I go to the first watch restaurant chain quite often in various locations, this one had good service and good food. The eggs Benedict blt is a common meal I get when I come to first watch, it was "okay" but not mouth watering like it usually is. And the cheesy grits had a macaroni-cheese consistency rather than a grits consistency. read more

I was disappointed by the meal on Mothers Day 2023. I ate her when they first opened. I usually get the same meal. This is the second time the neal was not good. The scrambled eggs looked as though they started to fry them then remembered that they were supposed to be scrambled. No seasoning at all. The potatoes had to have been made the night before and they just warmed them in the microwave. When they first opened this location the potatoes were tender as they should be. We could have gotten a better meal at the Waffle House, because I am never disappointed with their food . And it would have been half the price. The guy hosting/seating guests is rude! Twice I have tried to visit this restaurant and both times he has been awful to me. The first time, I didn't know about registering online. Loudly in front of other people he said I should have known better and immediately turned from me to help other people. This time, I registered online. The text said for me to check in. I tried to do that. He couldn't find my name on the list. I showed him the confirmation text and then he found my name. Then in an overly assertive tone he told me that I was supposed to check in when I got there. I told him that was what I was doing. He told me, "No it's not." I had an appointment nearby and I also needed a quick lunch. I spotted First Watch, and i hadn't been to one in a few years. This was my spot. When I entered, Matilda greeted me, and asked if I was dining yes. I asked if I was able to get in and out quickly, and she said it was quickest if I sat at the community table, which currently sat empty. No big deal, so I sat. I ordered coffee (fantastic coffee, by the way!), and I ordered an elevated egg sandwich without the avocado. I'm a little sad I didn't take a picture. It was delicious. The over-easy egg was a gooey that makes me dance, and the potatoes were phenomenal. I don't frequent Decatur a lot, and I don't often swing by places with a First Watch, but when I do, it's amazing! When I arrived the restaurant was fairly empty, so I assumed I would receive fast service. Me and my friend were able to order our food in a short amount of time, but waited over 20 mins for our food to come to our table. I have no idea how this was the case considering there were less than 10 parties seated. I ordered the French toast but when my food came I only received a single slice that was burnt. I was told that my other piece was coming shortly, and when it came it was undercooked. My friend had ordered their potatoes and when they finally came they were cold. This place is horrible! Employees in the kitchen ate and drank while walking and cooking in kitchen and not in designated drinking areas. Line cooks as well as other kitchen staff/employees touched phones, hair, mouthes and then food with bare hands before washing such as tortillas, breads, and vegetables that were just washed quickly underwater and used their hands as a strainer. Tables and booths/chairs were not only visibly dirty but also sticky. I went there today at 11 AM 07/29 not busy at all so I am not sure why precautionary mesures were extremely overlooked at this establishment. The chef did not let me down! I wanted to hug everyone responsible for my flavorful dish. The potatoes served on the side and the salsa can we say AMAZING! I would not waste your time or money at this place. I've been to other First Watch locations that were much better, but this one was a major disappointment. If nearly all of your dishes are served with a side of greens, wouldn't you think that they would have the freshest greens available? Nope. I got my eggs Benedict with a plate full of wilted, soggy spinach and arugula. Gross! And the fact that the server, who seemed like she was very experienced, served me that plate is unacceptable. Also, the layout of this restaurant is terrible. It just causes a bunch of pile ups with the customers, and people bumping you and shoving into you as they squeeze by. We had to wait in line to pay at the one cash register, which also was in front of the community table and where people were passing through. It was a disaster. The location was good. The inside of the building was very tight. The waiter and the cashier is in front of the building, where there was high traffic. People coming in to check in and people checking out. The food was very delicious. I had Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the famous Million Dollar Bacon. The food was great but the wait was pretty out of hand. I cane with a friend of mine and was offered a 35-45 minute wait. Cool - since I brunch pretty regularly, a Saturday morning wait is to be expected. But 40 minutes in, when I noticed that several people had been seated ahead of us at the middle table, I finally asked and received confirmation that this was a first come-first served table. This being my first time there, I was kind of irritated that this wasn't presented as a choice when we walked in, given that we could've been seated much earlier. We finally got a table another 10-15 minutes later, after which we waited quite some time before our waitress even approached our table. Another long wait for water, and quite a bit longer for food. Once it arrived, the food was amazing! I had the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy and eggs over easy, all of which was quite tasty. The waitress returned a bit later with refills and the check, which she told us to take our time with. What she didn't mention was that they were closing soon and you don't pay at the table. So once my friend got locked out after going to the car to get her wallet, and another wait staff person telling us a while later that we were to pay at the register, we were pretty over it. The whole experience took almost 3 hours, which was pretty disappointing. A shorter overall brunch and staff that do not assume you've been there before would've made it perfect, but as it stands I can't say I'd recommend it. read more

