The food was really good, we had a dinner party of five, had both of the ramen dishes, Bombay chicken pot and Shanhai dumplings. He took a moment to find our tastes and then made several suggestions, which were FABULOUS! We started with the Brussel Sprouts in a sweet sesame and apple sprinkle. This is my second time eating at First & Main. The first was for lunch, and then dinner tonight. Can I give 6 stars?! Lunch was amazing. The service was first class. The interior and the ambiance is trendy and spotless. The staff was on point! Our water glasses were NEVER allowed to go below half full. They left us a carafe, we were very capable of filling our own glasses, but these guys are next level when it comes to service. The food is absolutely phenomenal. This was our second time to this restaurant. my husband ordered his entree on the recommendation of the waiter. we had. o alcohol. Two dinners and desert. The bill was over $100.00. We were planning on walking down Main Street after our meal. As soon as we got out the door, my husband said his stomach was not well, he felt the food was bad and that he was going to throw up. We quickly walked to the car. We were able to drive a couple blocks before he started vomiting. so violently he could hardly catch his breath. It was all the food he had just eaten. It is the definition of asian fusion. They have so many different types of asian food and it works so well. The place is beautiful and the ambiance is great. It is in a good spot in downtown turlock. The whole restaurant is decorated tastefully and very well done. It would be perfect for fancy occasions. The staff was very attentive and polite. Our waiter was really on top of refilling our water. I drink a lot of water. I ordered the tokyo ramen and the bombay chicken clay pot. The tokyo ramen was good and definitely the best you'll get in town. It wasn't the richest flavor ever but you can tell it's well done. The ramen has a perfect "tamago" and the pork belly was tender. Two suggestions, make the pork belly slices bigger, and somehow make the broth more rich. The bombay chicken clay pot is basically butter chicken but it is SO creamy and flavorful. It comes with a side of basmati rice. I definitely recommend both. My friend got the korean stone bowl which is basically bibimbap and he loved it. It was very tender and flavorful. We also got the shanghai dumplings which were also fantastic. The BBQ buns were awesome. The buns were steamed well and the pork was tender. One thing I wished though was that it was more of a tradition chinese char siu pork instead of the typical american BBQ flavor. It kind of tasted like A1 sauce was drizzled on top. However it was great. The price range is reasonable for the ambiance and service and style of food. I would definitely come back. Great food and a large menu for whatever anyone is craving. Unfortunately their service wasn't the greatest despite us dining during a very empty hour. We sat at the bar and it took the bartenders about 5 minutes to greet us because they were too busy talking with waiter and their friends who were visiting. You can make reservations with them through Resy, which can be found on their website. There are 3 seating options - dining, lounge, or patio. Things to keep in mind: most of the items can be eaten family style. Your food will come at different times, so order things that everyone can enjoy and share. We ordered mainly Indian fusion dishes - samosa, paratha, Bombay chicken, and tandoori short ribs. For dessert we ordered espresso and Vietnamese coffee alongside their coconut creme brûlée and fresh milk and cookies! The modern aesthetic is very enjoyable. Let me start by saying that every single thing we've ordered has been absolutely delicious. The cauliflower, in particular, is probably one of the best things I've ever eaten (ordered it 3x now.) The burger, Brussels sprouts, rustic potatoes, Korean bowl...all phenomenal flavor and so different than anything else is turlock. Now. The bar service is absolutely lacking. We tend to sit at the bar and have been disappointed every single time by the bartender. The craft drinks taste delicious but damn, the service. We have had to flag him down for our first, second, and third rounds AND to place our food order. Then, before we are even halfway done with our entree, the other bartender brings us our check lol like....what?? Didn't ask if we want another round or dessert, just like "ok here ya go, leave now." . They are lucky the food is good because we will keep coming back but man! Edit to add: the foh manager (that's just my guess as to her role) apologized and gave us a round on the house. She's very sweet and we truly appreciated it!
