I love this place, in comparison it's way tastier and portion sizes are really good. Worth the price for the food.

First time here. It's a good spot to go to for lunch. Food is not bad. Fountain drink options. The only distinctly "island" offering could be their coconut rice, which wasn't my favorite. I'll probably try the white or brown rice next tube and be fine though. Beef is definitely better than chicken. All in all, a decent place for lunch. Definitely fast. I've never been here before so I guess I was expecting food having something to do with islands. As just a good grill, it's what you'd normally expect. About $10 for a bowl, enough is a little expensive in my opinion, but I'm new to the area. read more

I live so close to here but never had a desire to order from here until I turned plant based. I ordered a bowl with brown rice, tofu, extra vegetables and some bomb ass fire island teriyaki sauce. It was so good! I love the kick of the fire island teriyaki sauce. Not too spicy and a little bit sweet. The serving size was fair for the price. After parking in their private lot, we walked in and studied their menu posted behind the counter high above. After ordering and paying, we were given a receipt with an order number printed on it for pick up. ORDERED: Luau Pulled Pork Sandwich-Spicy mayo, slaw, 2 pineapple slices, Pepper Jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, Bermuda onion and teriyaki sauce. With coleslaw as my side. Island Boy ordered-Pineapple Chicken Sandwich-Spicy mayo, pineapple slice, Pepper Jack cheese, cabbage, tomato, Bermuda onions and teriyaki sauce. With creamy tropical macaroni salad as his side. Although they have indoor seating, it was such a glorious day so cohort and I headed outside to their lanai (patio). The Hawaiian music that played through the speakers mounted along the interior and exterior, was cut off by a voice shouting out our numbers. Our plates of food were placed on trays for easy carrying. Ono grinds (delicious food). We both loved our meals immensely. The meats were tender and juicy, the flavors took me back to the beaches of Hawaii. With each bite, I could feel the warm sunshine beating on my face, as I close my eyes to soak in all the happiness my taste buds were experiencing, I could feel a cool breeze blowing through my hair and the waves of the warm, blue, ocean cleansed away the stress and ickiness. Ah!! To be island side again. MAHALO! I may not be able to get to the islands as often as I'd like, but it's nice to find eateries and such coming to the Main Land, if be a reminder of the Islands of Hawaii. Delicious!! This place is really really good, My co-worker told me about this place and I'm glad We finally got to come here. You can choose from different items on the menu, you can customize your own bowl, have a salad made, have a sandwich made of have a platter made which is like the bowl but with more food on a plate. I ordered a brown rice bowl with half tofu and half chicken with pineapple teriyaki sauce, DELICIOUS!! You can have veggies added to it if you wish for no additional charge. He let me sample some of the sauces before he put it on my bowl. I tried the spicy orange sauce and it was good, but I'm a sucker for teriyaki sauce lol. The portion of the bowl is not big, but it's enough to keep you going without making you full. My GF got the volcano chicken salad. I kinda wish there was a little more chicken on the salad, but the dressing was really really good. I give this place 5 stars, excellent tasting food and friendly staff. read more

This is one of my favorite places to get a quick bite to eat. You can get rice or noodle bowl, salads, or sandwiches, all of which are pretty good. I generally like to get a rice bowl with steak, vegetables, and peanut sauce or spicy teriyaki. I also really like the mango chicken salad. Rice bowls are made to order in front of you as you go down the line and salads and sandwiches are made in the back and brought out to you. There are plenty of tables inside and a small patio area outside. The restaurant is clean and the employees do go around and clean up. The kitchen is visible to the customers and appears very clean and well kept. There is plenty of parking in the lot along side the restaurant or in front. I like to come here and get a rice bowl to go. I know that I am getting a fairly healthy, good quality meal. read more

Fire Island Grill is nestled in a Shopping center about 4 doors down from Albertsons Supermarket. Lots of convenient parking. Prices are very affordable, I got the Mango Passion Chicken Salad, Price only $8.50 and 619 calories. It was delicious. Can't beat that yelpers! I've been meaning to try Fire Island Grill for quite some time now but it was so out of the way for me since I live on the east end of Simi. Well I'm glad I finally made it because this place is a great alternative to your normal burger and fries fare. The store itself is very clean, well decorated, and has a Chipotle atmosphere in terms of ordering style. One of the best features of Fire Island is that the calorie content is listed on the menus. For not being a chain and thus not being forced to show calories content, Fire Island took things up a notch in my book. Surprisingly many of the items on the menu aren't that bad for you either. I was able to now happily enjoyed my sandwich with a little less guilt. The customer service was also excellent. The manager (owner maybe?) was extremely helpful with selecting items and was very attentive when we were enjoying out meal. It was nice to actually feel like your business is truly appreciated. I highly encourage giving Fire Island Grill a shot. I know I'm looking forward to returning :) read more

Had the case of the late-night munchies but I did not want to go to a fast food joint. I was happy to see online that Fire Island Grill was still open till 10 PM so I can grab something more healthy to eat. I placed an order over the phone at 930p and they said it would be ready in 5 minutes. As promised I showed up five minutes later and the food was ready! We ordered a blackened shrimp bowl with spicy teriyaki sauce. In addition we ordered 2 chargrilled chicken bowls. I ordered rice for one of the bowls and noodles for the other 2. When I looked through them, I noticed they all had noodles. (This is where they lost a star for not getting it right the 1st time). As soon as I pointed it out, they jumped on it to make it right. I liked their sense of urgency at this point. If you're ever in Simi Valley, I highly recommend to stop here for a healthy bite to eat. read more

