I ordered a hot sub from Firehouse and when I got there it wasn't waiting in the pickup shelves. I stand there for like 5 minutes waiting for the employee, who is on his phone, to notice me. First things first, the interior is pretty nice. The service was less than ideal, and it took a while for the food to be ready. When I ordered a small sub, I had no idea it was THAT small. It dry and you could barely, if not at all taste the cheese. Overall, not great. Moral of the story is order a different sub and a larger size. read more

This was my first time eating a Fire House Sub . I had high expectations after seeing pics online and from their app. Drove 35 mins . I knew what I wanted . I ordered it just how it came with no changes . Had a coupon for a free soda and chips , the employee , the manager did not know how to process the coupon . Paid for my two subs . I got the receipt and checked it while I was waiting . There was a charge that said food $2.56 . I asked the manager what was the charge. She didn't know . Said it must be tax but tax was under that . That said 2.56 , after the manager asked a few people she said it was the tax . I said it's not 5.12 tax on 31.89 . I ordered a large SmokeHouse Beef and Cheddar and my guest had the NewYork Steamer . The subs look nothing like advertised. Not even close . $16.49 plus tax for my sub and I ate the whole 12 inch and was still hungry. I didn't care for my sub but my guest Liked theirs . I have to say I'm impressed with the fact they include a sodium warning ! It's serious ! The subs are way over the daily limit ! Almost double ! That much sodium did affect my bp so I won't be back . It was the first time we have gone to Firehouse Subs and we have eaten at two other branches since. But I do remember we enjoyed our sandwiches enough to eat at those other two branches, and that is the important thing. read more

I like the hot subs from Firehouse. I had the New York Steamer which has Corned beef brisket and pastrami, melted provolone, deli mustard, mayo, and Italian dressing. I am not able to have cheese, but in this case I didn't miss it. The roll was toasted well, meat cooked to perfection and the condiments added proportionately. From order to receipt of sandwich was probably about 6-7 minutes as there was one person in front of me. To me the sandwich was 5-stars and I would certainly go back and enjoy another one of their sandwiches. I also had the Firehouse Chili which to me didn't stand out as unique. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, it just wasn't something to go running to others to brag about. It had a little spicy kick to it, but it was subtle. I would order it again to compliment a sandwich, but unlikely to order on its own. The restaurant has a very nice Fireman decor with a very nice mural of a Lewiston and Auburn firetruck. Staff appears to keep eating area well clean with someone always washing tables and sweeping the floor. The reason for the 3-stars is the time it took to make the sandwich and the noticeable lack of training their younger staff likely received. Each sandwich appears to be made by the person who took the order. I enjoy that, but when you have two other staffers standing around who could be making an assembly line you are not utilizing your staff to their full potential. This may be intentional in order to personalize the experience from order to delivery, but it lacks efficiency from a business perspective. here is what I observed: one person was cleaning the dining area, one person as cleaning the steamers, one person and the manager were taking orders and making sandwiches, and one other person kept going to his phone in the backroom and checking it literally every 1-2 minutes. Although now that I think of it, that might have been the one cleaning the floor. I could be wrong. Despite the 3-stars, the sandwiches area great and I would certainly go back. Do not try to go during a rush hour because the parking is very limited as they sit adjacent to a Krispy Kreme and they tend to get busy as well. read more

I like the idea of Firehouse Subs. I like that they donate money to first responders. I just wish that they didn't get my order wrong every time I go in. I ordered a medium Italian, ALL COLD (said it twice just to make sure), with no ham, no mayo, extra pepperoni, extra cheese, and extra Italian dressing. I took my to go bag home, without looking inside - my mistake, and discovered a grilled ham and mayonnaise sandwich, basically the exact opposite of what I ordered. I'm not going to ask for my 20% tip back, I'm not going to call and complain, I'm just going to learn my lesson and not go back. read more

neither the auburn maine or topsham maine location can read orders, they ALWAYS add pickle spears even though I request none. Then the Topsham screws up the actual sandwich as well. Try hiring employees who care and read an order. In two days, four sandwiches and NONE were correct between the two locations. Waste of my money. read more

My parents owned a deli for 12 years so I'm pretty picky about my sandwiches. Firehouse is a top 3 sandwich chain for me with a variety of great sandwiches. Exceptional service. I could eat the grilled chicken on wheat every day, honestly! I'm so picky about my order, and they always accommodate, happily! This week, I ate outside with my 2 dogs, and the owner brought them a bowl of water. How nice is that? My 12 year old son is painfully shy, and they were patient and friendly. They gave him extra attention- and the food so high quality- how can I eat anywhere else when I'm up here? High five! And the best part is, my husband and I can agree on it!
