Best Firestone location I've ever been to. Quality work, friendly and professional staff, and very easy to get service requests/appointments! I like this location is much better than the one on Pendleton Ave because there's plenty of parking space, and I rarely have to wait in line! Their service here is also much faster, and I appreciate that they always call me before proceeding with additional services. Jason, Kyle and Chris are great to work with and explain service recommendations in a way I can understand. 2 hrs for an oil change?? Insanity. They quoted me an hr and a half at first. Wtf kind of oil change are they attempting to do.

Any on base facility is supposed to be for those with on base access. With a decent deal and honest service. McChord does none of this. Sure we get a military discount and you can use your Star Card. But the prices can be higher than off base and the same when the discount - but the employees seem to be substandard at best. Dangerous at worst. The good thing is the lifetime wheel alignment- until this visit thought that was hard to mess up. But they messed up the steering somehow and had to put it back on. I made online apt for 0800 and they called to change it to 1300. I said fine - I have to be done by 1400 - it was not done - as my mistake was taking a retail agent at their word. Might have been done if tech didn't mess it up first. Sitting here listening to other guests having return trips to fix something is also not a good sign. I had a Jeep for oil change and the filter blew off and they put another on while leaving the oil splattered all over the engine and then dripping on my driveway. I had to bring that back for them to clean. Sorry is great but discounts should be given. This time too but it's free. It is frustrating to wait here. If you drop off it is better. Well, took my car in for an oil change at the JBLM installation Firestone Complete Auto Care and my car came out with damages in front bumper. The Store Manager told me to get a quote and they will cover the damages. After dealing with Mr. Byrd and Coonie Moore from the claim department, they don't want to respond to the damages of my vehicle while getting serviced in that store. Be careful when taking your vehicles to them, and always check your car when receiving the keys back. You will end up paying for the damages yourself, they rather have an unsatisfactory costumer over a $700 claim damages. read more

My Horrible Experience At This Firestone If friends or family were to ask if I would recommend this particular Firestone, regrettably, I would have to say no. Why? I brought a vehicle in for an oil change, the technician didn't install the lift pads correctly and proceeded to raise the vehicle which consequently damaged the lower rocker panel of the vehicle. When I confronted the manager, he denied the very possibility of the incident ever occurring at his shop, citing company protocols set in place to prevent this very thing. Understood, accidents happen but what I didn't appreciate was the blatant denial of wrong doing. Long story short, it took the intervention of legal counsel on my dime, to mitigate the loss. The regional manager, In Bellevue , finally paid out for damages but not until contacted by my attorney. I have not returned to this Firestone, and plan to stay far away. This place is only getting one star bc of the one nice guy that worked with me. Another man there was so unbelievably rude, demeaning, and arrogant I will never take my car there again. I wasn't in the building for longer then 2 min when he interrupted me and the nice mans interaction with arrogance. I came in for a rotation and balancing. That's all. Even though it's says on the building complete auto care, they don't mean it. They probably only do tires and oil changes and very little more. My 1997 Ford pickup needed batteries charged and they did charge them but when I hook one of the batteries up the truck try's to start itself without the key in the ignition. This place won't even look to see why. They probably only want to do simple things. I have to find a real mechanical place to get it done. Don't go here. I don't recommend them. read more

I booked an appointment for my windshield wipers and an oil change on my pick up truck about a week ago left the truck there overnight went there the next day they had it fixed they said $160. Sure in off after 2 hours they broke down. Send it back the next day and said we sorry we will take care of it and then after two hours told me that I needed a motor and an arm the hole system basically, and they wanted $460 bc the first time they diagnosed wrong apparently. I said no bc I want to trade the truck and is not worth it to spend the money. Didn't get any refund but I don't care. Send the truck to another mechanic and he actually told me the pieces weren't put in the right place it was a bit of work to get in to it but he fixed it $120 the windshield wipers work great. Brought my car here twice for the same issue and it's still not resolved. They got the engine light to stop going on and then a week later it pops back on and there's smoke coming from the hood. I've had mostly good experiences with this service center. I've been a customer of this location since August 2010 and have had everything ranging from new tires, tire rotations, and oil changes to rear differential services, brake jobs, and a tune-up. It's conveniently located next to the Fort Lewis Commissary, and it's usually easy to obtain an appointment. They always offer a military discount, which is a plus. The vehicle is always ready when promised and they are good about calling if they find something that needs to be addressed while they are working on the vehicle. The only thing I don't like is that no matter what it's being serviced for, they always give you a lengthy list of "recommended services" when you pick up the vehicle so that you will return for more vehicle maintenance. On my most recent visit, they recommended that I purchase new tires although I purchased a set of four tires from them in August 2010 and the tires are still under a manufacturer's warranty. I wasn't too thrilled when I saw that on the list of recommendations, but I guess the technician who was working on the vehicle didn't check the service history and probably went by the tread measurement. I would recommend this business, especially if you are military and stationed on Fort Lewis. It is definitely a military-friendly Firestone location. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Brought my vehicle in for oil change and brakes. When checking in my vehicle, I forgot to mention I needed new wiper blades, bc the passenger side wiper had a large piece of plastic that broke and dragged. Was quoted 90 minutes for service. 2 hours later, received a call saying they "inspected" my vehicle and that everything was normal and my wipers worked great. Confused, I asked if they replaced the wipers already. They said, "No, they don't need to be replaced at this time." I asked if they even turned on my wiper, because it's very clear the wiper blade is broken. He also said I needed new brake pads. I told him I was well aware and that was the reason I brought my car in and asked if that service was completed. He said "No," because he had to tell me first. Irritated that they had already gone past the quoted 90 minutes, and still hadn't completed the brakes, I asked if they could just hurry because I was waiting and had to pick up my kids. Three hours after dropping off my car, they said it was ready to pick up. As soon as I started my car, it began to idle rough and the brakes squealed like my brakes were dragging metal. Brought my vehicle BACK in and they didn't install the brakes correctly AND broke a vacuum component resulting in the rough idle. Now I am scheduling a service with the dealership to see what else they did (or didn't do) to my car. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even change the oil. NEVER AGAIN. On 11Feb2020, I noticed a nail embedded on top of my tire within the tread. I immediately took it to the nearest Firestone which is on the installation I work. I am an active duty US Army Soldier, female Captain located at Joint Base Lewis Mcchord, Washington State. The woman I spoke with informed me I'd have to leave my vehicle and they would call me when the tire was repaired. 5 hours later, I received a phone call from the same woman informing me that because I had 2 nails 15 inches apart on top of the tread I would be required to change out all 4 of my fairly new tires costing me $867.00. I informed her no, and I would get a second opinion. I then took my business over to Discount Tires around 4pm and drove 25 minutes on that tire across I-5 which is also known as one of the busiest highways in the state. Upon looking at the tire in my presence, the Discount Tires sales rep inspected the nails and noticed one of them wasn't even piercing the tread, it was just stuck between the rubber, meaning I only actually had one nail pierced in the tread. He showed me by spraying a substance on both nails and only one nail began to bubble indicating air had been leaking at that one location. The sales rep offered to repair the tire for free and asked if I could leave the vehicle overnight to get to it in the morning since he had 10 customers ahead of me and the earliest he could take care of it was the morning since it was nearing the end of the day. Since that was my only mode of transportation I said I would just bring it first thing in the morning. I then departed, got back onto the I-5 highway and within about 3 miles, the nail popped out and my tire deflated immediately. I then had to pull off the side of this extremely busy and dangerous highway while the sun was setting and getting dark to change out my deflated tire with my spare. I am very lucky nothing more serious or life threatening occurred during this time. I am very angry by this situation because I feel Firestone put me in a dangerous position that was totally preventable and avoidable if they had done a better job inspecting the tire realizing only one nail was embedded in the tread. Even if there were 2 like they had originally stated, it was still repairable. I find it very concerning Firestone is more interested in my money rather than my welfare and safety, and especially find it extremely upsetting this is how Firestone treats Soldiers. The impression I got from Firestone is they think because I am a female I probably do not know any better and because I am a Captain they assume I definitely have thie money, and just have the audacity to ask me to pay $867.00 on tires I have warranty on. The next morning after my near death experience, I went back to discount tires and had to explain to them what had happened to me. They agreed to inspect my original tire and see if they could still repair it; but I was also prepared to pay for 4 brand new tires since my original tire went completely flat to the rim. Discount Tires were able to completely salvage my original "Firestone" labeled tire and repaired it in front of me. At this point I believed I would be charged, but discount tires told me it was completely free and sent me on my way. This review is for the Firestone located on McChord Air Force Base (there are 2 McChord Firestones listed in Yelp and