I read the mediocre reviews and still gave this place the benefit of the doubt. I had a flat tire and brought it to this location (nearest me). I dropped it off yesterday morning for a tire patch and rotation. Over 24 hours later I have my car back. In true upselling fashion I received an email with all the things I needed to fix on my vehicle. I called for more details and one of the items they wanted to charge me for (listed in the email) my car doesn't even have. I talked through prices of various things and was given a total price. That price didn't match the prices for individual things we had discussed and I guess it is on me for not clarifying because I was surprised when I picked up my vehicle. I thought I had approved a $45 purchase (for the individual thing), but my bill ended up being over $300. They put the spare tire back in my truck upside down, didn't put the latch on because they "couldn't find it" even though it was literally right where I told them it was. My truck also has built in storage, but they couldn't be bothered to put that back. The cherry on top of the experience was getting into my vehicle and all my tires needing air. read more

Warning just don't go to Firestone they talk a good game but they don't really know what they're doing on cars

RUN! I will never use a Firestone again after my experience here. I paid for front brakes (at a higher rate than other places, I should have done my research) two years ago. There was infrequent noise but I was told it was likely from moisture, and it would go away. Finally it seemed even worse and I brought it in. I was told they likely had used inferior parts and that there was debris, but that the brakes would still be functional for thousands more miles. Three months later, my brakes were grinding and I took my car in for them to replace what they had admitted was a faulty product. Instead of apologizing, Matt told me I had to pay more money to have them replaced, and insisted they were no longer under warranty. I stood my ground and said this was a faulty product, he had even been there three months ago when I was told they shouldn't be functioning like that in the first place, and that they needed to replace the brakes, which now also needed new rotors. Instead of doing the right thing, he raised his voice and told me to leave the store. I will never go to a Firestone again. Side note, when they looked at it three months ago, they misplaced or broke the piece that holds the mud flap to my car, and decided to use a zip tie to attach it instead. I only noticed when I got home.The entire piece later ripped off my car while I was going down the freeway. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION. I had a flat tire as I was going into work downtown. I noticed this location was close, so I stopped in to get it quickly changed instead of calling AAA to put on the spare. I should have called AAA... I was told (by a very rude man) that I could not change only one tire and that I instead needed to spend $1600 to change out all four, and "apply for Firestone Credit Card if you would like." I asked why I couldn't just change out one tire and was told they wouldn't do it, I had to go elsewhere. WHAT? It's not your car, it's mine - and if I don't want matching tires, I shouldn't need to get matching tires. To have the employees say they won't do it - what was I supposed to do? Stay stranded downtown? I had no other option. As a woman, I'm used to being treated like this when it comes to car mechanics, but it's not okay to take advantage of a situation, bully and swindle. read more

My Ac went out on the hottest day of the summer, got the earliest appointment a few days down the road, because it was close to where I worked and thought I could kill two birds with one stone. I was promised a call when it was done and that it would be completed that day. Then, come 4pm I hadn't received a phone call. So, I called them and was told "I could just pick it up tomorrow and that they didn't have time to fix it." January 10th, I had gone to Firestone to get an oil change since I had no time to do it myself. Long story short everything seemed to be fine until now working on doing my oil change today (03/16/2024). I spoke with Matt (Manager) letting him know that my fiancé is working on doing my oil change and noticed my oil panel plug was pretty snugged to unloosen. Then after letting the oil drain out to then put the plug back it was just turning and not tighten up what so ever. Matt claimed since we go multiple places (which were ONLY Firestone this time and just us usually doing it) and having my oil change done that there is no way he decipher, if it was his guys or us. Since I am sure when they were working on oil change on Jan 10th they would've noticed that plug not being tightened at all and would've said something to me to get more money out of me BUT they didnt at all! If they are so called certified at there job someone would've said something. Which if it was us we would've gotten it taken care of right away especially if something happened it will ruin my engine. So Matt said there was nothing he could do about that since there is no proof which even if we were to bring it into Firestone to show them they wouldn't be able to do anything but rigg it with Teflon or some kind of compound to make it tight, which is bullshit! We are VERY VERY pissed about the outcome and Firestone not wanting to take any responsibilities on their action that occured on Jan 10th. Hence that there are MANY MANY bad reviews about the Firestone (off Hanson blvd). Which like I stated I never had issues years ago before but by looking at reviews now they've gone down hill! All they want to do is screw people over and don't give two shits if they fuck up their vehicle... because heyy... they'll come back and have to pay more! Nice money pit on them! 4 star service for things like fluid changes. I can't comment on more involved services like new tires. For fluid changes, service was spot on albeit a little pricey. But if you are the area and need a fluid change then I'lld go here. While they do accept walk-ins I recommend scheduling in advance. This way you ensure your car gets looked at. read more