This was my first time here and it was amazing! When we got there for a New Years Eve brunch it was pretty busy but we only waited for about 10-15 mins to be seated. The food was delicious and came out super quick after we ordered. I also liked that they gave you a bottle of water on your table so you could refill your own cup instead of having to ask the waitress for refills. The only barely negative thing (not worth a drop in the stars) was the waiting area was super tiny, a very tiny little alcove in the corner. It was full of people already waiting and if it hadn't been cold outside we would've waited outside but like I said we didn't wait that long so it's survivable. read more

This place is really popular and there was a LONG wait to be seated, which was understandable considering I went on a Sunday morning (prime time). It took around 45 minutes for us to be seated and then the waitress didn't even approach our table to offer us drinks for a WHILE (maybe 10 minutes) and when we finally put in our order we waited over 40 minutes before our food came out. Even though they were busy, I feel like the service was really poor and the wait for everything was longer than necessary. When we were waiting for our food, we noticed that there were a LOT of empty tables and they were empty for a while before the next customers got seated, which was weird considering there were so many people waiting to be seated. The food itself was okay. It was just another brunch place. I think other brunch spots in Atlanta are better (food and service-wise). I ordered their traditional breakfast (eggs, sausage, potatoes, and toast) and I really don't think it should have taken the amount of time that it took to come out. I would recommend getting another dish on their menu considering the price of this meal was similar to their eggs Benedict's, waffles and pancakes, and sandwiches which looked more appealing. I do have to say from what I saw from other tables that their pancakes did look humongous (like it says in the menu). The aesthetic of the place is very nice and well kept but I just think that the food and service were abysmal and disappointing. read more

Y'all know I have a knee-jerk reaction to hugely corporate restaurants? Well, it took me about five seconds to figure out that First Watch is definitely a national chain. It was the art work that tipped me off. It was all too safe, boring. Milquetoast. In a word, too corporate. I will never hold the corporate thing against a restaurant. (Just look at my other reviews.) So let me first say that staff here was quick to seat me, quick to keep my glass full, and quick to offer some really good suggestions. The name of the game here is fresh food. And I think they succeed, though in the back of my mind, I would also want to know that they're sourcing their excellent breakfast locally. And I don't think they are. I mean, that would be the epitome of fresh, right? I had one of the breakfast specials, a Barbacoa Benedict. Beef barbacoa, on a big piece of ciabatta, with a couple of poached egg and some good, ol' Hollandaise sauce. Served next to some greens tossed in a vinaigrette, it was good. But I'm sad to say it did not knock my socks off. Perhaps I should have gone with my server's recommendation to have the Chickichanga. I do think the price points are a little high, considering the excellent breakfasts I can get just a few miles away in Decatur--for less. But parking was easy, and I can see this might be a good place to meet up for a quick brunch or lunch. Certainly the staff is going to take very good care of you. read more

I've never written a review, but I felt this experience justified it. My girlfriend has raved about First Watch after she tried it once in Raleigh, NC. When we found out there was one here in Atlanta we were really excited to try it. We walked in at 2:00pm, aware they closed at 2:30. Upon walking in Monique seated us along with a separate party in a very dismissive manner that made us all feel unwelcome. After she rudely sat us, she walked in to the open kitchen and called out "3 up." The kitchen let out an annoyed moan to which she angrily replied "yeah, they're assholes." The two of us along with the woman seated at the same time all promptly decided to leave after that. I have never been so blatantly disrespected as I was at First Watch in Decatur. There is never a time or circumstance where the behavior of the staff would be acceptable. To act and speak the way Monique did in front of guests is completely unprofessional and made me question what quality of food we would have received. I will never return to this First Watch and will never recommend it. Absolutely horrific experience. read more

We came in on a Tuesday at 8:30am. It took 15 minutes for our server to bring us coffee. He never brought us water and we ended up getting some from the server stand ourselves. He forgot several items in our order, never refilled our coffee and seemed annoyed when we reminded him. The food came out and was okay but not great. I asked for very light cooking oil because of gallbladder issues but he said they couldn't accommodate. Overall it was fine but with bad service.
