Horrible experience. Bought a black 2023 Honda CRV on May 4. This review is under a pseudonym but they'll know who I am. The manager, Robert Furcinitti, had a sales associate bring me a sheet of financing options with a "7%" interest rate. I immediately knew from looking that the rate was closer to 20%, and I voiced this immediately. The sales associate, Arlie (spelling?), assured me this was a 7% interest rate in response to my concern. Not even close. So I asked for Robert, who came in and gaslit me that the numbers I was looking at were accurate. I pulled out a financing calculator and showed him 7% would be about $100 less per month than what he's showing me. He backed down, got a new paper with new payments, and sheepishly acknowledged he "made a mistake". Sure you did. The amount of money he would have grifted me out of was about $6000 over 5 years. When I purchased insurance through their partner, [removed as part of edit] and Pronto insurance, they assured me they would "prorate" my insurance if I switched. There was a surprise $84 fee, meaning I was charged $110 for 2 days of Pronto insurance, PLUS the ~$170 fee for the insurance agent. Every step of the way I was deceived and mislead. I had to call Honda itself about the dealership and we're working through what to do about this. UPDATE: I at least got them to recover the $84 fee, but that's no thanks to Howdy Honda. For that reason I've removed the name of the insurance agent from the review. read more

Five stars for Ryan Harper and the team at Howdy Honda! I've never been to Howdy Honda before, but I recently got a new car and was struggling for months with Google Assistant not working properly. I just wanted to be able to say, "Take me home" or "Take me to work" without having to manually open Maps on my phone. No matter what I did, it kept asking me to download Google Assistant--even though I already had it! On a busy Saturday, I pulled into Howdy Honda (probably not even in the right spot at first), and Brian greeted me kindly despite the long line of cars. He suggested I might need a reservation but quickly listened to my issue and said, "We might be able to help you real quick--go inside and see if Ryan's available." Sure enough, Ryan Harper was free. I gave him a quick rundown of the issue, and he didn't hesitate--he said we probably didn't need an appointment and offered to take a look right away. We went outside, he hopped in the car, and within five minutes, he fixed the problem! I was so relieved, especially since I'm heading out of state soon. On top of that, he gave me a quick refresher on how to check if I need an oil change--something I'd totally forgotten how to do. I took my car here for an oil change and to address a recall related to AC. The turnaround time was 5 days. After the service + picking up my car, it had severe electrical issues (car would shut off while driving/making turns, power steering would go out, vehicle was too dangerous to drive) which coincidentally occurred after they poked around my car. I strongly believe the issues were caused during service, likely by accident. The ISSUE is that nobody answers the phone in the service department. I've been calling for 6+ days and have left multiple, polite voicemails. My car is unsafe to drive and I can't get in touch with anyone from this dealership to fix it/get consultation. I strongly recommend visiting other Honda service departments instead of this one, even if they're much further away from you. They do not have loaner vehicles available, you will not be able to get in touch with their team members, and your car may be more dangerous rolling out of here compared to when it rolled in. read more

Very poorly run dealership. Manager would never talk with us let the sales person handle everything. We drove over an hour to buy and test drive the 2015 Mini for $13,669 but after the test was told could not sell the car for the asking price that they marked it too low and needed to raise it to $14,667. Said their was nothing they could do and long story short we drove home without the Mini. Now three days later the car is still listed for $13,669. BAIT AND SWITCH with the selling price. I told him I wanted to get two things looked at, and he disputed both? As if he didn't want to book work? Told me they seemed fine after I showed him a video of it malfunctioning. Mind you, this guy isn't even the mechanic. Weird. Then, I went ahead and gave him warranty info and he said it most likely wouldn't be covered..... and was refusing to check me in. Didn't ask if I'd pay out of pocket. Finally I said, you know what? I actually will just take my car somewhere else it seems like you're not wanting to check me in. Took my car to address a couple of Recalls that should have maybe taken an hour to addressed. They even told me it would only take two hours max. About 5 hours later they call me to ask me if I wanted additional services performed that needed attention per their inspection. I never asked for an inspection, and I now it is complementary, but it is just a waste of time, specially when you need your car back the same day. After I said no to the services, and getting the car back the next day, I found out that my Windshield Wiper Arm Tube has been cut and now it needs to be replaced. I bought a brand new honda civic from Howdy Honda this year. Today I went in to let them know I was recently robbed and my car key had been stolen. I told them I had a police report number to give to prove the severity of this robbery and my financial situation. I came in to get a new key for my car to replace the stolen one. They told me it would be a base pay of 150$. Thats's fine, I understand it's not easy to replace or make. They said It could come up to around 200-250$ for labor. When I return to pay and pick up my key they tell me it's 437.56$. I never expected it to be free or under 200$, but I would not have ever expected the labor costs of making a new key to be around 300$. Especially not when a brand new loyal costumer has let them know they have just been robbed. I paid around the same for that key as I do monthly for my car. I feel taken advantage of and a huge lack of sympathy from this establishment. This is not the first bad impression I have had or heard of from them. read more

