Nobody enjoys spending several hours and several hundred dollars at the mechanic getting their car boringly and routinely maintained, but Matt and Larry sure do make the experience so much more pleasant. I had just had a dealer inspection and was told I needed 4 new brake pads pronto. I didn't want to pay for all the dealer's markup, however I am relatively new to the area so I didn't want some local budget garage I had no personal experience with either. So I knew I needed a reputable, nationwide chain, something I recognized from back home. Firestone proved to be the best choice. I started off with their free basic brake inspection. Here, I'm taking a star off because I had literally just come from the dealer the night before, a few hours really, and done no excessive driving or hard braking. The dealer told me all 4 rotors could be resurfaced, but Firestone did try to sell me 2 new rotors due to heat damage. I was able to figure out it was only "recommended for maximum safety and efficiency purposes" and the heat damage wasn't that bad fortunately, and saved about $180 there. I always expect to be oversold on parts though, so wasn't anything unusual or really pushy. From there, we went ahead with 4 new pads and rotor resurfacing (which it drives and stops wonderfully, so made the right choice this time). Larry showed me I was able to save a little still, even though my car didn't qualify for a coupon I'd seen online, so that was nice. The full service was a little over 5 hours. Good thing there's restaurants and other things nearby! Ended up camping out at Panera with some coffee and wifi for my laptop. Once we were wrapping up, I went ahead and got a quote for 2 new tires because I know the car will need them within the next month or two, depending on my driving, and definitely before the rains return. I am planning to come here, specifically this location, for my 2 new tires and road hazard warranty! Larry and Matt are both really friendly and welcoming. They'll even talk to you and frequently acknowledge your presence should you be camping out in the waiting room while your car is maintained. I never write reviews on yelp, but Larry treated us so well I feel its the least i can do by sharing the experience...long story short we had work done on our mini cooper by another location to the tune of 1600$ and were treated wrongly so a friend told me to come here and because of how well this manager runs the location. I recently went to Firestone because I was close by when my car dash showed my tire pressure was low. After standing under the "free tire pressure check" sign (with several employees walking past me without acknowledgement) for about 7 minutes. I went inside to speak with a salesman. After telling him what I needed, he said, "no problem " wait by your car and someone will be right with you. After waiting another 10 minutes watching employees and the salesman walk by me a saleswoman walked by and asked a technician to assist me. I watched and heard him refuse her. I thought to myself, I only need some air in my tire. I left without the assistance. I went to a gas station and put air in my tire. I believe the poor treatment and attitude of employees to coworkers and a potential customer would not improve after a sale. When I need tires for one of my vehicles I'm going to their competitor a half a block away. I suggest you do the same. read more

I went to this location because i notice the low air in my tire light on my dashboard was lit and I just purchased new tires from another Firestone store a little more than a week ago. I walked in to an empty store. I waited a good 15min before I was greeted by an employee. This employee (I wish i could have gotten his name) lacked customer service. He asked "what can i do for you?". I began to explain that the low tire sensors on my car tell me my tires are low on air. I just bought 4new tires from another Firestone store and i was hoping he can check the air pressure or maybe the sensors. The Firestone guy let out a long annoyed sigh and stated that "it will be 4-6 hour wait". I was told him that there are only 2 cars here and it's only 9:30am, i have to wait all day for this. I gotta go to work. He than began to look agitated and said "you should take it back to the Firestone store that did your tires. Because if it's the sensor that's the problem they can order our another one". It was clear to me this person did not want to help me. I paid good money to Firestone to get these f-n tires plus i paid for the lifetime warranty on the alignment and the paper work it states i can go to any Firestone location and get this b*llsh*t serviced and his guy is brushing me off. So i left this Firestone location and drove to the other one i got the tires from in canoga park and they checked everything i asked and it was done in the 10 min i was there. I live in Lake Balboa, and there is a closer location to me, but I saw the 5 star rating and had to see for myself. I was not disappointed. I met with Raquel, who gave phenomenal customer service. I got 2 new tires, and my front brakes done. I didn't feel like I was being pressured and Raquel and the team were honest. That's the most important thing. 5 stars worthy indeed! I have lifetime alignment with this place and was suspecting that they weren't aligning correctly. I've been having a really loud humming noise coming from my wheels whenever I drive around 40 mph. I took my car to another mechanic in the valley to get tires installed and they aligned my front tires telling me it was really bad. The humming noise I was suffering from for almost a year is gone. I recommend getting alignment somewhere else. read more

