Stopped in for A drink and decided to have Some food. I ordered the Candy Bacon Swiss Burger and I'M so glad I did. Everything from the Bun all the Way down to the Patty was absolutely fantastic! Fresh ingredients and Wonderful service made the outing worth a repeat. I would suggest ordering this burger with the root beer BBQ Sauce. The fries were great. I've been passing by this place for years and tonight finally stopped in. What a great experience. Ambiance is average, but food and service made up for it. Our server, "Suzy Q" was wonderful. She provided a sample of the broiled fish for my wife try before ordering and throughly explained the menu options to all. I ended up ordering the broiled fish, their specialty, and was not disappointed. It is excellent and cooked onsite over a wood burning fire. After our meal Suzy Q informed my son how he could order the special anytime he visited. She also highlighted the various other specials have available throughout the week. I wanted so much to like this place. We went specifically for their Mexican buffet on a Wednesday night, and were very disappointed. It was more of a taco bar, than a Mexican buffet, and many items were out on the buffet. The beef was unseasoned and bland, and the chicken had slivers of bone or cartilage. My boyfriend actually cut his gums on a hard piece of chicken. I thought about coming back to try other dishes, or the fish boil, but the Mexican buffet was such a disappointment, I don't think we'll be going back. read more

Very cool spot. You can smell the fire pit as soon as you walk out of your car. Smells amazing! Their wings are huge and deliciously breaded! We really enjoyed their cheese curds, as well! This is a local favorite with all u can eat fish, chicken and ribs depending on which option you purchase. While the fish is great- the chicken and ribs are mediocre. Drove past this place for 3 years. Always heard good things and decided to give it a try. Place is Jamm packed on the weekends which always caught my attention .I'm not a huge fan of boiled fish but they do a real good job with the boil. Fish is tasty. Tried the GF's BBQ and it was excellent. I haven't tried the pizza but it also looks excellent. Friday night a few friends invited me to try a different fish boil. I've been a regular at Fitzgerald's in Genoa city Wisconsin. Here's where a comparison ensues. The Fire Pit is huge. There is outdoor seating in front and in back. The dining rooms consists of one extra large one medium and one smaller area attached,to a full-size bar. I waited at the bar area, which had a bunch of regulars who came mostly to have almost frozen cold, cold beer and the evenings special fruity drink which included a topping of blueberries. The draw for me was the fish. I have to say I was a little disappointed because a few of the pieces of my fish was much tougher than I ever had at Fitzgerald's. The flavor was also just a little bit less seasoned then Fitzgerald's. The Friday night service was as others had advised very slow. In fact one of our members only requested an Italian beef sandwich. We had one full plate of food and we're up for a second platter from the buffet before his sandwich arrived. It makes sense to wait in the buffet line and eat much quicker. The chicken was tasty and covered with the same sticky sweet sauce as the fall off the bone ribs. So which place is better? That depends on you. If the bar experience is more important ( unlimited choices of varied drinks) then the Pitt wins. If a very clean and unique six sided Victorian home styled dining experience suits you better, then the always perfect and delectable fish, chicken and ribs at Fitzgerald's is a better choice. (Fitzgerald's has outdoor seating and requires a trip upstairs when a large crowd appears) I was rooting for the Pitt, only because it was so much closer to where I reside. You will find some really nice people at both locations including the staff and the patrons. I have a feeling people who enjoy this true Wisconsin type of meal are also people that are just friendlier than what you'll find in a downtown Chicago establishment. read more

I must say this is one of those hole in the walls that are getting it right. we have been visiting from Phoenix AZ, and our relatives took us here. at first appearance i was very sceptical, because it is in dire need for a makeover, but the lack of attention to the ambiance dose not show up in the food. the hamburgers where very flavorful, plentiful, and priced just right (only $8) they where served on a pretzel bun, with tasty fries. the fish boil is served in a buffet style and you can get ribs and chicken also. the cod taste just like lobster. ribs where very tender and had a very tasty BBQ sauce on them. the chicken was chicken, was not bad, but not like the fish or ribs. This place is pretty bumping and seems to have a good amount of fans. Not saying they are a bad Resturant but it defiantly wasn't for me. The chicken wings had a weird smell and taste. Doesn't mean that they suck, just means they weren't for me. The fish fry was good, but that was all that was good. Even the soda was gross to me. Again just my experience and what I thought. Love this place but lately it seems very neglected. Hunk of the roof fell off and has been in disrepair for almost a year now exposing the inside walls to water and therefore mold. Back fence fell down and the ceiling in ladies bathroom was falling in too. I question why this place that seems to be doing well would not think to do the repairs/maintenance to give best appearance possible. Frankly it makes me wonder about conditions in the kitchen that we can't see. If what we can see is in so awful shape. Clearly the owners do not care . We eat with our eyes and from the way the place is run down I've not been wanting to go back. Food is good although 16$ for fish boil seems kinda high. read more

