I had break pads and rotors changed in June 2016. In 2017 whenever I applied beaks while driving in reverse I used to hear a grinding noise 50 % of the time. I took it to Firestone in West Roxbury. They told me that a bolt had fallen off. The current Quincy people are incompetent. I have changed break pads and rotors many times in my life mostly at the Quincy store. I had a rapid leak in my tire that I noticed while driving on I93 on the way to the cape. It was clear that I needed a new tire. Instead of convincing me to buy a tire that didn't match my others, the service guy offered to put my spare on for free. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. When I tried to give the attendant and then the service guy cash- they refused to accept it on two separate occasions! I am impressed and very grateful for the kind treatment. read more

When I went there I had just gotten my car inspected and it easily passed. All I wanted was the discounted oil change they had advertised outfront. After they had done my oil change they charged me an extra $20 because they said I needed a coupon even though the sign outside did not mention it. Apparently, the greedy lowlife owner installed cameras so that s/he can tow cars away within minutes! Since I live close by, I had considered using them for service. Comfortable atmosphere, and I don't get the feeling from them that they are trying to put one over on me. The manager, Dave, really knows how to treat a customer. Fair prices, and they always apply various applicable discounts without you having to ask. You are usually in and out, and if there is a wait, it's usually short. The majority of the staff (though there are exceptions), is approachable, service-oriented, and happy to treat you like an appreciated customer. Here's the negative, I've had a problem that I've been back 4 times for. While I honestly believe they were trying to solve the problem, the bottom line is I ended up getting charged for things that didn't need to be replaced. I had all 4 tires replaced, and the next day 2 of them were low. What proceeded was a mad rush to replace things and charge me money (although they did work with me on this prices) to fix something that wasn't a problem before I got the tires replaced. Bottom line - This is not the place to go if you have TPMS issues. They admittedly go against their own public-facing, written policy of replacing a TPMS kit every time a tire is dismounted or replaced. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence that I've had tire and sensor problems after getting 4 new ones, but they definitely didn't do this as their policy states they must, and one staff member was defensive, dismissive, and argumentative about the fact that they didn't do it. I guess the real test is - will I go back here after I have experienced these problems? The answer is yes. Not overly impressed. Had a good first experience but the second time was not so great. Completely tried to rip me off and add a bunch of unnecessary items to my bill. Also told me I had to pay to have my brakes fixed which they had just done brand new themselves less than two months ago. Totally felt like I was being take advantage of and sat in the waiting area and watched them do the same to everyone that walked through the door. If you're looking for a place to be shamelessly ripped off for services you don't need for your car, this is your place! I brought my car in to have the heat looked at last winter because it wasn't working consistently. They told me, among a range of other issues, that the heat wasn't working because the radiator was broken. Altogether they said it would cost $1,200 to fix the heat. This seemed outrageous to me, but what do I know about cars? And that is exactly the reaction they are looking for. They're looking to take advantage of people who trust their expertise. Thankfully, I wasn't buying it, and made an appointment at my usual mechanic (I had only brought it to Firestone initially because it was a Sunday). I brought it to Friends Automotive in Holbrook, who informed me that my radiator was NOT broken, and that the issue was with the vent/blower resistor that was not working properly and the heat was not making it into the seating area of my car. Grand total to repair my heat, which I NEVER had a problem with again: $100. Firestone attempted to overcharge me by $1,100, insane. I later spoke to the manager, after all of this was said and done, who was respectful and seemed genuinely embarrassed by the situation, but they are not trustworthy. Even if I broke down right in front of Firestone I would happily pay AAA to tow my car elsewhere for service read more

Absolute joke this place is. Went in for new tires and a subsequent inspection sticker. While I was waiting they asked if I would like new wipers. "Sure, if you think I need them." I get the invoice and they charged me $80 for wipers. Obviously that's a little excessive and I clearly would've just bought them somewhere and put them on myself if they were going to charge that much. Got a rejection sticker for a sensor code that no one could explain to me, but they offered to give me an explanation if I gave them more money to look into it. I had the problem diagnosed somewhere else and brought it back to Firestone. They were going to charge me over $500 to replace the bank 1/sensor 1. I opted to bring it somewhere else that charged me $200 less. Brought the car BACK to Firestone to have the inspection sticker put on and all of a sudden they come up with another problem that wasn't mentioned in the first visit. A bulb on my dash was out. Doesn't have any bearing on anything and I looked at the inspection sticker from the year before and that wasn't even a requirement. I brought it to the place where I had my 02 sensor done and they passed it and said, "whoever rejected this is a f*cking idiot." I couldn't agree more. I went in to get an inspection sticker at 1pm and they told me they would call me when it was ready. They called me at 5pm claiming I needed $500 worth of items that needed to be fixed. Not to mention, when I told the gentlemen on the phone never mind I'll take it somewhere else, he then claimed all I needed was a light bulb. What they didn't know is that I just bought the car from my father and our mechanic just went through the car in detail and everything is in working order. I told them I just needed an inspection sticker and to please just get the inspection done. I showed up there at 6:15 because I needed the vehicle and they told me it would be done in a minute. Finally, it was finished at 6:45. Almost 6 hours for an inspection sticker and a bunch of over priced repairs I supposedly needed. read more

