Good service. Food was mediocre. Ordered: Bread service: So so taste. Mealy texture. The cheese had no flavor. The curry jam was good. Marrow: not much flavor. Basically eating fat on croutons. Chicken: a bit dry but the flavor was good. Crispy rice: fried sweet rice balls. Pass Steak Tartare: superficial flavor profile. Doesn't taste like anything They refused to honor their happy hour prices despite handing us a menu with happy hour prices. Later said it was because it's Mother's Day. So...because it was a holiday and they'd be busier they decided to remove happy hour discounts. Seemed weird since they gave us a happy hour menu. Overall we spent quite a bit of cash for mediocre food. And a mispriced dinner. We felt they should have honored the happy hour they have advertised. read more

I really want to like this restaurant as I love local restaurant. But the three dishes we got was not up to my expectation. The breakfast burrito was too salty, the breakfast tartine is like an egg Benedict but it does not have a sauce and the toast it comes with was quite greasy. The maple pancake was too sweet. I told the waitress the syrup should be served on the side instead of the pancake being soaked in it. I think it would be pretty good. We did like the cold brew coffee. It was really good. Late dinner last night with five friends and - oh man - what a treat! Creative cocktails to start - my I Will Survive was perfect, and I did sip the HYFR, which was spicy and refreshing at the same time - I could honestly work my way through the cocktail list. For appetizers, we had the Brisket Croquettas, the Ricotta Toast, Pork Belly and the Bone Marrow. They were all fabulous. For the main course, we had the lamb pappardelle (perfect fusion of flavors with fresh pasta), the Vegas Steak with the White Snake Sauce (licking the plate was threatened), and the Seared Salmon (you could smell the butter and it was beautifully crusted). For dessert we went with recommendations and I wish I remembered their names, but they were amazing, and we shared a Tumbleweed cocktail that can best be described as a grown up milkshake. Just do what the server suggests and you can't go wrong. We'll be back to explore more of the menu! read more

Great place to eat! This is definitely a place to go for a special event like an anniversary or birthday. The food was on the higher end for my taste, price wise but well worth it. The service was excellent, our waiter has been there since the restaurant opened so I feel like the management team must run a good operation. I was surprised that the valentine dinner was a fixed menu. I wasn't informed of this when I made the reservation and there was no mention on your website. I never like writing a negative review and this one has taken me some time to sort out as there was so much wrong about our dining experience. The first thing I noticed was the entrance. This is Kansas and there are some wild weather swings, which include very cold temperatures and very windy days. The entrance has no foyer. Every time someone enters, the entire dining room will get a blast of any extreme weather, be it a blast of cold air, the wind if it's coming from the right direction or the hot summer air. For this area not having a double entry foyer to trap the outside air before a customer enters shows a lack of planing and poor design. They cook using a wood fire. This is fine if you know what you're doing. We witnessed employees fanning the fire with flat pieces of cardboard, spreading hot embers everywhere. I have never seen such an example of public foolishness. The menu is ala carte. Entree's range from $26 to $50. The waitress told us the portions are intended to be served family style with portions large enough for two. In our case, we ordered the chicken dish, which was priced at $26. The reality is this was 1/2 of a relatively small fryer hen. W also ordered the Scarborough Fair Bread Service and a side of the Black Truffle potatoes. The bread was very dry and slightly overdone. What I thought was butter was apparently some sort of cream cheese butter that I found to lack any taste other than bitterness. The bread was to dry to enjoy without butter. The chicken itself had good flavor and was cooked just past being done, so it was moist, but barely done. I can't describe the sauce that ruined the dish. I looked as if it should be some sort of curry sauce but that wasn't the flavor I was getting. The black truffle potatoes were indescribable...... literally. I still have absolutely no idea what they were trying to accomplish. Plated it looked like someone threw up charcoal briquettes. The taste was all over the map. The potatoes were indiscriminately burnt. In short, it was the worst side dish either of us have ever ordered. This was just not a good experience for either of us. To me it was as if the chef, and I use that term loosely, was just throwing spices and seasoning together without really knowing what goes well together. For the prices they charge, this needs to be top notch cuisine. For $50 that piece of meat should be a dry or wet aged filet, not beef tenderloin, and that's the main reason we stuck to the chicken. There were to many clues before hand that this wasn't going to be a five star experience. read more

We asked the hostess who took our order about our food. She responded it was busy and a lot of people came in at the same time as us.
