My husband and I decided to eat a late breakfast at this location today. We waited 40 minutes for our egg dishes to come out from the kitchen, and there were only 4 tables of diners in the entire place at the time. When our meals finally arrived, I was given a sandwich and I ordered eggs, then my husband had ordered scrambled eggs on his, and received one fried egg. We told the waitress about it and she went and got my breakfast, and ordered my husband a scrambled egg. I ordered the Frittata Rustica. When it finally arrived, it didn't have any of the cheeses on top, and the frittata was cool and dried out. I didn't have the time to send it back again! My husbands was one egg on top of a pile of potatoes and had coffee and I had a soda. The total bill was over $31.00!!!! Horrible wait time for the wrong and not very good food. I understand understaffed conditions, but there were several men in addition to our waitress standing around doing not much of anything this whole time. With only 4 tables, all seated and eating before us, I think the wait time was pretty slow for our food. Used to love this place, not going back. read more

Recently visited two different First Watch locations and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! I guess my expectations were low due to the fact that it's a chain with so many locations in the area. I had the breakfast tacos one time and the healthy turkey egg white omelet the other. Food is good but not satisfied with the last time I went. I went to checkout and the guy charged me twice. He said it would go back onto my card and it didn't. later in the day I called and asked to talk to a manger and he assured me that it wasn't intentional and the second charge would be added back to my card. As both the charges said "processing" didn't happen.Now the charges are done processing and no change. I want my money Back. read more

The service was five star, the food barely a three. I'll start with the food... First off, they have skillet potatoes not hash browns. Teen and I REALLY wanted hash browns so this was a disappointment right off the bat. Teen wouldn't even consider skillet potatoes so she went with a BLTE. You guessed it, BLT with an Egg. As a side, she ordered tomato basil soup. I ordered half a reuben and some skillet potatoes. She said her sandwich was good, but the soup was terrible! My sandwich was good, but not the best reuben I've had. The skillet potatoes were good, as long as I tried not to remember I wanted hash browns. Now about the service. They were packed and had a long wait so I was skeptical, but so wrong. Our drinks were kept full. When I told the server that Teen and I didn't like the soup, she insisted that she try something else. She tried a fruit medley that she liked okay. They made Teen's sandwich wrong (she hates cheese), but the server happily took it back and replaced it promptly. You could tell that she really cared about the restaurant and wanted us to have the best food and experience there. Not sure when we will be back; I know it may sound silly and peevish but it's just not breakfast without hash browns and there are many better places to have lunch. read more

First Watch is pretty good. They have really good service, and a pretty decent selection of food. The last time I was at a First Watch was around 5 or more years ago and I remembered it gets super busy on saturday and sunday mornings. I came around 7:30 am on a Monday and it was actually pretty busy then too. I think they participate in that app where you can get a place in line if there is a wait. I had the "tri-athlete" omelet with egg whites that has mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and green chilies. Also served with this really great salsa. And it comed with a dry english muffin and fresh fruit. I didn't eat the english muffin, willpower. But everything else was amazing. It really is easy to eat healthy here, or easily indulge. I came here a few weeks ago and ordered what I usually do. The parma with no tomatoes and substitute fruit cup for more bread because I'm allergic to some of the items in it. with emphasis on IM ALLERGIC TO STRAWBERRIES, APPLES AND PEANUTS. I got the fruit cup anyways. They just took the cup away and went on. I got a jam on the side and asked what it was. Was told it's a raspberry jam. I asked if they were sure. Yes. WELP. It was strawberry jam and I broke out in hives and had to use my Epi pen in the bathroom. I told the waitress and told them I need to leave. She said hm sorry. The traditional breakfast was reasonably price which included eggs, a meat of your choice, potatoes, and an English muffin. It's was all good except the potatoes were a bit overcooked. Been 4 or 5 times. Good for out-of-town guests because the menu is so varied. Then add the specials, and everybody is sure to find something they enjoy! Then they just hop on I-64 back home! I'm big on hydration, and that rates. You get your own coffee carafe and your own water pitcher. The food is fresh, well-made, well-garnished, well-presented. I usually get some omelette, sometimes with a little Mexican flair. Always tasty. All portions are generous, but not massive. Last time there with a party of 8. Everybody got something different, and all plates looked equal. And everybody REALLY enjoyed their meal. Nice! My three stars are generous here. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes--plural, just like words on the menu. Only one arrived, and definitely not something I'd write home about. The "lemon" part was a dollop of lemon curd, which I could have easily assembled myself at home (the hyper-challenged cook that I am). I also ordered two eggs on the side, emphasizing over medium. Well two runny eggs arrived. Yuck, runny eggs aren't for me (for almost $4 no less). My husband said his Eggs Benedict were mediocre. They were surprisingly served with steamed broccoli. (Psst, a healthy side probably isn't desired with Eggs Benedict.) Meanwhile, the guests at the table beside us were complaining to the manager, somewhat unwarranted imo. So we decided to leave the server a good tip for effort and go on our way, since this manager took soooo long with the table to give a blow by blow/weigh in on the situation, that wow, his profession may be ill-fitting. Such an odd exchange. Was the manager excusing the server's honest mistake? Keeping the customers in suspense by talking so much? Apologizing to the guests? Begrudgingly comping their bill? Very disappointed this morning. Was so looking forward to the Salmon Eggs Benedict. I had the best ever a couple of months ago at the Ballas location in Creve Coeur. The Hollandaise sauce was thick, creamy and just tasted wonderful. The whole thing was excellent. This morning I was served this dish with two extra small, pathetic looking eggs and a Hollandaise sauce that was so thin it was see thru and had such a bitter taste. I went thru the meal with regret because I had company otherwise I think I would have walked out and drove to the Creve Coeur location where it's done right. What a shame that there is not an equal standard at all their locations. Yuch! read more

