The rude blond bartender and mediocre food that she gave me in a to go bag (without asking for it to go) because it was 10:30 and they closed at 11:00 makes it easy to recommend you avoid this place at all costs. Oh and the scallops were gray and not edible. Seems like most people who have given this place good reviews consider McDonalds dining out. read more

I was very impressed tonight by my experience at Fire and Grain in the Hershey Lodge! Service was very friendly and you can tell they are very proud of the food they are serving there. I ordered a signature cocktail, the Black Walnut Old Fashioned and it was very yummy. To eat I had a variety of small plates which were all very tasty including a red beet salad, braised short rib with crispy potatoes, Buffalo chicken meatballs and a few flatbread pizzas. Everything was very very good - so much that I went back for seconds. In addition we ordered shrimp scampi with a side of salmon take home for our babysitter and she was raving about how good it was even after riding around in a car. A few people there mentioned happy hour so we will definitely be back next time we have a date night! read more

Unless they get better staff who know and value customer service I will NEVER come back again. The first night we tried to get in the wait was over one hour. Not unusual for spring break but obviously unprepared. However there. We're many tables open and when I inquired with the hostess there who looked and acted very immature she was nonchalant and dismissive. Gave another try the next night. Nice male hostess but the waitress was dreadful. She rarely came to our table gave misinformation on a couple menu items then grossly overcharged for the meal I had to see the manager who wasn't apologetic or much better. The food wasn't bad in fact I would give it more stars but for an expensive hotel stay and this calibre restaurant you just expect more professional people. Even though there was a crowd at the desk and we were a party of ten we were seated within five minutes splitting our party into two booths back to back. Service was quick. Most of my group went to the buffet. I ordered off the menu. Meat Lovers Omelet: the omelet was filled with bacon, sausage and ham. The cheddar cheese though was not completely melted. It was a good sized portion. The grilled tomatoes reminded me of my time overseas in particular England. They were delicious. There was also a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate cupcake wrapped in a paper petal. Overall this was a great place for breakfast for such a large group. I would definitely go there again. read more

Aside from this place being at the Hershey Lodge, there really isn't much special about it. I suppose it has an interesting back story, but I felt as though the staff was a bit disorganized and maybe even unprofessional at times. Most of this was determined at the door, when the hostess led not one, but 2 groups of people to their tables before me when I was clearly first in line (they don't accept reservations). The first family was snooty, so they didn't say anything. The second group seemed clueless so I let it slide again, but thankfully the third group did right and acknowledged my presence. And no, it wasn't three different hostesses who didn't know I was there the whole time. It was the same two girls... My meal was ok. I went with the Salmon Bruschetta and the Egg Crepes. A bit pricy for no more salmon than I got, but I did notice they offer a breakfast buffet. I might go back to try it sometime, but its not topping my list. If I had to sum this place up in one sentence it would probably be something like this: A place for haughty big-feelers to start their day with a salty breakfast that satisfies stature more than appetite. We like fire & grain at Hershey Lodge. There is a great variety of breakfast items on the menu. The dinner menu contains many options too. We liked their salad selection. I ordered mushroom & asparagus salad. It is very delicious and is a must-try. We ordered the buffalo chicken meatball as the appetizer. Strongly recommend too. We found Fire & Grain on Yelp after trying to get into another restaurant that had a 60+ minute wait. Sometimes things just work out in your favor. The entire area was crowded because Hersheypark was open for a holiday fest and Trans-Siberian Orchestra was doing two shows at the Giant Center that day. Fire & Grain was able to fit in our party of four on a very busy Sunday night and we couldn't be more appreciative. Since we were there during the daily happy hour, we took advantage of the deals offered on appetizers and flatbreads portion of the menu. Fire & Grain far exceeded our expectations. The quality of the food was phenomenal. The service was patient and timely. My only complaint is that the receipt only showed the discounted happy hour prices and not what the bill could have been. I think that hurts the servers ability to make tips. We guessed at the difference and I think we made our waitress whole. We had a great experience at Fire & Grain!! read more

My first time here was for an event and I was blown away by the food. The service was okay, but the fabulous flavors made up for it. The cozy atmosphere surrounded by the fireplace was just what I needed on this cold, ugly day. Between the fig and balsamic flatbread, the buffalo chicken meatballs, the farro salad and the crispy potato wedges with short rib... I couldn't contain myself. I ate my body weight in food and left feeling bloated and happy. It was the event that brought me in, but that food will surely bring me back. Food and service was horrible. My wife ordered the pumpkin ravioli and I ordered the linguine and meatballs. The food was on the table less than 10 minutes which tells you the food isn't fresh. The ravioli was served cold, so they can't microwave food correctly. The linguine and meatballs was so bland and the meatballs was just mush. And we didn't see the waitress for 20 minutes after she dropped our food, so we couldn't even let them know how we felt about the food or even get refill of water till she came over to ask if we wanted containers. read more