If I can give -5 I would give it to this service place. I brought my car for simple oil change it took them over 5 hours to finish the job. When I brought the car back after couple of days I noticed slight shaking in my car and heavy oil leaking in my garage. I immediately took my car back to firestone. They took an hour to tell me that they did not put the filter right, that way it was leaking. They changed the filter clean up spill area and refill the it. As an apology they gave me free next oil change card. At first I decided to not to go back there ever. After 3 weeks I went for few days out of town leaving my car in garage when I came back I took my car out to warm the engine that's when I notice oil leak was still happening. This was not good feeling for 50K miles well kept car. So I decided to find reputable service place from yelp and get it fixed. Sure enough other guy find out issue with filter and gasket ( smashed not worn out). If I have time I would sue firestone for wrong doing. read more

I'll be giving up my regular servicing at my usual dealership where I've just never felt the same. But let me note that his is not the closest Firestone to my home. I have had 5 of the lifetime alignments on my vehicles and have been to 3 firestone locations in my time just for credibility's sake. I brought Larry 2 of my vehicles so far and has not disappointed me. I am quite picky when it comes to things regarding my vehicle and like to do the work myself, however, a proper alignment is not possible in the comforts of your garage. I brought my truck recently and it was not an easy task because of it having a slight lift, it starts throwing off some of the specs and the computer alignment does not apply for the caster any longer. It took a lot longer than expected, but the more impressive part was Larry's dedication and experience to make sure I was taken care of. He personally ended up working on the truck and even went on over hours. After a good 8 road tests and check after recheck, he sent me on my way with his assurance of quality. I wasn't the easiest of customers coming back after driving down the road when the wheel wasn't straightened and yet Larry was still giving me grade A service. Recommended location. read more

Hoped that the guy I talked too checked the screw on my tires before giving me an estimate for a new one. His immediate response need to replace the tire, dont take the screw out dangerous. Thank God I went to Mountain View Tire to have a 2nd opinion and I dont need to replace my tire at all. I saved $200!!! -- updating my review, after I spoke with Firestone. The guy I talked too seems nice and helpful. I was informed also that they need to follow certain procedures in their company which I understand. I go to this place every time I need something fixed on my car. Best customer service of any car place I've ever been to. You feel like you're dealing with trustworthy people and not some sketchy car dudes who are trying to rip you off. Often times, if it's something small, (i.e. brake lights, tire pressure, warning lights) they'll do it for free and send me on my way in minutes, just because they enjoy having me as a customer. Ok, so here's the run down at this peach of a location, I come in asking for break pads because my pads are at %20 in my 335i BMW .... here's the conversation..." "hey there I need an estimate for rear break pads on my beemer" firestone employee " that's gonna be $700 dollars " I said " I only need rear break pads " firestone employee " well, we don't just install break pads , with our service we always have to add rotors to our service " me" well what if my rotor specs meet the requirements and are unnecessary " firestone employee " these are our rules we don't just do break pad service " me " this place is a joke .... dear firestone, you guys have a big company. firestone I thought was a good name, after this experience I wouldn't bring my bicycle here, you don't have to up sell every single guy or gal who walks through the door ... so I go down the street and pay $249 for break pads service, the company I chose to go to checked my rotors(as all company's should) checked the specs on the computer (of course to make sure my rotors were up to par) and then installed my pads ... took about an hour and a half ... thanks firestone for helping me explore all my other options:-) read more

I don't have to change my tires as often as I go out to eat at a restaurant or go to the movies. But I like these guys. They seem to give me a fair deal as they will match prices. (Check TireRack.com and DiscountTires.com before going!) Their lifetime alignment is a great deal (maybe $120 not sure, it's been a few years and prices could have changed.) and I take all my cars there for it. I've got a Jeep that I take camping and off-roading and that lifetime alignment has saved me a lot of money over the years. Thanks guys. read more