BUYERS BEWARE: I purchased a 2016 Kia Soul from Howdy Honda a few days ago. Within 72 hours, the check engine light came on, the engine began shaking violently at idle, and there was a strong smell of gasoline. These are serious safety issues that appeared immediately after purchase. I contacted the dealership right away and spoke with my salesperson, Rick, who said he would speak with his manager. After some discussion, I was told to bring the vehicle in tomorrow for evaluation. I understand the car was sold as-is, but a major safety defect appearing immediately after purchase should not fall under that disclaimer. Absolutely horrible check-in process for service. I waited 30+ minutes to be checked in because my service advisor was at lunch and apparently no one else was available to check in customers. When my service advisor finally came back from lunch and checked me in, he said I'd need to leave the car, which I wasn't prepared to do. That should be included as a disclaimer, along with the price of renting a car from them, when making specific appointments online so people can plan accordingly. If I planned to leave the car, I'd need to rent one from them for $12. I decided to leave and go somewhere else and had a much better experience at that service center. I traveled out of the way because this location accepted a particular payment method I wanted to use, but I definitely wouldn't travel out of the way again to Howdy Honda's service center. read more

I purchased a car here, but the dealership has failed to fulfill the commitments they made in writing--specifically those outlined in the "We Owe" document--and they are completely ignoring my attempts to contact them. Exercise caution!! We brought in a vehicle to be serviced and there was a lot of urgency from their team member about signing off on the suggested maintenance items in that moment so the maintenance team could get started ASAP. The contact person at the front office, Yessica, started a text exchange with us to provide vehicle updates - she was communicative through the morning...until we had a question. We asked about canceling some of the maintenance tasks and suddenly she was unreachable via text and phone, and didn't reply to voicemails. We ultimately were charged for the maintenance provided - we understand this! - but their team needs to not be texting back and forth during the day with clients, as her earliest texts read as if we'd be able to continue adjusting the maintenance to be provided through the day. This led to confusion around what services had been formally signed off on and which we could still remove from the order. We spoke to the manager about this when picking up our vehicle and they provided no resolution. Bad practice on their part. read more

