Salesman said "No problem free for a year" Now First Kia is NOT standing by the salesman promise. Service manager said "I used both, no more, that's it." Sales Manager said "Its a he said she said, I should have read the fine print." Now I have to let the dozens of people I talk to about my car a week NOT to go to 1st Kia. They are not an honorable company. Earlier I put up a review about a registration mix up that caused me to get pulled over multiple times a week. A rep from First Kia...Mr Kia, or something like that, responded with a "please contact me" I did via e-mail so I'd have it in writing. I never heard back from him. Luckily most police in town and where I work, seemed to know the car and I got pulled over less and less until the proper documentation came in from the DMV. Now the latest issue with First Kia is their "free Oil Changes For A Year" lie. Our Salesman, who conveniently enough no longer works at First Kia, happily told us about their "Free Oil changes for a Year" promotion...deal...gimmick when we were signing all of our paperwork. I was really happy because I use this AWESOME 2015 Optima for Lyft. I told the salesman that it was going to save me a ton, and said well you'll probably see me once a month you sure that's included? "Yes, free oil changes for a year." I immediately did the math in my head and thought I was making an even better choice by coming to First Kia. That is when reality should have kicked in and been replaced with "If its too good to be true it probably is" I went through the first 5000 miles in a little over a month. Got an appointment...two weeks out. The day I took it in the service writer tried to write me up for over $200 in tire rotation, cabin filters, air filter, oil change. Oh and there is a thing you'd see when you get your car back that says "owner declined free car wash...to help save water" I didn't even know a car wash was on the table. Nonetheless I declined all that extra BS I could do myself, no doubt far cheaper. Then I was reminded sternly that I only get two oil changes per year, as per the recommended service intervals and average driving habits of blah blah blah. So what gimme my oil change. Got it. I picked up the car talked to the salesman about it, he reiterated service intervals, driving habits B.S. "We'll honor it though." 4K miles later...getting close, so I made an appointment...this time another two weeks out. Got there and good ole Sang was there again to write me up again. He looked at me like I was crazy that I wanted to use "last oil change". I said YES and this time I DO NOT want to opt out of my free car wash either. He said they normally don't wash cars on rainy days. A...it isn't a rainy day. B...I want it washed. As for the bickering over how many oil changes I'm entitled to I knew Sang wasn't the guy to talk to. It was the sales staff and they weren't in yet. So Oil change was done, sales staff was there. Before going to the service dept I stopped by the sales dept. I was greeted by a guy. I told him I was looking for my sales guy. no longer worked there I was told. I said then I need the sales manager. I had to tell this guy the issue, BEFORE he led me to the guy behind the big desk. (Waste of time) I told the guy behind the desk the same thing I told the kid. "free oil changes for a year, your salesman said, your service writer said no to" story. The guy behind the big desk said "Oh don't worry about it." I said can I get it in writing" At that point Guy behind the big desk turned to Yehehda (hacked the spelling I'm sorry) At which point Y(for short) gave me the "service recommendations based on average persons yearly driving habits" line. I told him I drive for Lyft, and drive more than the average person. He said, "Well then its a commercial vehicle." I said "Salesman said you still honor it." Y said "Well that's a He said she said thing" I said "Well now its a I tell Yelp thing" (Thinking this was getting childish) He proved it with his retort of "Then I'm going to give Lyft a bad review" I pointed out that would be a false review because your review isn't based on facts as a customer. I am PAYING for something from a company you represent. Then he tried the "Its based on service recommendations and the average blah blah small print." Once again... Bottom line. I LOVE my optima. I have over 100 people a week in and out of my car. I pay for my car off TIPS. I attribute my customers satisfaction mostly to the comfort of my Optama. Not often that i could say i got a great deal and had fun while buying a new car. That's what happened yesterday. With the expert help of Noah and his Manager Johnny Kia. They were able get us a 2020 Sorento EX for a great price and at 0 (zero) % interest. In and out in about an hour. (we brought all our needed paperwork) and even came with a full gas tank... Extremely disappointed with the service done on my car. Wait time is ridiculously... Dropped my car off Saturday for a routine oil change and one recall at 7:30 