The only reason they recieve one star is because of their customer service. Mechanic service....TERRIBLE. I initially took my car in a month ago just for an oil change. Tell me how the general check was good...and a couple of weeks later my alignment was Sooooo bad. I take my car in for alignment wait and hour and half and they say I'm good to go. One week later, my alignment was pulling to my left insanely! So, I take it back... I waited two hours and my car is now pulling to the right. To add to this my car has been leaking oil and when I take it in I'm informed that the transmission seal is broken and that's why my oil is leaking. I wonder how long that "problem" was there and how they missed it the first time around. Long story short, I will never ever take my car back to any Firestone. This was the worst experience I have ever had and people warned me of this place but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Never again! I wasted my money at this place. read more

I love this place. It's where I go to keep my Tahoe in shape. Unlike a lot of people, I do regular maintenance and don't wait for things to start smoking and squealing. Lawrence and all the guys are great. Sometimes I leave my car , sometimes I wait. The customer service is why I keep going back. They keep the cost down. I can roll in just to get air in my tires. They keep track of warranty schedules and let me know what's coming up on my maintenance schedule. I had a big issue with the tire pressure sensors and yes, I spent a lot of time waiting for them to try and fix it- some things are just difficult to fix. They told me to go to the dealer service dept- NEVER AGAIN TO RYDELL! Talk about wasting time and being overcharged and then they broke the valve stem, which didn't show until my tire was completely flat on a Sunday morning and Rydell is closed. I had it towed to Firestone and Lawrence fixed it for free. You might find a free diagnostic somewhere, but I'd rather have a local spot to take my car on a regular basis where I know I'll be treated well and they take care of my car. It's better to have 1 place that knows my car, then shuffling around to several places, always chasing a "deal." They have coupons for oil changes and brakes and a credit card with no interest when you need things like a set of tires or a big repair. I like the hours and the fact they're open 7 days a week. The waiting area is clean and big, with a TV and coffee. No place is perfect 100% of the time, but this location comes pretty close. read more

This Firestone is awesome! It's fairly difficult to find a trustworthy mechanic these days but low and behold I have found one. Juvenal is as good as they get. He was honest and extremely helpful in understanding my needs. Juvenal was not the only employee I interacted with. The others were also very nice and approachable. Even though my car is fairly new (less than 10k miles), I will be getting all of my car maintenance done here. Having been a mechanic in my earlier days, I'm not one you can try and persuade to get more stuff done than necessary but I didn't even have to worry about being haggled for more of my money at this place. I had a problem with noise coming from my rear brakes. I took it to a couple of mechanics to get estimates. Every mechanic I took it to had a different opinion, including the dealership. All solutions to fixing the break noise were wrong. Add insult to injury all charged me to diagnose the problem. On advice from a friend, I finally took my car to Firestone. They listened carefully to what I was experiencing and diagnosed the problem for free. Just want to say thanks Firestone and a special thank you to Raquel the associate who took care of me. We were driving back from LA to the bay area when a bed sheet that was loose on the freeway became wrapped around our axle. Firestone was the nearest place we found open and upon entering Lawrence (Larry) was very professional and sympathetic to our dilemma, our time and the fact that we were extremely stressed out. He fixed the problem as quickly as possible and sent us on our way. We can't thank him enough for saving the day and putting us all back in a happy state of mind before our long journey back. Worst place to have your car serviced had my tires balanced and rotate found out a rim was bent instead of selling me a new one they stuck in the rear of car where it would not be noticed. Well next time I went in could not rotate tires cause of the bent rim they want to leave it in the back simple solution only the tires are not wearing out evenly. That could have been fixed had they just told me go else wear buy a new rim we can put it on and continue service here no they leave me with a bent rim in the back and hope I never find out about it like I did when I changed it else where. Had I kept going that tire would have been left in the back forever or until something worse happened to it, my car, or my family! Thanks but this place really stinks! read more

I called this Firestone to check how much is the lifetime wheel alignment. The representative Giovanni told me its 179$ and I can come to have it done. I rushed myself and drove to the shop. When I get there he told me that I didn't know that the car is Bmw. So he transferred me to the manager and the manager told me that for Bmw or Mercedes it's usually more than 179$. To make the story short instead of 179$ they want to charge me 389$. These guys are crooks. Be careful with this kind of business tactics. If the service depends on what car you have, they should have asked that first even before giving a price. Firestone-balboa-come on. I called different firestone and they said its 179$ regardless what car it is. Be honest man. The commission that you get is the money you feed your family. Have some dignity. There are a lot of ways to make money-but not to screw someone. read more
