I haven't been to Firehouse Subs before, but my boyfriend tried a sandwich from there before and thought it was great. We happened to be in the area, so Firehouse Subs was convenient and I wanted to try something new. We came in around 30 minutes until close on a Friday night. There were a few customers still eating inside, but it looked like a large party had just left the restaurant. We lucked out not having to wait very long to place and receive our order. The place remained busy up until close as people continued trickling in after we ordered. Customer service was fine. The young woman at the register who place our order was very sweet and friendly. She was also really helpful in providing guidance about their menu. Furthermore, the kitchen staff was efficient. The food came out considerably fast and was served to our table. I went with the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket sub per the employee's suggestion. The sandwich had a generous portion of tender brisket. The bread was toasted and held together well. The Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ was a nice touch. It was such a solid sandwich, and I really enjoyed it. What I thought was particularly cool about Firehouse Subs was the collection of hot sauces. I felt like I was on an episode of Hot Ones as I sampled one after the other from mildest (1) to hottest (10). Firehouse Subs does you the favor of labeling each bottle based on the scale. FYI the bee sting honey habanero was amazing if you're looking for something super chill. Despite it being a 3, I didn't think it had any spiciness to it. It had great flavor and a nice sweetness to it though. I tried Pappy's Hottest Ride in Town BBQ sauce, which was a 10. I loved this one as well! What happened to this place? We have been a few times in the past and the sandwiches were quite good. I order the same every time. A smokehouse turkey hot on wheat. I ordered a M, which was the size of a small. The bread was really squishy. kind of like cheap bread; in fact Wonder bread comes to mind. The tomatoes were non-existent, the lettuce was wet, and the turkey was mostly non-existent. I added the drink and chips for an extra 3.75. I didn't realize it was a super sized drink, who can drink that much? I could have done with a small drink. The chips were stale, one month away from expiration. Terrible overall. So for 1 measly sandwich, a bag of stale chips and a supersized beverage the bill was $20. ( a small tip was included.) Is it under new management? Will not be returning ever. read more

I've tried this place out twice; the first time I had the hook & ladder and the second time I had the firehouse meatball sub. I was not impressed with the hook & ladder at all. The taste was exactly like something I could order at Subway. For $9.99 for a medium sized sub, I really expected more. I thought my first visit was just an off visit, so I tried their firehouse meatball sub on my second visit. The meatball sub also tasted like something I've had at Subway. I came here for diner w/ my brother he a had ordered a chicken salad I think. The parking can be weird, they have 15 min spot parking for pickups in the lot I assume and regular parking as well. My sub brisket meat was really good tender and meaty, but the off putting part was the sauce, I didn't realize how much sause this sub had on it. It was overwhelming. I ordered from Firehouse subs on DoorDash before but when I went in for lunch today, I noticed that their quality has gone down down noticeably, yet their prices have gone up. For a medium and chips I paid $14. The size of the sandwich roll is 10 inches and I wasn't sure half of that was going to be enough. The medium was plenty of food but very mediocre taste for the money, and seemed like they used low end quality cuts and sandwich was packed pretty loosely. I ordered the Italian steamed sub and wasn't impressed - Someone else noticed that the Dijon spread and dressing was a poor combination choice for the sandwich. I thought I should have stuck with the turkey bacon ranch or New York steamer but with the quality I got and recent reviews I saw, I don't think it anything I ordered would have been as good as I remembered in the past. It's a shame because this is the only location around for miles, but I recommend staying away from this location and save your money for a better quality sandwich. Generally, Firehouse delivers pretty good subs. Ingredients taste fresh, services is fast, and there are many bottles of HOT SAUCE available! Additionally, if you sign up on the mailing list, you get a free birthday sub. How great is that?! One of my go-to sandwiches is the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket. It's usually packed with juicy flavour, but during this trip, it was barely warm and kinda skimpy on the veggies. Better luck next time, I guess. Came in here for lunch for first time. A good sub sounded good. Wasn't real hungry but need something to eat. I ordered a small engineer on white bread and made it a meal(small soda and chips). I stopped eating here because of their terrible service. Food is ok but sub is better at Crust or Freshly Baked. Price points are $8-$15 which is also on the high side. I used to go bc of the benefits they give back to the Fire Fighters. I stopped eating here because They gave a free Birthday sub but they took it away because they said I didn't claim it within the 7 day period. I was sick and couldn't leave the house. They gave their customer service rep Shivani who also refused to respond after I asked to reissue the points. That rep ought to get a customer service class as get reprimanded for lack of communication. He doesn't deserve to be in that CS Team. Unbelievable--lack of customer support all for a measly sub! Calling all local engine companies- there's a sandwich that's fully involved in San Jose. I don't actually like to order my subs "fully involved" but I do like saying it. "Fully Involved®" means that the sub is "Loaded complete with mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a kosher dill pickle on the side." Great for some, but too busy for me. I do the LTM but hold the mustard, onion and pickle. Here's one Firehouse Subs tradition that I do embrace: hot sauces. Choosing the right hot sauce on your Firehouse sub from the large assortment is like when Indiana Jones picked out the Holy Grail in the 3rd movie. Go with the simple house fave Captain Sorensen's and you will have chosen wisely. This hot sauce is equivalent to the chick-fil-a sauce on chicken or Big Mac sauce on a hamburger- it is the perfect complement to a Firehouse steamed sub. I also love love love the steaming of the sandwich. This is a point where my wife and I disagree - she likes sandwiches on hard, crusty, jagged, cold and sharp crusty rolls. I like a warm soft steamy sandwich, and Firehouse hits the target. A buddy of mine from Jacksonville, FL jumped for joy when Firehouse locations started to open in Southern CA - I hope they continue to roll out here. This Bass Pro-adjacent San Jose location is 6 miles from my house but the closest to my office is 20+ miles and over a bridge. You gotta fix that, fellas. My wife and I were here over the weekend, and we really liked (almost) everything we had here. We'll certainly be back. My wife had the Pastrami Reuben on wheat bread and really liked it. I had a bite and would be happy to share one with her in the future. I had the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket (also on wheat bread) and really enjoyed it. Pickle spear with each sandwich was nice and crunchy and with great flavor. We had a bowl of chili, which was very tasty. The other side we ordered was the Five-Cheese Mac & Cheese. I opted for the breadcrumb topping, since that seems to be the way they think it should be made. Two issues with this dish. First, the sauce was more soupy than it has any right to be on a Mac & Cheese, and didn't really taste all that great. Second, the breadcrumbs detracted from an already mediocre dish. This is one of the very few times when I did not finish my Mac & Cheese. The brewed unsweetened iced tea was quite nice, brewed strong and with good tea flavor. Other options are wide-ranging, due to the computerized multi-beverage dispenser of CocaCola company products. On future visits, I'm planning to try the Meatball and the Tuna Salad. Employees like to close early. My friend and I came in 30 minutes before closing. All of the chairs were on tables and the drink machine was blocked off by cleaning supplies. There were 3 workers in the front. One of them had gloves on and kept touching his face (thankfully not the one handling our food) They were pretty rude to us the whole interaction.. It was 30 minutes before closing like you're still open. After we walked out they turned off the lights, mind you this is with 20 minutes still open.