Droppped my car off, knowing I had brake issues as I stated on my appointment request that my service brake light was on. When I arrived at the store to drop my car off (I had a 12pm appt, but needed to drop it off before work). I filled out paperwork stating that they would do inspection and call me with repairs needed. A few hours later I get a call from a staff member and he's reading off serveral repairs that they "recommend". I know fixing a car isn't cheap but the prices here seemed to be WAY higher than any where else. When I said "that seems to be way to high" he dropped $200 off right away (which kind of triggered he probably thought I was an easy target) and said he can make it work for the lower price which still seemed too high. I told him I needed to call around and would call back. I got quoted (for the same repairs he read off to me), $500+ less from 2 different shops. So I called back, same staff member, I told him I decided to go with a different shop. He very aggressively kept asking me how much the other shops were asking for. I told him "a lot less than what you are charging", he asked me 3-4 more times until I told him a dollar amount. He then, rudely said "good luck with your warranty" & hung up! For someone asking me to pay almost $2,000 for brakes (& other minor things they "recommend"), you shouldn't talk to me rudely or hang up on me! Horrible customer service. Makes the whole shop look bad. When I told my mom & coworkers how I was hung up on (especially after telling them the price), they were shocked and disgusted as well and reassured me that taking my business elsewhere was the right thing to do. Being hung up on immediately made me want to leave work to get my car. The fact that the salesman was so rude and hung up on me because I declined the service, made me feel uneasy and very uncomfortable leaving my car there. When I picked my car up, they left it in the back parking lot of the shop with the doors unlocked. Glad I left work early. Super unprofessional. I didn't leave my car there with the doors unlocked and my locks DO work. I was able to get my brakes fixed and running flawlessly (with all the things they "recommended") for almost $700 less AND I got a lifetime warranty that they weren't charging me $200 (Firestone's price for a alignment warranty) for. If only I could let Jerry (the salesman who hung up on me) know. Overall I'm not impressed. read more

I got an oil change here, and they told me that my brake pads needed replacing. The clerk told me that the pads were less than 3 millimeters, however, when I replaced the pads, the old pads had 7 millimeters remaining. which means, that I was lied to by the Firestone clerk. This has been my only experience with this shop and i hope there is never another encounter with this fraudulent shop. They are liars. read more

RIPOFF ARTISTS. Took advantage of my 20-something daughter, probably in partnership with the tow company. My daughter's car wouldn't start after visiting a client for her job. Instead of trying to jump her car first, the tow company took her to this shop, even though it was farther than the shop she asked to go to. Firestone then sat on the car for two days before performing additional services without seeking approval first: a fuel system cleaning ($130) wiper blades ($43), computerized engine analysis ($99), and coolant flush ($150). What should have been $200 or less for a new battery ended at $660. RIPOFF! read more

It was my first time in the market for new tires. Special ordered tires online and chose this store for delivery and installation given their good ratings (plus the online tire store recommended them). I must have come on a bad day because my experience was horrible. The manager did not know how to charge for the installation and had to call his supervisor. The manager also said he wasn't supposed to give me the invoice of the tires I purchased (luckily he found them and gave them to me at the end cause I needed it for the mail in rebate!). His associate then tried to pressure me into purchasing lifetime wheel alignments without even checking if my car was out of alignment. No one was friendly, no smiles. And to top it all off, they didn't wipe off the white lubricant they used to shimmy on the tires. Completely unprofessional - I should have gone to costco for better service at a better price :( read more

I work downtown so I use this facility due to it's convenience and I can save on parking. They can usually do short notice appointments, and have always squeezed me in when I've had a tire issue - nail, flat, etc. Their tires are expensive - mine are coming due to I priced them vs Sam's and Costco. Maybe not a totally fair comparison but let's just say that you would save more than an annual membership fee even if you joined the clubs just to get the tires. Tires are not things you purchase often so a big price difference makes a big difference. read more

