I have been a customer at First Texas Honda since 2021. Always happy with the service. Recently though, I had an unusual experience after a routine oil change that confirmed my belief in the quality of their service and their 'customer first' approach. About 10 minutes after picking up my car all of the 'problem' notifications started flashing. I called my service advisor (Logan) and I told him I was bringing it back. Driving back to the dealer the car lost acceleration so I pulled off the highway and called him again. Logan and a technician drove to where I was and managed to get my car and me back to the dealer. They gave me a loaner and after 2 days determined the problem, fixed it and did not charge me. (even though they could not be completely sure if it was related to previous work or not...they just did the right thing). Thank you Logan and the team at First Texas Honda! Felt like a "Pin cushion" being harrassed with upsale after upsale that wasn't even needed and in fact had been taken care of already in the past month!!?! Ridiculous. Hard to Trust a company that you made the 2nd largest purchase of my life...2nd to my home that doesn't care anything about the customer...only sales, sales and more sales addons. Oh brother. Service advisor never even bothered to introduce himself. After I told him I just wanted a transmission flush and that's what the appointment was for and showed him a piece of paper I had typed up with the estimate and signing it "Full payment"...nothing else necessary today. I get it...I don't mind if they want to check out the vehicle and let me know if anything came to their attention. He immediately went into his sales pitch asking if I wanted an oil change and tire rotation...and I immediately repeated myself...No thank you, just the transmission flush I typed up on the paper I just gave you. Later he called to tell me my vehicle needed an alignment and tire rotation...which was totally bogus because I just had that done within the past 30 days-and obviously they never test drove the vehicle nor measured the alignment stats. Then he told me my battery was leaking acid, which I didn't see any bulges or acid leaks...if there were any, it would take a magnifying glass to see them. I only wonder how they treat folks that didn't purchase their vehicle from them. When I went to pay, I went to the service desk and there were about 6 service advisors talking to each other, and not one would acknowledge my presence so that I could pay. They were to busy making labor day weekend plans. Even when I got out of my vehicle, noone would direct me to the waiting area. Being handicapped adds to the difficulty. God bless them. We agreed to a price over the phone and they said they could do better if I came in to the dealership. Got to the dealership, waited 45 min to speak with the sales rep, and the price was $1700 more than I was quoted over the phone. Spoke to the manager and he was rude. Service guy was horrible. I understand price is what the price is but don't lie and tell me that my car is lights are because the car has every single problem. I had to jump start my battery and all the dashboard lights came on. We just left the lights on. The car is fine and hadn't had the dashboard lights on before we left headlights on all night. Because of a sour experience over 20 years ago we have bought our last three Hondas from our preferred dealership in San Antonio. I have had one rude experience after another. But this last one beats them all. We bought a used car from FTH in October of last year and I am still dealing with this dealership's incompetence. They gave me a trade in value for my vehicle and then tried to hide the fact that they took $3,000 off of the amount they agreed to give me when it came to signing documents. The sales person lied and said it was sales tax, but you aren't supposed to be charged sales tax when trading in! Be very careful with the sales manager (I think Tyler) he's an actual liar and so is the Sale Person Aaron Garcia. First time comer. I am from Illinois and will be driving back home tomorrow. I only needed to get multi-point check since I had my van inspected 3 weeks prior to leaving. I expected to wait in a long line to talk to a service technician then wait longer for my vehicle to be serviced, that was not the case. Sebastian from Service Dept took my van right away and told me how long it would take to service it. He also pointed out where to find the waiting area and man they did not disappoint...lol He made sure that my van was serviced in a timely fashion and that the vehicle was good to go. He made my morning by explaining things in detail and didn't make me feel pressured to get stuff done on the same day. I thank him for insuring the work preformed was done accurately. I walked in and nobody helped me for 15 minutes even though I asked someone for a salesman. eventually someone came up to me and I said I wanted to drive a civic. he then told me that I should look into a larger car like the odyssey or a pilot because "your fat a** ain't fitting in a civic, sweetheart" I immediately asked to speak to his manager and he told me if I wanted to speak to him I'd need to walk 40 steps to his office and that didn't seem like it would be possible for me. read more

