Being as this review is about 6 months long over-due (Apologies as I was out of the country), I have to say that Jennifer and Sam have always been extremely helpful, honest and fair. This review is about Sam's handling of my mom's tires. (I have been coming to this Firestone for years - with my own car and Jennifer has been amazing). Based on my recommendation, I advised my mom to get her new tires at this Firestone location as I have a long history with them. Jennifer wasn't working but Sam handled this visit. He got me a good deal on a brand new set of tires (out the door with an alignment). Although the car was not finished on day 1 (there was an calibration issue with some of the sensors as this tire was new to market and they couldn't find out why the sensors where not working properly), Sam was able to get my mother a rental car, figured out that the new tires were the issue with the sensor, upgraded the set of 4 tires and honored the same price as the lower set. It was really appreciated and the tires from what I've been told are still not causing her any issues. (People working in the auto industry, repair/maintenance and towing never seem to get enough praise. I equate it to visiting a dentist. No one is ever happy to go see them, always over-protective of the work that is being done and extremely sensitive when the work is finished). Jennifer and Sam have always been forthcoming, fair and do their best to help out whenever they can. I appreciate this location and will continue to have my auto needs done here. read more

Motorhome people read! Just left after having problems with a tire valve. Most places seemed not to have room for a motorhome to pull in and not worry about turning around. This place has plenty of room to turn around and a drive though the back that I was able to get through with my 31 ft class C. My hubcap was also put on too tight and another place(s) didn't have the wrench size. Firestone did, and put on my needed extension at no charge plus they did it right away. Then a got a quote to put in my new "in the tire long metal value stems" and it was almost half the price of another place. While the other places I checked were all nice the guys who fixed it, I wish I got their names, were great! read more

10/10 would NOT recommend. Very unpleasant and troubling experience. Where do I even start.. I scheduled an appt to do the car care inspection.They kept my car for three days for a job that is supposed to only take a few hours. VERY UNORGANIZED AND INEFFICIENT !! In the three days I did not receive a single call regarding the progress and updates of my car. So each morning I would call them- the phone would ring for 5 minutes and no one would pick up. I had to call 6 times before someone finally answered. In the time being there, they had told me that my battery was needing to be replaced and pushed for me to get it done,but I was surprised because I've had no trouble with my battery at all. So I denied that service.When I came to pick up my car, the battery was completely dead when I tried to start it. I had them jump it and it began working just fine again for the rest of the afternoon . Later in the day, I had someone from a different company come out and check my battery and it tested in great condition... haha . Odd They gave me a list of recommendations of things to be done to my car- altogether costing over $2500!!! I am a young woman who knows nothing about cars! I already know how easily I could get scammed at auto shops. So I held on to their recommendation list but declined any services at the time (mainly because I can't afford that!)And after revealing the false battery information, I couldn't be more happy that I declined all of the other things that were "wrong " with my car! read more

Most people don't understand cars. That is why everyone is trying to find a "good" mechanic, meaning a mechanic that wont rip you off and will do a job right and to the manufactures spec. I find it entertaining when guys that change tires for a living try to tell me what I need. These guys can't even quote me on how long it will take to align my tires. The manager will lie to your face hoping to keep you waiting so that you don't take your business somewhere else. He will not give you a straight answer no matter how direct you are with him. It is simple, just take your car somewhere else. There are millions of places to buy your tires and and get an alignment. Why go to this Firestone? If I am right I have saved you some frustration, if I am wrong then you will wait somewhere else no worse for wear. read more