Honest and serves the customer. I was on a road trip from Chicago with first stop in Minneapolis. I had my car inspected before leaving town for road worthiness. While in Minneapolis I notice the rear of the car was making clunk and thud sounds over rough road. I call on Saturday afternoon at 2:30PM. Matt the service manager freed up time to check out my car and had the problem fixed before 6 PM. He found the rear sway bar links needs to be replaced. He called the Firestone in Chicago and learned they failed to find this issue during the checkup. So Matt replaced the sway bar links at no cost to us. After I dropped off my car, I was concerned that I might be ripped off. After all, I was 400 miles from home and at the start of a road trip, he could have charge me a thousand dollars for safety issues and I would have paid for them. But Matt was honest. He went above and beyond to take care of my car. If I live in Minneapolis, this Firestone would be where I will bring my car. read more

I normally stay away from big chain auto shops because they are almost as expensive as dealerships, but they matched the price of a set of Firestone tires on sale elsewhere, and I figured I might as well get my Firestone's from Mr. Firestone. Harvey Firestone would vacation with Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, and they were members of an informal group they called "The Millionaires' Club." With all the talk today about the richest 1% and the other 99%, I wonder what tax bracket these guys were in, and what percentage of their wealth they donated. Things I didn't like: - They said it would take an hour but it took a half hour longer. - Scare tactics. While Parents Auto had told me a week earlier that my front end was a bit loose, Firestone said it was so loose that the tie rod could break off while in flight, and then the whole wheel would come off on the freeway. Things I liked: - Nice clean spacious waiting area with TV and wireless. - Seemed to do a fine job. - Friendly and professional. - When I came back a week later with a screw in a tire, they tested it out and found it wasn't leaking, put it back on, and didn't charge me a thing. - It's fun to put your toddler inside the stacks of tires. read more

Fantastic place!! I have had oil changes at Firestone for twenty years. I had a Honda Accord so rarely needed service. I believe I only went twice. My next car only has 35,000 miles. After replacing an engine cover/gaskets and brakes at other places, I went to Firestone. Today, I had the best experience I have ever had with a car repair. I was told by the two other places my tires were in dire need of being replaced. I went to Firestone and was met with honesty. Finally, a car service place not trying to rip off a woman without a car background. The manager was honest with me. He measured the treads and told me I did not need to replace the tires yet. I only have 35,000 miles. I will definitely be going to Firestone when I need to replace my tires. The honesty I was shown today made me a lifelong Firestone customer. read more

This is a specific review for the Hawthorne Ave, Minneapolis location. I have had very medium experiences with this particular location for years. However, recently, the negative experiences have far outweighed the positive, and I would strongly caution against using this Firestone location. I came in for an oil change. They changed the oil, put the wrong oil in the car (standard rather than high mileage). They also told me that I had a cracked coolant tank and that they replaced the tank and the hoses. I paid for these services. A few weeks later, we have an overheated engine with coolant having splattered all over it. We bring it to another Firestone location whose employees tell us the hoses were improperly attached, and that there was absolutely no sign of anyone having recently replaced the tank. First very fishy, very inconvenient, potentially dangerous mistake from Hawthorne. Second, around the same time, our oil light comes on (big problem!) and we have to bring it to the nearest Firestone immediately, which happened to be the Hawthorne Ave location. They looked at the car, said there was absolutely no oil leak, and that everything must have been fine. We paid for another oil change. Next day, oil is pooling under the car again. We bring it to another Firestone location (we have a Firestone card, which is why we were committed to this company) whose employees speculated that a second change may *never have been actually done* and that the first change at Hawthorne was done very poorly, as it was leaking out of the oil plug and the oil filter. Second *very* fishy, very inconvenient, potentially dangerous situation. I'm not sure whether these were genuine mistakes or perhaps we were lied to on multiple occasions. Regardless, would absolutely not recommend. read more

If you want to overpay, come here. Had my focus in for an alignment. It needed a tie rod, which I knew. Somehow it cost more than twice as much for the exact same issue with my BMW at a different shop (with Porsche trained labor). They charged $200 for labor for a part that takes 5 minutes to change. When confronted, the manager rambled on about oil changes and never addressed the question. This is kind of slam operation that gives all auto repair a bad reputation. read more