Zero reply. I left a voicemail with Marcus the service manager and no reply. I spoke with Ted in sales who assured me he would have Marcus call me right back and it's been over 5 hours since that and still nothing. Me & my family brought all of our Honda cars to Howdy Honda since we started buying Honda since 1993. We have had 5 Honda cars between us. We gave thousands of dollars in business since then. Howdy Honda was bought by John Eagle of Dallas dealerships in 2018, & then, John Eagle dealerships was bought out by Lithia Auto Group of California in 2020. Before these buyouts, Howdy Honda had won the Honda President's Awards consecutively & yearly for YEARS! They WERE really a great quality customer experience oriented company! Ever since those buyouts, it's been a race to the bottom. Lithia group is a private equity firm that says they are customer focused. Nothing is furtherest from that truth!!! One can expect to be treated like a number there now! I have noticed turn-over in employee's like a revolving door. Employee's don't seem to be happy! How can one expected to be treated well when employees aren't happy, also!!! DO NOT EXPECT THE CARE THAT THEY USE TO HAVE! I have seen this decline over 30 years! Howdy Honda use to be well service oriented. Not any more! I took my Honda car in for a regular oil in their Express Oil Change dept with the flyer coupon mailer they usually send me. They did not honor that coupon as they had done so many times in the past. The Express manager Michael Smith looked at me like, "So what. Do you want the service or not?" Mind you, it was more than twice the flyer coupon price at $60 plus taxes. The lack of care & unwillingness to take care of a long time customer of over 31 years meant nothing to him or anyone to Lithia group! Expect to be gouged in price with shoddy, questionable workmanship service done on your Honda. I had 2 go-to service advisors at Howdy Honda that would take care of me & my family. Relationships & a repertoire that meant something which I had built as a trust over 31 years. I had only brought my car for service there, because i knew my car was serviced right the FIRST TIME. In the past 3 years, this is no longer the case. I brought my Honda for service for over heating issue & a leakage somewhere on it. I had to bring it in 4 times until they finally fixed the leakage & 3 times for the overheating issue. I spent $10,000+ over this period. Do not count on their new mechanics to get it right at Lithia Group's Howdy Honda!! They are a private equity firm that went public & listed on the NYSE as (LAD). This firm leveraged (borrowed) $500million to buy John Eagle dealerships using the cash-flow-cow that it WAS. They did not use any of their own cash to buy. This placing pressure on all employees to "perform" by getting as much money as they can, regardless of giving GOOD SERVICE. They no longer focus of service in the customer interest or experience! I have witnessed this at Howdy Honda over 31 years! Take your business to a dealership that is NOT OWNED BY PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS OR A CORPORATION LISTED ON THAT STOCK MARKET. First of all, I came to the dealership with an appointment and was told that the sales rep was off work when he was the one who scheduled the appointment. I was help by another rep who show me the used truck that I wanted to purchase, however when he show me the truck didn't have the tonneau cover that shows on their website. This sales guy told me that the person that trade the truck, came back to get the cover and he can get the manager to reduce the price at least some, but he came back with the original price y offered a cash purchase and he said his manager didn't approved it. I am so very disappointed that I drove 40 minutes to get there and another 40 minutes getting back to work for a terrible experience, with false advertising since they remove the cover, but the pictures on their website show the cover. This is a cumulative revue every experience I've had at Howdy Honda. The bar is extremely low for customer service. I think the people that work here try, but the overall ethos of the dealership is to treat the customer poorly. The process is brutal, the service and shop fees always get tacked on and are egregious compared to anywhere else. They are the only Honda location south. I would drive all the way to Cedar Park before I gave them any more business. Overall customer satisfaction with the car has been pour at best. I don't think the Honda products of today are what they were. even five years ago. Then when you tack it onto a dealership that doesn't really care about the customer or the transaction it's incredibly difficult. We have a 2024 model car and you can't replace the battery without a special tool so you have to go to the dealership, a $250 battery cost $470 due to extra fees. They hit you with the extra fees after the work is done. They do offer bad coffee and lukewarm water so I guess there's that. If I had to choose between Howdy Honda and getting kicked with a golf cleat... They're about the same. read more

Their response sucks, I've been trying to get a hold of them for five days and almost 2 weeks trying to reach their service department to schedule. I bought an expensive extended warranty with the truck I bought from Howdy Honda, paid 30 $3750 for it, paid $900 for the oil change for Life of the vehicle. I can't get anybody to set up a service for the oil change and also I have a problem this associated with the extended warranty I can't get anybody to help me there either. Horrible service rip off company, nobody will answer the phone. You have to leave a voicemail and nobody calls you back. Do not buy from this dealership run run run, they are terrible at customer service. They're also doing a renovation and their excuses that nobody can call you back. It's funny how I can call people back on my iPhone or my phone anytime I want I could be setting up a tree and still call people back. Terrible service from their general manager to the service department all around. The only person I found that would help me with a sales person named Will, that at least tried to help me and he helped me get my paperwork. Horrible experience. Do not buy from them. read more

Discovered a 2019 Honda Civic EX with low miles in pristine condition on Autotrader. Howdy Honda sales team expeditiously responded and set up an appointment. 1. The sales person was unable to keep the appointment because he was other clients. 2. The sales team was very slow at assisting me. 3. The sales manager never came out to follow up and offered me a higher price than the posted ad which I had bought to their attention! ??? To keep the story short, HH wasted four hours of my life and in the end offered $1,998 over the Autotrader ad advertisement. Initially the sales person said they had some negotiation room. I was told the auto was in the certification process and I could forego the certification to offer a more competitive price. In the end they told me they overpaid the auto as a trade-in and the car was equipped with low jack and Perma coat (a ceramic paint coating), for this reason for the offer was $1998 over Advertisement! I do not recommend nor will I be going back -_- Feedback to HH: Please focus on each and every customer. Still waiting on their General Manager, Curtis Salter, to give me a call back to apologize for dragging me into a private room to yell at me away from customers. I guess he doesn't want customers to realize that he'll scream at them and gaslight them about their bad service department who installed my fuelpump incorrectly, told me that it was probably something that I did to cause fuel smells to pour into my cabin after they did a fuel pump recall. Telling me that you've done this 100000s of times, but the only time you've failed this badly is with me, then screaming at me, is not exactly the experience I'm looking for when I come in for a free, standard recall. I had to bring my car in 3 times for the same fuel pump recall. Ridiculous. The first time I wanted the fuel pump installed, they installed it incorrectly, had to flat bed it back for the second time. The third time, their mechanic did not pull the seatbelt out from under the seats when reinstalling them, so I had to bring it back AGAIN for them to take a look at. 3 times. for one fuel pump. ridiculous. I spoke with their Service Manager and we were able to put things behind us, but since Curtis still has not reached out or even bothered to email, I can't bring my car or recommend anyone bring their car in for service or purchase from someone that is willing to yell at customers who just want this free service done right. Honestly this whole service turned me off from buying Hondas again alltogether, and my family from doing it as well. There's 2 Honda shops in Austin and I've just had abysmal service at both. I would recommend taking things into your own hands as these shops obviously do not care about your car, or you as a customer. They will give you horrible service, along with fight you ever single inch of the way, making your free recall a whole 3 week ordeal that never should have happened. read more