We brought our 2022 Civic in for a mandatory recall. We booked the appointment on April 1 for May 27, and were promised recall work would be done the same day. Brought the car in the morning of May 27, waited all day, then received a call at 4:30 saying they didn't have the part for recall so car would be kept overnight. Crazy we had booked an appt 8 weeks out, First Texas Honda knew the VIN and recall service needed, but then didn't have the required part for their own recall. To add insult to injury, we needed a spare key and they charged over $400 - $237 for the key, $110 labor to cut the key, $23 "misc charges", and $18 "misc shop charges". Highway robbery for minimal labor plus $40 just tacked on as misc just because they can. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

I'm downgrading my previous review after giving them another try. Check your service invoice really careful before paying to make sure everything is correct. Now they charge for work they did not do. They initially denied it. It took an hour of back-and-forth with them after the fact to get it corrected. On top of that they now add a surcharge if you use your credit card. They want to pay with cash or check. This means you don't have an intermediary to help you with disputes like the excess charge like happened to me. read more

This is a late update but never realized I didn't update originally. I did reach out to Cody at the time (who replied here with his email) who provided some pictures of various leaks etc that I'd never seen before. I asked for the pictures were from my car and they never replied back. It's been over 3 years now since this experience and I haven't been back and have no regrets. I've also not needed any of the unnecessary repairs they said I needed to pass the state inspection. Save your time and money and have the inspection done elsewhere. The free coffee (if it's still offered) isn't worth the price for the repairs. read more

The tech proposed a $1500 for fixing key cylinder which I got done for $300 with a locksmith. The experienced locksmith said they were wanting me to buy a bunch of stuff I did not need. In 2019 this company sold us an absolute lemon. At the time of purchase when the brakes squealed after departing the store, on a brand new Odyssey, they tightened the brake pads and said,"Don't worry about it, if there are more problems we'll give you a new vehicle". Well numerous problems persisted including a new drive shaft being needed. The brakes never resolved and they did NOT honor their word on giving us a replacement for the lemon. We ended up selling the vehicle for more than we purchased it. And i will continue to leave negative reviews for the rest of my fucking life. Fuck this place. read more

Took Honda CRV 2024 in for regular maintenance as required by the extended warranty we purchased from First Honda when we bought the car from 1st Tx. Appointment was efficient and thorough, Andy was courteous and professional. However, we were charged $183 for a wheel alignment. We agreed to it because we were afraid our warranty would be voided for future repairs if we did not do it. This upcharging is a common complaint according to reviews. But the thing that will send me to a different dealership is charging 3% for credit cards. Small mom and pop stores can't afford that fee--Big dealerships certainly can and if not, they should tighten their budget, get rid of that nice coffee bar and let us middle class folks who depend on using our cards for points or cash back to get them. read more

Over the past 5 years of owning a Honda requiring regular maintenance, I probably will never again do anything at First Texas Honda, and will instead continue services at the Acura of North dealership (which almost always has cheaper prices anyway, at least for oil changes). First Texas Honda just takes advantage of you, particularly if you are a woman. Should you decide to get service there I highly recommend calling ahead for the price and then following up on that price quote in writing. Because their pricing is, shall we say, fluid. On my last visit (9/4/24) even after calling in advance for the price of an oil change and upon arrival receiving a quote for the oil change, somehow at checkout it was $10 more. When I questioned this the check out guy just shrugged his shoulders even after I showed him the WRITTEN SAME DAY QUOTE. The transmission fluid replacement was another $4 more than the same-day written estimate. On top of all of this, there was a mysterious $30 "miscellaneous fee" that was not on the estimated quote. Looking through my past service receipts the "miscellaneous fee" ran $5 to $7 dollars each service, but this time it is $30! Also, my last couple services the 14MM drain washer for the oil change was .95. This time it jumped to $4 and was skipped in the estimate. I understand about inflation, but from .95 in 2023 to $4 in 2024, for a drain washer? In comparison, Acura of North Austin quotes have always been spot on and include any "miscellaneous - i.e. environmental fees". With Acura, the price you are quoted is the price you get. With first Honda, the price you are quoted is false advertisement (and on my last visit cost me and additional $44, with no other services added). That isn't even including the fact that my quoted wait time was 2x what was stated. After 2.5 hours (original quote was 60 to 90 minutes) I gave up on arguing about the price because $44 wasn't worth having to be there another hour while they "called the manager". read more