Tom Riesdorf and the whole crew at this place are competent and professional, and they are dedicated to customer service. I've been taking my fleet to these guys for about half a million miles, (in 5 years), and i have seldom seen a mistake. When there was, whether it was a squeaking brake pad or an oil change that took a bit longer than expected, Riesdorf and the gang quickly put it right. I've brought everything to them: a 77 Ford Ranchero, an 81 Mercedes Diesel, a 93 Mercedes, and an 09 Camry Hybrid, with no complaints. What a trial it must be to work as a mechanic: 9 out of 10 customers just assume that you're crooks. Close to the same number is driving cars that have considerable issues that they are willfully ignoring. It is the job of a shop like this to explain that the problems you're neglecting that are going to cost you more in the long run. Driving is not free. It's not a right you get when you get a title transferred into your name. If you don't want to maintain your car, maybe you should buy a bus pass. The fact is, these guys fix your car and do it right. I've bought lifetime alignment on my cars (costs a little more than 2 alignments), and every time they do the alignment, I never have cause to think of it again until the next time the car is due. Then, we put it on the rack as a matter of course. Yes, they are simply that good. They saved me money on my tires. They explained why I could use the mid-grade tires but never tried to upsell to a higher price tire when the mid-grade would do. They understood the factors that matter to me (rain shedding, protection from hydroplaning) and made recommendations accordingly. Frankly, it is a bit sad to see the negative review from another user. I'm sure she's a nice person, but to expect to bring a 1973 Nova in for an alignment and have it turn out right the first time without discovering the need for additional parts, I think that's a bit outrageous. To bash someone's business with the lowest score for not meeting an unreasonable demand shows a shocking lack of sensitivity to the many good workers who even offered to redo the alignment to the best of their ability given a 35-year-old car whose history, I would imagine, is unknown. Straight talk, here, ladies: many women display this lack of knowledge of cars and then think that mechanics who explain the facts of their situation are simply trying to rip them off. Upon expressing to the mechanics that they do not appreciate being ripped off, they wonder why they have a bad experience. Well, you just called them crooks or incompetent. They had the battery I needed for my Dodge Ram and got me in right away and put the new one in for me. I couldn't pick up my truck until the next morning and they kept my truck in their heated garage all night until I picked it up the next day because it was extremely cold out. Last night my car was making a crazy clicking noise and having a hard time turning. I drive quite a bit and need my car, so I freaked out with it being Christmas. I called this place since its only a block from my house. They were open and ready to handle any problems I had. My front axle shaft was broken and they fixed it while I was at work and I picked it up in matter of hours. I recommend you check this place out. I was a huge Firestone fan until I came to this location. I have had several less than acceptable service experience here. (1) I had my spark plugs replaced here and they broke the spark plug coil. I picked up my car and it was miss firing. I brought it back and had to argue with them about what was causing the miss firing. They treated me like a dumb woman until I explained how the whole spark lug assembly worked.... They then agreed to replace the part for free. (2) I brought my car in for an oil change, to get burnt out break lights replaced, and get a safety inspection. I specifically mentioned all three services when I dropped my car off. When I picked the car up, they had performed the oil change and allegedly the safety check but didn't replace the brake lights or note that they were burnt out on the safety check. There was even an idiot light in the dash on saying which specific lights were burnt out. They replaced the lights while I waited, which took a while. On my drive home, they light burnt out again. Once I got home and opened my trunk, I realized they put the plastic on around the light incorrectly. After taking my car to a different service center I learned that the lights burnt out immediate because they were the incorrect voltage. read more

This is the most honest and friendly auto shop I've ever worked with. Every time I'm there, the apply coupons to my account that I wasn't even aware of, they also inform me of any issues with my vehicle and the level of immediacy to fix it. Last week I told them I am moving to another state and they did a full check for me and told me I have a small problem that wasn't dire and have plenty of time to fix it. I was provided an estimate so I could plan for the expense and because I'm moving they are fully aware that I may not be getting the service done with them. The first time I ever had my oil changed by myself, I paid Jiffy Lube $80 and I felt it was a rip off at the time and since then I have had a hard time trusting auto shops. I am really grateful I found this Firestone location when I moved to Minneapolis. read more

I would not recommend this place. Very condescending and arrogant front desk manager Craig Banwell. He was very argumentative (twice about the same issue) and told me that "his technicians know what they are doing" contrary to what my issues were. BTW: I am still having the same issue. He installed a part that was not necessary. When asked he stated rather rudely " It was approved by National Accounts" . So what ? It was not necessary and it did not fix the issue. He is very unprofessional and only cares about profit. Not the customer. I have told all of my employees not to go there anymore. My fleet employees are no longer allowed to go there. If Craig feels like this is the way to treat customers (Male or Female) he needs to go thru a training on how to provided acceptable customer service. His rudeness, arrogance and condescending ways are unacceptable. read more
