Normally we go here when we want an above average experience. That wasn't the case today. This is the small steak and cheese sandwich. It only had 2 strips of bell pepper and 3 strips of onions. Plus about 1 Tlbs of beef and they forgot the mustard for the low low price of $9.00. I ordered the small sandwich because I got a bowl of chili unfortunately the Chile was ice cold. Training in town and we stumbled upon the idea of hot sandwiches! Headed straight over based on reviews. A friend of mine ordered one sandwich, a side of chile, chips and a drink. I ordered two medium size subs. When inquiring what size small, medium, and larger was for the subs, three different employees had three different answers. I opted out of the mess of differing answers and just got two mediums. I believe they were something like 5'' or so. 25 minutes later our to go orders were ready. There was absolutely no hurry or efficiency behind that counter. They constantly rotated the cashier and who made the subs. Once back at the office the subs were sloppy and did not travel well. The pastrami sandwich with Swiss was tasty, the engineer was a wet sad mess. I'd like to say I'd try this place again but what I got compared to what I paid was decently disappointing. One positive point was a nice older cook from the back helped me with their array of hot sauce options and was super friendly. read more

I'm rating this on chain sandwich shops, not food in general. For a Firehouse sub, it was good. I find their subs a bit expensive, and some of the flavors are not for me. However, I have ordered 2 times on this trip, and the consistency has been on point. My additions were added, it was delivered fast. (Door Dash) And it didn't make me sick. So, again if you like these types of sandwiches, then you should have a good experience here. I tried the Italian, and the beef and cheddar. Came in here after not going to a firehouse in over a year due to being stationed overseas. It was really clean and the staff was kind. They still had their masks on, which is really rare in Alaska but that's fine. I was bummed to see that all the bottles of hot sauce had been removed. I don't understand how this place could earn anything less than five stars. You walk into a clean, well lit and uniquely decorated place. You're greeted by a friendly smile and hello. The sandwich options are amazing and everything I've tried is top notch. The food was delivered to my table within minutes and presented as expected for a sub shop. All of the fire gear on the wall is from local fire departments and even you're not eating, the painting on the wall is worth stopping by to check out. This place is a great choice for lunch or a family dinner. I recommend going with someone so you get two different sandwiches to share so you can try a more options. First Timer Here ! Have heard so many things, both good and bad so we finally gave it a try. We were originally going to order via door dash but I wanted to go in, so I did. I was surprised to see the door dash prices and the actual store prices are WAY different. About $5 a sandwich difference. The menu is straight forward and easy to read. The hop felt clean, tidy and in order. Although you could see smoke rising as they cooked the food, there was no lingering smoke in the shop which was really surprising ! There was 5 people working and one girl welcomed me to firehouse subs immediately as I walked in, which was nice. The woman who took my order was patient as I read the menu to decide. Ordered 4 sandwiches, one being hot. Kids sandwich comes with a mini rice crispy and soft drink. After I ordered, it was about a 25 minute wait which felt really long. While I was waiting , 3 door dash orders were made which I feel is why mine took so long. The cheesesteak was Really good !!! But they only had wheat bread , so it was still a little off. First time visiting Alaska and my friend recommended this place for me. Tbh, I didn't think of much of how a sandwich can be. Usually when I think about sandwiches. I will usually go to my usual which are Subway and Jimmy John. After giving this place a try. I change my opinion completely!!! First impression when I walk in to this restaurant is that you get greeted by a fellow who works there. Friendly and seem like to be a student or something working there! That's a plus, I remembered my good old day. Working for some extra money while attending school and etc. so the service is great. Forgot to mention that the restaurant is very clean and open spaced. With a bunch of Firefighter gears and etc. It'a donated by their local fire station. Always support them who helps our community and save life everyday. Their sandwich is amazing!!! I have to admit that they tasted way better then Any sandwich chain I had before. I got the turkey sandwich with bacon and all the add on you can get! It's delicious! Love Firehouse subs in Fairbanks. I am a reward member and have placed several orders using the app. While there has been a couple times my orders were not ready at pick up they were ready fairly quickly of being there. The customer service has been outstanding. Twice I've had glitches with the app on orders I wanted to place. I was able to call the store directly and able to place an order over the phone and have my reward issues complete at checkout. Firehouse subs in Fairbanks is a busy place and everyone loves the red pickle buckets. You have to be quick to get them. Once again customer service was awesome with their accommodations and I called when they opened and they reserved a bucket with my order. The food taste amazing and the atmosphere is wonderful. If you want fast food this isn't the place to go. If you order on the spot you'll be waiting awhile but the wait is worth it. If you are looking to cut the wait time order via the app or online. This restaurant was welcoming from the start. All the workers greet you as you walk in the door.