am. I called around 2:40 pm to see if it's ready they told me no. Obviously I'm upset at this point Ive been with out a car since 7:30am. Robin calls me back to let me know my car is ready around 3:30 after I was told by someone else that it wouldn't be ready till after 4:30pm. I get to dealer within 10min. To my surprise It wasn't ready. I waited 25 minutes only to learn the we're barely going to do the complementary car wash. I told I couldn't wait I had to go. I get in my car started heading home when I realized the seatbelt wasn't properly installed. At this point I called Robyn and told here I was heading back. Well they didn't fix. All they did was try to tuck it in. I ask for management and they responded no one is here on the weekends. I got Guys card left him a voicemail and I still haven't received a call back. I have a dash cam installed on my car. It records every time the vechiel is on. Well it recorded the employee driving in my car chitchatting away with other employees. It also recorded the tech stating he forget to install my rear seat back on my vehicle( he stated this when he brought the car to the carwash area) keep in mind I was already there waiting to pick my car up. Worst car buying experience I've ever had. I went in loving Kia and left never wanting to buy another one again. If you like that old sleezy, deceptive approach to car buy then you would love this place. Payment for a cheap Kia started out at $499 month! After I exclaimed "you've got to be kidding". Sid Khan asked me "how much are you willing to pay"? Really? I tell them how much I want to pay? As a mom I felt like I was being taken for a fool.When i refused their ridiculous deal and wanted to leave,my key was kept until the manager came out and try to make another deal. He dropped the price $1,500 and when I actually left, I received a call that if I come back in by 1pm they would take $3,000 off. I hate this kind of crap, other dealers don't do this. I guess we made the mistake of actually going to the dealership instead of dealing with the Internet sales person. I would like to say they were professional, but I believe there is a negative stigma associated with that term in the automotive industry. Generally a professional salesmen cannot function at all throughout a transaction without the sales manager nor can they handle a potential client who is ready to make a purchase. It's far too common to walk into a dealership these days and have them assume upon your arrival that you can't afford their car. It appears that too many have adopted this new way of selling an automobile, by the assumption that they (dealership) is doing you (the client) a favor by selling you a car. We left with a 2011 fully loaded Optima last week at this dealership. I suppose we should say we stole the vehicle because we got such a good deal there was no way we could really leave this dealership empty handed. Honestly, we went to see what all the hype was surrounding the new Optima and the reality is, nothing else we test drove in that price bracket came close to the features and luxury this vehicle has. OK I know what you're saying... I can get the Optima anywhere, I don't need to come to this dealership to get one. Walking on the lot we were given enough time to browse the inventory before the salesman arrived to assist us. This is good, because it gives you the time to figure out if they have your car before your pulled emotionally to take what they have on the lot. The salesman wasted no time in getting us on the test drive. That's right... we went directly on a test drive. No credit app to fill out, no questionnaire, no interview. Hop in and lets go for a spin. Back from the test drive we heard a loud gong - Great I thought, they made a sale, so now we'll get the I don't need your business as bad as you think I do attitude. Yeah... that didn't happen, they treated us like we were the only people to walk on the lot in weeks. The car we drove didn't have navigation and the color was OK, just OK. But like I said before the car sold itself. So we headed onto the sales floor and began our negotiating. Negotiating - a term that has nearly disappeared from the dictionary of the professional car salesman. We came pretty close to our bottom line when we realized we were sitting next to the exact car we were looking for. The correct color and it had navigation. Nearly ready to close the deal, the salesman brought over the sales manager to "close" the deal. Close would be defined as we just negotiated a large amount off the purchase price and we were a couple hundred away from our bottom line. I don't want the sales manager to get credit for all the hard work, the salesman handled the entire transaction up until this point. We let the sales manager know we had one more car to test drive before making a decision. He wanted to know what it would take to close. As a joke we pointed to the car next to us (with a $3000.00 higher price tag), and said this car and this number