You cannot make this stuff up.........Based on the experience I had with the safety issue on my wife's car, and 1st Kia's lack of work or ownership of seeking resolution, I initiated a formal complaint with the State Bureau of Automotive Repair. The state representative informed me that due to my original Yelp review, I was, "no longer welcome to come to the dealership unless I removed my review." Sorry to inform folks but this is not going to happen.......I am entitled to my opinion based on my experiences with them. So my wife talked to Johnny Kia yesterday, who stated, "We are washing our hands of you, of the car, and you are not invited back." It is rather ironic, considering the statement made in reply to several other reviews of, "Our customers are our top priority." Total lip service...... Now the funny part? When we purchased the vehicle it came with 1 year of free oil changes in the sales contract.....so if we are not allowed to come to the dealership, not sure how they are going to fulfill their end of the contract..... read more

Made an appointment on Jan 17th for Jan 19th because my Kia has engine problems. I just received a voicemail ( Jan 18th)and text saying they won't have any technicians available till late February. You are a Kia dealership and can't look at my Kia for a month? I was also told not to make an online appointment for engine issues. Why is this not mentioned on your online appointment website? We got our Niro EV from 1st Kia 16 months ago. Having it has been a wonderful experience. But somehow at the end of July we hit a bump in the road when the Niro, an electric, wouldn't start. Kia sent a technician to jump start us. All fine and good until the next day, when the car won't start. So at our request, Kia towed the car to 1st Kia. My go-to service advisor, Brian Keelam, took over the project. Instead of a one day evaluation, it took several to isolate that the 12v battery was intermittently failing. The battery was well inside warranty so it was replaced. 1st Kia had never seen a failure like this before, but they stood by us, making sure we'd leave their lot confident that our car was roadworthy. It's performing wonderfully. Along the way we were really well taken care of. Both Brian and Service Manger Greg Thoma called with updates and shared valuable insights into how to maintain and drive an electric vehicle. We really appreciated their suggestions. Being an EV, the car doesn't need the same attention our gas and hybrid vehicles call for, but we'll be going back to Brian for regularly scheduled maintenance and those little adventures life throws at you. Unfortunately, this is not my first bad experience at 1st St. Kia dealership. I bought my car there, went for my first free service and they were great. When my AC stopped working, I took it to a different mechanic that specializes in AC and The diagnostic was that there was a leak in my evaporator cord, and he encouraged me to take it to my dealership if I have a warranty, which I do, so I made an appointment at 1st St., Kia. When I showed up at my appointment date,I got turned away and refused because the AC mechanic wasn't there that day, finally I was able to reschedule For an appointment on August 13, 2024, and upon my arrival I was greeted by Dean and he told me he would get started on my car and then see what was up. I told him all my information on what I knew what was wrong with my car and left for him to take care of it. I only received one text message for contact at the end of the day on the 13th saying that my service has not been completed and he can't do it tomorrow because he's off. my car was in the shop for three days at this point and they didn't look at it until the 15th. At 4:27pm I received a text saying that they had to "recharge my AC system and add free on and if we detect a leak we will put a good will for the estimate." Then the next text I received was "your car is ready to be picked up at 5:30pm today or anytime tomorrow." While being at work, I either had to leave work early and pick up my car then or wait a whole other day to pick up it up. I rushed there before closing. Dean took me in the office to go over the paperwork to sign and he let me know that there was no leak and the Freon was $300. I came in for a diagnostic to see what was wrong with my car. I didn't approve anything to be add to my vehicle.There was no communication on me saying it was okay to add the Freon, there was no communication on how much anything was besides the diagnostic that I came in for. There was barely any communication the three days my car was there. I ended up leaving unhappy, paying the diagnostic fee and the Freon. He gave me a good will for the Freon. It's now September 7, and my AC system stopped working probably because there's a leak that they did not fix. I left whole experience feeling unsatisfied and like a robbed customer because they knew my warranty would probably cover the repair. read more

We returned a Kia Sorento off a lease on July 19th 2024. On Sept 4th we received a notice from the DMV that we needed to pay for the registration (the car was returned before the registration expired). I went into the dealership for some help on resolving this issue. I was told not to worry about it as this happens all the time and just ignore the DMV notice. Unfortunately on the back of the DMV notice of renewal it states do NOT ignore this notice. Via the VIN # I was able to track the car to another KIA dealership who were equally unhelpful. I have since visited the DMV, they told me I was correct not to ignore the notice as I could be held liable. I am now completing the Notice of Release of Liability online! Just be careful if you are returning a vehicle to get this release completed, do not rely on the dealership! read more

The worst experience I've had while shopping for a car. I walked in looking for a new Kia Telluride for my wife. They had 1 in stock but was 10 ft in the air having a tow hitch installed. The sales rep was nice, but when I walked back into the showroom to discuss a trade in the desk manager was aggressive and trying to play "old school" car salesman on me. When I asked him about my trade in (2017 Pacifica) he wouldn't give me a number, asked me if I was dreaming, and then handed my key back to me before putting his hand on my shoulder and gesturing me towards the door. I let him know that his service was garbage and I wouldn't be considering a Kia from first any longer. Considering nobody was on the lot, and you were standing around doing nothing, you would think they would want a sale. Oh well. read more

Terrible customer service. Service techs don't return phone calls. Call main line to be transferred to service dept and they don't pick up. Automated system gives options to connect but then the system doesn't connect you when those options are selected. Tried to chat with "chat professional" on their website which I was asked my name and email multiple times in the same chat, then was told a manager would call asap but when I asked first a managers name repeatedly, they just ended the chat instead of providing a name. I selected the option to have the chat conversation emailed to me because it looked like they replied but before I could read it, the chat conversation disappeared. This is a complaint for the Service Dept...service advisor Sang!! I dealt with this guy twice now and both incidents he was rude AF, talks to you in a condescending way. The first time was over an oil leak in OCT of 2022 and he was angry like his wife just divorced him and taking it out on me. Im just here for service dude!!! This time around as I was politely informing him the need to checkout my car he replied with "we do not service that issue here" we are not mechanically inclined for that service issue!!! Like what??? Are you kidding me!!! You're KIA dealer service department, how in the world are you going to tell me you can't help me out?? If KIA was smart they should get rid of that Sang he is not good for customer service at all! BTW, all I needed was an Oxygen Sensor replacement or whatever needs to be done under the hood. I came here last Wed to look at a Stinger and sportage. I was greeted as soon as I came into the lot. Cameron helped me and we test drove the Stinger base first. It has a lot of pep for a 4 cylinder and 255 hp. Took it on some windy roads and it handled really well! If you upgrade to the GT models the stereo is awesome! We then drove a used fully loaded 2019 sportage. It was also very nice but a bit heavy to me. Cameron answered all my questions, wasn't pushy and fun to deal with. I thought I wanted the premium then went to a dealer who had it, drove that and the 6 cyl gt1 and now want that! My search continues, but I highly recommend Cameron to anyone who doesn't want to be pushed into anything, but helped in whatever decision you make. read more

Update: A year after my purchase, paint starts peeling off my car. KIA takes no responsibility as well. Hate to compare, but my Toyota didn't start looking like this until nearly 10 years later. Aside from this, my 10 year warranty was useless. I took my car in for one issue, I received a call saying that "one issue" blew out all my lightbulbs in my vehicle. And I was "responsible to pay for every lightbulb." I dropped off my my vehicle for service with zero lightbulbs damaged. Short story short, I won't be back at 1st Kia in Simi. read more