First Watch is basically where my breakfast was obtained on the wekends for the two years I lived in West County. The single greatest thing abouth this restaurant is that when you order coffee, the server will leave a whole carafe at your table (coffee drinker's heaven). This saves people like myself from eventually asking for their fourth or fifth cup from the server, and from feeling like those retirees who make up intricate sets of guidelines for what constitutes "good service." The food here is very good. It's not grand flight of french cusine (they do have crepes), but still provides excellent value for less than $10 (w/coffee). read more

Been here many times and the quality of the food and service has been consistently good. We tried to tempt fate and went on a Sunday around 10AM, and there were people jamming up the lobby (and blocking the free coffee to drink while you wait) and all around the outside of the restaurant. It was nuts. But we had called ahead and gotten on the waiting list, so we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The food was great, with a wide variety of breakfast choices. They also have seasonal menus, and the items on them are both a little more adventurous than the usual fare, but very tasty. They have an extensive lunch menu, but I'm not sure if they serve those items at peak breakfast time. I'm not sure I've ever been here when it wasn't busy, and sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but once you're seated the service is very efficient, the kitchen is quick (especially considering the volume they're pumping out) and food has never disappointed. And as a caffeine addict, I appreciate the fact that they leave a pot of coffee on the table for easy refills. The call ahead option was new to me for First Watch, but I highly recommend it, especially if you're going at a peak time. read more

So I am writing this review out of pure disappointment. I am a big fan of First Watch in Clayton, servers are great...food is great....all that good stuff. HOWEVER I recently went their Chesterfield location after talking it up to my coworkers and talk about a disappointment. Server=sucked...I think she was new but she still sucked. She did not know the menu and did not seem to care about learning it. Neither of the two people I came with were impressed with their food and mine was just okay. Really good place for breakfast! The chickenchanga is a must try if your feeling a little adventurous for breakfast. Service is always good and the price fits what you get. Good value. The pancakes and waffles are really good. I also had the shrimp and grits which were different than I'm used to but very good. One tip, you pay at the front of the restaurant so if you're not aware, you'll be waiting a while to have your card run!! read more

Arrived here on a Sunday after church. This place is hopping. We had a litttle bit of a wait, but no big deal. In the lobby/waiting area they have complimentary coffee and sweet tea (although it didnt't really say anything nice or mean for that matter) for you to enjoy while waiting. So many choices. I went with the Turkey and Advocado Benny with a fruit cup. My date went with the kids french toast. The french toast was made out of sourdough, and sweet enough that you didn't need any syrup. The fruit was on point and seasonal. Their hot tea is pretty good too! You get numerous choices, so the hardest part is trying to figure out which tea to drink! Spend a day and a half fasting, finish your medical procedure in the morning, and you are ready for some breakfast! First Watch fit that bill to a tee. The restaurant is clean and bright, service was friendly and prompt, and food came quickly. I wanted something better than the Denny's specials or a stack of IHOP pancakes. First Watch offers a widely varied menu, and their omelettes sounded really tasty. My order was for an Acapulco Express omelette (Chorizo sausage, avocado, green chilies and house-roasted onions with Cheddar and Monterey Jack. Topped with sour cream and served with a side of housemade salsa). It came out as a generous portion, with fresh-tasting fillings, and moist & fluffy egg. The taste was very satisfying. I'm not a coffee guy, so I got a diet Coke. Being pretty thirsty, I drank it all right away, and the waitress said she would bring another. She got sidetracked, so when i asked again she apologized and brought me two. Nice save! I have eaten at First Watch restaurants a few times, and all my experiences have been pretty good. The food was fantastic and the service was great. I got the Ham and Gruyere omelet and added tomatoes to it. It was very good, not the best omelet I've very had, but definitely in the top 3. The coffee was amazing and you can buy the grounds to take home. It had a light, roasted flavor. The omelet came with some amazing whole grain bread with butter and strawberry preserves. Also substituted the greens it came with with potatoes and those were great too! Lastly, I tried the Spiced Pear Cider which tasted great. It left my mouth feeling a little dry, but I was able to ignore that because the flavor was worth it. read more

Took my sister here for her birthday breakfast this morning. They recently updated this location and it's so cute. There was a wait but the waiting area had fresh coffee for all. We were quickly seated and taken care of. We got the Gravy Train omelette, the ham and tomato eggs Benedict, and the whole grain banana granola pancake with chocolate chips added. We went here because the food looked good online. We walked in and a white gentleman with glasses greeted us. The place was packed. The seating area was stuffed with people. No seats and no where to stand. He stated it would be a 20-25 minute wait. He took our name AND phone number so they could notify us when the table was ready. Instead of standing where one can't really stand, we waited in the car. APPARENTLY this was a big mistake. Roughly 20 minutes later we recieved a text that our table was ready. We left the car and went inside. This maybe took a minute. When we got inside they looked at us like we had 3 heads. We showed them the text and they said are table had ALREADY been given away. Dafuq??? So instead of us leaving like some people with some sense, we waited some more. This time we waited inside because they can't be bothered to wait 1 minute to keep your table. Please note, at no time were we every apologized to about our table being given away. So we sat down. The guy who look confused when we said we got a text about our table asked a black gentleman if he knew what happened. He used our name and he said we never responded. So we're waiting and we were assured it would only be a few more minutes. As we waited, other people were being seated. Some more people came in and they got seated too. So the last straw was when a party of 3 got seated and they weren't even inside the place when we came back inside the second time. Horrible service. There is 0 reason to take our number and text us if you plan to give the table away in less than a minute. read more