and it's a done deal. There was some friendly back and forth, within 10 minutes they gave us our deal. Throughout the negotiating there was a lot of fun banter going back and forth. It was borderline comedy club material. Just a good ole time. GET IT ON - BANG A GONG - Deal is done. Get your car and get out of here right? WRONG. Our salesman spent more time getting us familiar with all the features than the entire transaction took. He took the time to walk us through all the technology packed into this car. Setting our seat presets, syncing our phones, explaining navigation, Blue-tooth etc. In the days following he phoned twice to make sure we were still happy and to see if we had any questions. I suppose I'll get emails asking who to speak with, what did you save, how did you do it. I won't answer them out of fear these guys will get scolded by the owner for such a deal. If you don't mind throwing several thousand away go somewhere else. Or if you would like a great deal AND a fun transaction stop in and visit Marlon. Take note of the grey haired gentleman running around cracking jokes... he had a full head of black hair before we got done "negotiating". Ahhh shoot... looks like I let the cat out of the bag anyway It's my personal opinion that this place should set the bar on how a car should be sold, especially during a lousy economy. The rest of you who did not get our business should come here for a lesson on how to sell a car and how to treat a customer. Yes the savings are nice, being treated like a paying customer is even nicer. My worst experience at a car dealer was here. I was told a sale price and a low APR (2.9 or 3.9) for a KIA Forte over the phone. I made the mistake of letting them run my credit instead of seeing the numbers first. They took out the low APR and stuck in a higher one. Then they had me try to talk to their finance guy who is the rudest person I've ever dealt with. I basically left there telling them I would not do business with them or ever recommend them to anyone. As I was about to get into my car to drive off, the salesman who was helping me and another one came out to apologize for the rude finance guy and said they would call me and make sure they made things right. Well one of them did call me and after I called him back, he said he'll call me back again, and I haven't heard from him since then. I wasn't planning on even going back, but I thought I should hear what they had to say. Anyway, I went to Valencia KIA and bought my forte there. They stuck to the number they gave me over the phone with the low APR. I know dealers do that all the time with the low APRs versus the rebate, but the worst part about this experience was specifically that finance guy. I don't know how he even has a job there with his attitude. And, what happened to "making things right" from those salesman? Car listed online at $12,999, but I live in Santa Barbara (2+ hours away). I say to Internet Manager (Brandon) on phone, "Convince me to make the drive down." He says, "What do you have in mind?" I say, "$9,999." Later he calls back, "How does $11,500 sound?" I say, "Great. I'll drive down and we'll discuss it." We set a time. Wife, 5-year-old son and I drive down next day. Brandon calls on our way and says can't meet with us. Says ask for Che. We take a test drive: like the car and like Che. Ready to buy. We head inside and it goes downhill from there. (Sound familiar?) I offer $10,500 to start things off. Che counters with the originally listed $12,999! Brandon specifically told us to ask for Che; don't these guys talk to each other? I remind Che I was quoted $11,500 as a *guarantee* to make it worth my drive from Santa Barbara. Che says he knows nothing of it. Asst. Manager, Farzad, comes over. Says Brandon has no authority to give price quotes. I ask Farzad whether it's good business practice to not honor a quote given by phone--especially to customers making a 2 hour trip with family. His response? More tired sales maneuvers for the next half hour or so. I'll spare you the painful details. Bottom line: whole episode felt orchestrated and dishonest. $11,500 quote was never honored (though we'd have paid it gladly in the end.) Farzad was phony and insulted our intelligence with cliched sales lines. Was tricked with false quote into coming to dealership 2 hrs away. Don't let them do the same to you. read more

