Went here last night for a cozy date night on a very cold night. It was a lovely and quiet on Tuesday. The food was delicious. We started with the focaccia with whipped ricotta and prosciutto. Both of us ended up ordering steak and it hit the spot! Sides: charred carrots and brussel sprouts. Both were good but our fave were the carrots. Drinks: Cashmere Sweater and Mt Etna were yum. I would save the Mt. Etna as an after dinner drink. But I loved the smoky rum flavor notes in it. Some of the negative reviews below are way off imho. High ceilings , big modern bar, modern classic decor , I heard was designed by the same designer of Autograph Brasserie, White Dog Cafe and Rosalie. The ambience was low light with. Plates and glassware and cutlery well matched the decor and vibe as well. The bio of the chef I read is also remarkable -- Maria trained under Solomonov ( Zahav) and worked on Vetri projects. The menu is 1 page but covers a wide vanity - antipasti, mix green ,Caesar and beet salads, homemade pasta, chicken parm, branzino and chops ( steak , pork chop) and pizzas. Overall I'd say it was overpriced for the portions and quality. My friend ordered the Margherita pizza and the server said the portion would be really small and she should get more stuff. The pizza ended up being actually pretty big-- definitely enough for one person. I ordered the short rib and onion cappelletti and the portion was tiny and I did not get a warning. My other friend got the crab ravioli and it was also tiny. Considering how expensive they were I was annoyed to be leaving hungry. And the fact that the server didn't seem to have menu knowledge because she wrongfully warned us about the pizza and not the pasta portions. Things my friends and I ordered Short rib and onion cappelletti: 2.5/5 The few bites on the plate were delicious, but I was done in one second. I'm also not an overeater at all and usually take so long to finish my food so that's saying a lot. It had a really good sweetness about it without being too sweet so that was cool. This place is beautiful. The staff is very nice and it was a great atmosphere. I went there for lunch and it wasn't busy at all so service was very quick that day. The food is good. I would need to go back to try other items on the menu to say if I love this place or not but I would recommend going there. The tuna crudo is also addicting, but I feel like I got more potato chips than tuna this time around versus last time. My two boys and wife really expected this experience to be extraordinary as it was a very special occasion and they had eaten here before. Raving about the quality as being truly " Vetri " and Italian. I cancelled our other reservation. Motto: It costs far less to keep a patron returning than to turn them off by serving and acknowledging sub par prepared and possibly uncooked or cold food. Conclusion... I liked it. It was great. And disappointing. Was it extraordinary........yes, but not in the way Marc would expect culinary to go. In order of plated or beverage service here's the individual takes; Ratings by dish : - = not good. + = good or great Beverages............ +Their gin drink was absolutely superb. Perfect and a beautiful glass. -Wine requested to be oakie? Meh Red......meh Bread................. -Focaccia ? A new invention. "Hardasaroccaccia" And, yes, Italy has multiple kinds of focaccia. This was more like a Philly pretzel with ricotta. Meh. Did you forget the olive oil? Meals.................. -Shrimps we're great ? But the sauce had a Spice of 'soured earth' quality, poor finish. Were the herbs stale? Start over on the on the sofrito. Just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use it. Compare this with the oversized plate of undercooked meat below. -A Huge Fried 12" pork tomahawk - barley fit on plate, w veges - but verified RAW inside w blood - both guests complaining after eating the raw part. Again, you can't see it with the lighting. (Highly recommend a Lighting Consultant who knows what they're doing to be brought in. This is a difficult space, and even if you thought it would, the white ceiling didn't help.) -Both expensive entrees came out at least 10 minutes after all other food. I kept looking around. I thought they forgot us. Why? They obviously were unprepared for the pork chops' timing - thus served partially raw. Deserts.................... -Chocolate cake was iced cold (wholesale bakery cake from Reading PA is better). Tasted Like cutting into cold cake. Because it was cold and tasteless. And gelato was small ( one teaspoonful) but barely mediocre- No vanilla taste ( why not olive oil cake like the fantastic cakes that are made in Italy that are so much better than the crap we get here?) -Two - 1" pieces of Blondie was offered as a comp for raw pork - but it seemed stale. Awful. Or just a poor recipe. Really poor. And, dots of Espresso moose didn't go w it. -Gelato. ? Honestly, if you're going to re-create, it's gotta be better not worse. The cart looks stupid. Couldn't hear young staff. +This lack of prep was nothing to do with our waiter, because my two young lads had the same waiter last time, and he was great! -Icey Cold (ONLY) water available in restrooms ? A serious health code violation. I am concerned about the cooking staff and hand cleanliness. Miscellaneous........ +Great music and art -Totally missed our retirement notice in the "special occasions" reservation message. I would expect even a chain would take notice. Conclusion... We were told about the chef who makes this wonderful warm focaccia with ricotta and prosciutto. The focaccia came out room temp to cool in temperature with tasteless cheese and prosciutto. Not even a knife to cut it so we hacked it apart with a butter knife. Next up a warm salad for my wife. Definitely needed some acid like lemon or vinegar. My tomato and watermelon salad had a handful of small chilled balls of watermelon. Tomatoes were good. Then it took 45 minutes for our pasta to come. By the way, we had the 5 pm reservations so the "restaurant is busy" line doesn't work. I got 5 hard / tough pieces of pasta, yes 5, for $22. When you have to cut pasta with a knife, not good. And my wife's $20 fettuccine was luke warm and cold in some spots. We left without even trying desert lest get even more disappointed. For a great Italian meal head downtown to Grand Caffe L'aquila and avoid this pretentious ripoff with mediocre food. We were excited about another Vetri restaurant, i love Vetri restaurants and their pastas. And this one was somewhat close to us and easier to get to than going into Philly. We decided to come here a few weeks before my husband's birthday to celebrate since we would be at the shore during his birthday. We had a couple different servers and they were both very helpful and attentive. We ordered cocktails. Both were good but it was pretty much all drinks we've had before. There was no real out of the box inventive cocktails. But they were decent- and my husband's cocktail that had smoke in it they brought over a cloche to smoke the drink in which was cool. No one mentioned that it was my husband's birthday. We ended up splitting an appetizer, a few pastas, and an entree. Pastrami sweetbread with beet mustard- nice flavor, glad we got this. The beet mustard was very interesting and my husband loved it - and he doesn't even really like beets. Crab and shrimp Pacherri Al forno- it was just ok. Kind of disappointed because this was what I was most excited about and was a little bit of a let down. I didn't really get much crab or shrimp flavor it just tasted fishy and it was ground up. The sauce wasn't really anything special either. Potato tortellini with pesto- glad we got this pasta as well. I definitely liked this one better than the crab one. This is the Vetri pasta I know. Fresh basil flavor,delicious pasta. Waygu rib cap- very tender with great flavor. Really enjoyed it . Creamed corn- very good Charred Cauliflower Cacio e Pepe- good but a little on salty side We also split a dessert- some kind of spumoni dessert which was decent. I ordered an espresso too but it didn't come until after our dessert. Overall this place was very good and we enjoyed our meal. I'm glad we tried this restaurant and checked off another Vetri restaurant off our list. It was very good but nothing that blew us away that made us want to come back right away. There are those chefs/restauranteurs who are so synonymous with a location that you never expect them to move beyond it. For the longest time that Philly chef was Marc Vetriso when I first saw that he was opening the next restaurant in Bryn Mawr I had to check to story lead a few times to ensure that it wasn't a typo! But seeing was believing that led to a fantastic Italian steakhouse with meals and mangia of epic proportions. But this is a steakhouse that puts as much effort into its fantastic pasta, antipasti, and side while encouraging a family-style meal of sharing. For our first experience here we had the Sunday Dinner special with an amazing prime rib and the chance to indulge in a plentiful assortment of sides, breads, and antipasti beforehand. Its a special that they only have on special occasions these days, but the prime rib was so popular that it does make. Between regular events like a good happy hour and Wine Wednesdays, to plenty of special dinners and a selection of in-house art from various artists hanging on its walls, there are plenty of reasons to check out Fiore Rosso on the regular! The Brussels sprout burrata was good but not worth raving about. We had the short rib cappelletti and the rigatoni bolognese pasta which were both good. The short rib did have a strong onion flavor to it and was on the sweeter side but was delicious. The bolognese was very good and probably the best I've had in a while - definitely recommend! It's now called il Fiore. Easy free parking. Beautiful decor. Attentive staff who were cheerful but not intrusive. The cocktails and wine selection were great. But the food was disappointing. We were a party of 4 and we shared plates. On the staff recommendation we got the beet salad which was very light on the beets. The bean dip was good. The carbonara pasta was also decent. We then had 2 mains and 2 sides. All 4 were bland. The mushrooms were bland. Mostly button with a little king oyster. It was undercooked. The Brussels sprouts were also undercooked. The swordfish was pale and presented weakly on a white dish with just a ring of pesto garnish. The mouth texture was off, as it was mushy instead of meaty. The ribeye was also weak. We chose the herb butter sauce (other choices were beef tallow and tomato basil) but we could detect its presence. It was cooked medium rare, as requested but was lacking in a good beefy flavor. With cocktails and a bottle of wine this was over $500 and not worth it at all. We won't be back. read more