Wow, I never expect too much from a hotel restaurant but this place is great. The atmosphere allows for a nice couples night but also a family night. The menu has great options and the drink menu is pure Hershey. I had the seafood skillet and the shrimp, scallops and lobster were all perfectly cooked. The sauce was tasty and I had to fight the urge to lick the bowl. My wife had the short rib bolognese and that was really good..not on every menu. I've been to this restaurant twice while visiting Hershey and both times I was pleased with their food. Both times I was here I had their seafood macaroni and cheese which is delicious and has huge chunks of crab and lobster inside of the dish. Their flatbreads are also delicious and they offer a few options for them. We split the crab flatbread which did not disappointment. My coworker had their fig and prosciutto flatbread with arugula and the table was pleased with this as well. They offer a happy hour which includes house wine for $5 and their cocktails for half price- from $14 regular price to $7 during cocktail hour. Their cocktail menu was definitely the highlight of the table and no one stopped at just one drink. The server was helpful to any questions that we had and he was friendly as well. read more

I had a very memorable dinner here. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I ordered the mussels to start and one of the pasta dishes I could not pronounce as a main entree. Both were flavorful and filling. The prices were on the higher end but for the convenience of the restaurant being in the lodge and the service, I think it was reasonable. I'm surprised to see the current rating of this restaurant to be so low! We went last night and had a wonderful meal. Our service was spectacular, all of the food delicious, a great atmosphere, and our 2 & 4 year old enjoyed it too! We took advantage of their happy hour specials, which included reduced prices for the speciality cocktails, half priced meat and cheese platter, and shareable dishes. Everything was delicious!!! We will absolutely return even if we are not staying at the Hershey Lodge. I would say this is one of the better restaurants in the area. read more

Breakfast buffet delicious..... NOT!!!! Warning ....order your egg, to order... you'll thank me. I thought everything in the buffet was ehhhh.... You pay an arm and a leg but if you get the kids eat free deal it makes it a little more palatable. We had a fabulous dinner tonight at Fire & Grain! We couldn't have been happier with our meals or service, from start to finish. I have some food intolerances, and when I described them to Téa, our server, she offered to bring the chef to our table. Dillon arrived a few minutes later, listened, and made a few suggestions. Our food arrived quickly, and all of our dinners were seriously delicious and perfectly prepared (cliché, but true). We drove many hours today, through two thunderstorms and with frequent choruses of "are we there yet?" and "how much loooonger?". They were very accommodating by moving our reservation a half hour when we got stuck in traffic. But the rest of it was just not good. Service was borderline friendly but very slow. They sat us directly under a vent. Ignored us for most of the night. Overcooked the food completely. Didn't even ask how the meal was. Little more than a Denny's Stopped in here for Sunday Brunch and was completely disappointed. The decor is very family diner with zero ambiance; bright, loud and echoing. Everywhere you looked was dirt: the floor was covered in food scraps, empty sugar packets and crayons. Our booth seat had crumbs on it and the table was still sticky. We stopped off at the Fire and Grain for a drink before we had dinner at another restaurant. Due to the pandemic rules, we had to order something to eat if we wanted to have a drink. We ordered the cheese and charcuterie platter. OMG! Much of the stuff on the platter was locally made, and it was superb. We highly recommend it. It also helped that it was considered Happy Hour, so the cost of the platter was reduced (not half price like the waiter said, but still a bargain in our opinion). I think my drink (prosecco) could have been a bit colder, and my husband's beer tasted a bit flat and his glass wasn't as clean as it should have been, but we would go back for the cheese and charcuterie platter. We decided to have the Vegetarian Benedict; one traditionally made and one had english muffin instead of quinoa. The food was vibrant and tasted super fresh with all the vegetables. The brownie sundae was just ok because it really lacked a deep chocolate flavor. The appetizers ordered at our table were tasty--hummus, shrimp and polenta. OMG - this restaurant was a continuation of the horrific service we experienced throughout most of the Hershey Lodge & Hershey Park, from the concierge desk to their high end restaurant to their Park employees, & on to this breakfast place. On the surface, this seems like your standard breakfast buffet place - crowded wtih lots of people even at 10am, & tons of families with kids. As the Lodge offers a Kids Eat Free package, I expected lots of kids & was not surprised. We sat down & my son ordered the buffet ($17 for adults/children over 12 years old). It was your average buffet, with some scrambled eggs, sausage/bacon, bread, oatmeal, cold cereals, & fruit. The pastry selection was not great (no muffins, croissants, or other standard offerings, etc. - just a few not so fresh danishes/cinnamon buns). The buffet comes with your choice of drink & also you can order eggs/omelettes from the kitchen in addition to the regular offerings at no charge. Now to the problem. While our waitress was sweet enough when taking our order, she NEVER RETURNED. So much so, that she did not know that after 27 minutes (yes, I counted!) I still was not served my dish that I ordered from the a la carte menu (toasted sesame bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, & veggies). She actually came back to the table at the 30 minute mark (never came to check if we needed drinks, refills, or if everything was okay) & said "Are you ready for the check now". It was all I could do to burst out laughing, but I said "I would be if I had been served my food". She was shocked, said that the food runners should have brought it to me half an hour ago & went right to check on it. She then brought out the dish, which had a plain bagel & told me that they were out of sesame bagels. I told her that after 27 minutes for a plate that only had a toasted item & nothing cooked, to bring out something other than the type of bagel I ordered without asking me if I wanted to change my order first was appaling. I requested a manager & when the young manager came over she stood silently while I told her what had happened & then it was almost like her brain got stuck - she said "well, we did have sesame bagels but we ran out of them". I told her that this was only one minor issue, but what about the fact that for 1/2 hour I waited for my breakfast while the other person at the table was served several dishes. She again talked about the bagel. I told her that this was by far the worst service I had experienced in a long time. She finally got it after I repeated myself about 5 times & told me she would not charge me for my breakfast. I told her I was not planning to pay for it anyway as it was 1/2 hour late & not what I ordered, but thanked her nonetheless. We left there feeling very annoyed, stressed, & vowing to write this review. Management - pay attention. You need to take a long hard look at this restaurant & make some major changes! read more