He listened to us as we described our dream vehicle, took us out to the lot where he knew EVERYTHING about the Honda CR-V, and taught us some things I never knew about hybrids. This was the best car buying experience in our 61 years! There was absolutely no pressure from sales staff to extended warranty staff. Everyone was kind and respectful. The entire process was pleasant and we made sure they knew it before we left. They were very knowledgeable about the vehicle but didnt overload us with a bunch of information we didnt need. Didn't try and upsell us to make more money. We felt our salesperson really worked with us to get to a number we could all feel good about. I went to Howdy Honda to look at a used truck they had listed for sale. We arrived, met with the salesman and waited for him to finish up with another customer. After about 10-15 minutes he came back and got the vehicle pulled up to test drive. We went for a very short drive around the block after visually inspecting it. When we got back to the lot we headed inside to discuss numbers. He brings me a sheet with their asking price plus paint protection and low jack for an additional $1,000 dollars. When I saw the additional charges asked what they were. He gave a very vague explanation of what the charges were for. I mentioned I was not wanting those items, and he just decided to pull up the website that stated there are additional charges in the fine print of the listing. Rather than removing the overpriced unnecessary fees, the salesman doubled down on how low they have this vehicle priced. I was willing to purchase a vehicle that day however with the bait and switch tactics this dealer tried to pull I was not going to doing business with Howdy Honda. I guess they will just have to try to sell a truck they have been sitting on for two months to someone willing pay over what the vehicle is worth. I think they probably overpaid, and are hoping someone isn't smart enough to do research on what something is actually worth. read more

I don't have words strong enough for how fraudulent of sales tactics Howdy Honda is using. I went into to test drive a 2013 Honda CRV-EX. They did not disclose any additional fees in addition to the purchase price. I requested a purchase order that I could upload to my credit union for final loan approval. When the purchase order was emailed to me, it included a "mandatory" Lojack fee of $499. I stated neither my car insurance or my lienholder required me to have GPS tracking on my car and I declined the service. Robert, the Used Car Sales Manager, again told me it was "mandatory" and "comes installed on all their cars". I stated that I didn't want to purchase a year of Lojack service, but I would pay a fair price for the unit that was already installed. I was told no, either I paid the fee or the deal was dead. ADDITIONALLY, I asked for the "non tax fee" of $157 to be itemized and they refused. At the urging of my lienholder, who is a locally-based credit union, I filed a compliant with the dealership with the Texas DMV for fraudulent sales practices. SINGLE WOMEN, IN PARTICULAR, DO NOT GO TO THIS CAR DEALERSHIP. They are trying to operate as a bank rather than a car dealership and they will assume you are stupid and don't know the law. read more

Now that I have finally received a reimbursement for the towing charge for the car my son purchased, I feel I can write this review. My son purchased a vehicle from Howdy Honda in June. You need to be aware of the salesmen/finance managers trying to take advantage of you on interest rates if you plan on financing the vehicle. After stating we were going to leave and find our own financing, they finally said "good news" we can get your loan bought at an interest rate over 5% lower than he was first quoted. My son purchased a 2018 Mazda 6 with a little over 45,000 miles on it. Less than 2 days and driving less than 100 miles, the car broke down. He did not purchase the extended warranty as he does expect to make some modifications to it which would void the warranty. They did advise us to tow the car to their dealership so they could look at it. They did end up having it fixed and provided a loaner car since it took over 2 weeks to fix. We are still not entirely sure what was wrong. I just received the reimbursement check for the towing yesterday over 2 months later and MANY, MANY texts/calls to get the check. Here is where I am extremely upset with Howdy Honda. We were told at the time of purchase that two of the tires had been replaced. After we got the car back from the repair, my son drove the car less than 100 miles again and one of the tires blew out. We were told by Discount Tires that two of the tires were original (6 years old) and should definitely have been replaced. We had to buy two new tires which cost us almost $450. Keep in mind, my son had put less than 200 miles on the car at this time. "Legally" the dealership said they met the minimum for tread depths. I even brought them the tires to look at them. If my son had taken this car into the service department, they 100% would have told him to replace these tires but yet they will sell the vehicle because the minimum tread was BARELY over the legal requirements. So, if you want to purchase a car from a dealership that only cares about saving a penny and not about customer safety than Howdy Honda is your place. If you want to buy a car from a dealership that cares about customers and repeat business and will do the ethical thing then go somewhere else. read more