We had reservations for 7pm and we're promptly seated. Open concept partially unfinished industrial vibe meets mid century. The service was amazing , welcoming , friendly and warm. We opted to have the 2 Dove drinks. These were grapefruit and tequila based very good and refreshing. The menu for food is set up in courses and meant to shared. We felt like we wanted to taste a variety of the menu. We started with the focaccia with mortadella , Baby gem salad both were great focaccia was a little on the messy side with the cheese top but in a good way. The salad had a light vinaigrette green goddess dressing which was great. We tried the bolognese pasta and the stuffed artichokes these were a star so so good lots of good flavor and perfectly done pasta and prepared artichokes. We also opted for the veal chop which came with a tuna whip, and roasted chicken, we chose crispy potato side dish along with the cacio e pepe cauliflower which I loved. This cauliflower was a party in your mouth, cheesy a hint of vinegar , and all around good. Dessert we opted for chocolate cake and the chef sent out crostata to celebrate our anniversary. Both were so good we couldn't finish but appreciated the sentiment. This meal was very good , service was stellar, all in all this a great choice. My only regret is that we Didn't get the steak. We now have a reason to go back to the restaurant. All in our bill was 333.00 that included gratuity. We over ordered slightly so we could have a good taste of many different items. The hardest thing I've had to do all year is to determine if this place is a 4 or a 5... maybe a 4.4... I've been following this place being built on Instagram for a while now and am excited to have something like this in the suburbs so close to us. We came here this evening to celebrate my birthday, since we'll be away on my actual birthday, and I wanted a really decent meal. No one on the staff made mention of my birthday, but it's probably because of the reservation app. I feel we had a similar issue with the reservation system for our anniversary at another location. We ordered a few cocktails, a few kinds of pasta, a few sides, a steak, and an appetizer. One of the best flavors might have been the sweetbread with the beet mustard. I didn't even know I enjoyed beets until I tried that sauce. The wagyu rib cab was cooked perfectly and precut, perfect for sharing. Our two plates of pasta were crab & shrimp paccheri al forno and potato tortelli. Surprisingly, the tortelli was the better dish. With our wagyu, was cacio e pepe cauliflower and grilled corn with bone marrow. Both were good. Good sums up the whole meal. It was really good. Was it great, no? Was it the best Vetri offering we've ever had? no? Would we be back? sure. Not anytime soon, but I'd come back. Almost every other Vetri venue we've dined at had the best iteration of something we've ever had. Here, it was just beet mustard. Still, not a single item was bad. Not a single item made me question it. I'm not a fan of steakhouses anymore, but was really interested in this place, because of the chef. If the Veal is on the menu in the future, I might go for that. Possibly even the big rib eye, but we wanted to try a lot of different things. Whenever we dine out, we like to enjoy as much as we can. I really wanted to like this place, it's sleekly designed - though they should have built in more standing room near the bar, this felt like a pretty glaring layout miss - and you can tell they are earnestly trying to create an elevated experience, but they were off the mark in several areas. First, our reservation was for 7:45 but we weren't seated until around 8:20 - and one of the bartenders was more interested in having a conversation with a patron than taking our drink order, which we were clearly waiting to give so we could at least enjoy a cocktail while we waited. When we were finally seated and put in drink orders, they only brought 3 out of 4, with, ironically, the missing drink being the easiest to deliver, a glass of wine... We then ordered a bread starter but it's unclear if our main server actually put it in... luckily the server's assistant brought it for us. The main server then disappeared for awhile while we waited to put our full order in - all told, the pace of service meant we didn't leave until after 11 - that's pretty ridiculous for an original 7:45 reservation. The most glaring issue is that they do not list the walnuts that are in the brussels sprout dish, to which my wife is allergic - she took one bite and realized it. They graciously (sarcasm) took that off the menu, but with a $600 meal, they could have done more given the inherent danger in that situation. This was our first visit to Vetri's new suburban steakhouse but as there was also quite a bit of seafood offered on the menu we decided to go ahead and give it a try. We found the service friendly & excellent from start to finish and the atmosphere was bright and spacious with lots of breathing room between tables which is always something we find appealing. The food overall was excerpted well with bright flavors and good portion sizes but the prices were quite high compared to other equivalent establishments. While it was a good experience no aspect really stands out that would draw us back for a must do repeat visit. read more

