Not impressed with this location. Food came out cold, long wait times when virtually no one was in the restaurant. I got the Florentine Benedict which hardly had any Hollandaise sauce and literally a few pieces of spinach one piece of avocado on each side. Didn't look anything like the photo on the menu. My partner got the Monterey Club. Again, not a big tall sandwich as shown in the menu. This location was very disappointing, but subsequent dining at the Rockville location really wowed us. The food there was extremely hot, fresh, and delicious. So hot steam was coming off the food upon serving. The waitress was awesome! She was from Jersey and really knew how to give fast service , was very outgoing and fun but kept movin'. From now on, we'll avoid the Muddy Branch location and only go to Rockville. I hope the executive office will pay attention to what's wrong at the Muddy Branch location and fine-tune it because parking there is a lot easier. read more

So glad that a good place has opened for breakfast near the Kentlands! The moment we sat down, our friendly and very attentive waiter asked for our drink order and was just a little too eager asking for our order. A for effort. We got the breakfast scramble and my gf got I believe the trifecta. The portions were so big, we couldn't eat any lunch the rest of the day. It wasn't salty and didn't skimp on the size. If you get here after 9:30AM over the weekend, expect a wait. Not too long of a line but worth mentioning. I've been to this location twice now and both time the food was delicious, mine and the person I was with. Our food came within a short time so there was a shorter wait than expected and our waiter/waitress was exceptionally outstanding both times. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed and consisted of families and what appeared to be couples and groups of friends. I would go again for the biscuits and gravy because it's turkey sausage and it's usually pork sausage when it's on the menu anywhere. read more

Oh its good. Hearty & healthy meal for an affordable price! In LA (where I live..) it's IMPOSSIBLE to get sandwich and salad (or soup) for $7.99. And the quality and quantity is just perfect! Loved how we get a good sized individual carafe for house coffee (and they refill it!) their soups were excellent-Italian wedding soup and tomato basil soup. The food at First Watch in Gaithersburg is always delicious. I really enjoyed the charred flavor of the frittata and the fresh blueberry muffin. The bacon was a bit over cooked and salty today, but it's usually very good. The skillet hash was also tasty topped with poached eggs. read more

You really never know what you're going to get here. Service isn't predictable and neither is the food. Even the app that you use to get in line for a table is decent but you'll still check in, be told its 40 more minutes then watch someone randomly get seated after handing a hostess a 5 dollar bill. read more

I have to admit I've dined here twice in the last couple of weeks. This place is awesome. Everything tastes so fresh and from scratch. I came here this past weekend with family. We shared a Tri athlete omelette, power wrap, parmesan hash, french toast Monte Cristo, Kale tonic. There were no complaints at all. All the omelettes were cooked well. Each of the entrees come with a fresh cup of fruit. I do wish the tonic was a bit larger I would've enjoyed having it throughout the meal, but I guess its meant to be taken like a shot. I like the how the menu here is always innovative. Even though some of the dishes can be hearty and heavy you don't feel that way when your done. Prices are reasonable. They get a lot of their food from local farms. Wait times can be long. Its usually a 30 minute wait for us. They have about 10 seats in the waiting area, free coffee and wifi. read more

Went here again recently and they still have yummy food and great service. We both ordered the Chickichanga. Kinda wish I ordered the salmon Benedict, but the Chickichanga was still good. It's basically like an omelette with chicken, sausage, chiles, onions, and avocado. We also ordered the million dollar bacon, which was very flavorful. Definitely taste the black pepper and sweetness. The wait was less than 5 minutes. Omg this place needs to do a better job with estimating their wait times. Put myself on the waitlist and when I checked in at the restaurant I was told it would be a 10-15 min wait. I usually go to First Watch when I'm trying to be healthy and not break the bank. Everything I have eaten here is fresh and flavorful, and I always leave full. Service is okay. I feel like it's kind of a diner paced restaurant. Expect a wait when you walk in, but they seem to flip their tables quickly. While you may be quoted 30 minutes you'll honestly probably get seated in 20 minutes. Yes, they validate parking. I really like their chicken pesto quinoa bowl. The chicken is tender and the fresh herbs pair nicely with their amazing basil pesto sauce. The farmhouse hash is another one of my favorites. It has all the goodies to help me get over my hangover. I would honestly steer away from their sweet breakfast items (pancakes, waffles, French toast). I just feel like they have so many better savory options that you should try those unless you're in the mood for something sweet. 100% get their coffee!!! read more