Ripoff. I randomly blew out my tire today, so I put on the spare and went to get it fixed asap. First stop firestone, never used them before. I didn't take a look at my tire size before going in so, me and one of the reps went out and got it. My two options for the 255/55/17 were $217 and $196. I used to have 22" wheels on my truck and would get toyo proxys up the street for $200 including balance and install- ripoff. I wasn't going to bother negotiating as that just turned me off this store completely. Went up the street to discount tires, $108 out the door with tax, balance all of it. I went to this particular firestone for the first time planning to get my brake pads changed as well as my oil. The staff did their job just as their regional manager or other higher ups would have wanted them to. Up selling as best as they can with out crossing the line. You have to understand that there is an extravagant amount of over head costs in any business. Rent, payroll, disposal charges, equipment, utilities, and the list goes on. In order for these hard working team members to get raises and provide for their families better, the shop must hit a certain amount in sales. This is why up selling and suggestions are so important for them to do. Otherwise they don't make nearly enough money to be compensated for their hard work and time that they put in to help serve the community and their vehicles. If you ever ran or owned a business you would understand. I had a budget when I went here for what I knew I needed. They up sold and suggested things as they should, but I declined. Its your job as a consumer to know what you need and its their job as a business to make as much as they possibly can. So if you are on a tight budget and only need the bare minimum make it clear to them and they will work with you. I had a minor concern about my fees and was turned over to the manager Jackson. After explaining to Jackson my needs and budget he completely understood and did everything in his power to accommodate my needs. I was very pleased with the service and i'd have to say he is doing a great job managing such a tough business. Thank you Jackson for everything. I recommend this business to maintain your vehicle efficiently with out any hassle. And make sure you speak with the manager if you have any issues so they can do everything in their power to work with you and make you a satisfied customer like myself. I've only been here for oil changes so I can't comment on the poor reviews about their mechanical work. I've been going to this location for over 5 years. With the Firestone oil change coupon, it's a great price and it comes with a free tire rotation. They have always completed the oil changes within 30 minutes, but I've also gone to them after I dropped my sons off at school in the morning so there's hardly any wait. They've always been super nice and friendly to me. In the 5 years I've gone here, I've never seen a disgruntled customer. My husband brings his car here for oil changes and so does my mother. We've all had the same, great service here. You should see my other Yelp rating for the Firestone on Hillcrest (the one at the mall). Now, that's the place I will NEVER go back to. read more

The day after thanksgiving was horrible for me. My car wouldn't start and the Roy's Towing driver who was dispatched to help me was wretched. From the moment I called Firestone they were nothing but amazing. They assured me they could take a look at my car and if it was one of 3 things they could do it before they closed. Once I got my car towed to them they took amazing care of me including replacing my battery and making the whole situation painless. Jen (oh I hope that was her name) and Sam (the manager) both talked to me like a human being and not a stupid girl which is all I can ask for when I go in for car troubles. Start to finish I could not have asked for anything more. I have found my go to shop for general repairs. Thank you Sam for having a heart and having an amazing staff. Unexpected things happen to our cars; flat tire, dead battery, alternator goes bad. Shit happens, and it makes people days instantaneously go bad ( even worse on Sunday ). How often though in those situations you just happen to have a replacement part in your car, usually never. I am out in the Thousand Oaks area visiting my fiancée and my alternator just goes bad. Recently replaced with a new one and happened to have my original still in the cab of my truck. The original I had was in proper working condition, just wanted a new one on my own accord. What's aggravating is on a Sunday I had to elect to tow my truck 27 miles home and pay $200 in over-tow. Only because this shop refused to install the original part and wanted me to pay $350 for parts/labor on a refurbished. The alternator itself for a new or refurbished run from $100-$150 for the basic 140amp. The top aftermarket stuff runs $175-$400 for 225amp heavy duty alternators. Install time is 10-15 mins, it's that easy. So easy if I had an air ratchet gun that is required to tighten the alternator pulley, my lady could have done it. It's literally as easy as loosening the tensioner, removing 2 bolts that hold the alternator, replacing it and tighten. No idea where you get your labor or part pricing from, other than its clearly out of your ass. Shop that usually works on my car wouldn't even waste the time to bill me. Why I towed it 27 miles and paid the over-tow, it was cheaper. That's fucking sad, and management should be embarrassed. Someone needed a simple 20 mins, would have paid you $100-$150 just to do it. Even more embarrassing when your techs have no work and are twiddling their thumbs. For those seeking a shop, I would avoid this place unless you seek being ripped off. Customer service and management is one of the worst I have come across, couldn't imagine their quality of work is any better. read more