Just having a really awful experience. Brought my 06 Acura TL in to fix the emergency brake. They told me that my rear brake pads and rotors needed to be fixed. I said ok, but when I got the car back the emergency brake was even worse. Not working at all. So I bring the car back and they say it just needed to be adjusted and they fixed it. I get it back, again the e-brake is not working. The lever is tightened, but the car still rolls back on an incline. I call them again, no apologies or anything, they say just bring the car back in. After this issue is resolved, i'm not returning ever again. read more

I broke down Friday after leaving work while waiting for the tow truck driver I had someone quickly take a look to tell me what they could see was wrong before getting towed. He said it is something with the fuel pump. I was towed to Firestone on Sunday got there about 10am explained to them what I was told and they than did their testing. After sitting for some HOURS and also noticing my hood was up and open but no one seemed to ever really be under my hood working on it I decided to ask what the issue was. I was told its my fuel pump and it needed to be replaced also the fuel pump has a component that needs to be replaced as well (I thought that would be part of the fuel pump itself and not considered separate) anyways.... I tell him I have a fuel pump from before that was taken out and tested and it works fine of course he didn't suggest that be a good idea so I end up buying a whole new fuel pump and the so called "component". What's the damage I ask $960.00!!!!!!!! to replace a fuel pump and the "component". Wasn't happy with the price giving that I have had fuel pumps put in before (due to every mechanic before this not finding the actual problem on why I was blowing pumps) this price was beyond what I expected. 2:30pm comes around my car comes out and he drives it around a little he then makes his way to the cashier counter with a look that made me think "what now". I come up ask him some questions he informs me that he has fixed the fuel pump but there is a piece that I need (harness wire) that's causing me to blow not only this fuel pump but the prior fuel pump. He actually found the problem but tells me they don't make my car any more and don't make the parts so he can't do anything for me. I then ask o.k. is my car drivable no need to worry about breaking down etc....?? Not exactly he says the harness wire is old and needs to be replaced soon. He says as long as you are driving you should be fine if your running into a store or some where for a quick minute leave your car running. He said it could not start but all you need to do is go under your car right under back door area and wiggle this wire (as both he and I get on the ground under and he shows me) and your car should then start. I couldn't believe this was the service I was giving after spending almost $1,000 and the main problem wasn't only not fixed but was told YOU have to go look for your own part and also find another place to put it in for you. I couldn't even find the part and bring it to him and have him install it b/c Firestone rules and regulations (BS). I was told they cannot install any outside parts. I left in disbelief that I just dished out all that money and the problem wasn't even fixed. I started the the car I told him my engine light is on why? OOO it could be just the fumes and stuff it should go away after driving it for some time.. Driving my car home it started to violently kick back especially in stop and go traffic every single time I press on the gas its never done that before even at 60 mph I can feel it kick back a little. It feels like its gonna give out on me. Engine lights still on and the car drives worst than it did before it broke down. I did order the part but its gonna take some days to get shipped until then I'm hoping this new fuel pump doesn't blow before I can get this harness wire and even then I have to find some one trust worthy to do the work. I am more than disgusted with the work done by Firestone on School st in Quincy. I called corporate office put in a complaint have a file # and currently waiting to take this further. I left there driving an #1unsafe care and #2 no effort by the mechanics to fix the MAIN issue #3 over paid. I don't think there is a need to contact the shop itself b/c the customer satisfaction should of taken place at the time. I should have never received my car back with out it fixed especially the issue!! They had the chance to show good service and failed. I unfortunately have to drive my car to work (27 miles there and back) and every day Im crossing my fingers and praying to god and kissing the break down lane that I make it.. I am a single mom and can't afford to just hand out money for a rent a car to put my car in a shop for days and have bills to pay so I need to make it to work and take my children to daycare. I will never go back and recommend you don't either. I have gone to this particular location quite a few times over the past 10+ years but this Firestone location has gone way down hill in my opinion and I have been an employee in the auto repair industry for 18 years I know my stuff. #1 Major no no with me is don't lie to the customer don't ever bait and switch your verbal estimates. I brought my Mustang to in and asked for them to diagnose the noises