So glad I found this place shortly after my family moved to King Farm last year. The service is consistently top notch, the meal is almost always perfect which is pretty much all you can ask, and despite being a very busy place that almost always has a wait, we've always felt extremely well taken care of. Definitely hop on the waitlist before you make your way there, it'll help with the aforementioned wait times! We've been mostly for breakfast and it gets busy within a half hour of opening, and for good reason. The omelettes and skillet hash are phenomenal, I always get the market hash with added diced ham, love it every time! Ordered a grilled English muffin today which was subpar, they put butter on the side and the muffin wasn't even warm, but that's pretty much the only nitpick I've ever had, which is saying a lot after maybe a dozen visits. Service was again terrific, Dionna was great! Highly recommend it, haven't tried the other locations but Muddy Branch is definitely worth a visit! Hope you like it as much as we do :) read more

We have been to this First Watch location perhaps 10 times. So, in general, we are fans. They have a good variety of menu options, including healthier choices, for breakfast and brunch at reasonable prices. Food ==== On our recent visit last weekend, we had the following: 1. Blueberry Multigrain Pancakes (4 of 5 stars): These were good, BIG pancakes! (I finished most but not all of 2 pancakes.) Lots of blueberries in multigrain pancakes, perhaps healthier than standard pancakes. Served with a mixed berry compote and WARM syrup, which are wonderful touches. 2. Side of Eggs (3.5 of 5 stars): Fine. I ordered them over easy; they were cooked slightly more, but no real problem for me. 3. Elevated Egg Sandwich (3.5 of 5 stars): Both of us like this sandwich, and get it often. The combination of egg, cheese, avocado, mayo, and arugula with the soft warm bun works well. In general, we find that this Muddy Branch location consistently overcooks the eggs for this sandwich, while the Rockville location more often gets it right. The egg should be over easy, as described, with an abundance of liquid yolk; usually it's at least over medium (and sometimes hard) here. It would be best over easy. The seasoned potatoes are a good side; for this visit, they were not as seared as usual (see picture), but they were still fine. More seared, as usual, would have been better. 4. Coffee (4 of 5 stars): The nice feature here is that they give you a thermos of hot coffee and a variety of different creamers. This minimizes the chance that you will need to wave down your server and wait for more coffee. I like having it already on the table, ready for my next cup, and the next, and the next... Other items that we have had previously at First Watch are worth mentioning here. The lemon ricotta pancakes are AWESOME! I have had a couple seasonal specials (similar to a hash or bowl) that were very good. The healthy turkey egg white omelette is a good option if you want something lighter. The biscuits & turkey sausage gravy were disappointing for me because they arrived barely warm, even after I sent them back. As much as I like biscuits and gravy, I would not get them again here. So, while there are occasional misses, most meals that we have tried here have been good. Service ====== The staff and servers are always friendly. Occasionally the service may be slow at Muddy Branch, or at least sometimes the food takes awhile to arrive. Usually, all is fine though. Last weekend, we received the best service ever from Lizeth, who was very friendly, conscientious, and prompt. She also refilled our thermos with fresh, hot coffee and a new variety of creamers. Atmosphere ========= The restaurant is spacious, and parking is easy. We usually go during the super busy weekend brunch times. The app is very useful to know how long the waits are at the different locations, and for getting in line while you are on your way. This saves a lot of time. read more