Unbelievably good meal on Saturday night at Fire & Grain. My husband and I were staying in the Lodge and had a reservation for 8:30pm. We arrived early and pulled up a stool at the bar inside Fire & Grain. Had the meat & cheese platter, which featured local meats and cheeses. The combination was perfect. At around 8pm we advised the hostess that we were there for our reservation and were seated immediately at a cozy booth. Our server was extremely friendly and the food came out very quickly. For an app we shared the crab flatbread. It was simple; a cream sauce, crabmeat and a sprinkling of Old Bay. Delicious. For our entrees, we both got the rib eyes. I do not care for potatoes, so I requested the parmesan polenta be substituted. The ribeye, accompanied by the Bernaise sauce and mushrooms, coupled with the polenta was one of the best meals that I ever had. Fresh, hot crusty bread was also brought to the table. We shared a smores cake for dessert, which was way too sweet. However, nothing could ever top the first few courses of this meal. The following morning, we had the buffet at Fire & Grain. While it was no where as good as the dinner, it was fine. One nice perk was that the omelettes and Eggs Benedict are ordered with your server and brought to your table, rather than having to wait in a long line for an omelette and eating Eggs Benedict out of a steam tray. We had a lovely server again with breakfast and were seated immediately in a comfortable booth. read more

Pass. Food mediocre at best, ambiance is like eating in a warehouse, it's noisy and the service was lacking. $34 for a large New York Strip, which is pricey, but not terrible. However, it comes with nothing: no bread, no salad, the only sides were maybe 5 small potato wedges and some mushroom "crumbs." Bernaise sauce was tasteless. That's was it. For $34. No other vegetables, nothing. The steak was tough, even though it was cooked medium. The "machete" presented to slice the steak was so dull, my butter knife did a better job. I get it Hershey, you have a captive audience. You could have some respect for you guests/patrons and up the ante. This area has some great eateries. Fire and Grain isn't one. read more

As a vegan, I was pleased to find breakfast options clearly labeled as vegan on the Fire & Grain menu. My husband and I drove to the Hershey Lodge from a nearby hotel with the hopes of trying their tofu scramble. The place was crowded with many families around 9 a.m. on a Saturday, but we put our name in and decided to wait the 20 minutes for the table. I noticed most people going to the buffet so I asked the server before sitting if I could order off the breakfast menu and she informed me that they only offer the buffet during busy times. At that point, we decided to leave since (1) the tofu scramble was not part of the buffet and (2) even if the chef could make it for me, it wouldn't be worth paying the cost of the buffet. When I downloaded the breakfast menu prior to my visit, the full menu was posted under the buffet prices. Nowhere did I see posted that only the buffet was being served, nor was I informed of that by the host. I feel that Hershey is more concerned with the appearance of having "vegan" options but in reality they don't really care about accommodating special dietary needs. We went to all three restaurants in the Hershey Lodge and the only thing I was offered was oatmeal, which wouldn't bother me so much if - as I said - they didn't have vegan labels everywhere. read more
