also because the hostess was nice and greeted us promptly. We walked in, were greeted and seated. There were only a few other people in the restaurant. Our waitress came over, introduced herself, and took our drink orders. Came back with our drinks. She asked us if we wanted an appetizer and if we were ready to order. I said that we still needed a few minutes. We waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. After a few minutes we had both put our menus down. My back was facing the kitchen area, but my husband said she kept coming out, making eye contact with him, but never coming back over to check on us. Could hear her back there talking and laughing with other staff. My husband and I are both starving and annoyed at the lack of service. When I said we needed a few minutes, I didn't mean 15. We are not people to complain or to leave a restaurant, but we had it and decided to get up and leave. Left a few bucks for the Coke I ordered. As we were leaving I could hear someone (assuming the waitress) say, "wait, why are those people leaving?" Because you made us sit there forever. It's not like the place was busy. I don't want to hold this against the owner because of the service by one person, but still deciding if we will be back. read more

I gave it a 4 only because it was a little pricey. The entire staff was great! The food was great. GWRRA Chapter A said they want to go again next year. All 8 of us were happy with the staff and food...They are very customer orientated. Those that ordered from the bar were very satisfied with the selection. Some complained they did not serve vegetables with the meal. Ribs were fall of the bone delicious. I had the fish and chips (the only one), and it was great. Few things about Fins, the food is excellent, the staff is very friendly and attentive, however, the kitchen is slow. Now, I realize that we ate here the first week they were open, and that they have some¨bugs¨ to work out. But it should not have taken 2 hours for my family of 4 to have dinner. They are also a tad pricey in my opinion. Now these things will not deter me from returning, we need more eateries in the downtown New Baltimore area. I will also say, that they do need to figure out their identity. The decor, music, flat screens with sports playing and menu do not gel. Went to Finn's for first time earlier this month and were hesitant to try it based on some reviews we read. But, we wanted to check out for ourselves and see the renovated building, also. Two of us got the Studebaker Salmon grilled and both are anxious to go back and get it again - It was phenomenal! Other 2 dishes were pasta and they loved theirs, also. We were told they recently got a new Chef, which may be the difference. If you were disappointed before, go back and try it out again. Very glad we did and we'll be back! read more

Second time here. First time was bad as well. Probably will never go back. Tried breakfast. Food wasn't bad, however the off brand jelly must have been outdated as it was hard and terrible. Service was the absolute worst ever. Took 1 1/2 hrs. Were seated right away, however, but had to chase down waitress for bill then chase down again just to pay. Ask for coffee refills. No one else can cash you out but YOUR waitress. Everyone in our party said never again. Prices are a little high. read more