Why can't I give this place negative stars? After much research, I knew exactly what car I wanted, but needed to test drive the car. The sales guy was very nice, and not pushy at all. In hindsight though, he probably didn't care enough to be pushy. After the salesman told me that the car (which was everything I wanted but was black instead of the white i wanted) had been on the lot for nearly 200 days, I figured they would negotiate with me on it. After being passed around to a few other people there, I made an offer on the black car i didn't really want, hoping to get a great deal. They scoffed and said they could never go that low on the car. A few weeks later, I decided to use TrueCar to negotiate a deal for me on the car I wanted. Ironically, TrueCar wanted me to pay the same price I offered for the black car! Ha! So, wanting to keep my business in Simi Valley, and since they now had the car I wanted in stock, I called them to see if they would match the price. They told me that no one would meet that price, and I said Glendale Kia had already contacted me to place my order at that price (see my review on Glendale Kia- great place!). This started a firestorm of sales tactics, calls from their finance manager, etc trying to get me to come to the dealership. I explained numerous times to them that I had already offered that same price and they didn't take it., so I'm not sure why they would want me to come down if they still won't meet the price! But the calls just kept coming- from people I had never dealt with there- all just trying their luck at convincing me to come and look at the car, without ever saying they would go down one dollar. No one should ever come to this dealership. Unless you want people to call and harass you. They will NOT give you a good deal, no matter how long a car has been on their lot- they are just waiting for the next sucker to pay MSRP. read more

WARNING DO NOT buy a car from 1st Kia. They have the worst customer service EVER? My 2016 Optima check engine light came on in April and the car started running rough wouldn't go over 10mph. After 3 days of not knowing what's wrong they claim it needed an update. Took it in July for an oil change and apparently the dip stick read dry, no oil on it, yet they did not tell me, my mistake for not reading the paperwork entirely. Before my next scheduled oil change my oil light came on, so we added a quart of oil. 2 weeks later another quart so I took it in early for the oil change and tire rotation. They advised me to bring the car back in 500 miles to check the oil level, oh and they did not do the tire rotation like I asked. I came back in 1000 miles and it was low again. They charged me for the oil replacement and the missed tire rotation. They asked me to come back again and I said I don't have time to be running over here all the time for you to check the oil, you know its an issue. After asking for the service manager to call me he decided he had enough to open a claim. Kia decided to put a new motor in the car. They had my car for 24 days. Most follow ups were initiated by me. I asked to speak to the owner or someone above Greg the service manager and ended up with "Johnny Kia". Let me tell you this guy could care less about what I was saying about their lack of customer service. When I said I felt unsafe in the car all he said was why. I stated your service tech put my motor in, in less than one day after coming in late with personal issues. He just looked at me and said that's not the story heard. When I asked about what heard he claimed he did not have time to tell me. So when I left I warned a woman purchasing a car to beware as their lack of customer service is less than parr. As Im starting to drive away out come "Johnny Kia'" and Greg telling me Im never to come back to their dealership. Greg also told me I need to visit my Dr and get medication. This is completely NOT PROFESSIONAL!!! I wonder how the owner of 1st Kia feels about the way this managers treated their customers, especially one like me who has bought 4 Kias from this dealership. I'm actually writing this review on behalf of my dad. He was in the market for a new car and we decided to visit this place for his new Kia Soul. The salesman was great but when we were passed off to the 'closer', he was rude and pushy. We decided to take our business to Kia of Valencia and the experience was so positive there, that my dad ended up driving home in his new Soul. Now he has his oil changed at the Simi Valley Kia dealer, but when It's time for a new car, he said he'd make the drive to Valencia again, even though he lives just 2 miles from the Simi Kia dealer. read more

OK, here's the thing. As in many companies, there are great people working for lousy businesses. That being said, sales staff member Marlon Arevalo was great, and he seems to be a very decent and honest person. Great personality, energetic, and a good sense of humor. Thanks for treating me like a customer! I picked a very used 2013 Kia Optima--17K miles as a former rental car, and clearly marked as so, with some scratches on the paint. Sticker was $21K (their web site says brand new ones start at $23K). I offered $18K, right now, cash. Off goes Marlon to check with the sales manager, and at this point I knew this wasn't going to work. Back he came with the usual banter and no counter offer. I bumped it $250, and off he goes again. I'm thinking WTF? I'm dealing with a gopher??? He comes back again, saying that the dealership already has $19K into the car! 19K???? Really???? No way. I upped it $250 more. Marlon couldn't get the GSM to budge, so that was the end of that. So now I've bought my second car from CarMax. Why do so many car dealers play games with their customers? Why can't they be forthright, open, and consistent? Why can't they be simple and honest, umm, kind of like CarMax? read more