Their service writers are incredibly dismissive. I've dealt with many of them and, more than not, they make me feel like my issues with my vehicle are made up or that my expectations are too high. Yes, I'd like my brand new vehicle to not rattle as if I'd had it for 5 years. Speaking of brand new: the salesperson who sold me the car checked in to see how I was "loving it" and I told him I wasn't. I never heard back for any sort of solution. The 3 stars, rather than 1, are for the technicians who have actually given me the time of day and made me feel heard and validated. Does this mean they are always able to fix my issue? Edited 10/07/2023 Alex at First Texas Honda took care of terminal repair charges. That's great, but that is not something I should have to have had to fight for. I still have no confidence in the extended warranty First Texas Honda sold me. Mastertech (the warranty company) blamed the terminal damage on me and essentially refused to cover the repair because they just didn't feel like it. That is something I'm going to reflect on long and hard before buying an extended warranty for my next vehicle. read more

I must update my review and commend Frist TX Honda for their responsiveness regarding my review. Their service leaders reached out to me and requested additional details regarding the service interactions my wife and stepdaughter experienced. We did communicate via email and phone. I do stand by what was communicated to me by my family but the service team did provide additional details and I believe we did come to an understanding. Kudos to them for their professionalism and responsiveness to my issue. 5 stars for their customer service! Review for the service center. Overall a good experience. I had an Appt for an oil change but still had to wait for ~about 30 minutes for my service Rep to untangle himself from a customer call. Once we got the paper work completed I was able to settle in access their Wi-Fi and get some work done. There is a gratis coffee and snack bar and they do make a decent specialty coffee. There are cold drink options and some snacks like chips, breakfast bars, and bananas, About an hour later the car was ready. The service Rep reviewed the inspection report and all was AOK. It's rather interesting that with the previous oil change Plus 1 was told that she needed tires and other work. I was told that the tires were good for at least another 10K and the other maintenance was futuristic as well. Same situation with No 1 stepdaughter a simple tire replacement exercise turned into you need $2K worth of maintenance. Do you see the pattern here? read more

Worst dealership and service that you could ever imagine. I went in to fix my tire which they charged way more than it should. Then they crashed my car in their car wash and I didn't receive a rental car for over 10 days after with zero communication. It took me almost a month to get my car back from them. I requested a refund and then I get texted that I am no longer welcome back there after their manager told me he was going to refund me. Never ever go to them as this is literally criminal activity going on. Horrible people. I want to leave a zero star but the one star is as low as I can put it. So responding to Jason (service manager) ridiculous message down below. This is a complete lie. They told me my cars tire would be repaired in 2 days and I said if that is the case I don't need a rental car and I would come back when completed. The tire took a week to complete and they knew this would take longer than 2 days and never reached out letting me know this. Then after a week when the tire was completed they crash my car in their car wash. So 10 days later I get in touch with them to get a rental car. They then would give me zero communication throughout the process and I would end up not receiving my car for an entire month. So for inconvenience beyond belief and proper business ethics of the customer I should be given a refund for a tire that I originally brought my car in for but again YOUR team crashes my car and then takes your sweet time getting it back to me. And as far as you guys asking me not to return is hysterical. Do you think in a million years I would return to your god forsaken dealership? I wouldn't recommend you to my worst of enemies. So this is the real story so everyone has clarity and please save yourselves and never go to this dealership. They will damage your car and then ask YOU to not return like it's your fault. And want to add one last detail that I spoke to "Jason" the manager last night which I was upset with because of this entire ridiculous process but he AGREED that I should receive a refund. Called me back last night confirming that he will help me get this refund resolved today and then sends a text this morning that I am not getting a refund and will not be welcomed back. We have a twenty year old Honda, manual shift. Lately the clutch has been sounding squeaky so we took it into First Texas. Our service advisor was super nice and we got a loaner because they would have to order slave cylinder/ master cylinder. We were looking at next week turn around he said. What are the odds they would have the parts in stock - but they did! So in a couple of hours we were back in the seat of our old Honda. And, they even replaced the disintegrating climate control knobs for free which they had in stock too!! Nice work you guys! BTW the clutch feels nice and tight. read more

ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE DEALER DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO SCREW ME with unnecessary add ons and crap. (Extended battery, lifetime key, and the most scum-tastic add on of all, LoJack.) I took my Honda Civic into First Texas Honda because I was having issues with the AC. Dropping off and picking up my rental was seamless. Everyone was very nice and attentive. I received a call two days later to pick up my Civic ($2k bill which was unfortunate but figured as much). Took my car home and everything seemed fine. I was driving later that evening and I heard a strange noise from underneath my car. Turns out, the pan (not sure the same) was not properly screwed back in. Of course I'm mad since I just spent a lot of money there and now I'd have to go back in the AM. I went back to first Honda in the AM - employees weren't as friendly - arguing with me about my car/told me to wait 2 hours and come back. This is a complicated review. I bought an Accord from First Texas Honda back in June. Perfect sales experience. Joe Morales and Julian Rodriguez are great. Unlike Howdy Honda, they did not add a whole bunch of useless dealer added accessories onto the vehicle to mark up the price. I did most of the sales negotiation via email and only came in to sign the paperwork. Easy. The main issue I had was with their finance department. The dude was straight up rude and angry when I wouldn't purchase the additional warranty. He pitched it several times and I was like, "no thank you." I couldn't have been any clearer. Then he got angry and was like "why would you want to pay more for service?" He kept asking that question. It got SUPER uncomfortable. I just kept saying, "no, thank you." I just wanted to get out of there. It was *the* craziest experience I have ever had with regard to sales. The other issue, and it may not have been totally First Texas Honda's fault, was that it took FOREVER for me to get my plates. Like, FOREVER. I had to keep pestering them and finally they were able to pick up the permanent plates up from the DMV. It was nuts. I've never had to wait that long for plates before. And they give you a ton of time on your paper ones. It was a mess. To be fair to them, any time they needed more information, they overnighted whatever they wanted me to sign since I live in San Antonio, including the plates. And the title clerk and receptionist were all super friendly and customer service oriented. I would 100% buy a car from them again--Joe and Julian both helped me out--they are top notch salesmen. Both very responsive to email inquiries. But I would also 100% walk out the door if I had to go to the same finance manager no matter what deal was on the table. read more

Updating this review to reflect great service from FTH. First Texas Honda has been my go-to place for routine oil changes since moving to Texas. Never had an issue with them and chose them for convenience. Had one incident during a multipoint inspection that calls for replacing the drive axle seal on the driver side. My transmission fluid was leaking from the deteriorating seal over time without my knowledge. I've noticed a lack of power, especially during highway driving and they told me I needed to get it fix ASAP. I previously had my transmission flushed 6 months earlier as a routine maintenance as I didn't know when was the previous flush was performed on my car as I'm the second owner and the car was previously a lease. This was around 69,000 miles on the odometer. Since then, my car has been in tip top shape in terms of routine service. The only thing I would say is to improve the oil change time. Two hours seem to be excessive, even with an appointment. I guess there's all the other cars waiting in line to get serviced, which is understandable. read more