They didn't have any gf pasta or pizza, they forgot to bring out my dad's beer, everything was far too salty. The drinks were average at best and between 18-22 dollars, my moms vegetables were still frozen, and they didn't take the croutons out of my salad even though I told them I can't eat gluten. My burger was RAW like literally still mooing yet charred and dry on the outside. I got cooked carrots ($16) and it was literally just in a sauce of butter. The service wasn't great yet they try to charge NYC prices. The ambiance was nice but absolutely did not make up for the food. read more

Underwhelming...expected a great deal on their food but was unimpressed. The only thing we loved and enjoyed was the focaccia with ricotta and prosciutto de Parma. Pasta dishes came out a tad cold and thus never enjoyed the flavor. We brought it home and zapped it in the microwave and it was great! Beef tartare was just fine, nothing special. The ambiance was nice and we were greeted by a very nice gentleman and seated immediately for our 6 o'clock reservation. The server was attentive for the first half of our meal, a bit too attentive as we felt a bit rushed to order our dinner when the restaurant was 75% empty. She said she wanted us to order soon so there was room on the table for when we were done our apps. She never came back after that, the food runners delivered the food with a full table of appetizers, and the food was delivered cold. We had the cacio de Pepe, short rib, bolognese, and the branzino. The branzino was nothing they advertised and didn't even look like it. When the server finally came back I asked her if it was different and she said "oh yes, we don't have whole fish anymore" which would have been nice to know because I would have never ordered it the way it was served. We didn't order desserts because nothing was appealing. We also paid $17 for an ice cube in our cocktail drinks! The ice cube took up the entire glass and there was probably less than 2 oz of a cocktail left once the ice cube was taken out. There was also a band playing in an empty restaurant that was obnoxiously loud and of all the empty tables we were sat right next to them. Not too sure for the prices if we will give it another chance as we couldn't tell if it was tasteful being that it was all cold. The server finally returned to our table that was completely covered with empty glasses and plates (some still filled with food because we didn't eat it) and said a Busser will be back to clear the plates. She had nothing in her hands and left with nothing! Full hands in full hands out, there's no reason why a server should ever walk away from a cluttered table empty handed unless patrons are still eating and have voiced they don't want the plates removed. Not a pleasant experience especially considering it was a celebration dinner. I don't accept "off nights" in a restaurant - there was no excuse for this experience being it was 6 o'clock on a Wednesday with a pretty empty restaurant. We had an opportunity to sit at the bar. Our bartender was amazing. She recommended warm bread with almond butter with seafood. We also had the warm salad. It was delicious. We also had the lamb which was prepared delicious and presented already cut. The wine list is really great. We tried the Sangiovese Chiant. It was excellent. We had the butterscotch pudding for dessert. This was recommended by the bartender. read more

We had an incredible experience last night at Fiore Rosso. The service was impeccable. The food was to die for. We had the prosciutto focaccia, grilled prawns, fettuccini bolognese, oysters, halibut, and the Waygu steak. Every dish was delicious. The cocktails were spectacular as well. I tried the gin cocktail and the tequila cocktail. My husband had the old fashioned and said it was the best he's ever had. We also really enjoyed the dessert with the wine pairing. We haven't had a meal this good in a long time. This is definitely our new spot. We highly recommend! read more

Went to Fiore Rosso last night for dinner. We are a huge fan of Vetri restaurants. The original, Amis back in the day, and Fiorella pasta were all excellent experiences. Fiorella in particular is a very good newer addition to the Philly dining scene. Fiore Rosso has good cocktails, and a good wine list, some of our starters like the crudo and the pasta were good. The bone-in ribeye was a miss. The rub and the crust was great, but the steak was tough and the fat was really rendered at all. Probably the biggest disappointment was the level of service. It was really off, and not anything like the professionalism we've seen at other Vetri locations. The restaurant was not busy, and yet the service was neglectful at best despite being well staffed. I hope it gets better, we will give it another shot in a few months. read more