Drove by the other day and spotted the sign "fish boil" and knew I had to go. This place is AWESOME! Family owned and run with that down home feel. Mom and Dad were serving the fish, chicken, ribs and fixings. The sons were running the show and boiling the fish. Only problem we had was the slowest waitress I've had in years. To his credit, one of the sons noticed the delay, took and delivered our drink orders himself AND bought us a round later. The fish was excellent. My wife had the chicken and said that was excellent too. Keep up the good work... We'll be back! read more

This place is delicious. We went on family night (Thursday) and we all had the Fish boil/BBQ special. There were 7 of us. The fish was fresh and yummy. The sides were also great. None of us where fans of the bread though. Our server was sweet and really good at her job. Since it was family night kids eat for .99 which was great. They also had Magic Dave there to make balloon animals for the kids. We were not impressed with him at all. He seemed like he hated his job and wasn't very experienced with making balloon animals or he just didn't care. He was also kind of rude. But the kids were excited so we tipped him anyway. This place was amazing!!!!! I was only here once last week but I would go again in a heartbeat! I had their fish boil with bbq chicken and ribs. Whatever boil you get its all you can it! The style it is served is like a buffet line. When you order your food at first the server gives you a ticket and that is how you get your food at the buffet. Different colored tickets mean the different selections you can get. When you go up there the first time they tear your ticket in half and that way when you go up your second time they know if you might want just the fish or whatever you paid for. Since you can just choose whatever you want out of the line it's great because then you don't get filled up on other things you won't eat. For instance, they also have coleslaw and potatoes but why would you want those when the fish is the winner?! At the end of the line they offer to put melted butter on it and you should do that every time! They use cod as their fish boil and it was so good! Next time I will just do the fish by itself but the ribs and chicken tasted great! Did I mention they have free dessert?! Yep! Free apple or cherry strudel for anyone! You don't have to order any certain thing on the menu either. They just have it in an open area and you can go pick whatever you want whenever! Can't wait to come back to this place and get filled up on their fish again! Just be warned on Friday night it is crazy busy so the server may not be the best. read more

The Italian beef was tender, well seasoned and more than enough for one person. Too bad it was cold along with the fries. The beef was so good that even cold gets it 5 stars. Coleslaw also was cold and fresh, very good! However, our server was so busy discussing her plans with the other servers our food arrived cold. We actually discussed how long can an Italian beef take to make just before it arrived cold. No refill for our beverage, no ketchup for our fries, she took my plate while food was still on the table. We had ice cold boneless buffalo wings MEH. She provided a glass of water that had the faint taste of sprite, again is she too busy with an empty restaurant to provide a glass of water with some ice in it? We have visited here from the Chicago burbs several times and have never been disappointed. We love the BBQ pork sandwiches, burgers and wings. The sauces they have are unique and delicious. The food was very good. Service not so much. When I asked what the tickets, were for the waitress should of realized oh they haven't been here before. I received more help from the young girls that was serving the food. I always had to ask for something more to drink. Mean while we had two ladies sitting behind us and their waitress was awesome we also listened to her and realized oh dessert comes with our dinner. Never was told by our waitress. Went to the Fire Pit for the first time tonight for the Fish Boil. The atmosphere is awesome and the decorating is fantastic!! The pallet wall is amazing!! The food and service was perfect!! The fish was nice and meaty, the potatoes were creamy and the onions were sweet!! Couldn't ask for a better meal and the price was extremely reasonable. One of the owners, Artie took time to come out to the tables and ask how everything was, what a nice touch. We will definitely be returning!! read more

I have struggled about leaving this as I like to find the best in everyone. The owner is amazing. He will greet you and remember you. The food is decent and the wait staff is nice, except for one more seasoned waitress who gets stressed by the crowds and prefers only locals...so I felt. The three things I would change...your prices or your quality. You cannot have A-OK fish boil and expect 14$ for it, I was sad the second try to the Fire Pit left me leaving hungry. Two, if you are going to advertise kids eat for .99 on Tuesday, then charge that. 5$ for milk is a little steep, also have more than one entertainer Get rid of the fly's outside. Country dining at the finest. Hectic, fun, and high energy. Food was amazing as advertised. We had the potato skins with pulled pork and egg roll cheese sticks to start. Both were phenomenal. Three of us had burgers which were fresh, hand made and cooked to perfection. Topped with a pretzel roll. They are known for their fish boil buffet which the last member of our party found delightful. This is our go to place for a fish boil! The fish is never over done and I love that you also have the choice to add BBQ chicken and/or ribs. The sides are traditional onions, potatoes, coleslaw and bread. The desserts are ok but usually you're too full for them anyway;-)) The staff is very friendly and the owners are likely to come and see how you're doing. It can get busy on Friday and Saturday so go early! It's a bit noisy but if you sit towards the back away from the bar or outside it's not a problem.