My car had a major problem with the MPI going out, and after doing some research I found out that this piece for my model and year in particular had been recalled/given an extended warranty. I called this dealership and after telling my VIN # they told me that there was no recall/extended warranty and were unable to help me when my car was basically undriveable. Keep in mind the recall/extended warranty was posted on the official Honda bulletin online. The lady on the phone I spoke with at first was also very rude. I called First Texas Honda on Steck and they were informed of the extended warranty and treated me with kindness and got my vehicle serviced in 2 days for free, covered by the warranty. UPDATE: After posting my review, Tyler Cole reached out to see if we could address some of the issues and make this right. We sat down with the printed contract and realized that warranties were added to the loan ($1400 for Tire and Wheel + $1500 for lifetime oil change). Potentially some misunderstanding as to how this happened but it makes sense now why the loan amount and the finance charge was way higher than expected. Tyler was able to remove the $3000 in unwanted warranties, says it should reflect on the loan in the next 6 - 8 weeks. He wasn't willing to remove the Lo Jack charge and didn't offer any additional compensation for time off work to address this issue with the finance team last week. BUT - my son is as comfortable with this outcome as can be. THANK YOU TYLER for reaching out to help make this right. Still not sure how I feel about using Howdy Honda unless Tyler is on deck. My advice, when walking through final finance docs at any dealership, request that they print all documents for your review prior to signing electronically and go LINE BY LINE. This could have saved time, money, and lots of stress. This starts with a call from Jeff Perez who lets me know the car I found online for $11,075 is available but quotes me a price $12079. He goes on to say that I must have found the $11,075 on a 3rd party website, which they don't honor. I explained it was actually on Howdy Honda website and the $1000 would make or break the deal with my sons budget. We get off the phone and I later see an email from Jeff confirming the vehicle is still available and the price is $11075. I emailed back, said we are interested in the vehicle at this price and we're happy to come in. He says great, happy to be work with your son, see you tomorrow. Appointment set for 1:30pm next day, son arrives, speaks with Jeff and they say the car is for sale $12079 - my son brings up the email exchange, Jeff smiles, leaves the room, now enters Paul. Apparently Paul is now taking over this appointment. Jeff had another commitment to tend to - odd way to exit without any explanation from Jeff, but okay. So Paul does not honor the deal that Jeff emailed about. He explains there is lo jack on the car - they can bring down the price by $500 but that's it. disappointing but they worked it out. Now the car is $11575 + TTL with $5300 down. So thinking roughly going to finance $8000. Son signs electronically and gets all documents on a thumb drive. 3-days go by and my son gets a call from the bank to finalize the purchase of his 2013 Honda. As he starts to dig in deeper on the payment schedule - things aren't adding up. He immediately tells the bank to pause the loan, leaves work, drives to the dealership and tries to return the car (since it had not been funded and no way this 2013 Honda went from $8000 to now a roughly $19000 car.) Howdy Honda said if he canceled the deal it would be a voluntary repo, he would not get any of the $3800 cash down payment back or the car he traded in for $1500, They would also report this to his credit. Which he is already trying to rebuild. EVEN IF they claim transparency, and "he should have asked more questions" they could have canceled the transaction at that point and let him walk. Instead, they said it was already closed even though the bank clearly said it had not been funded and were ready to release the approval since the terms were not acceptable. AND remember that Lo Jack, When he finally was able to get signed into the account, the account belonged to a man residing in Houston with a RAV 4. Howdy had to reinstall lo jack - seems they could have just given him his $500 back at that point since he didn't want it to begin with. Horrible customer service in the service department. Was told - three separate times - that someone with the service department would call me back in connection with an appointment but no one did. Had an appointment for their Red Cap pick-up service but no one came to pick up the vehicle. No explanation from them after the no-show - because no one called me to talk about it, even though I was told an "urgent" message would be sent to the service manager - but it appears that the service adviser who made the appointment didn't set it up for the Red Cap service.