my suspension was making well driving and to call me before making repairs with an estimate. So they call me back later that day with their diagnoses of what was causing the squeaks and clunks in my suspension along with a recommendation of replacing my front struts along with the rears and swaybar links the whole 9 yards of my problems. Guy on the phone tells me my bill is $800 to repair the rear suspension and recommends I replace front struts and swaybar links also, so I ask him how much my total bill will be with everything said and done and he tells me $1200 for everything I tell him sounds great go ahead with the repairs. I go into pick up my car and the same guy that told me over the phone $1200 tells me my bill is $1926.00......My jaw dropped I told him thats not what I was told over the phone and he says to me that he gave me 2 seperate prices $800 for the rear suspension and $1200 for front suspension but me and my wife know for fact what he said over the phone I asked him for the total with front and rear fixed and he lied straight out. Thats no good for business I am gone and anyone I know in the car industry I will recommend else where. On top of it all I still have the same noises I brought it in for, my car steering wheel shakes at 65 mph after they gave it back so I have all the same annoying squeaks in the rear and clunk in the front and I spent $2000 on 4 sway bar links, some bushings and 2 sets of struts, no overlap deduction on any labor repairs relating multiple parts being replaced in one sitting. For example if the book charges 2 hrs labor to replace a strut and a swaybar link is in the removal labor procedure for the strut to be removed you shouldnt be charging full procedure labor if replacing the swaybar link with the strut and so on. Same goes for any other parts being replaced that require the link being removed in order to remove the next part its called overlap and if its not deducted you are being charged for the prior labor procedures 2-3-4 X over again, get it?. Another thing I bought new tires from this location a year ago and at the time I got a flat from a nail in my tire I only had the tires about 9-10 months they had a year warranty so I patched the tire myself with autozone kit which states on the package to patch the hole and have the tire replaced and/or serviced with professionals I took my car to firestone and they told me that if its not leaking i dont need to replace the tire and they dont need to fix the tire with proper patch I really dont think those diy patches are meant for the life time of the tire thats why it says on the package to have the tire properly repaired later and I told them I do alot of highway driving I dont feel I can trust it but obviously they just did whatever they could to talk me out of my warranty and the tires they sold me are on their way out its only been a year I dont speed or beat on my car I should get at least 2-3 years out a brand new tires my word. Last complaint for now I also own a Navigator I had this location Firestone replace all 4 tires brand new, after a couple weeks I notice the tire getting low with a slow leak so I had the mechanic at Herb Chambers check it out since I worked there at the time it was very convenient, anyway come to find out I had to replace the rim cause whoever replaced the tires "Firestone" smashed the crap out of the backside of the rim when replacing the tires and cracked it causing it to lose air. So $250 later I have a new rim that I didnt ask for I asked for just tires. They did this to the other 3 rims also but not as bad as the rim that needed replacing. I would give zero stars if it were possible. One month ago we brought our son's car in for 4 new tires, and an alignment . They said the car needed a new tie rod as well. We had all the work done and just brought the car to our mechanic to replace the exhaust. He said the car was so corroded it wasn't worth the repair, the springs were about to come through and the car was essentially unsafe to drive. He said who ever did the repairs recently was "completely unethical" given the shape of the undercarriage. The work should never have been done in the first place. STAY AWAY! read more

I've been to this specific shop a few times and recently, their service was horrible. My car didn't pass inspection and they ordered the wrong parts. Had to keep my car extra days and still did not fix the problem. I took my car to another repair shop and they confirmed the work Firestone did was worthless. Stay away from this place. 10 years ago my car was leaking power steering wheel fluids. I went to Firestone and after paying $300 and drove the car 10 min to home I see a fluid leaking in my driveway. I went back to them and they told that is transmission fluid. I do have some knowledge of those things and I can recognize the different of transmission oil and power steering wheel fluid. I confronted the mechanic and ask for manager and ask to have the car up to see where the leak was coming from. In front of me, the manager tells the mechanic that he had used low pressure pipe instead a high pressure pipe that should had been used on the power steering wheel. But he tells me that I need to pay again for the repair. I left and ended up buying a new car. 8 years later they had winter tires on sale. I needed new winter tires, so after 8 years from my first bad luck with the Firestone went there again. As I was ordering the tires I was told that the tires I was ordering were not on the sales list. I had to show them the flyer and the type of tires I wanted. They gave me the sale but as a "favor" to me. Lately my car had a recall and the dealer that fixed the recall also told me a few things I needed to fix and gave me a price ( dealers price) . I thought as was time to change my tires also fix my problems at the Firestone. Firestone came up with 2 time the price the dealer gave me plus asking for things that dealer said are OK. I asked not to do the repairs. I went home to pick my wife to drive the car back home. As we