I went with my daughter and my nephew's girlfriend for lunch. While I'm not a huge fan of sweet flavors in an entree (i.e., pineapple, teriyaki flavor, things like that), I tried it anyway. This place reminded me of Chipotle in that they only have a few dishes one can order, but the combinations of what a person wants in each dish makes the variety much broader. I ordered a bowl with brown rice, stir-fried veggies (peppers, zucchini, carrots, broccoli) and chicken. We can then pick the sauce we want, so I asked for two.....a peanut sauce, and the teriyaki (I was trying to have an open mind). I first poured the peanut sauce on, and while it was good, it was a little flat when mixed with the all the other items. I added the teriyaki sauce, and that was a hit for me. It tasted really good..... even though it was a tad bit sweet. My daughter had their steak sandwich, and she liked it alot. I guess I was hoping for more to choose from on the menu, but for lunch, it was do-able. Unfortunately, I think they may use some kind of food preservative because I had my typical preservative reaction, but perhaps it was just a coincidence. I used to eat here 3 times a week. The food is fresh and good but it seems every month the portions get smaller and smaller. On my last visit the owner helped me ( older gentleman) and I asked him what specials they have today? He smirked as if to say im a cheap ass then pointed to the special board. I clearly felt he doesn't like coupons or specials. Hey my man, if you don't like your clients asking for deals, stop advertising them. Before I finished lunch I observed the owner raising his voice and speaking aggressively with his staff. That's not cool. The other staff is always nice and polite. I still eat here a few times a month. I hope the owner reads this and becomes more friendly. That would make this review worthy and make me happy...... read more

Been here twice now! First time I went with the Steak and Shrimp platter and it was good. Had the Island rice and that macaroni salad, both of which were great. Yes I still think their bowls are dumb, and their sauce is the been knees. However the meat is substantially better than I described in my first review. I am new to Simi Valley and exploring places to eat. Fire Island Grill for sure is a place I will continue to return to. I had the blackened shrimp bowl with white rice/veggies... SO YUMMY!!! Cannot wait to go back and try the other sauces. The shrimp was so much bigger than I usually get at other places, it was peeled, deveined, and tail off!!! Got this place catered for our wedding rehearsal dinner. The owner is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Bent over backwards to accommodate for us. From arranging everything over the phone to meeting him in person he was extremely polite and friendly and went out of his way to provide a great meal for all 60 of us! He even delivered the gigantic cooler full of food to our house himself, didn't have a delivery guy do it. No, he wanted to meet my wife and I and everyone else and wish us well. Like I said, he's a nice guy lol to say the very least. So as if that all wasn't good enough. We just got done dropping off the cooler back to his restaurant and upon arriving who else was there to open the door for us and offer us a free meal? Yes, the owner himself again. Blown away by his hospitality and customer service. The food was amazing as well!! Everyone at our rehearsal dinner loved it and we loved the sandwiches we got for free too! Really great food, really nice vibe inside, would not recommend choosing delivery, it's a minimum $20 for delivery plus $3 delivery fee just so it could get here in 50 minutes with a watered down soda (because of the melted ice), and a soggy burger. Overall I would say I will not judge this place by its delivery service because the food is great. Will be dining or picking up from now on. read more

I called them with a last-minute party order since my usual place was randomly closed that day. Staff was super helpful and put together an order for me that could be ready in less than 2 hours. Prices were great, too. When I arrived everything was ready and boxed up--hot stuff on one side, cold stuff on the other, just like it should be. I hate when the Mac salad sits on top of the hot foods! They included two bottles of sauces that were cleverly wrapped to prevent spills. Food was great! Everything was eaten. I haven't been here in a couple years. It is exactly how I remember it. Friendly staffed, greeting you with a genuine and enthusiastic, "Aloha!" I had the bowl - brown rice, chicken with the fire island teriyaki sauce. It comes with sautéed veggies, which worked great with the flavors. I appreciate that they were careful to ask before adding allergens (sesame seeds and peanut). If you like your food extra spicy, I'd suggest adding a healthy amount of siracha, you'll find it available by the soda machine in a pump format so you able able you apply whatever suits you. The restaurant is kept clean and I really like their outdoor seating, as it was purpose built and shields you from weather. Meaning that it is the opposite of the stuff have thrown together in parking lots to deal with the chaos of 2020/2021. I forgot to take a pic, but the pics already here do the job. Very disappointed, this is advertising as healthy food, but I'd say they were barely even meals. Ordered an island noodle bowl with veggies and grilled chicken, which sounded so appetizing. You could understand my disappointment when I recurved a soggy bowl of pasta with a few tiny pieces of chicken and sauce all over it. They have some hand sanitizer at the front. But this location is not having employees wear masks or gloves. The chicken was dry (not juicy). The steak was overcooked, like too much time beer the heat lamp. I hope for the employees and patrons that they do more to protect everyone from COVID. read more

My family of five loves this place. We "discovered" it when our school had a fundraiser here. It has now become one of our regular "go to" places. Our favorite menu item is the chicken bowl. Everyone can customize it to their liking. Kids are able to get veggies (which are never over cooked) on the side (more often than not, they end up in my bowl) and can add their favorite sauces. My growing teen has enjoyed the larger portioned Big Kahuna platter. The salads are very fresh, large and the unique dressings are so tasty. The staff is very friendly. (This is important!) Customers are acknowledged and greeted upon entering. Staff is patient, helpful and efficient and fair; you are made to feel that they care about your experience and want you to come back. They offer student discounts, an incentive program for frequent customers and daily specials. There is a fair amount of seating.