neither is the correct address). Short version: If you visit this Firestone expect your quoted price to change, ensure the work for which you've paid has been done (verify yourself since the employees will tell you they did the work even if they did not), and expect a vindictive employee to intentionally damage your vehicle if you complain. Long version: I sought 4 new tires for my boat trailer. I stopped at the Firestone on McChord AFB to get a quote. At the counter, David gave me a quote. I contacted another national tire retailer, who quoted me a higher price. I returned to Firestone to pay for the tires in advance so they could order them, and the total David gave me was higher than the quote he gave me the day before. David explained the previous quote had not included tax. This was a little irritating but not a deal-breaker. The following day the tires arrived and David called me to bring in my boat trailer. A couple hours later he called to say the job was complete. Upon my return, Sean checked me out, giving me my receipt. I asked Sean if they balanced the tires and he said he didn't think so. I then mentioned I had been charged $68 to have them balanced and he changed his story, saying they did balance them. When I pulled around to the trailer I inspected the tires and noticed they had not been balanced (no weights attached to the wheel). I returned to the office and found David to explain that the new tires had not been balanced, though I had been charged for the service and told it was done. He offered to refund the charge for the balancing. I stated I would rather they balance the tires (and was puzzled they thought somebody would buy new tires and not want them balanced). Five hours later Sean called to say the trailer was ready. Upon inspecting the tires this time I discovered they had attached hammered-on weights to the inside and outside of my chrome wheels instead of using the stick-on weights I would have expected on a chrome wheel application. I asked Sean if they usually use hammered-on weights on chrome wheels and he said they do. Additionally, the weights they used are not the plastic-coated weights that should have been used to prevent marring the surface of the chrome but the old uncoated lead weights that will corrode and leave a mark on the chrome wheel. Personally, I think the worker that had to remove all four wheels again to balance them used the ugly, uncoated, hammered-on weights instead of the hidden stick-on weights on my chrome wheels simply to show his displeasure. According to Sean, it is their standard practice to use hammered-on weights on the outside of all chrome wheels so if that is the case, don't take your nice wheels to Firestone if you want to keep them looking nice. read more

UPDATE: Today I spoke to the regional manager of Firestone and got a resolution. The manager of the McChord Firestone has been fired and hopefully can make way for a better atmosphere there. Although that wasn't my intent atleast something happened. The regional understands that the pre-purchase inspection is flawed and needs changes and that the leadership at that store and the Fort Lewis one is toxic and needs help. The guy seemed very genuine and I'm happy with the talk we had. Time will tell if it actually meant anything but I'll keep my eyes open for it. Regardless I still suggest everyone learns to perform their own maintenance on their vehicles, it will save you tons of money. Abysmal experience here. DO NOT take your car here for any reason. Was trying to get my car sold that is in great mechanical condition with very low miles and potential buyer wanted a prepurchase inspection. No problem they requested Firestone so we left the car with them. 2 hours later we come back to a list of repairs costing over $1500 that they apparently told the potential buyer the car needed. In reality the tech put every service he could think up on the sheet leaving our buyer with the understanding that the car needed all these repairs or it would fall apart or not run. In fact when I called the buyer back to see what happened she had left with the impression that "the car was held up by plastic" are you serious? Bottom line this shop preys on people that don't know how cars work. Had I not been there and known that the whole list of repairs was complete bs the buyer would have thought we were trying to screw them over with a messed up car and my wife would have thought we needed to pay for a huge repair bill on a car we are trying to get rid of. The company should be ashamed that they push techs here to recommend all these be repairs and the techs should he ashamed that they're OK with doing it. Never again will I spend a penny at this or any other Firestone and I will tell this story to any other person I hear considering taking their car to one. I set an appointment over the phone for 0930 the next day, stipulating that I had to be out there by noon as I worked in the afternoon. I was going there to take advantage of the 10% military discount. My truck was not put on a lift until 1130. Upon finally finishing, I was presented with a list of issues that prevented them from "checking" my alignment. One slightly loose inner tie rod end and a loose pitman arm. Steering is tight and there's no slop in the wheel play horizontally or vertically. I am going to replace all my tie rod ends, pitman and idler in my own garage and take to my local Firestone for alignment check. I was also told my shocks needed replacement due to rust (not on the piston shaft). Finally, a week later I discover the spare laying in bed of my truck, never reinstalled under the truck...I was never informed of this and now will have to wrestle it myself. These guys suck. I do my own oil changes because I'm not lazy. Well I tightened my drain plug too much on the last oil change and rounded of the bolt trying to get it off. These guys are the closest car shop to me so I brought it to them to loosen the plug. They said they couldn't do it and I had to get a full oil change. What really pisses me off is that I asked for new drain plug and they put the same one back on. I wasn't billed for the new plug but my rounded off plug is still on the oil pan. Idiots. Update: after a pointless call to Firestone I called the Dupont Jiffy Lube. For a minimal shop fee they will swap out the rounded plug and let me use MY OWN OIL AND FILTER (something Firestone would not do). My preconception that Firestone would be more professional than Jiffy Lube was dead wrong. read more