I don't know why I even bother giving them any of my business... Three months after I leased my car, I called Kia and scheduled my free oil change. They had given me a coupon for my first one. I spoke with someone on the phone and she asked me how many miles were on my car and we set up a time to go in. My husband and I drove out 30 mins to Simi Valley only to be told that my car didn't need an oil change until it hit 7,000 miles. Why didn't they tell me that when I told them it only had 3,000 miles when scheduling my appointment. At this point I've now had the car for two and a half years. I've been deciding what to do when my lease ends so I was happy to get a call from a woman named Patty Brown this past Wednesday offering me a free appraisal in case I was interested in trading it in. We scheduled an appt on Saturday, and they even called me that morning to confirm I was still coming in. My husband and I again drove 30 mins to Simi Valley. I told someone at the service desk that I was there for an appraisal and was told to ask for Yehuda. I let Yehuda know that I was there for my appraisal appt. He asked me if I was interested in trading in my car, and I told him that I wasn't sure. It depended on what they told me. He asked me what kind of car I had and punched in a few things in his computer and told me $15k - the exact residual value that is typed on the paperwork I have in the glove compartment. I asked him if he even wanted to look at the car since I knew I had a ding in the door and was 10k over my mileage. He said no. He looked at us like he had no idea why we were there. At this point my husband was furious and walked out so I followed. We ended up taking our car to Carmax and finding out that they could pay off the car without me paying for the miles so we went and leased a brand new Prius that day. I will never go back and I make sure to tell everyone about my terrible experience any chance I have. read more

CODY !!!!! What an awesome guy. Getting a new car is stressful for anyone, even if if you're going along for the ride or being a support system for someone. My girlfriend and I went by First Kia to figure out what she was going to do about her current lease as it was up in a month. Cody made both of our experiences amazing. He continued to negotiate with his boss in order to meet our financial restrictions and came up with a deal that pleased everyone. New update... I had another issue with my car today and I was refused service at jiffy lube and told to return to first kia where I last had it serviced. All in all they are fixing the problem with no charge and giving me a future service credit. Came in super frustrated but leaving content. The service manager Vince was extremely helpful and super nice, as well as the owner Johnny of first kia took care of me today as well. read more

My experience with car salesmen aren't very good but.... yesterday 1st Kia of Simi Valley yesterday and I have to say, I finally FINALLY had a salesman I liked! His name is MARK (don't remember his last name!).. He was not only very knowledgeable about the cars I tested, but what a great disposition and calm personality he has!!! I really recommend asking for Mark if you are shopping there for a vehicle.. I also recommend going here for a used car with MARK as your salesman. I will ad to this, if you don't find the car you want, then Mark will keep you updated on the cars as they come in daily! Very sweet salesman! I went to this dealership to look at the Sportages, hopefully to buy. I already had my financing in place with another lender. I test drove a fully loaded Sportage, which I knew was out of my price range, and I told the saleman this, SEVERAL times. He kept reassuring me they'll be able "to work something out." We got back to the showroom and start crunching numbers, where I again told him I already had approved financing elsewhere. Then the alpha salesman comes over and insists on running my credit to see if I could qualify for a loan through their lender. I said no because I knew my credit was bad and I didn't want everyone there to know, but he persisted. I finally relented. Sure enough, he comes over and says my credit was bad (duh) and I couldn't get their financing. I was SO embarrassed. He was very rude about it. Even with my financing, it became evident I couldn't afford the Sportage, especially the fully loaded one! Did they offer me a less expensive alternative, like the Soul?? Nope. I probably would've been interested, maybe even purchased, but wasn't even given the chance. Humiliated, I left. They could've had a sale that day, as I was really ready to buy something, but they blew it. I will NEVER go back to that dealership again. read more