Our table was ready when we got there and walking past the throng of patrons in the waiting area felt really celebrity VIP-er-ish. The booth we sat in was spacious yet very classic mixed with traditional. A semi circle of leather seat & back support with a smaller rectangular wood table topping. Perfectly spaced for placing (the best part) the food!!! I'll say it again if you're a breakfast lover, I definitely am, this place stands out from the rest. My party ordered a bit of everything and we shared, now everything was ABSOLUTELY balanced and delicatessen, delicious, and vibrant. A few months back I came here for my birthday brunch with a friend. We got the eggs benedict and million dollar bacon. The bacon was really good. However, the eggs beni were extremely disappointing. We were expecting poached eggs but the yoke was FULLY cooked through. We asked for new eggs and the waitress brought them out (20 min later) in a soup bowl for us to place onto our bread...Looking at the other pictures, the eggs look fine. I guess it's a hit or miss.. and we got the miss. :( Would have rated this place a 1 star soley based on the poached egg. I've never cooked one before but shouldn't it be obvious if it's overcooked when placing it on the bread because of the lack of jiggle? We always enjoy visiting First Watch for breakfast and/or brunch and this visit was no exception! The service we got from the hostesses and our server was amazing! They have one of the BEST and freshest breakfast menus which is loaded with unique items prepared perfectly. Their egg white omelet (the Tri Athlete) was amazing and very tasty! The location is just OK.... It's in a plaza and very busy, too bad it couldn't be a little bigger so it could accommodate the long list of folks who are waiting to eat here! They are a part of the No Wait app, which is nice, as it can minimize the wait time once you arrive. The place was clean overall, but the men's room sink didn't work, so that's rather gross. The men's room also needed to be cleaned, as the toilet was very gross. Overall, we'd definitely return and will continue to visit their restaurants when we travel around the country. read more

Ordered: Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote, Parma Hash (house fries, Sausage, tomatoes, replaced onion with avocado) with a side of 2 easy over eggs and toast, 2 cups of hot coffee Cost: $31 (for 2 hungry and sleepy diners) After dropping the kids off at school, we were actually awake early enough to go and eat brunch, something I was very looking forward to. The server was very friendly and attentive, making sure we had a fresh pot of coffee at the table. The atmosphere was laid back and a nice, quiet way to start the morning. It wasn't particularly busy on the Tuesday morning, but the patrons were mostly older gentlemen and ladies. There were so many options, but we decided to go simple and order a sweet and a savory dish. R is not a fan of onions, and I'm in love with avocados, so we asked to replace the onion for avocado in our hash. (Spoiler alert: we weren't charged extra for the swap!) The berry compote is served warm and a wonderful edition to the Belgian waffle. The waffle was fluffy and full bodied, but not as crispy as we had hoped it to be. The hash was cooked just right, and for me personally, the avocado was a nice bright touch to the meal. The bread was also tasty, especially with the jam. We finished everything and was satiated but not super stuffed (which is better for your health I'm told.) I'd come back again even to dine by myself. I came here Monday after work to have lunch. Alani (I think that's her name) is a wonderful server. I had the seasonal watermelon wake up juice which is phenomenal. I decided to try two of the seasonal menu items (the Barbacoa Quesadilla Benedict and the Blueberry Muffin Top Griddle Cakes). Everything was great up until I bit into one of the eggs of my benedict. The eggs were not poached and what I bit into were egg shells. Everything else about the meal was great. The griddle cakes are really good I would recommend. The service was good overall. Use to have fine service now it's terrible. Id take this entire restaurant from management to the busser and completely fire them all. No excuse for such a horrible experience today. New Year's Eve and this is the experience my family will have. You name it. It happened. Food took forever , drinks forever , no manager in distance to talk to until we were done with our meal so now the manager is yelp. So yelp , where would you go today , not first watch. I Waitress said the manager is too busy. Walk in a disaster of a mess. Never again. IHOP at least have enough people to clean up the mess that we're paying for. Sadly although the response wasn't needed I don't plan on returning. There are situations where you choose to no longer support.
