This week, my husband and I were concerned about an upcoming long-distance trip. We'll be driving our 2002 Honda CRV from Maine to Florida... and our car has nearly 350,000 miles on it, and it's been making some odd noises. (Fortunately, during an earlier trip to New Hampshire, our car had needed a repair, and Accomplished Auto was nearest to our hotel. At the time, it was sheer luck that they turned out to be one of the most trustworthy, friendly, and affordable mechanics we'd ever found.) So, during this trip, we didn't hesitate to call them for an appointment, and make the 2+ hour drive from where we're staying in Maine. Accomplished Auto gave us a next-day appointment. That was a relief! Today, by noon, we knew what needed the most immediate attention, and what could be postponed until we get back to Florida. They told me my car needed a lot more than it really did. Their alleged price for parts was out of this world. I asked what their labor rate was and was told they didn't know. The guy who helped me at the counter, and worked on my car shouldn't deal with customers. There were also about half a dozen people just standing around eating pizza. Maybe their high costs reflect running a heavy crew? Came here because I thought it would be quick and convenient. Ended up sucking it up and actually making an appt elsewhere and my car was fixed for less than half Towne Lube Express quoted me. My personal opinion is this is a "drive in" "convenient" state inspection place that feels like once they have your car they have the upper hand. Don't be passive and just accept their quote. Don't be bullied. Now I am VERY curious what happens to this place after January 2026 when allegedly New Hampshire stops requiring inspection stickers.