I am not a happy camper. Not a good experience. I had a set of 4 tires shipped to this location. I called for an installation appointment at 11am and was told it would take two hours. That was OK:I figured I'd get lunch and come back. When I came in, they told me between two and three hours. That was less OK, but I accepted it. I hung around for 3 hours and then manager told me the end of the day: 6pm. I complained but went home. At 6pm I went back and they had not even touched the car. They had wasted my entire day! The absolute worst. Years ago, the service was horrible but after a friend told me they had gotten better I tried them and indeed, for awhile the service was ok. It is now back to being absolutely terrible. Yesterday, my daughter brought her car in at 11:30 for a 12:00 appointment to have the brakes done. Around 4:30 she called to see how it was going and was told "it will be done closer to 6:00". We went there at 5:45 to pick it up. It was in the exact same spot she had left it! THEY HAD NOT EVEN LOOKED AT IT!! The Service Manager kept saying "I was going to inspect it". She also said "I had to take a bumper off another car". What does that have to do with anything?! I've been taking mine and my daughters car to the Firestone in Ventura for the past 12 or so years and their Manager Dale has been a trusted advisor to us on everything to do with our cars. They work with complete integrety. I've been to 6 different Firestone's from the San Luis Obispo area, Santa Barbara, Oxnard and Ventura (where Dale's at). I now have found a 2nd Firestone that works in the same integrety as the Ventura location in Thousand Oaks at 1100 E Thousand Oaks Blvd. The manager there's name is Matt. He and his crew are absolutely awesome and now I have a trusted car advisor closer to my job. Yesterday as I drove on the 101 north bound my car suddenly started to overheat. I called Dale @ the Ventura location and he called Matt at the T.O. location and had him waiting for me and they took my car in immediately to figure out what the issue was. Turns out the clip off of my hose to the coolant had slipped off and the coolant all squirted out, which caused the care to over heat. Most autocare places (including the other Firestones I've gone to) would have charged me for all types of stuff. Matt's team had it fixed in 30 minutes at no charge and had me on my way. Matt talked me through being freaked out thinking it was going to be something big and expensive and continued to assure me it was going to be OK, and it was. Some sort of road damage to my tire, found a flat when I came out to go to work in the morning. Put on the spare and waited until 9:00 to go in and found out I was actually late, never occurred to me they would open at 8:00 on a weekday. For $20 I was out of there in 30 minutes. Matt could have told me I needed a new tire, and I wouldn't have had any choice, and certainly wouldn't have known if a patch would have done the trick. But for just $20 (how do they even pay their labor for that cost?) I was rolling and hardly even late for work. They even put my spare back in my trunk and the jack and wrench back in place. One of the only auto repair places open on Sundays. I went in because I was having problems with the handling of my car when braking. I fully expected to replace my front brakes and rotors. Firestone identified my problem as an alignment issue which is a much less expensive repair. I appreciate Firestone's honesty and integrity. Last Sunday I scheduled an appointment for today, Wednesday. I didn't get an email confirmation for the appointment. However, the email "in process" indicated that if the appointment wasn't available, Firestone would call the customer back to schedule a better time. They had Monday and Tuesday to call back but didn't. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone who tries to make an appointment on line as they're simply unreliable. I have a lifetime warrantee on alignment, meaning I can take it any time and get aligned. Its a total scam, I don't even think they do the alignment, but they give you a laundry list of problems you have with your car all of which they want to do. I am lucky one of my employees does all our maintenance. Its so ridiculous most of the items requiring attention are bogus. last time we were told we needed new front brakes and rotors at a cost of hundreds of dollars. when we inspected the brakes had over 50% life left. This place is way over priced, not only that they don't communicate between each other's as staff, got a call that my car been diagnosed when I got there it's a different story and that they haven't touched it yet and at least couple more hour after 6 hours at the shop. Word came in that my car needs a new ac clutch compressor , $1200, whatttt??? Yes, that's what they quoted me $502 for Labor a 3 hours job, seriously?! Parts they quoted me $467 witch I bought at oreilys for $292, wait for this, they required that I should change the filter drier if I wanted to get the warranty with the clutch witch will cost me another $58 for part, but guess what oreiley has it for $18. I honestly was disbelieved when I got the parts and couldn't believe how much they wanted to charge me and how many people fall for those outraged over priced parts and labor everyday. Got my parts at oreilys and got the job done at American tire depot for LESS than half the price all together. We all work hard for our money, and even if you don't , don't let them rip you off just because we don't know anything about mechanics or because we don't question the bill. Also it only takes few minutes to call local competitive shops to ask for a quote, I am glad , honestly, I found mine. read more

When trying to fix, what I thought was a minor problem with a head light, turned into a bigger problem. I first went to Pep Boys and they sold me a bulb, but could not fix the problem. they sent me to Firestione, up the street. When i came there it again was not an easy fix, but they were determined to help me. The Sales Tire Manager, Kiimberly Carrillo was not only sympathetic, but extremely helpful. When the part was not the right one she ordered me the correct part, put it in a few days later, and went above and beyond caring and being helpful. I drive between Orange County and SB often and had gotten some repairs done at the firestone at Costa Mesa and have not had the best of luck with that store (brake work done twice in the past month there and continue to tell me that things they notice don't need to be worked on even though they break a week later see my review of that store if you wish) however thank goodness this firestone was more diligent and customer oriented to make sure that when I leave my car will actually survive the roads. Leon was beyond helpful in making sure that my anxiety over almost crashing on the freeway was settled and because of the issues offered to cover the costs. The manager told us it would take a few hours and asked one of his employees to drop us off at home instead of waiting at the shop.
