To be clear this has absolutely nothing to do with the food. Fire Wings has since the first time I have ate here been my favorite wing spot. This has more to do with the vibe I got when visiting the location. I am not sure if Midtown has a unwelcoming vibe however that is how visiting this location seemed when given more time to process the experience. Awkward and cringy ordering process. Somehow was profiled and followed while in a small restaurant. (Not sure how that is even possible) Actually made it to where I did not even want to eat simply sat there boxed up my food and took it on the road and ate later. If I had to choose one chicken specific restaurant to visit until the end of time it would be fire wings. However I don't foresee myself dining in at this location ever again. Overall this place is not the best place to go if you're of African decent. Online ordering is unfortunately still the best route to take as it takes profiling out of the equation. Online ordering will value not only your business but due to no profiling it will enhance your wing experience. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area...However! Good for a late night meal when nothing else is open, although expect a little wait if it's a Fri/Sat night and there's a bunch of drunkies in there, mainly because it's one of the only places still open around midnight. I wanna preface this with saying that I've been to many Fire Wings before and we love it, its always bussin. Here's the problem with this location: 1. Why are 80% of my wings the size of my pinky. Not worth the money for that in my opinion. 2. The mozzarella sticks were not even breaded... they looked dipped in batter which was weird and did not taste good at all. 3. This was a delivery order so I can't comment on Fire Wings' Midtown location beyond the food, but, as expected, it was great! I ordered the 10 wing combo, which comes with two flavors, a dipping sauce, fries, and a large drink. I went with their Dragon and Korean Kick flavors. Both were great, but I'm not sure if the Dragon was supposed to be a dry rub or sauced style, which led to the 4 stars. My first was mostly dry, but flavorful, while there seemed to be a sauce that was under the wings - though I'm not sure if it was grease/juice that was soaking up the flavor of the wing or the actually sauce itself. If it's supposed to be a sauced wing, I can tell the sauce is good, but these definitely needed a little more! Korean Kick was fabulous and sauced to perfection. A nice combo of sweet and heat - just what I was looking for. I'd definitely get it again. The website doesn't do a great job of explaining which of the Asian flavors are sauced or dry rubbed, which would be helpful. It's easy enough to tell in some of the pictures, but not all. The fries were great! You can choose from an assortment of sides or toppings to add to your fries. I just chose their regular portion of seasoned fries, which was generously portioned and delicious! I grabbed ranch as my side sauce, which didn't really go well with the Asian-inspired wings, but was great for dipping the fries in. I get home and the wings look more naked than anything with barely any coating for salt and pepper wings. I had also paid for extra garnish which I didn't get. It was a hour before closing and my spouse called to place an order to pick up he was told " no, we aren't making any more orders." Than the women hung up we tried calling back and no one would answer. Fire wings has the best wings. Boneless or traditional this place slaps every time. The quality is always very consistent and i've never had wings that weren't delicious. One of my all time favorite flavors here is dragon i highly recommend you get this as traditional because it is by far the best way to do this flavor. I also always enjoy the hot wings the sauce is great and the wings are always sauced/seasoned well!
