Yup I admit I use to skip class to come here to get lunch. Galileo was just a block away so since I had TA before lunch I get an extra hour to eat. This place had very good beef over rice. Lox and coffee. Both worth their weight in gold. Their Lox on an everything bagel had jalapenos. I never would have thought to add this myself, but I can't imagine this sandwich without it now. The bagel was extremely fresh - enough to force me to brush my teeth again before work. The coffee was excellent as well. I walked by several coffee shops on my 1 mile trek to get my lox, but it was well worth the wait (and the walk). Hidden gem! I stumbled upon this place after moving to the block about four years ago and I couldn't live without it! It's a small family run business with delicious food and lovely service. Breakfast: Best fresh squeezed oj I've had. Get a breakfast sandwich on a croissant or one of the pre-made ham and cheese croissants if they have any left. Lunch: Korean BBQ burrito. I get mine spicy with kimchi and jalapeños. It's huge and flavorful and you won't be disappointed. You order at the counter, and while there are a few tables and high bar seating, I usually take my food home or to the park at ft mason (just a block north) if it's a nice day. It isn't open for dinner or on Sunday's (which I respect - these awesome people need a day off!) and it can get a little nuts when the high school across the street is on lunch, but worth the stop. Like today, I went to go get something to eat...and the lady asked me if I was going to get a Blueberry bagel with cream cheese and jam; and I told her yes. So she had put in the order for my food to be made. Their smoothies are the second greatest in my book but they are pretty good. Starving and in a rush, but needing me some protein in the morning, I dashed down the block to First Cup after noticing a small sign in the window advertising breakfast sandwiches. Got a simple egg sandwich on a french roll (granted, I wanted an English muffin but they didn't have any). Added avocado for $1. Nothing to shout about. Anyone could make this sandwich anywhere. The sandwich could've benefited from a healthy dose of seasoning (which I subsequently added with a sprinkle of salt and pepper). But the only saving grace was that the sandwich was freshly made (and the avocado nice and creamy) and toasted by the Korean lady owner right there (and well, the shop was completely empty). This is one of those smaller places you just have to support. It's close to my home and close to my office so how can i go wrong?? Great toasted sandwiches and they're under 5 bones! They are super nice there too. Only thing is that there is a minimum for your debit card so it's sometimes hard when i don't have cash. Okay. So went through and read review after review and 99% were positive. Service was amazing, sweet elderly couple. I ordered a green tea matcha latte with almond milk and a ham cheese egg bagel, and my husband ordered a white chocolate mocha with a bacon egg and cheese bagel. The green tea matcha was horrible (THE WORST DRINK IVE EVER HAD) the milk tasted like it was powder based and everything tasted artificial even the color of the drink was weird. My husbands white chocolate mocha was okay, coffee tasted burnt, but yea. My husbands bagel sandwich was okay, the bagel was microwaved and the eggs looked weird. My bagel sandwich was flat and nuked as well eggs were funny, but it was all okay (UNTIL).. I took a bite that tasted like straight MOLD!!!!! The scariest thing I've eaten, specially since they have a health violation for Vermin. Like 10min later and I have a headache and am feeling nauseous from the drink and who knows what was in the last bite. I'm sorry, but do not go here. Prices are low. A convenient and quick stop for the locals in this part of Russian Hill. The breakfast beagles are decent and fill you up. The one thing I'm not a fan of is that their latte tastes a little flavorless and their scrambled eggs are microwaved. O the memories I have with this place! I attended Galileo HS years ago and this was one of the few places in the area, luckily for me, they were actually good too! They served lunch boxes with entrees like spaghetti, teriyaki chicken, and other goods. If i remember correctly, i think they were only priced at about $3? This place is usually pretty crowded during lunch because of the high school students .