get to the parking lot I see a tow truck in front of my car. Went in for an inspection sticker. Was told my windshield wipers needed replacing and it would cost $45.00. There was nothing wrong with the windshield wipers. They put a rejection sticker on it. Went and got windshield wiper blades at Wal Mart for$15.00. I'll do it my self. They are ripping people off telling them they need things they don't. First off let me say that for 7 years I lived in Quincy and never had any real issues with this Firestone. However, I have since moved to the North Shore. As my nearest Firestone don't do state inspections I took it back to Quincy in May/June as I was going to be in the area and asked them to do my oil change and tire rotation at the same time as the inspection. Jump to this month and I go to my local Firestone for my routine oil change and tire rotation and the lug nuts are so corroded that they have had my car since Saturday and I won't get it back until Wednesday. Because of the damage caused in trying to get everything off to rotate the tires it's going to cost me almost $2000. I was told by them that they didn't think Quincy had done the tire rotation like they were supposed to as it was the worst case they had ever seen. As you can understand I am so furious. My new local branch has actually given me a $400 discount on the bill but that doesn't excuse the fact that I am still going to be charged almost $2000 for what was an avoidable issue if someone in Quincy had actually done their job not just properly but actually done their job at all. Anyone who says this location is honest has no clue!!! I had the worst experience ever and will never go back. They tried to charge me $596 for a tune up and an inner coil (which go for about $80). They told me I wouldnt be able to drive it without doing both. I went down there, paid my $106 diagnosis fee (for someone to hook it up to a computer) and DROVE IT to a reputable mechanic. I paid $275 for my full tune up and was informed there was absolutely nothing wrong with the inner coil. It's one thing to overcharge for parts and labor, it's completely another to lie about work that needs to be done. My car has been driving fine. My roommate had a couple of terrible experiences too and said the mechanics really dont know what they're doing. I wished I had asked her before I went there. If they think they can take advantage of you they will. This doesnt even include the aggravation I went through where they said they would look at my car right away on a Saturday at 1pm and had me sit there for 2 hours (I saw them drive it in the garage at 1pm) just to come back and tell me they ran the $25 electrical test and couldnt find anything, and it would cost me an additional $99 to diagnose the full problem. Then they called me at 6pm to tell me they couldnt diagnose it as it was an older model. So late monday I finally get a call back with the answer. Really?!?! They couldnt just look and tell it was the spark plugs?!? If you have money to burn and too much time on your hands, then try this place out!!!!!! read more

This place is the biggest rip off I have ever dealt with. The manger of this location has no business being in charge of anything. I brought my truck here with some engine problem. In the end all I needed was a tune up. They tried to charge $1500 dollars for work that didn't need to be done. Then wanted to add another $3000 for a new transmission that didn't need to be replaced. They kept me there for 5 hours to change some spark plugs! This is by far the worst experience I have ever had in any auto repair place in my life! The manager did everything he could do to get a total of $4500 out of me when all I need was spark plugs. Thankfully I know enough about repair work to see this place for what it really is. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I will never allow them near anything of mine ever again. To make matters worse the manager became aggressive and condescending when I asked questions about what was going on. Called the corporate office they say they'll look into the situation. I brought my car in for a high mileage oil change. Previous when I have done this they give me a list of all the maintenance my car will need to keep running well. I typically ask for a courtesy check and did so this time. 2 1/2 hours later, they said they topped of my fluids checked my tire pressure. I asked if anything else was wrong, they said my windshield wipers could be better. When i got home, my fluids were NOT topped of and my tires were not checked. I called the manager and explained that i had a hard time believing they checked anything else when they didn't actually do the two things they said they did. I explained i wanted my car checked, things such as the tire iron rod (what ever they are called) that hold the wheels on, i wanted to make sure they were not rusted , ect.... The manager said bring the car in I will check it myself. I did bring it in, after they looked at it. They guy, not manager, said we topped of your fluids and checked your tire pressure (which just to add they did not top of power steering) I asked if they checked the tire things (still don't know the exact name). The guy, i do know his name, but will leave that out, said, well a courtesy check only covers fuel injector and belts. To check things like the tire what ever would be an extra 20 dollars. Which fine what ever it costs, I do a lot of long distance driving and the whole point of me bringing my car in was to have everything checked, whatever it costs. That being said, that is ridiculous every other time i have brought my car in for an oil change i get a list of items needing maintenance. My husband brought his car in, no problem, that is what he received. That is their whole motto, keep your car running newer longer........ Well firestone has wasted enough of my time, i will bring my car else ware and pay whatever to have my car checked. I will mention previously i have had to have my gas tank replaced and they have done a good job.