I wish I could give this place NO STARS. My elderly mother has been doing business at this Firestone store for some time. Several years ago, I showed her on a spreadsheet that I felt she was getting ripped off. She continued to go there. Early this summer, someone at this store told her she needed to get her engine cleaned so they could see if she had an oil leak. She complied to the tune of close to $100 at another auto repair place. Firestone then told her they needed to add some dye to her oil to find the leak. Then, approximately 2-3 weeks ago, she was told she needed a new oil pan and gasket which would cost about $950. That's when she called me. I told my mother to spend a few bucks and get a second opinion. She talked to 2 other repair facilities, and without looking at her car, told her they would fix it for a little less than Firestone. I had even told her to have one place send me pictures. No go. She finally took her car to another place and they found no leak worth replacing the oil pan/gasket. They did, however, find a small leak at the drain plug. New drain plug - $10. Plus they sent me pictures I sent Firestone's Customer care an email expressing my displeasure. I was told the store manager would contact me. He called my mother instead of me! That was unacceptable. I was contacted 3 days later by another store manager on behalf of the Area manager. Quite evident I wasn't even worth a phone call by the Area manager. So, the poor person I talked to got my wrath. I have also advised my mother to NOT go back to ANY Firestone store for anything. It was convenient to come here for an oil change since I got off work.. but do I regret coming here. Came in for an oil change and came out with my airbox missing a screw, parts of the airbox damaged. Came back home opened my hood and I saw the tube was not even snapped back on. I called and came back for an explanation and no apology for my safety and for what happened to my car. I asked for a new airbox and I was told I'll get a phone call back when it will arrive. I'll be waiting for that phone call. I'm just in shock on how you could close the hood not knowing the airbox was not put together? I wonder and question if they even add the right oil and even change the filter? I advise everybody to avoid this place. I have been going to this location off and on for the last 15 years or so. In fact, I have been coming here since this place first opened. My most recent visit last week had me shopping for new tires. I have always had excellent customer service from all the workers here. My service technician (Darryl) was very good and I ended up getting four new tires, a front end alignment and new wiper blades all for a little over $400! As stated in a previous review, Darryl is honest and upfront about the service and charges. He recommends what service could wait a few thousand miles and what service should not wait. I was in and out here in less than two hours....very efficient place. I highly recommend this location. P.S.- The best part of this location is the proximity of the Base Exchange. The McChord Exchange has free Wi-Fi, many couches and televisions to watch, a food court, shopping and barbers. I have nothing but good to say about this company. The front counter people always greet me as soon as I walk in the door. I have been to four different Firestones in two different states and this one is by far the best. I have only had one problem since going to them and they corrected it the next time I came in. They did it without any additional charges. The manager, who I think is Daryl, has always been upfront with any repairs that need to be done. These guys are absolute crooks. I had a flat on my truck and brought to them. They changed it to the spare but then told me the tire was not repairable due to sidewalk damage. They said they marked the tire on the sidewalk where it was unrepairable. Actually, it had a screw in it and was completely repairable. There was no sidewall damage and Discount Tire repaired it and sent me on my way. And they did it in 30 minutes as opposed to three hours. They just wanted to sell a guy in a bind a tire because they have a base monopoly. The reason they couldn't repair it was probably because they didn't rebuild the TPMS sensor and it doesn't hold air without doing that. This is my second bad experience with this auto repair shop. They put 10w 30 in my 2008 tundra instead of 5w 30 and where about to do it again if I hadn't researched the issue. They tried to continue to use 10w 30 even after I told them to use 5w 30. The service representative couldn't find the invoice in the system for the tires I bought from them or the lifetime rotation and and alignment services. I had to call another Firestone and have them email me the invoice to prove to him that I had already purchased these services.
